This company is a joke. I ordered through Amazon, fabric.com being the 3rd party seller. The BLUE ombre cotton fabric by Timeless Treasures I ordered was black shading to grey. I reordered, got someone elses totally different order. My blue ombre had never shipped. They assured me theyd send my order out the next day via NEXT DAY AIR. It should have been delivered today but NO. I called AGAIN, it was accidentally sent ground which will be an additional days. I ordered this through Amazon to be assured of 2 day free shipping. When I called AGAIN to maybe be compensated in some way, I was offered a $5 in store credit. They can keep that since I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM NOR DO I RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE TO. Terrible excuse for a company.
They took strategy of aggressive FB advertising and promotion. This is the only reason they are still in business. I can not get a simple receipt from them. All and every on-line store emails the receipt immediately, they are the only one who don't. Contacting customer service doesn't help - they pretend they don't understand the inquiry. Looks like they overcharged the credit card by ~$5, and now I can't find the truth.
P.S. Overcharge - is TAX! For out of state purchase! They know that nobody will fight for $5 at the court.
I've purchased from fabric.com a couple times, and the experiences vary wildly from a slightly late delivery, to a piece cut short. But now, after waiting a month on a decent order they just canceled it without explanation and refunded me the sale price minus shipping. I should have trusted the reviews before buying. Their prices aren't low enough to risk the unreliable customer service they provide.
Numerous times I have received less than the 1 yard of fabric I ordered. I order fabric by the 1 yard pieces to make baby blankets, which are all donated. Invariably they are anywhere from 1-3 inches short. I want 1 yard the full length! I quit ordering from them for awhile but are giving it another try. I do like their flannel so I'm hoping I won't be disappointed.
$15.99 for standard shipping?! Get bent. Guess I'll stick with my local sewing supply shop. When I'm dropping $100+ on fabric, I expect great service and decent perks. You won't find that at Fabric.com.
Zero stars.
I ordered 20 yards of sheer curtain fabric. It came in three separate pieces and all three pieces were useless to me. The first piece was around 66 inches long. I need a minimum of 83 inches. The second piece was a bit longer. I could not use the third piece because someone manually trimmed the edges off the sides of the fabric.
The customer service was most unhelpful. The best they could do was issue a UPS return label. No apology, no promise to investigate what happened. They could not assure me that if I reorder the fabric I would get usable fabric this time. The customer rep kept repeating to me that there is no way for them to communicate with their warehouse from which they ship fabrics no phones, no email. Very worrisome if true. How do they do quality control? Plus, according to their website they had over 300 yards available of my fabric available. How can you send scrap fabric to customers?
They also violate your own policy that states
We understand that upholstery and drapery items may pose a problem if they are not in large enough pieces. For this reason, these two types of material are handled a bit differently. For upholstery and drapery items, if we cannot provide one continuous piece, and if ANY of the pieces involved are less than 15 yards in length, our customer service department will contact you prior to shipment. On the other hand, if all pieces involved are greater than 15 yards in length, we will go ahead and ship the order.
I was nervous to order at first because there were SO many bad reviews. I literally placed my order YESTERDAY AFTERNOON and I already got it! And the fabric is so gorgeous and exactly what I wanted. Very very happy. Can't wait o upholster my headboard!
I ordered 3 yards of the extra wide flannel backing for a quilt. I ordered it in August, left it in the package and then opened in October when I finally had time to work again on the project. As i was ironing the flannel I noticed that where the material was folded there was discoloration. It is dirt/dustiness as I was able to wash some away with a wash cloth. I e-mailed about compensation and was told because of the time frame that I was not able to return it. I have had good orders with fabric.com so this was just plain dissappointing. Now I can't trust them. Gone are the good old days when the customer was always right. Lesson learned: check you material as soon as it arrives.
They told me that I had to work out getting my order with usps. They sent it to KY and I live in UT. So ridiculous.
I ordered clearance fabric I believed was orange fabric with yellow stripes. There was no wording that the stripes were actually orange sheer. The fabric was clearance and I knew I couldn't return it, p. However, I received my fabric and it looked completely different from the picture. There was no way for me to have known this. I talked to the customer service and all they could tell me over and over is "we can give you a $5 credit". My order cost $14. And I spoke with them about my objections because it was not my fault the fabric was misrepresented. They continued to send generic, robotic answers and at times would gloss over my concerns and say, "Is there anything else I can help you with?" They eventually ended the chat themselves without saying anything. It was a completely degrading experience.
