On 9/16/15 I booked with an online company who works with Fligthcar. That company confirmed with Flightcar, took my deposit, and sent me email confirmation of the rental car I was supposed to have. When I arrived on 10/10/15 and followed the directions I had been given in order to pick up my car, I was notified by Flightcar that they cancelled my reservation, and that they rescheduled it with another company. I was not once notified of this change in the month prior to my trip no call no email. I had to find out the day I arrived and when pricing of rental cars was way up. My reservation was for no more than $40 and I ended up having to pay $160 for a car elsewhere. Not to mention the 3.5hrs I had to hangout at the airport trying to get a rental car figured out last minute on my day and a half vacation.

Then when I call and ask to speak with a manager to complain no one was ever in. The excuses I received from their employees were ridiculous, and one even told me they rescheduled at a new location out of courtesy for me(ANNA). NOT! Courtesy for me would have been contating me and letting me know of the changes well in advance to give me the opportunity to check elsewhere. Then the next excuse I was given was that they didn't have any of my contact information. The funny thing is that when you are working with another company (Economybookings.com) they have all of that informtion for you.

Regardless of whatever excuse they gave me there was no excuse to cancel my reservation without my knowing. Please do not waste your time booking a thing through this company here. It will be a complete waste of your time, and when you arrive for your stress free vacation be prepared to not have your car there and stress out.

My review is for lending your car to Flightcar. Their customer service is frustrating and totally disorganized. I had to email 4 times to get the fines on my car taken care of. I had to email more than 4 times about the damage done to my car and 2 months later it has still not been solved. It is not worth it, it was a really frustrating experience. I do not recommend you lend them your car and I cannot imagine renting from them will be any better or easier.

Here's a problem with the sharing economy that doesn't involve lobbying groups and law suits over labor and fee dodging: Flightcar is pissing off it's customers who were big proponents. My Acura TL was totaled while it was being rented to Flightcar on 9/2, I returned from my trip on 9/9 to pick up my car and was given no notice. That's 1 week since the week. In fact, they even tried to lie about what happened to my car saying they accidentally extended the rental. After pressing them for info, they admitted it was in a tow yard but insisted they had no other information. I found out after receiving a letter from the police department that it was involved in a hit and run. Since then, I've gotten the run around, getting pushed to different people, and received not a single cent of reimbursement for my car nor rental car I've needed since my car was totaled. It's now over 6 weeks and counting. People I've dealt with suddenly gets fired, and I can't get anyone to call me back. This is the type of company Flightcar is if anything goes wrong. Completely not worth the risk! Maybe this startup should focus on taking care not to turn their advocates into their critics, and maybe the investors should pay some attention to how the company is being run.

HORRIBLE ORGANIZATION
October 15, 2015

I signed up for the month to month program and decided it was not a good idea after seeing a few reviews! I finally elected to do it and registered for my car to be on the monthly program till I returned in December (2013 VW Passat).

The drop off was a nightmare and come to find out they don't drop you at your terminal they take you to the rental car terminal at DFW (Dallas Fort Worth).

The paperwork said I could pick my car up when I needed so I made arrangements (It took 14 phone calls to finally get my car) at one point they said they did have my car keys, Then they said a manager took my car to get an oil change (NO OIL CHANGE WAS DONE AND I WAS NOT REIMBURSED FOR THE TIME THEY DROVE MY CAR). They put me in a (Like vehicle for the night) if you can call a compact small car comparable to my large VW Passat!

Then the kicker like an idiot I dropped my car back off and left town!

I receive and E-MAIL WITHOUT ANY NOTICE! That they are no longer doing the monthly guaranteed $325 a month program and I have 7 days to pick my car UP!

I AGREED TO LEAVE IT WITH THEM TILL DECEMBER SO NOW I HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO GET MY CAR PICKED UP OR THEY RENT MY CAR OUT WITH A REIMBURSEMENT TO ME OF. 10 Cents per mile or $7.50 a day for the first 75 miles?

WHY THE HECK WOULD I DO THAT?

AVOID THESE PEOPLE!

I made reservation with FlightCar! Rental car through EconomyBookings.com. Upon arrival on Aug 02,2015 I was redirected from FlightCar! To Fox rental car company because FlightCar! Was out of rental cars. The conformation number is: *******@*******@079. FlightCar! Promise to reimburse us for the difference in the price.
First e-mail they ask for the receipt. 14 Days later I informed them that I didn't get the reimbursement. They apologized and told me that one of my paper was not submitted correctly by one of their members. And again they Promise to pay the different amount back. 20 days after I e-mail FlightCar! To let them know I still didn't get anything in the mail.
Their answer: "Right now our finance team is backed up. I have sent them an email asking them when will this be sent out. Once i hear from them I will reach out to you" Chris Thomas. 10 Days after I e-mail them again because nobody reach me. Their new answer:
Hello Chris-
Thanks for your email. I apologize for the inconvenience with this reimbursement request; however you will need to contact Booking Group directly concerning this issue since that is the company through which you made the reservation. We have received information from Booking Group that they will refund customers for their reservations.
Booking Group may be reached at *******938.
Thank you,

Brian

It is all FlightCar! Fault.
It's been two long months. Still waiting and fighting. Never give up…….

