I saw a flight that was £497 on faregeek – all other sites had prices of £890 or more. After reading some of these reviews I thought I would ring before booking as it seemed too good to be true. I spoke with a consultant and asked him about the fare. He said the only fares they had in the system for my route were £954. I asked why the site still says £497 if this is not the price. He explained to me that they do hold limited inventory at the lower prices, but then it takes a while for the prices to update on their website once the cheap flights have sold out. I said that's funny, because I thought the internet was instant, I don't think he got my jokes.
Anyway, point being, the prices are real, initially, they will have limited flights at lower prices, I'm guessing to fill empty flights. But then this stock sells quickly and they will let you buy online at the ‘lower' price even when they don't have that stock available. Be smart – call first and ask them if they have availability at the cheaper price, then book. Hold time was only 10 minutes – which is not too bad. They guy on the phone was a $#*!, but I did get my answer.
NEVER USE FAREGEEK.COM! This travel site is an absolute scam. They are rude and disrespectful, argumentative and made numerous harassing phone calls when I wanted to cancel a proposed reservation. They claimed to be United Airlines representatives and proceeded to quote a fare $2400! More than the one I finally booked directly through United--citing 'expensive taxes and fees.' I do quite a lot of business online and I have never been so insulted and offended. I cannot believe Faregeek.com is operating such a fraudulent scam masquerading as a travel agency. BEWARE!
Booked flt on line. Their site put me into charlotte not charleston. I called them within 5 minutes of booking to end up on the phone over an hour and a half. Flt to Charleston was accually cheaper, however they wanted to charge me 170 dollars to change ticket even if it was no fault of mine. They are very rude and and requested information from me that was sensitive data. They finally canceled my flight which had not been booked yet and ONLY CHARGED me 75 dollars! They did force me to email them that I agrred to fee or they would not refund any of my transaction. (My card had not been run yet even.) Will never do business with these people again. They were not willing to give me any information about the company, CEO, SUPERVISOR ETC.
I was interested in buying a ticket for someone who was supposed to be travelling a week from the date that I bought the ticket (via card details on their website). I did not receive any confirmation about the ticket purchase so decided to call them, once I got through they came up with a long story about me needing to validate the card by scanning it to them via e-mail. Obviously, I didn't do that and told them not to bother with continuing the transaction so went onto another website to buy a ticket. I ended up getting charged by them for the ticket that I wanted cancelled so now had paid for 2 tickets! They took over a month to give me the money back after I called them every single day on average for 30 - 40 days. Morale of the story: stay as far away as possible!
I booked my trip got to the airport did not have checked baggage included and I had to pay an extra 200 dollars to check my one piece luggage. Don't book with faregeek run away from this company
If you're debating booking through these wastes of space don't bother. In fact run the other way. You're better off paying extra to book through another company, because these swindlers are probably going to find a way to rip you off anyways. Worst customer I've ever received in my entire life, and I assure you, as I've worked in customer service before, I try to be extra nice to customer service reps. Didn't matter. These jerks were literally so rude to me they left me in tears. Also they lied to me on various occasions, and if I could find a way to charge them or anything like that I would
They only cheat customers by their wordings, no customer service they charge for each services which is free to other agencies. THINK TWICE before using it.
I tried to change my flight (within 24 hours) to a cheaper flight that left a few days later. I did not receive the difference in flights and they charged me an additional $300! They do speak English very well and it's hard to understand them. I tried to fight it but they were extremely rude and stubborn. Never again will I book from them!
I made a booking mistake that I noticed immediately and requested help looking at it. Their website claims emails will be addressed 24/7 within 10 minutes. It's the next day and I still haven't heard anything. Now the seat sale is over and it will be double the cost :(
I booked 2 tickets from Vancouver to New York 2 days ago. Right away, I got an email with a confirmation number. Today, I got a call from someone while I was at work. I had 3 missed calls and a voicemail msg. I could barely understand the guy's msg... he didn't indicate that he was calling regarding my booking and he mumbled something about a website that I couldn't make out. I tried calling him back but it kept going to his voicemail so ultimately I thought its a telemarketer. This evening, I had a bad feeling and was still waiting for my e-tickets so I decided to call fare geek and find out when I was going to get my tickets. The guy had an indian accent and put me on hold, comes back and tells me my flights have been canceled. I was like how are they cancelled when I still see the airline has the same flights... he keeps telling me the airline cancelled the tickets. No apology, a liar and downright rude like I was wasting his time. I was furious and demanded to know why I didn't get a notification. He said they contacted me earlier and left me a voicemail. I told him I didn't understand a word in the voicemail and tried calling back with no luck. After I hung up with him I get an email saying my flights are cancelled. Worst service of my life. Tickets have doubled in the last 2 days but luckily I got reasonable tickets after cutting my trip shorter and having a mini breakdown. Stay away from this agency.
