The *******686 customer support number on the back of the card is never answered. I found two fraudulent charges that happened 500 miles from where I live on my card. I was never able to get a live person and I called continuously from the moment they allegedly opened until... I have left a voice mail and am supposed to receive an email response to my situation. In this day of technology what other reputable company handles customer service issues this way? Right, none. I suggest you use a credit card that offers gas discounts or points. Pay it off at the end of the month and you will be far better off than this inept company.
You should not need a driver's license or a credit card just to use GasBuddy that's stupid!
I signed up for the gasbuddy plus card. It has been two months and I never received the card. I sent a contact request via the ticket system on the website over a month ago requesting them to resend the card and did not get a reply. There is no way to contact them with any issues. They do not have a email or a phone number and will not respond to tickets submitted on their website. I have been charged twice for a card that I cannot use. The card only saves you $3 per month and I am at a $10 loss so it will take me 4 months to break even on this deal if they do ever send me the card. Very annoyed. Do not recommend.
I tried to use my Gas Buddy card for the first time today at a Circle K station in Sahuarita, Arizona. It was rejected with an error message stating that my bank was not on their list.
Customer "service" steadfastly refuses to answer my request for a second card for my wife. All I get is emails referring me to their useless FAQs.
Found no way to just get a discount on fuel. Inquiry was vaguely answered and required purchases of other things and another signup. Ended up losing all points unused. Would not recommend.
I had closed my Gas buddy account 1 year ago. This past week end I checked my checking account and saw that Gas Buddy withdrew money for the membership. I E Mailed them and asked to have the money refunded. I checked my Checking account Tuesday and the money was returned to my account. Even though they took the money out with in less than 1 week they returned my money and all was settled
I wrote to customer support about a couple things. They took so long to respond that I decided that they were just ignoring me. However, after an entire month, they decided to respond to me and say that they have been a little behind on responding. If you would like to save five cents a gallon then get the card. Other than that it is very difficult to contact anyone, or to get any rewards other than the five cents off. I originally enjoyed reporting prices, but there is little to no benefit in doing so. The only reimbursement for putting your time into updating prices is that you have the chance to enter a drawing that you will never win. I hope you can find this useful.
Never got the discounts that were advertised. I never got a $10.00 credit for purchasing a new Audible account. I sent 2 messages about not receiving the Audible promotion credit, and only received vague, comp[uter generated responses. The prices were often incorrect, which ended up costing more than the local average. There's no simple to track and compare the pump price with what GassBuddy randomly hits my card with.
GET THIS THOUGH! When I found the buried link to cancel my account, I got an email back that said the following.
"While you may choose to cancel your membership program at any time, your monthly membership fees of $4.99 will typically continue until the end of the annual term.
However, as a courtesy, we can cancel your monthly membership, and prevent future monthly charges. Your most recent withdrawal for your monthly membership will not be refunded, and you will not be charged for future months."
That's some sleazy business there.
I've been using Gasbuddy very regularly for about 7 years (including prior versions of app), and consider myself a loyal fan. I post prices every day, and always use it to find prices when in need of a fill up. Unlike many comments, I've found the prices to be accurate the vast majority of the time. My problem is that while it shows that I've actually earned several million points & dozens of 'Challenge Awards' life-to-date, and I've entered the 'free gas' card drawing regularly over the years, I've never won the 'daily drawing.' Do they automatically block certain names for some reason? Or do they even draw names daily as they advertise? After 7 years, I wonder...
I sent an an email to customer service and it took them 2 weeks to reply back. They apologized for the delay but never assisted me with my issue. I selected an offer on their app to receive $. 13 off a gallon and they only gave me $. 13 off my total sale. They won't even help me with their own error.
I just recently signed up in hopes to save money at the pump but what I've gotten instead is nothing but headaches. First when I got my card it took forever to activate and when it finally got done and I tried using it at a gas station it said declined. When I tried calling customer service I was on hold for 15 minutes just to be told that there hours are 8-8 which was ridiculous and when I tried calling again the next day during business hours the hold time was the same just to be told that they were very busy to call back later or send an email. I'm all set I'm having my card canceled... so to anyone thinking of getting the card don't do it it's nothing but a headache not worth it
I've used Gas Buddy for several years now, and have always liked it up until they redesigned their app a year or two ago and have also made their website useless in the process.