I understand they have a "policy", but this is about the representation of their product and clueless consumers who don't know what they are buying. Horrible first experience. It would be great to at least act like youre listening and care. Won't use them again.
Everything from finding the perfect fabric for my reupholstered job, to being able to get a sample Before making a purchase, to having competitive prices, to a fast delivery made my experience quite satisfying! Even the man who did the job praised the fabric being easy to work with. I highly recommend this company!
I ordered just shy of $200 worth of fabric from Fabric.com, and it was the worst! I ordered 2 yards of a top dollar cotton fabric and received it in 3 pieces, 1yd, and two 1/2 yard cuts. I ordered a couple cuts polar fleece that was stunning on the page and drab and what I received was drab and washed out. I order 2 items that were sold as minky, but were only soft when one side was rubbed with the nap, not at all the other way, and the back side was similar to the underside of upholstery fabric. They don't even know how to fold the fabric, with the bigger cuts just basically rolled up. Never again!
I ordered around 20 swatches. 10 or so turned up under sized. I contacted the company and they sent out replacements.
When the replacements arrived, most were under sized again! So again I took photos and emailed the company and again they sent replacements.
And guess what happened? 3 out of the 4 were under sized.
I was tired of sending emails, so I waited until the time in my country, Australia, was late enough to chat with them online.
I chatted with a person who was polite. They ended up saying they could not send any more replacements as they had already sent two. Yet they offered me a $10 credit to my account.
This is of no use to me at all.
If the company isn't able to get swatches right the first time, let alone by the third time, and then refuse to sort the issue because their previous two attempts had failed due to their ineptness, why would anyone do business with them?
Having a credit for a company I am not going to use is useless to me.
Not having what I needed and paid for, is unacceptable.
How can people get swatches wrong? You cut a square 8" by 8". That's it. Measure an 8"x8" square on the backing of the fabric and then cut it out and send it. I've received swatches that are 5.5"x6"!
They didn't get this right and they had 3 opportunities to do so. If they are prepared to pay for the freight, they can have all of their under sized swatches back.
It's a real inconvenience to me. I'm very glad I bought swatches and not large amounts of fabric.
I don't recommend this company at all.
I ordered fabric from these people and after waiting 5 days to get it they took it upon themselves to claim I returned the purchase ( I NEVER Recieved). Than they tried refunding only the purchase price and sticking me with the shipping fees. Are you kidding me? Never again will I order from them! Amazon needs to kick them to the curb!
Thanks to fabric.com, I have most likely lost a customer... maybe more due to word of mouth.
I placed my order on 9/6, received it on 9/12 for a project I need to have completed my 9/21. When I opened the box, instead of a black & grey print, they sent green & tan!
I promptly emailed to key them know if the situation and that I expected an expeditious resolution - due to their error - and my looming deadline.
Two days later they responded stating they would express ship the fabric & I should have it in time to meet my deadline.
I checked my orders the next day, only to find out that the fabric is now BACKORDERED! They didn't email me to let me know, I just found out on my own. I called them, they said it wouldn't be in until at least 9/28. I told them that wouldn't work. She offered me a $10 store credit for my inconvenience- I said that's not going to helping customer or me earning more business. She said I could cancel the order. Wow! Thanks for the great customer service, actually thanks for NOTHING!
This is a terrible company that messed up our delivery and is constantly giving excuses. They kept pushing responsibility to others and us! When it was no fault of us! We had such an hard time trying to get to these people to sent our products and we still have not received our products that cost USD $455! Total regrets!
To say that I was nervous to place an order at Fabric.com after reading these reviews would be understatement of the century for me! However, I could not find this cute of fabric anywhere else (Sea-themed alphabet, for my nursery) and decided to roll the dice. I was relieved and delighted that my 6 and 1/2 yards of fabric arrived clean, in one piece, early and exactly as pictured online. Just wanted to share my positive experience for others' consideration.
I, too, have ordered from this company several times, without incident, but my experience with my past 2 orders has been bad enough that I will never order from them again! My last order was shorted, a lot. Ordered 3 yards of a particular fabric, received a little less than. 5. After I complained, they sent the right fabric, it arrived days later than expected and fabric.com made a big fuss about the tiny piece of fabric I had received first. They made me ship it back to them, or they said they were going to charge me for it. IT WAS LESS THAN HALF A YARD AND WAS THEIR MISTAKE! But I had to jump through a lot of hoops, at great inconvenience to me.