Incorrectly billed 2% more than my bill. Not significant but inaccurate and deceitful.
Terrible customer service.
I booked a trip to Europe with them. I opted into getting travel insurance and paid extra $50 through faregeek. 2 days later insurance provider charged me separately and insurance now totalled to $100. Insurance company advised me to deal with faregeek. I contacted faregeek and requested a refund a month ago. I have yet to receive it. FTC is now aware.
I wrote them several emails and they didn't get back to me at all... on their website they claim to get back to you "within 10 minutes".
I called them and the guy on the phone, who barely understood my situation (guess I had the same experience as others), couldn't offer me any affordable option.
He wanted me to pay $600 to change a flight - on their website, the exact flight cost only $60 more.
Doesn't make sense to me.
I will never use FareGeek again. I made way better experiences with Expedia, Orbiz, and Skyscanner.
Terrible customer service!
I looked around and found that Faregeek's prices were slightly cheaper than anywhere else, so I booked 2 tickets through them. Only to find out my credit card was charged way more than they advertised, the regular flight price of the airline. I've emailed them, and called them 3 times for a refund for the difference in fares, the first 2 times they told me it would happen in 7 days, and the third time they told me to email, which I already did and never received a response to. Their call centre has no idea what they are doing, and it takes far too long to explain your situation to them, awful customer service. STAY AWAY!
Faregeek are thieves. I booked out of LAX British air. Received a phone call saying it would be an american airline flight. They completely misrepresented. I cancelled and got charged $175 for cancellation which I was never told about got into a huge argument with someone named "falcon" and he said there are no supervisors. I will keep trying to get my money back or small claims court but beware. It was off of Momondo.
Had my confirmation email in 1 hour but ticket took over 24 hours. A good deal but confused by these reviews? Just check with your airline if your tickets valid.
I cant believe the American system allows jerks like this to scam people and can get away with it. I purchased my ticket from these ""faregeek suckers to see my dying father in London. They emailed me at the last hour to tell me my ticket is been cancelled. I spent almost half a day trying to get to talk to someone by phone. Then this Nigeria-like sounding guy finally picks up the phone and tells me to contact the airline then hanged up on me. They didnt take my money out though but what a disappointment? I had to buy another expensive ticket to make it to London by then my father was dead. They have to be stopped!
I found a flight on Skyscanner, and was redirected to FareGeek. Made the booking and promptly received an email with an air reservation (PNR) number and "confirmed" booking status. 10 days later I received an email stating "Your flight was successfully cancelled" - booking status: Cancelled! I got on the phone and after 30 min on hold reached an agent. The guy stated the fare had changed by the time they attempted to ticket with the airlines. He insisted emails were sent on 2 occasions to notify me... b. s., the only email I received was the confirmation followed by the cancellation notice. I spoke with the "supervisor" and his resolution was to rebook another date at higher fare.
A 10 second search on Google for "FareGeek reviews" would have saved me hours of grief and the extra $$$ to rebook the long haul flight on short notice.
Phone times are too long but fares are cheap. Mine was $56 cheaper but add on my phone charges and I think its less. My e ticket came on the 2nd day so no need to panic straight away. Just double check with airline to be sure. Good luck and happy hunting.
Like many others on here, Faregeek cancelled my flight two days before my trip for no reason. I turned up at Newark airport at 5am, having paid $60 for a cab from Manhattan, because the trains don't run that early in the morning. Went to check in, to be told there was no record of my booking. Tried to call Faregeek - no response. Turns out they cancelled my booking two days ago for absolutely no reason (the flight still exists)! Ended up having to rebook with a different airline. I've never experienced such terrible customer service, ever.
Answer: Stay away, look at my review. These guys are crooks
Answer: Sorry to hear about your mother Laura. We should all report them!
Answer: It depends on the airline not on fare geek, but don't book with this company if you can manage not to. They are literally liars, and I hope I don't run into Yu's problem because I just cancelled my flight with them.
