I have been with geico for a few years rates have been going up and I looked for better prices elsewhere. Switching to progressive I canceled my policy on November 13. On November 27 they took $427.00 out of my bank and I was charged a $35.00 overdraft. I am on a fixed income and did not figure on that money coming out of my account. Geico now tells me it's no their fault cause I was on auto pay, and in today's computer age they tell me they didn't get the letter in the mail in time for the billing. Everything is done by email today so I don't understand how a letter was in the mail.? Have been trying to speak to a manager, made 2 appointments and neither appointment did I get a call back.
Geico is one big rip-off! Quoted one price on my BMW and then when went to make purchase it was 500 more! They wouldn't have any compassion even though im sure the recorded phone call made my claim valid. The worst customer service experience I've dealt with in years. Never again, I'll do the hard work and move on.
Geico is the shadiest most scumiest company ever! I am picking up a brand new car tomorrow! With the addition of this new car my insurance is going through the roof. I am talking stupid pricing thanks to living in NJ. Well Geico gave me the best rate by $500. They qualified me and I committed to them. I give them my credit card. As soon as they go to run payment their story changes. Now they need to verify something and send me something in the mail and it can take 3 weeks. Are you serious? 1 hour on the phone trying to give you my business for 2 cars and 2 condos (not 1 but 2). Is the $500 even worth the hassle at this point? I am frustrated! The amount of time I have invested in car insurance shopping far exceeds the value of the dollar figure that I am going to save! Moral of the story…suck it up and go work harder to pay for the things you want!
We lived in Oregon in 2021 and 2022 then moved back to North Carolina earlier this year. As part of the re-titling of our car in North Carolina, NC DMV required that we prove that our vehicle was insured on a specific date in February 2022. In Oregon we were insured by Geico, but on our return we changed insurance provider, not because we were dissatisfied with Geico; they had done nothing other than take our money and provide our paperwork. The document the DMV requested was an FS-1, which is a Certificate of Insurance, for that date in February. My wife called Geico and they would not provide the FS-1, which apparently could easily have been electronically transmitted. They must be asked for these all the time. Their refusal to cooperate meant my wife was fined $100 and made to look irresponsible. Why did they take such a petty attitude? Just because we were no longer using them? Now we are very dissatisfied.
Left Geico auto after 30+ years when they extremely raised my rates without any logical reason. Gave them a chance to reconsider and they refused. The longer you are with them the more they will treat you as a cash cow to be taken advantage of rather than rewarding you for your loyalty. A very poor business model. Also left their batched homeowners when I found they were using a formula which does not give the best rates to those with the best credit. I felt their formula was just another money grab. It's a shame but they are no longer the company I once knew and trusted.
I was insured with geico for almost a year. One day my payment was due they upcharged my payments due to incorrectly saying I obtained my license last year when I obtained it 4 years ago. I went from $50 to $300 per month because of their lack of research. I wasn't notified that they noticed this "issue" and would be up charging me either. Never again geico.
After having to change insurance carriers due to s move eyes GEICO is extremely corrupt.Insurance companies in the US are NOT regulated by the Gov.Why? They can make their own laws. They run America. But I got lucky.I was able after complaining about their horrible customer service staff,an extremely intelligent, caring and knowledgeable customer service agent.Important! She has been with the company 12 years.DO NOT TALK TO ANY customer service staff WITHOUT asking how long they have had their job.Their knowledge makes a BIG difference in helping you.
You can tell right away.
This company is a joke. Got into an accident with someone. There fault. Have the same insurance unfortunately Geico. It's been a week, no adjuster, paying for rent a car out of my own pocket. You know I tried to be nice and would have been very easy going through this process. But unfortunately with this company if you don't fight back they will walk all over you. So thanks to a lazy adjustor and terrible agent my lawyer will handle the rest. What could have been simply fix my car, just pay medical bills, will be much much more. I shouldn't suffer because your company is incompetent. So from here on out my lawyer will handle everything. Once claim is done I will be looking elsewhere, so will my family and friends. One accident will cost this company alot of money. Could have been solved with just doing your jobs.
Without much notice (a month before the next cycle) they raised rates by over 100%! That's insanity and people should not have to pay for others mistakes or because they have to pay more for their employees.
Hate hate hate. I've been with them for 3 years and I was paying $360 every month for full coverage. I just started school for dental hygiene, so I had to switch to liability to be able to afford to insure my car on no income. I was paying $74 a month for liability which I though was fair. Next month my monthly payment went up to $170. No accidents. No tickets. Nothing. I called to ask what happened and the girl just said "oh it's nothing you did, it's just inflation and also we keep up with the area you live in and of all that". First of all I live in the middle of no where. Then I asked if there was anything I could do because I couldn't afford that and I don't think almost $200 a month is reasonable for liability insurance and her response was to get renters insurance to get a dicount on auto, and I'd be paying more over all. Needless to say, I'm changing ASAP
Very bad car insurance company, no consideration for its client. Dont go there this company has 0 service.
Geico is the worst insurance company which customer service enforced the customer to buy the costly policy with the customer's agreement, and the customer service is urgly, requested the uility bill which utility company can't porvide at that moment. Geico is stupid, wrost service.
Keeps increasing rate even if you call to discuss, they do not care about you as a customer. Charges a cancellation fee if you end up having to change your service due to their fees. DO NOT USE. Will sound good at first and they *used to be a good company* but no longer! They just want your money and will get it however possible. I was a customer for 12 years and will never go back and will tell everyone else to stay away too.
