U just tried my first meal. Tasty, fresh, tender and unbelievably delicious. I am blown away. It took me 3 minutes and 30 seconds to heat it. Afterwards, I only had to wash a knife and a fork. I didn't have to use salt or any other spices. It didn't need it. Great job. Great client service and great packaging. TV dinner no more.
I really enjoy the plant-based part of the diet as much, or more, than the quality of the meat in this paleo-influenced diet. So far, so good.
I love the convenience of just popping the dinners in the microwave! Quick, easy, done. Even the husband can do it. Would have given five stars but have been a little disappointed in some of the sides. The main portion is always yummy.
Ordering is easy and it's pretty economical. A good number of the dishes we've received have been quite good. However, a few have been pretty awful, frankly. What I don't appreciate is the company's lack of transparency. They ask you to rate meals, but they don't show these ratings to consumers. I understand they might not want to expose the less-than-stellar rated meals because it would interfere with their plans for ordering, and quantities and what not, but a business should be driven by the needs of the consumer, not the needs of the business, and it's painfully apparent why they don't display their meal ratings. I'm finding that I'm going to be skipping some weeks or cancelling altogether because the rotation of meals is pretty slow, and we're getting tired of having the same dishes every week.
Freshly is a great way to have prepared foods that taste good. I highly recommend Freshly for anyone on the go or it is a great gift to send someone who is coming out of the hospital instead of sending a casserole.
Food comes packed perfectly & will last for hours if we are not home. It is nutritious, easy to heat up and most of the food is delicious.
My husband gifted me this when, as a new mom, I wasn't finding the time or energy to shop for or cook healthy new meals. I was drained on a diet of sandwiches and cereal as the only quick meals I could whip up in a hurry and eat with one hand. Freshly was the best thing to happen to me as a new parent since I could now have healthy, balanced, delicious and easy meals in under 4 minutes and delivered to my door! Flavors are great and so is the nutrition. I hope for a bigger variety of options in the future. Otherwise, I'm thrilled with things!
Freshly meals are far more expensive than the frozen grocery store meals. However, the nutrition profile of these meals is also far superior - where else can you buy an already prepared meal with 45g of protein and only 520 calories?!?!
Not all of the meals have been awesome, but there are enough really good ones that I like to keep several stocked in my freezer for those emergency times. I live in Portland but have vacation rentals 180 miles away. I drive to them often. Throwing a couple of these in a small cooler totally simplifies these trips and ensures I will have a healthy and tasty meal.
If you buy 8 at a time, the price goes down quite a bit. I order 8 at a time and only order once a month, so this keeps the price more affordable.
I'm not a fan of Frozen meals from the grocery, so I had high hopes for Freshly. I'm sorry to say that I bought the hype, and it was vacuous.
Before I ordered, I watched many YouTube reviews and I now wonder if they were mostly paid advertisements. The quality of Freshly meals certainly appears to be good. But I would say that out of the 18 meals that I received, 50% were sub-par.
I cancelled after the first order, and believed that the 2nd order would not come, but it still did. The average cost of all the meals was $8. If pitted against a food truck, for cost, it was a good deal.
Lastly, I believe that the quantity of packing materials is excessive. I'm sure that there is no easy way of overcoming this problem considering the nature of the product. But it was a major factor in my decision to cancel. The process of disposal is unreasonable. In fact I felt strongly enough that Freshly was not for me, before I had even tried the food, based on the packaging.
It was an okay experience, but like a dilapidated hole-in-the-wall restaurant with mediocre service and bland food, I will not be coming back.
Thank you so much for your review and feedback, Wes! I've sent you a private message, and I look forward to hearing from you so I can assist you further!
I love all the food and it is helping me to lose weight as before I lived on burgers and snack food. Thank you
As an older single living in a food desert these meals have been a godsend! Tasty, well portioned meals delivered right to my door! Saving money, eating healthier, love the sides and the proteins are perfectly cooked. Only complaint would be a little more variety, but I'm hoping that will come. Way better value than other meal delivery sites I've looked into.
Getting meals from Freshly has been great so far. I am not a huge fan of cooking, but I also don't like to eat out much for health reasons. Freshly has taken some of the stress off when it comes to meal planning, prep and cooking. I love that the meals are clean and healthy. I do wish they added new meals to the menu more often!
I've been using Freshly for about a month now, and I will keep using it to lighten the load around the house. I started it when both my wife and I had health issues that limited our ability to cook. I think I'll keep using it, because I like it.
While I didn't love every menu selection, they bat about 900, in my experience.