Awful experience.
No paperwork to prove cars was not stolen.
Short mileage 100/day is a joke. If you go over they charge you 0.5 cents per mile!
There were shoes and things from the owner in the car.
Used it only one day due to above issues, no reimbursement for the other days even though staff said it will be reimbursed.
Now they said I had to notify them 48hrs before.
And also now I'm receiving new promotion emails and phone calls since I rented with them!
Not worthy, SCAM

SCAM. SCAM. SCAM..
October 6, 2015

We had booked a car with Flight Car through booking.com, they had gave us our confirmation number for the car. We flew from MN, arrived in Seattle, WA. When we got there and called Flight car for our rental, they told us they gave our car away and redirected us to Budget car rental which was $250 more than the price we booked. They said they would pay the DIFFERENCE in price. 6 phone calls and 4 emails later, we got no answers on getting our reimbursement. We will NEVER book with this rental company again. It's a SCAM..

SCAM! Stay away!
September 28, 2015

Cheap-O-Air bundled this rental car agency with my flight from Roanoke, VA to LAX. When I arrived at LAX they said they had no cars and that they moved my reservation to another company. And then they wouldn't pick me up! They told me to take a taxi and send them the bill for reimbursement. At this point I figured something wasn't right but I went to the "other" agency (Economy) for the car that Flightcar had reserved for me with them. It went from bad to worse - they would not honor the booked price and wanted to add an additional $200 deposit. I then called Flightcar again and asked if they would have a car for me the next day. They told me to call in the am. I called and they still had "no cars". Yes - this is a scam to take advantage of you when you are already vulnerable. I called Hertz and got a Fiat 500 for just $40 more than the price I had booked with Cheap-O-Air. I'll never stray from Hertz again!

The first time I rented out of SFO in May 2015, I had to wait an hour to get my car and then I had a flat tire within miles of leaving, called to discover they provide no assistance with a flat, your responsibility! Then it took over an hour on the phone days after returning the car to get them to refund the $300 damage deposit.

There customer service reached out and asked me to consider renting again as they had some growing pains. UNFORTUNATELY, I decided to give them another try. Up in landing, they were quick to pick me up but it again took close to an hour to get the car. Fuel was almost on empty and I picked it up at midnight. Went right to my hotel, drove it to a meeting the next morning then stopped to get gas, the car won't start after filling it.

Brake warning lights come on. Call it in at 9:19 pm, someone is supposed to contact me in 5-10 minutes. 20 minutes, no call back. Finally get a text tow truck to arrive at 10:30. Text every ten minutes after I text, no tow truck. Finally get a response, delayed. Tow truck arrives 11:20 pm, TWO HOURS after calling. Has to tow me from San Jose back to San Francisco Flight Car office.

Oh, btw, if you try calling customer service after 11 pm, that are closed. Texted and received response I would need to talk to customer service! Arrive San Francisco rental office at 12:05 am.

Arrived in tow truck, staff knew nothing about the vehicle being returned, received a call after I was there. They have no cars. Sending me back to the airport at 12:40 am to PAY for a rental with Budget with the promise that customer service will work things out in the morning. There onsite guy was very apologetic and compassionate, but there was no manager on duty so couldn't do anything but put notes in the computer.

1:10 am I depart airport in a Budget rental car to drive back 40 minutes to where this began at 9:15 pm. BTW, the rental was cheaper through budget.

Total Scam
September 21, 2015

Maybe there's a good idea in there. But the reality is that these guys are a front for other car rental companies. They make you think you found a nice upscale car, for a reasonably low price, and you get a reservation confirmation email... then you get there and they say there aren't cars available (even though the site would still list plenty of cars available-- I can only imagine they are ALL FAKE. Same concept as dating sites: Lots of stock photos, no real people--or cars in this case.) Then they refer you to another car rental company with a promise they will refund the difference between what you have to pay for the other car rental, and the (low) rate that they had quoted you for their car. Then they not refund the difference between the rate they quoted you and the the car rental company's much higher rate, as they promised. (it's been two months. Still waiting.)

CONCLUSION: TOTAL SCAM. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Note: As of Sept 28,2015, I did receive the check mentioned above, FINALLY. It took over two months, and plenty of ridiculous back and forth with the company. I suppose perseverance paid off in this case. I'm not sure if their process is really that glacially slow, or they were hoping I'd just go away and they wouldn't have to pay out what was due. In any case, the whole thing is ridiculous and I find nothing trustworthy about this company.

