I use to order from FD all the time over the last 7 years; it was convenient, reliable and the food quality generally good—the convenience was worth the higher prices. Then Covid hit. No access to delivery slots during Covid even w/Deliver Pass & food quality slipped a lot. They seemed unable to adjust to the increased demands under Covid. I dropped them & they gave me rebate on remainder of my Deliver Pass charge. I found great options to replace FD, but decided to give them another try this Nov. Unfortunately, delivery service reliability is worse. I live in a doorman bldg & clearly declined option to "leave items at your door" because I'm always home. The delivery was running behind time, but even worse it was not delivered to my apt door but abandoned near the elevators. No one contacted me to let me know where my order was; finally it was discovered by a maintenance worker. All frozen food was melted & had to be thrown out. I will NEVER use FD again & advise you to consider other options—It's just not worth the disappointment, aggravation or cost even though their customer service did give me a credit for the damaged frozen items; a peace offering but too little too late because it means that the credit forces me to use the service one more time; frankly I don't expect an easy encounter.
Their service, products, and general reliability used to be top notch. I was a loyal weekly customer since 2013 but have recently made the switch to Amazon Fresh/ Wholefoods and oh what a difference! I made this switch after multiple late deliveries, deliveries that never showed up, terrible responses from customer service, broken and damaged products upon delivery, and on and on... I was a huge fan of FD and would have loved to stay with them but I simply don't have the time, nor the energy to deal with what may be a company that expanded but lost sight of its core principles for serving it's customers.
I had a great experience buying from Fresh Direct. I ordered a small standing rib roast and some veal loin cutlets, which I cannot find locally. Everything arrived fresh and exactly when promised
The roast was beautiful, and priced competitively. The cutlets were also nice. But the cherry on top was the $50 off coupon, which is such a nice bonus.
I will definitely shop here again even without the coupon.
I have been a customer since 2003. The quality of food is great and the service is excellent. The website is also top notch including the reordering option.
GOT ONE WHO TRIED TO SURF NEXT TO MY CAR ALMOST HITTING MY CAR, I STOPPED HIM AND ASKED HIM WHAT IS HIS PROBLEM, THE DUDE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN DRUNK OR SOMETHING, DIDN'T APOLOGIZE BUT IF HE WOULD HAVE HIT MY CAR, ALL HELL WILL BREAK LOOSE. I KNOW THE NAME AND HE WAS ONE OF A KIND. IM CALLING FD TOMORROW TO REPORT HIM.
Corporate/ HR doesn't conduct proper investigations towards mistreated great working employees based on the friendships that they have with some of their employees. And avoids racism in the departments. Dont work there. They are unfair. They wont even ask u what happened. They will just say we will call u back and they never will. Lucky for me im bartending now thanks to them. You guys choose favoritism over hard workers. You suck! Liars. And don't even follow work procedures. They'll walk around telling everyone to clean before the big people walk in. Everyone is not wearing a mask over their face either during work! Check the cameras.
The chicken in Blake's Chicken Pie does not taste like chicken. It is very hard and chewy and gross and is cut in very miniscule pieces. Should not have passed inspection for sales.
I have been using this service during the quarantine but I am going to continue to use it. The prepared foods are great and the produce is fresh and packed with care. I have had no problems with any of my orders and if I want to add to my cart, I hit modify and add new items. If you have used instacart, you will be amazed how much more efficient Fresh Start is.
I ordered $500 worth of frozen beyond burgers from them. They shipped them UPS ground (3-4 business days claimed expected time for shipping) under four separate tracking numbers with dry ice. Some 3/5 of the boxes got lost so far. Two boxes my doorbell cam shows ups trying to deliver today but their computer system wouldn't let them leave the package. UPS is a mess and freshdirect left no margin for error. I filled out a form days ago with freshdirect when tracking showed the packages delayed. Still haven't heard back. Couldn't find a phone number for help. Expecting $500 worth of frozen food to needlessly spoil. Will never try this again.
Used Fresh Direct 1 Time, so far the produce, meat, and fish were fresh.
The only thing I don't like is the fact that there are no dollar amounts on the labels, of the meats, fish, etc., only the weight of the item.
Anyone can change the weight of a item, unless you have a scale at home, how can you check if the weight matches the price, you can't., you have to trust them?
Anyway lets see what happens the second time around!
Unlike so many other providers, you can not change your order or add missing items. I had to cancel my order 12 hours before delivery and they charged 100% of the perishables and 25% of the non perishables! This company is anti-consumer and a disgrace.