My most recent order was worse. I ordered several different fabrics, 3 yard cuts of each. After confirming my order, they then emailed me to inform me one of my fabrics was nearly out of stock and I could only get 1.5 yards. But that I could choose another, as long as it was the same price, and I responded within 24 hrs. I chose the SAME FABRIC, in a different shade, same price, same designer, same everything (except color)! 3 days later, I got a response from them telling me I couldn't have that fabric because it was of greater value! I immediately responded, with screenshots from their site of the fabric i had originally ordered and the fabric i had chosen to replace it, showing it was the same price. A few hours later, I received an email saying "sorry, your order has shipped"! I did everything, jumped through every hoop they threw at me, only to realize in the end that they most likely, never intended to fix the situation!
Customer service is terrible. I regret spending so much money with them. NEVER AGAIN!
I've ordered fabric 4 times from this retailer and had a problem every single time. They've shorted me on the amount of fabric, they've confirmed my order only to come back days later and say they don't have it, they've sent the wrong sample twice and never made it right. Poor, poor service. I am frustrated to say the least. Will not order from them again.
I ordered 27 yards of Roclon lining and received it on a bolt in pieces. There were 4 73" cut pieces in the middle of the bolt. I called them to get another bolt sent that was a continuous piece and stressed it needed to be overnighted because I had to install the job in 5 days. When I tracked the package the next morning it said it was due to arrive in 6 days! This affected my client, my schedule and my installer. Everything had to be changed. They said they cannot guarantee that fabric will be one continuous piece over a certain yardage. The day I ordered it the sales person never told me that. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN.
Answer: Hawthorne Threads is great.
Answer: Im using them for almost a year but no more... they keep sending me 25 % discount almost every week to gain me back... NO WAY! Yeah i order atleast 2,000 each order... total loss for them... until now they still awe me money for the fleece fabric i order long time ago, when i order it it has 50 yards of it, after 10 days they gonna tell me its out of stock, waited for replacement, until now no replacement... i got a lot of horrible experience with this company,,, dirty fabric that looks like somebody use it to rub on their body... really really sucks!
Answer: My business is making curtains. I have dealt with this company for the past two years and I think the customer service department is doing the best they can with trying to making it look like the company has it together. They do not have it together at all. There is no excuse with the volume of business that they do that they cannot afford a system that can tell you immediately an item is out of stock. I cannot tell you how many times I have purchased fabric from this company only to learn three days later that it is not in stock. Then they hold the rest of your order for another three to four days after you answer an email telling them to continue to ship the rest of the order. I have had fabric arrive to me balled up in a box that they didn't even bother to put in a bag, I have had fabric with shoe prints on it in the middle of the bolt or pieces of fabric missing from a ten yard order that were cut out of the middle of the ten yards. I am trying to eventually not use this company at all anymore as they don't have a clue as to how to treat customers or just don't care. The only problem is they have run all of the mom and pop online fabric stores out of business with lower prices (this was maybe two years ago) and the smaller businesses couldn't keep up with them so they closed. Now that they have the market they have raised their prices because they have very little competition out there. If you leave a good review for this company you are one in a million that have had a pleasurable experience. Just because you bought from them once and don't have a complaint means nothing, consider yourself lucky.
Answer: It's a US website, so they'll take the money in US dollars, but if they take orders from Australia your bank or payment processor will have to convert the currency according to the current exchange rate and I think they may also charge a fee for doing this.
Answer: Thank you so much for your inquiry. Please feel free to send your contact information to [email protected], and I would be more than happy to forward it to the appropriate people.
Answer: You would have been better off contacting fabric.com directly. It doesn't look like they even know about this website.
Answer: I would call or email them, including as much detail as you can... order #, what fabrics were ordered and approximately the time of the order. Have never had this happen to me from Fabric.com, have from another online site and was lucky that I got the help I needed. Good Luck.
Answer: As a customer of theirs, almost an ex-customer of theirs at this point, I can honestly say they have made absolutely no changes for the better in my case. They have paid absolutely no attention to any of my issues with them, which is why I'm about to become a former customer.