I get four of these each week. They run about 500 calories each, more or less and they are quite good with high quality protein. Very tender chicken breasts! Would like to see more fish, like tilapia or catfish.
I really like the convenience of super quick meals that are healthy. Additionally the variety is nice to not have the same thing every day. Downsides would be the cost at $10/meal, although that is competitive with other similar services, and even though there is variety within the week there is less variety between weeks and it can get kinda old.
I work full-time and commute 2 hours each day. I also have two furry children, one a puppy with tons of energy. I never have time to prepare and cook a meal during the week. I was getting sick of eating fast food or preservative filled frozen dinners. I tried Blue Apron but it took me over an hour to do all the prep work for those meals. Who wants to do that after a 10 hour work day!? I decided to give Freshly a try so I could eat healthier, but without all the work. After two weeks, I am very happy with the service. My food arrives exactly when expected. It's packaged well. The food tastes good, cooks up in about 3 minutes, and it's a great way to incorporate all kinds of veggies that I love but take too long to prepare. So far my favorite meals have been the beef chili, the shrimp scampi and the buffalo chicken. The chili is seriously so good. I'm having a hard time not putting it in every order. My only concern is that if they don't incorporate more options often, I could get bored with the food. We'll see how it goes after a few months when I've tried everything a few times.
Two of my orders I had to share with friends because I foefot to skip weeks I was traveling. I received rave reviews from them. They loved the meals. So do I. The meals are madw with whole foods without all the additives and preservatives found in conventional frozen food. This is as good as my home cooking with less clean-up. Also, I am single, cooking for one is didficult. Shopping for one is didficult. I feel like I waste lessfood and save money while still eating high quality healthy food my lifestyle requires.
I am very happy with choosing Freshly. All dinners so far truly taste homemade. My only complaint would be the overuse of the spice ( I believe it's) fennel. In some meals it over powers the taste of the food. This is just my personal opinion. The customer service dept is awesome, they bend over backwards to fix any issues that might arise.
What a pleasure to know all I have to do is pop the meals in the microwave and simply eat. I always plate the meals which just feels like homemade.
Food overall is very good and tasty, and arrives nice and cold on my hot, Texas porch when promised. Very impressively packed, with environmentally smart materials. I just wish there were more items to choose from on the menu. We are hooked on Freshly!
Answer: Hi Marc, Thanks for your inquiry! At this time we change one meal per week, typically. We will either remove an item and replace with something new, update the recipe on a current item or just add an item without removing one. As we continue to grow we will have plans to offer even more variety as well!
Answer: Hi Steven, Thank you for your interest in Freshly! We are a weekly subscription service, so you would be charged for, and delivered meals on a weekly basis. However, you can select to skip weeks, or cancel your subscription at anytime! These changes would just need to be made prior to your weekly deadline, which is outlined in your Welcome Email, Reminder Emails, and in your Meal Planner. I hope this helps!

Answer: Hi Nancy! We do not cook meals based on other programs' guidelines at this time. We're not overly concerned with calorie counts, but more concerned with where calories come from. Our meals are generally high protein, high healthy fat, low carb, low sugar. We use unprocessed ingredients free from hormones or added sugars, and never use chemical preservatives. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions at this time!

Answer: Hi Gayle, Thank you for reaching out to us here at Freshly! You can certainly reheat our meals in a conventional oven, however, our current meal containers are not safe for the oven or stove-top, so you'll have to transfer your food to heat it up. First, preheat your oven to 350° F. Transfer your food to an oven-safe dish (don't forget to scrape the sauce out of the tray!) and cover the top in tin foil. Heat for 25-35 minutes, remove foil, and let sit 3-5 minutes, then transfer to your choice of plate or bowl and enjoy! (Keep in mind, heating times are approximate. You'll want to reheat the meal to an inner temperature of 165° F.)
Answer: Hi Angela, Thank you for reaching out to us here at Freshly! We use third-party carriers for our deliveries, such as FedEx in her area! We can deliver Tuesday-Saturday in Southern Illinois--deliveries can occur between 8am-9pm depending on the carriers route for the day. While carrier delays are out of the norm, weather-related issues, road closures, driver confusion, etc. can wreak havoc. We have a dedicated delivery team that works directly with our carriers to ensure successful deliveries, and we're always sure to compensate when delays arise. We certainly hope this helps! To view a list of currently available deliveries, you can enter your zip code at www.freshly.com!
Answer: I've been getting mine in on time, but I assume as with all packages going through USPS, UPS, and FedEx right now, things have been backed up since COVID and only getting worse. So it's not Freshly's fault even if they aren't delivered on time.