1 star is too high. Geico attempted to cancel our HOI for illegitimate reasons, we had fought this issue and fought all the way to the Department of Banking and Insurance where the State took our side and made them reinstate our policy. Fast forward 1 year later when time to renew we made all the required changes their underwriting team requested and they agreed on said changes and planned to continue our policy. Now 2 months into our new policy term they cancel for no outward reason and when contacting all of their customer service departments no one can give me an answer and everyone is giving me the run around without any results. Save your money and shop elsewhere tons of other insurance companies to choose from that do not include this drama.
I went with out insurance for 2 weeks which in time I had not driven my car. I came across a decent quote from GEICO. And I took it. I had my policy start on August 20 the the day I got paid. I decided to go grocery shopping on August the 22 nf. It was later at night I then stopped at a car wash and detailed my vehicle end up some time between midnight and 1 am which made the date August 23rd. I was headed home whenA huge deer ran out Infront of me and hit my jeep. No cell phone service were I was at. And the deer dies. I was able to get my battery terminals attached back into my battery and try to limp it home were I could call. Three hours later I was able to get my jeep into my driveway. We're it is still sitting. I took photos of the scene and the later that morning in daylight. I filed a claim it's now been three weeks and one excuse after another. No adjuster has come to look at my jeep keeps asking for email photos time stamps. Past insurance proof. And still nothing. I can not drive my jeep the radiator is busted and there is no headlight and door won't open the whole way. Still nothing I have called and emailed. And still can't get anywhere. This is my only vehicle and they refuse to get me a rental. I have full coverage for everything but still not no response no actions. I am beyond upset why are any of us paying a huge bill each month to a company that does nothing. Might as well throw your paychecks out the window. Would give them negative one star if I would let me
IF you want to be scammed out of THOUSANDS of dollars, then I recommend using Geico. I have been a customer of Geico for 7 years and very happy with their car insurance, probably because I have NEVER needed to use it before now. I got into. Minor accident - photos attached and Geico found me at fault and somehow the damage to the car was $4000 worth of damage. Better yet - they don't notify me of this until 7 MONTHS after my accident, when they decide that my premium is going to go up $200. And even better - because I had been so happy with their services - I purchased on umbrella policy through them and at that time, due to changes require of my auto policy for the umbrella policy) ASKED the insurance broker if my insurance rate was going to go up for future payments AND WAS TOLD YES BY $6. IM SORRY. Unacceptable. Spent nearly 2 hours on the phone speaking with 5 different individuals and NO ONE could provide any assistance. And don't get me wrong - I understand having an accident leads to increase in insurance rates, but this minor accident does not warrant DOUBLING my insurance annually and NOT being informed about it, especially when I was speaking about cost of insurance wit an agent on 8/4/2023 RUN FAR AND FAST FROM THIS COMPANY!
Giceo made me pay 649$ a month and im a very good Driver this is confusing and Very Stupid! Everyone keep complaining the same thing gieco is bad!
Geico is a scam company, please do not believe what they said to you!
I was informed and confirmed by the representative on April 6 that adding an extra name into the same vehicle as me won't get extra charge and the price increased is because of National wide increases.
When I cancel the policy they said I owe the balance of adding extra name to the policy.
Informed that I had representative confirm with me that it was for National wide increase not for adding an extra name.
They said because they have provided the coverage they will need to charge for it.
Basically, doesn't matter how they clarify the quote or your billing even they have confirmed that adding an extra name won't have extra charge or they tell you the incorrect information in which they won't be responsible for it.
Even it's their fault you must pay for it because they have provided the coverage to you!
Be careful record every phone call if you are speaking with Geico.
Be careful and ask the details of policy in text as evidence.
Let me start by saying we have had coverage with GEICO for all of our vehicles for the past 31 years. This most recent claim was only the 3rd claim in over 3 decades. Our vehicle was struck from behind while at a traffic light (hit and run). The person was texting and the impact was tremendous. We used one of the companies provided by GEICO. The initial repair timeframe showed 9 days. We called on day 15 or so. We were informed that the painting was delayed due to the weather. We finally received the vehicle back after 22 days. The only repair was to paint (not replace)the bumper. Astonishing...22 days to paint a bumper. Ultimately, our credit card was charged $707 for the rental. We reached out to the claims adjuster Brianna and a refund check was mailed.
My husband was handwashing the vehicle 2 weeks later and discovered the rear drivers tail light cover was cracked. Obviously caused by the impact. We rarely drive the car as we have a company vehicle and an older SUV. We returned to the collision center (pics were taken), we reached out to Brianna and we were told to text additional pics, but no response, We reached out to customer service, posted pics and info on our online login and still it was only after repeated calls that Brianna finally responded stating..."I'm gonna say this was not related to the incident" because it was a "low hit". I was referred to and left messages for her supervisor Tyler Hubert and ultimately the representative even emailed Tyler's supervisor (Dane Palmer). We have not received a call back or email. Needleless to say it's time to look for another company to insure our 3 vehicle, flood insurance and now our umbrella policy... 372 months of monthly premiums and they have to ponder replacing a cracked tail light cover. SMH
Answer: Yeah, I just did. They were there for me when I needed them even though I had only the minimum coverage.
