I had tried some of the other companies that deliver all of the ingredients to make a meal, but found it still took 40 min to cook and 10 min to clean up. Freshly is perfect. It is a fresh prepared meal made of whole healthy food, but only takes 2 minutes to heat up. I was hesitant because I usually don't like meat heated in a microwave, but all of the good taste is preserved with these meals. So excited to have this option.
I love everything about Freshly. Great menu, great taste, and motivational/ humorous packaging... plus convenience!
Not having to think and plan what I'll have for dinner is a refreshing change. I have loved my Freshly.com meals so far.
The meals have exceeded all of my expectations. I have healthy food on hand that is ready in minutes! No more fast food. No more guilt. I also think they are a great value. The portions are healthy and satisfying.
Loved the convenience of having someone else cook, food I've tried has been delicious and look forward to my next delivery.
The food was mediocre at best... not one of the six meals made my taste buds dance... a frozen dinner from stouffers or Marie callendars would have been better...
I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and finding delivery services that cater to gluten free are really hard to come by so I was excited when I found Freshly. My order arrived fairly early, and everything seemed fresh and cold. I tried one for dinner and it ws good -- better than expected. My only complaint is that I would like to be able to have them for dinners 5-6 days a week but it seems like the food isn't going to be fresh for the enitre week.
We're so glad to hear that you're enjoying the service overall!
Yes the refrigerated shelf-life is going to be a bit shorter than say, commercial frozen dinners, etc. Since we don't use any chemical/artificial preservatives, it's essentially the same idea as if you cooked a meal yourself at home and stored it in the fridge.:-)
You can certainly freeze the meals if necessary--you'd just want to thaw them in the refrigerator prior to reheating!
Thank you so much for the feedback!:-)
I was pretty pleased with the food and have ordered 4 times from them. I still question the freshness of it but if they say it's and healthy I trust them. Their Facebook page posts promo codes, which I recently used. Every time I do it I confirm the price and the delivery date before I submit my order. They did not honor it when I got my credit card statement. I'm very skeptical since you can't review past orders online receipts. The customer service rep I dealt with online would not credit my money. I kept sending screenshots on how the flaw was with the promo code and they kept coming back with excuses. I sent 3 screen shots confirming all the error on their end. They would rather keep the $35 and lose me as an unhappy customer than continuing. Honestly had they resolved it I would have continued making orders. Michael Wystrach, if you're ready this please enjoy the $35 you got to pull over me!
Hi Neerav--so sorry for the issue with the promo code! I show that Colin replied to you earlier today regarding the investigation with the web team where we discovered that the site was indeed incorrectly stating the price with that code for you.
Obviously, we apologize for that oversight, but I'm pleased to see that it was handled effectively for you via that refund.:-)
I got Freshly for the first time because it was offering 50% off for the first order. I liked seeing that they gluten-free, paleo-esque meals, which basically means no bad carbs or added sugar. Meat, Veggies, and Fat.
When I got the order I liked how it was packaged and how clearly they explained how small an ecological footprint they are trying to have. I followed all their recycling recommendations for the packaging and have nothing left except food in my BELLY.
The fact that the food is fresh not frozen makes it sooooo easy to eat right away. (After 2 minutes).
Freshly is a good experience so far!
I had tried another prepared meal delivery service in the past and while the meals were healthy they tasted stereotypically so: sauces thrown over proteins that were dry and unappealing to hide them. Freshly is the complete opposite. You know if from when you open your first meal and find it looks fresh and appealing. The flavors are well balanced and compliment each other well, the vegetables taste fresh and the proteins are a nice texture and not overcooked from heating them up. You further enjoy the meal when you look at the nutritional information and see the low calorie count! The service is convenient and meals are shipped in an environmentally friendly manner. High recommended.
I tried this service because we are really busy with kids' activities at night. When we have to be out of the house by 5:30 and don't get home until 8 I was struggling with meal ideas. I got my first shipment last week and on those game/practice nights the Freshly meals have come in so handy. The meals are quick, healthy, filling, and very tasty. My husband and I were both really happy we didn't have to eat a quick sandwich and could eat things like meatloaf, turkey chili, and chicken breasts on the run. I was really happy I didn't have to come home late after games/practice and clean up a bunch of dirty dishes. Freshly was a great surprise and we are looking forward to trying more meals this week!
I am so happy to have found Freshly! As a super busy person working a corporate job and as a fitness instructor, I have very little time to prepare meals. Freshly gives me the ability to do what I love and continue to eat healthy every day. The presentation, taste, and quality is top notch!
Ordered from Freshly and have never been happier, easy prep meals that take two minutes, the food is so delicious that you will want more but the portions are prepped to give you a delicious but healthy balanced meal. My husband and I have made this part of our weight loss plan and it is really helping us to stay on track with our calorie intake goals. You gotta try it, the cost is no more than I would spend at the grocery store to eat healthy and I don't have to prepare the meals after a long day, who could ask for more?