Avoid Flight Car!
September 9, 2015

Too bad, I could not have been able to select "No Stars." I made reservations (7/20/2015) with EconomyBookings.com, that is with a "s". Avoid this web site, too which is not related at all with EcomonyBooking.com without the "s". Got to the airport in Seattle (8/4/2015) and no car. Flight car made a reservation with Alamo. That reservation was more than Flight Car had negotiated. That reservation was cancelled. New reservation with Hertz. Had to go to Seattle via Uber. No car at Hertz, despite reservation. Back to the rental car facility via Uber. Thrifty reservation confirmed at a cost of $509 which was twice the original reservation. Flight Car was to refund $200 toward this rental. Sent picture of receipt on 8/11/2015. No refund and it has been almost 30 days. Been getting the run around. Apparently, the refund has to go through two levels of approval, before it can be approved. I doubt I will get any refund at all. Disappointed with Flight Car. Without a doubt, we will NEVER rent from these Flight Car again!

Update as of October 19,2015: Flight Car came through with a full refund and not just the $200 that was suggested after more than 90 days. I will have to give Flight Car credit for coming through on the "promised" refund. Although I am quite happy to have gotten a full refund, I don't think I would recommend them at this time. The business model does not seem to be viable or sustainable long-term.

I rented a 2008 Prius in July in Los Angeles and the car was okay-did not like driving around a 8 year old car, when it was not much more to rent something new from the real agencies. I went to the gym and Best Buy one morning and the car did not start when I came out. They take a special charge and I waited an hour for a service truck to come and tipped him $20, since I assume that the rental agency pays for their cars screwing up. I returned the car on schedule and it had worked well the rest of my time there. I just recently was charged $63 jump fee one month later, on top of the rental price and insurance I had paid. This is ridiculous and no reputable company would have charged this. I did not leave my lights on or cause this problem in any way and I am being charged for it. Beware all and I would never use them again and certainly would never recommend this company. Go with a bigger company and get the newer car and service we should all expect when we rent a car!

Scam
September 4, 2015

After we landed in Austin, and hit the pick up button on the app, we were told there was no current reservation. Called the number and were told we had a reservation at Dollar. Got to the counter and it was closed. Called again, and were told to find our own car. We prepaid for this poor customer service.

No integrity
September 1, 2015

Flight car does not adequately disclose that they charge a $300 deposit, that they rent high mileage cars - mine had 126,000 miles, that they limit mileage to 100 miles a day and then charge 45 cents a mile. They do not disclose that they do not pick you up at the terminal. They use cell phone lots, airport shuttles, and unmarked cars. If you are at all concerned about your personal safety I would not recommend them. They do not maintain their cars. They don't even wash them. I had to jump my car twice because it would not start. When I checked in there were two other people with me. Both of them canceled and went elsewhere when flightcar told them about the mileage cap and the charge for excess miles.
Executive summary: unsafe and unreliable.

Everything was a scam, the office and the car were not at the airport, they never pick up us, I had to take a taxi, at the last minute they change the rental conditions adding $$ per mile, the type of vehicle that I reserved with a month in advance was not available, their solution was to cancel my reservation, now there is nobody to talk about my money. Horrible experience.

Rented in Austin
August 6, 2015

Terrible. Went to pick up a car and one wasn't available. They offered to pay the difference after a extended negotiation. The booked a car 26 miles away. We have an infant we weren't going to ride in a cab for that long with. Finally got one set up after 6 hours of negotiation and a miserable baby. 4 months later, 10 emails, 10+ phone calls, zero call backs and a new rep that "just started" every single time later we finally got our money back. Good idea but a terribly run company with heavy turn over. Not worth the small difference in price.

I got connected with the company through CheapOair.com (terrible customer service there and would not use other than to look up rates). I got an email confirmation about my FlightCar that was vague as to where the car was and how I was going to be shuttled to it. I had to dig to find their number and finally got picked up and taken to the lot. I picked a car. Options were limited and it had lot's of cosmetic damages and was told the radio didn't work. Not given any record of this information. At the time I had not read the reviews and assumed this worked like a regular rental and that they were keeping track of any defects. Started driving and the sun visor kept drooping down and the windshield was dirty. I tried to use the wipers but they were so poor it made it dirtier and I could hardly see with the sun glaring. Other than that the car worked fine. I returned the car and attendant took photos all around. I asked if she had record stating that radio didn't work because I didn't want to get charged for it. She said they don't keep records of that? Now I'm worried that I won't get my deposit back.

The best thing was the price.

I love startups but this is not well thought out. I guess that's why rental companies have to charge what they do. It costs money to provide consistent service, documentation and reduce liability. I hope they get it together.

I am pretty trustworthy and decided to try FlightCar despite negative reviews. NEVER AGAIN.
Reserved 7 passenger "Suburban or similar" for family vacation. Boston - Logan Airport, approximately 1 month in advance. Given a little 4 passenger Honda Element. Rep at desk statements deteriorated from "Not our fault, you worked through an on-line service", to "we can't control cars that we get" to "take it or leave it'. Offer to bring me back to to airport late at night July 4th Holiday time was no help as at last minute over Holiday there were no rental options. Asked for supervisor - none available. She promised to report issue and have someone call me. I am still waiting... This caused us to borrow and use other family vehicles, using more than one at a time as planned... Imagine if I had no family in area... Not even an offer of a price adjustment given the fact that we were given a vehicle that carried 1/2 of our family...