The pictures on there trucks show people trained from Culinary schools pretty Chef coats! Web sites that give you a story about skills experience & background. In a pretty kitchen. Looks good for customers! But these PEOPLE NEVER HANDLED YOUR FOOD or packed 1 meal EVER. They work in a nice small kitchen make it. It gets sent to EXECUTIVE CHEF MICHAEL STARK. He sends it to his Top illegal alien Chef who gets it into production WITH 200 ILLEGAL ALIENS! NO PROFESSIONAL TRAINING.

I've been a Fresh Direct customer from its beginnings. While the company has experienced some hiccups along the way (as most any company does), I have to give them very high marks across the boardfor range of products, ease in shopping, delivery efficiency, and customer service when I have a problem. The website is easy to navigate and I can shop weekly in 10 minutes or so. What a timesaver! They have always been quick to credit me when I get a product that is damaged or subpar (which is rare). And they have good sales and deals and even freebies. Fresh Direct has long been and will continue to be my go-to market as long as they are around. Thanks!
I placed my first order, and they screwed it up. I spent 1 hour 20 mins on the phone with an offshore idiot who told me my options, none of which were helpful. I closed my account immediately and wont be back. The whole experience was unpleasant, the website poor and the customer service didn't give me any options which helped me at all. If you want a stressful experience I suggest you try shopping here.
I put an order today and wanted to change my method of payment but the website wouldn't take it on the phone or the computer and no one in the office, the five people I spoke to, could help me including Troy who was a mean and nasty person, I did the very best thing by canceling their service. I do not recommend their service, there's always something wrong with the orders I receive.
My wife placed order to be delivered Friday 12/6 between 3 and 6 PM. When food arrived for our party that was that night there was a busted bottle of wine so driver was told he couldn't deliver food to us. we had people coming over that night and all fresh direct coud say was sorry and give a store credit which we didn't want as we wanted credit back to credit card. We wanted food redelivered but they wouldn't do it so they took it upon themselves after being told we wanted everything credited back to our credit card to deliver again next day and take the store credit and keep the charges on our acct. We didn't accept order as i dint need it anymore as party was day before. I felt very cheated and taken advantage of. I felt fresh direct only cared about making the sale and not the customer. Also to try and make us take store credit after i told them no was like being forced to buy from them again and i don't ever plan on using fresh direct again. I find them unreliable very selfish and dont really care about the customer. Its taken numerous calls to finally have someone say they will finally give me credit to my card but will take a few days. Lets see what happens.
I had to run out before party to get whatever i could my friends were disappointed with things till i got back with what i could but i shoud never have been forced to do this. As far as i am concerned i will NEVER EVER use FRESH DIRECT again not with there kind of service. I should also state this had nothing to do with driver this problem was all management.

Thanksgiving 2019! Ordered last minute, and they made great effort to get it here ON TIME (Thanksgiving morning) packaged very securely, everything was fresh, directions clear and the FOOD WAS AWESOME! THANK YOU TO CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS RIVER AND KELLY FOR MAKING EVERYTHING JUST PERFECT! (note: I was unable to upload my photos of dinner, but not only was it delicious, it looked beautiful as well!)
Don't do it. The food was delivered late and went bad and I could not even eat it. Waste of money. I think it's safer to just pick out your own food because you never really know what you're gonna get with this
***I got a little black MOUSE delivered with my groceries! *************************************************************** In June, I got a coupon from FD and placed an order. My grocery arrived in 2 cardboard boxes and one reusable FD bag. My husband brought them into the kitchen and my friend and I started unpacking. In front of all 3 of us, a small black mouse jumped out of the cardboard box containing the farm direct produce! It ran faster than any of us could react and hid behind the dishwasher. We laid down glue traps and made a make shift barrier so it does not come out of the kitchen to the rest of our living space, not knowing that it can clime. I contacted FD and for a month and a half they dragged the issue responding. I sent numerous emails, talked on the phone to no avail. Finally an executive named Mike spoke with me. He was very respectful and he said, I won't deny your claim if you don't deny my mine! I promised him. He said that they keep their facilities very cold to prevent mice infestation. He said that they NEVER SHUT OFF THEIR REFRIGERATED TRUCKS... EVER! It costs them an extra million dollars a year. He offered me $100 in grocery credit but I explained that I am not bringing this up to get free groceries but since our efforts to catch the mouse have failed we need to call in an exterminator. He said I'll get back with you later today. Our second phone call with Mike was a very different experience. He was rude, nasty and confrontational. He called me a liar and said that it never happened and I made it all up! I hired an exterminator who came, caught the mouse and I could finally breath. I sent them the exterminator bill which was only $125 but they never responded. The insult from Mike was the last conversation I had. Be careful what you get along with your groceries. I also think EPA should look into them never shutting down any of their refrigerated fleet! The extra carbon dioxide emission must be astronomical
Answer: Legit! I've been buying my groceries from them for 2 years with barely any issues. Prices are great and food is always fresh.