To combat people posting fake prices, Gas Buddy has made it so that any change in price greater than 5 or so cents won't actually post - even if the price actually DOES jump 20 to 30 cents overnight (which is way too often)! What's even funnier is that it'll even show that it's posted on the app, that is until you go home and check gas prices on your computer and see that it just reverted to the older price entry! So, what happens is the same incorrect price keeps getting resubmitted by the people who are sitting at home reposting the old prices for the points, meanwhile the system inadvertently blocks the good guy from making the CORRECT change.
Sadly, the app/website has been going downhill for a year or two now, and I don't think that's going to change.
Offered trial membership $1.99 and immediately stole $5 from my checking account charging me a total of $6.99. I will have my bank reverse it... DO NOT TRUST THEM... they will rob you 2
Well it's sort of a mystery/crap shoot on prices at the pump using gas buddy. Are users just making up prices to get points for reporting or station owners to get traffic?
So while GasBuddy can be a useful tool people find a way to make it useless. I have driven around looking for that amazing lower price too. Like all things that were cool "Internet" sites/apps, another just goes to $#*!.
BO starion on Maugans Ave. In Hagerstown, MD showed up in GasBuddy as a limited time discount of 17 cents/gal. I activated the discount, swiped my GasBuddy card (which is connected to my ckg. Acct. Debit card), but got no discount at all!
After a long road trip across the Mid-West all of a sudden fraudulent transactions from the Chicago area started showing up on GasBuddy. I called them and alerted them to the situation listing the three transactions that were in dispute. Unfortunately one had already gone through to my bank but the other two were suspended pending fraud review and I was told that the one that went through would be credited after review. Did not hear anything from GasBuddy until the two suspended transactions showed up in my mailbox again. When I called them I was told that these were not considered fraudulent and therefore I had to pay them. GasBuddy could not say why that decision was made or transfer me to their fraud unit. The CS agent said he would have someone contact me. That never happened. Now I am out almost $200. Kinda ruined any savings ever obtained.
Gasbuddy listed prices are 99% of the time wrong. I never saved money following gasbuddy listed price. EVERYTIME Gasbudy listed price says it's the lowest ends up being on average. 30 cents higher than listed. You're better off sticking to the gas stations you know.
If gasbuddy. Com actually made people use the app instead of posting on the web it would be much better. Currently people are posting prices on the web without ever leaving their home. The price they post is at best their best guess. If I were you, I would try any other place than gasbuddy. If you need assistance good luck getting help. Read on the web what others have to say abiut gasbuddy.
I have made several attempts for help regarding additional vehicles on log, but they keep disappearing with the entries. I can't get their help!:-(
I wish I could give 0 stars. I question the validity of the good ratings... Pay with Gasbuddy card is totally worthless to me. This company discriminates against the elderly, who aren't hooked to smart phones, but still use flip phones. You can not activate the card online because their web site doesn't work right. You need a smart phone to activate this card and their phone rep. Actually told me to use someone else smartphone to activate my card. That's not acceptable! How ironic that they expect me to keep up with technology,. When they can't even get their own own website. Right. WHAT A JOKE OF A COMPANY!
Answer: Nobody I know has ever won. I have been a member over 9 years and I've never won. I entered 103,000 points, 103 tickets, all at once the day after St. Patrick's Day and I didn't win. So the short answer is someone must be winning these things, but you probably have better odds with a lottery scratcher. I also find it strange that often times the winners are brand new to the website with low point totals and often stop using the website after they win, kinda strange.
Answer: I see lots of people here reporting issues using GB, but my wife and I have had nothing but good luck using it all up and down the east cost. No false charges, not wrong prices, etc. we try and faithfully confirm or correct any prices off, but that rarely happens and is only a couple cents here and there when it does. Happy user here! YMMV
Answer: I just used it for the first time and I guess I didn't read enough of the fine print. I was expecting to see the price drop at the pump, but instead I needed up paying full retail price at the pump and I guess the savings is supposed to come off the back end when it hits my bank. Not sure, but I can tell you this, that was my first and last time using the card. I would rather see my savings immediately at the pump than have to wait to hopefully see them show up in my bank account. Ill just continue to use my loyalty cards. I hope this helps!
Answer: I cannot currently imagine as to why the rating is so low. My experience has been perfect in South Florida so far. GasBuddy is always accurate, works great on my android smartphone, links up well with turn by turn audible directions to the cheapest gas station. Therefore I rated this app 5 stars and I never do this unless it always makes my life easier to manage day to day.
