I was promised a full refund by a freelancer in exchange for a 5-star review — a clear violation of platform rules.
I refused to fake a review and opened a dispute through Freelancer's system. The result?
Even though the freelancer failed to deliver the promised work — which was obsolete, useless, and delivered months late — I never recovered the full amount I paid.
I lost 750€ and more than 2 months of my time. To make it worse, Freelancer.com won't even let me leave a public review to warn other clients.
The funds were released before the work began, yes — but what's the point of using a "secure platform" if it doesn't protect you when there's clear abuse? The platform did nothing to correct this serious misconduct.
I trusted their system to protect me as a client. It failed completely. Avoid Freelancer.com at all costs — especially if you're a serious client expecting professionalism and accountability.