This is one of the best prepared meal companies I have tried and that includes one that cost HUGELY more and delivered fresh, ingredient/weight conscious meal every day to my door! That's saying a lot...
When I heard Freshly was expanding into my city, I was excited. I have tried other meal delivery services in the past with so-so results, and I liked that Freshly sent you meals that were already prepared -- all you have to do is re-heat it and eat it. What could go wrong?
Try EVERYTHING.
Freshly sends you an email to let you know that your meals are shipping soon. However, this email doesn't contain any tracking information. When you go to the website, there's also no tracking information either. The only thing you know is the day your food is arriving (Thursday, in my case). I sent an email asking where my tracking number was, and I didn't receive a response until three days later. The response had my tracking number, but here's the thing -- the shipment was sent and left on my doorstep. Freshly is perfectly okay with sending an 18 lb. box of cooked food and leaving it on your doorstep with NO type of signature release. Had I known who the carrier was, I could have made arrangements in the event I wasn't home (which I wasn't). But because I didn't have that, the shipment sat outside for hours and was stolen. Unacceptable.
I contacted Freshly, who claimed the tracking number issue was some technical glitch; they eventually refunded me for next week's box of food (not the box that they already shipped). I was able to go to the website, choose the food, and submit my order.
I did receive this shipment, only because I had other packages coming that day from the same carrier. (Note: Freshly also did NOT have the tracking number for this second shipment. Noticing a pattern?) Freshly responded THREE DAYS LATER AGAIN, and included the tracking number.
Now about the food. I wasn't sure what I was getting in terms of portion size -- Freshly's photos only show you the food on a plate, not in the plastic microwavable tins they ship with. It would have been great had these meals come with oven directions though. I like the convenience of a microwave, but we all know that ten extra seconds can be the difference between ice cold and burnt to a crisp. All the meals require heating in a microwave for two minutes -- beef, seafood, chicken, and veggies. That made for some wildly inconsistent heating and some questionable textures.
Overall, I'm disappointed in Freshly. They still owe me for the first week of food they sent!
I'm so sorry to hear about your negative experience with our service! It's always unfortunate when there are issues with deliveries and we completely understand how frustrating it is when things like that happen.
Our web team is still working to get the tracking information updated to show on the Meal Planner (like it's supposed to), so I apologize for that inconvenience as well. It seems that the program we use for creating the shipping labels and tracking information doesn't "communicate" well with other programs, so it has taken them longer than anticipated. It's definitely something we want to get taken care of as soon as possible, because we know that information is vital for customers to have.
I'm sorry for the initial delay in our email response--I show that you received a reply in just one day the second time, however. To which you replied, "Thank you" indicating that you did receive the email.
We can provide oven suggestions if asked, however because our containers are not currently oven-safe we don't provide those instructions automatically (we wouldn't want anyone to mistakenly try to heat those containers, only to end up with melted plastic). We are actively working on finding a container that will be both microwave-safe and oven-safe, as well as recyclable.:-)
Apologies for any confusion regarding any reimbursement being owed to you--I show that you received one successful week of food (that second week) and ended up paying just the $30 (since you were refunded the $62.10). So you paid $30 (rather than the full $69) for one successful delivery.
Again, I'm very sorry that your experience was anything less than enjoyable, though we certainly thank you for trying out our service and for your feedback regarding your experience!
Been doing freshly for 2 weeks and as a parent of an infant and a 3 year old - I'm very happy with it - my husband and I joke that we may never cook again for the next 18 years!
The only improvements I would like to see is that 1) I wish they delivered earlier in the week or earlier in the day on Tuesday. It usually arrives pretty late on Tuesday. 2) the box it comes in and the ice packs are extremely heavy! I can't carry it up re stairs myself. There is just SO much ice. It seems over packaged to me, even compared to blue apron. I've used another meal delivery service who used half as many ice packs, as does blue apron. Seems like they could cut down on that - assuming it doesn't sacrifice freshness. 3) wish they had an app to manage weekly meals vs just a website.
Thank you for the compliments, as well as the feedback! :D We are certainly working toward having a great app to make our customers' lives even easier!
So sorry for the inconveniences with the shipping materials--we definitely want to err on the side of caution regarding the temperature of the meals, but are always looking into new, improved options for our packaging materials.
We have only had two dinners each but both were excellent. We will try the third one tonight... beef and polenta. I take them out of the package and heat them up in a dinner plate covered with plastic wrap. Just like a gourmet home cooked meal! Wonderful!
Signed up as reviews were promising.
Mistake #1 - food did not arrive on delivery date.
Mistake #2 - tracking of delivery took a day.
