I have relied on Gas Buddy to provide me with, in the past, outstanding and accurate gas price information. Since the new upgrade in Sept 2016, Gas Buddy is no longer a use full tool. They have removed "favorites", they have removed "Costco" and the "font is now too small" it is impossible to read in the car.
I am now looking to replace Gas Buddy.
There is on old saying, "if it is not broken, don't fix it". Gas buddy has to learn that. The old app worked perfectly and did not require a major overhaul.
Old app worked well at the intended purpose. New app is a classic case of mental masturbation on someone's part.
Might look good/work well in a marketing meeting but real world (being very charitable) the app is less than useless.
I've use the old app for over a decade. I've quit (over night) trying to use the app due to the micro give a sh*t attitude of the company.
I've been entering gas prices for 2 years and it keep shutting down my point scoring with no reason provided
My primary reason for downloading and using GasBuddy was due to the recommendation of a colleague. It is only *OK* because by the time it pops up an alert! Gas prices going up in xxxx! It is too late. The prices have already gone up. My colleague indicated it warned prices were "about" to go up... not that "Boy did you miss it! You should have purchased gas this morning... or last night!" Therefore, it might be useful for FINDING gas prices, but, not for finding out when they are going up.
I have used this ap for years and lots of miles. I report prices often but have to do it annonymously because I can't seem to keep a sign in. No matter it is still a great ap!
This site never allows me to post prices and the current ones are wrong for hours. It also will not let you log in no matter how many times you set up an account. I have correct prices since I am a manager at one of the gas stations. Hate the website.
Gas Buddy's original user interface had quite good human engineering, but the new user interface is so bad that it would cause the programmers to be fired immediately from any of the leading computer firms I worked for.
To gimmicky. Dont have time for the b. S. they come up with.an app for infantile minds
Well, first off gasbuddy.com does NOT work. All I wanted to do was get the gas prices in Idaho, which is the point of this website. But it DOES NOT WORK. Which defeats the entire purpose of this useless website. I want to to know who created this so I can send them 1000 rotting fish in the mail. With all due respect, fix your website. Unless you want the rotting fish. I know people. Thank you very much. Have a nice day, hope it isn't to FISHY.
Accurate prices no longer mean anything. It's all about awards and challenges. And using a smartphone app to text prices while driving. I can't imagine they'll survive.
According to gasbuddy.com, the last station in Simi Valley on my way to Santa Clarita stated the price for regular is $3.55/gallon. With gas light on, I drove there, paid $30. At the pump, I see $4.55/gallon! Too late for me to drive elsewhere. But... The kicker was. I added the price... and, hours later, it still showed $3.55. Today I can't find the station on gas buddy.com.
I found that gas station owners put fraudulent low prices on the app to get you to come in. That's a big waste of time gas and money. We need to find a way to control this. If we stop trusting this app, all is lost. It wastes a lot of our time!
When I installed this app I never really used it but since I ride around the city a lot with my husband and to Arkansas a lot I thought this would be a great way to post prices and have fun in winning free gas. So as I began to post prices I was ranked very low so I saw how good I was at posting prices and how quickly I rose up to the top ten, then the top 5 then I beat the #3 person who had been in that spot since last year. So I never had a problem posting prices and receiving points. After I beat #2 I started to notice that when I post prices at the end of the day the next day half of them would be gone. At first I didn't think of it so I continued to post prices now being number #3, #2 only had a 300 difference in my prices so I worked harder riding around the city posting more prices. I had just returned from Arkansas for the holiday and posted over 200 prices, the next day my prices had been taken, to almost half of what I reported while #2 prices kept going up, everyday the prices I post go down and his go up. Maybe this doesn't mean much to you, but if I am participating in an app posting honest prices I don't want my prices to be taken, nor be cheated as such as if I didn't report my prices. I have sent numerous of feed back messages to gasbuddy with no return call or email. I will continue to post negative comments because I think this is not fair. Give others a chance to win. I will not participate in an app that seems to be discriminating... yes discriminating... and yes I have my good reasons in saying this.
I've been a gasbuddy member for 9 years and it is going downhill quickly. Prices are often inaccurate, mostly due to cheaters wanting to raise their "top spotter" rank. Ads are taking over the site, to the point that you are actually awarded for watching extra ads. This site was great a few years ago, but now it has lost its purpose. It isn't about finding the best prices anymore, it is now about squeezing in as many ads as possible and posting inaccurate prices so you can see your user name at the top. Rather sad actually.
This is a great resource for finding the cheapest gas without driving around wasting your gas in search of the cheapest price. It's user-based so you can also help other drivers by updating station's gas prices.
At first I thought it was a great thing. Report prices, help people save money!
Not so fast! Gasbuddy runs a network that's outdated, slow, inaccurate. Their sole intent is to sell publicity. They built a all hierarchy using points as a reward, kind of addicting. One can spend a lot of time driving around and reporting prices in exchange for points, rankings and recognition. You can exchange your points for a chance of winning $100 worth of gas at astronomical adds. Now enter the idiots behind the desk that actually take away points recognition and rankings after they are awarded, using the inaccurate information they get from their slow archaic system. That takes away the pleasure of playing the game! So my advice is: to save gas, time and money pass this one up!
We use it regularly to find the cheapest price within vicinity of any planned trips (e.g. On way to a store, on errand, on way back from work). It is generally accurate, but I have some custom searches that I have found some inaccurate results (i. E. some retailers were missing from the results list). However, if you click through to the map, you can easily see the best prices in the vicinity of your travels.
The mods and owners have a anti ethanol agenda and when a pro ethanol person is trolled and just bullied they do nothing against the people doing the trolling and accuse the victim including lies about what posts is made for - you try to end all false accusations in a post by telling the truth and that is a bad bad bad thing but making false accusations and name calling and lying against a person that does not hate ethanol is perfectly fine and they actively censor out facts that do not fit the anti ethanol scare tactics - they have a agenda and screw all those that do not give in and defend themself
I use gasbuddy quite regularly, especially when travelling in our RV.
Quite reliable and updated daily from registered users.
I highly recommend this website for those looking for the best gas prices anywhere!

Answer: Nobody I know has ever won. I have been a member over 9 years and I've never won. I entered 103,000 points, 103 tickets, all at once the day after St. Patrick's Day and I didn't win. So the short answer is someone must be winning these things, but you probably have better odds with a lottery scratcher. I also find it strange that often times the winners are brand new to the website with low point totals and often stop using the website after they win, kinda strange.
Answer: I see lots of people here reporting issues using GB, but my wife and I have had nothing but good luck using it all up and down the east cost. No false charges, not wrong prices, etc. we try and faithfully confirm or correct any prices off, but that rarely happens and is only a couple cents here and there when it does. Happy user here! YMMV
Answer: I just used it for the first time and I guess I didn't read enough of the fine print. I was expecting to see the price drop at the pump, but instead I needed up paying full retail price at the pump and I guess the savings is supposed to come off the back end when it hits my bank. Not sure, but I can tell you this, that was my first and last time using the card. I would rather see my savings immediately at the pump than have to wait to hopefully see them show up in my bank account. Ill just continue to use my loyalty cards. I hope this helps!
Answer: I cannot currently imagine as to why the rating is so low. My experience has been perfect in South Florida so far. GasBuddy is always accurate, works great on my android smartphone, links up well with turn by turn audible directions to the cheapest gas station. Therefore I rated this app 5 stars and I never do this unless it always makes my life easier to manage day to day.