Mistake #3 - Email responses are slow, no phone customer service?
Mistake #4 - Food finally arrived and was inconsistent - some was tasteless and something else was surprisingly spicy (but not promoted as spicy).
Cancelled after 1 week -
Thank you again for the feedback, Pete. We truly appreciate it.
Apologies for the delayed response via email--we were a bit short-staffed for a couple of weeks but have since gotten new-hires trained and are getting back up to our standard response time. We do have phone customer service--the phone number is searchable on the Support Center of our website.:-)
I just want to make sure you got the delayed delivery issue resolved with our Customer Experience Team--if for any reason it was not resolved, please reply to my private message as I'd be more than happy to handle that for you!
Delivery issues are typically rare, but with working with third-party carriers we do sometimes see errors occur. We'll always do what we can on our end to resolve it for our customers!:-)
Thank you again for your feedback, it is much appreciated and will help us continue to evaluate our service and determine how we can most improve it.
The meals I have were great I needed this type of food service fresh cool portion yea love the taste
Answer: Hi Marc, Thanks for your inquiry! At this time we change one meal per week, typically. We will either remove an item and replace with something new, update the recipe on a current item or just add an item without removing one. As we continue to grow we will have plans to offer even more variety as well!
Answer: Hi Steven, Thank you for your interest in Freshly! We are a weekly subscription service, so you would be charged for, and delivered meals on a weekly basis. However, you can select to skip weeks, or cancel your subscription at anytime! These changes would just need to be made prior to your weekly deadline, which is outlined in your Welcome Email, Reminder Emails, and in your Meal Planner. I hope this helps!
Answer: Our meals are prepared and shipped out from our kitchen in Phoenix.:-) For Arizona deliveries we use FedEx.
Answer: The delivery window they give us is between 9am and 9pm. We package the meals to be safe for 2 days transit time, plus safe to sit outside for up to 12 hours upon delivery.:-)
Answer: Hi Nancy! We do not cook meals based on other programs' guidelines at this time. We're not overly concerned with calorie counts, but more concerned with where calories come from. Our meals are generally high protein, high healthy fat, low carb, low sugar. We use unprocessed ingredients free from hormones or added sugars, and never use chemical preservatives. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions at this time!
Answer: Hi Shawn W, That doesn't sound right! Please reach us at [email protected] so we can take a closer look at this!
Answer: Hi Joyce, Thank you so much for reaching out to us here at Freshly! I'd like to apologize for the delayed response! First and foremost, I'd like to inform you that we're a weekly subscription service, which means you'll receive meals weekly, and get charged weekly as well. Here are the steps to follow while signing up: 1 - Add your email address and zip code in the sign-up box on our homepage. ( www.Freshly.com) 2 - Pick your meal plan. Just keep in mind that our meals have a shelf life of about 5 days unless frozen. 3 - Pick your delivery day from the available dates! The specific day of the week will be your weekly delivery day unless changed. 4 - Select your delicious meals from our 30+ selections. 5 - Add your contact info, payment details, and delivery address.
Answer: Hi Gayle, Thank you for reaching out to us here at Freshly! You can certainly reheat our meals in a conventional oven, however, our current meal containers are not safe for the oven or stove-top, so you'll have to transfer your food to heat it up. First, preheat your oven to 350° F. Transfer your food to an oven-safe dish (don't forget to scrape the sauce out of the tray!) and cover the top in tin foil. Heat for 25-35 minutes, remove foil, and let sit 3-5 minutes, then transfer to your choice of plate or bowl and enjoy! (Keep in mind, heating times are approximate. You'll want to reheat the meal to an inner temperature of 165° F.)
Answer: Hi Angela, Thank you for reaching out to us here at Freshly! We use third-party carriers for our deliveries, such as FedEx in her area! We can deliver Tuesday-Saturday in Southern Illinois--deliveries can occur between 8am-9pm depending on the carriers route for the day. While carrier delays are out of the norm, weather-related issues, road closures, driver confusion, etc. can wreak havoc. We have a dedicated delivery team that works directly with our carriers to ensure successful deliveries, and we're always sure to compensate when delays arise. We certainly hope this helps! To view a list of currently available deliveries, you can enter your zip code at www.freshly.com!
Answer: I've been getting mine in on time, but I assume as with all packages going through USPS, UPS, and FedEx right now, things have been backed up since COVID and only getting worse. So it's not Freshly's fault even if they aren't delivered on time.

Thank you for trying out our service and for your feedback! I'm sorry to hear that you weren't satisfied with the meals overall, but of course we understand that they won't be to everyone's taste.
May I ask, what is the full name associated with your account? I'd love to properly record your feedback if you have more specific thoughts/comments on the meals, and also potentially get you at least partially reimbursed.:-)
