They contradict their own verbage constantly. Not using enough credit they state then I respond make credit card purchases within 6-10% usage of available credit and then payed in full. Expirian rewards me by lowering my score by 11 points and then further their contradictory behavior by claiming this action doesn't effect my overall credit worthiness.
They purposely have metrics in place that throttle a person's ability to increase their score.
Once notified by credit karma that I was doing an excellent job staying within my 6-10 % credit card usage and Experian later in the day rewards me by lowering my score by one point.
Incredibly shady organization who work on behalf of banks and lower scores at random to garner higher interest payments for banks.

Lie report
April 30, 2021

On the website of the experian itself it says that it reports credit with itin number, but it is a lie, I already called them, because my credit is not being reported and they even say that they do not report to those who have itin number.

FRAUD!
April 24, 2021

This Experian company slammed/scammed me for $24.31! It was supposed to be a "FREE" credit check. I did not join this fraudulent company. Yet, I was charged the above amount on my Capital One credit card. When I saw this, I immediately reported the fraudulent charge. Capital One investigated and gave me a credit for the $24.31. But, after a week with no reply from Experian, the credit was revoked! I have been unable to talk with a human at Experian with one exception. When i first saw the charge I was able to talk with an Experian employee from the Phillipin Islands! She told me that my complaint would be investigated and, to wait a minute. I waited and waited. The phone connection was gone! I am reporting this to my state's AG Consumer Complaint Division and, to Capital One. Anyone else have a similar problem? Report it...

I signed up with Experian to use their "boost" which was fine for a few months, HOWEVER when I saw an error and tried to dispute the company's mistake, showing not only my bank records, but the information the had from boost which lists all your bank transactions! They don't bother with ANY evidence you have, they will only take what the company says truth. They took a catalog credit they originally listed as a credit card and changed it to a loan! It took 3 months of disputing their mistake before they changed it bake. Then they took a self added account that was a cable/internet service and put it as a mobile phone account! Next thing I know, there was a dispute against the company which was then removed from my report! Furious I made a call and was on hold for half an hour! When someone finally answered and I demanded to know why it was (!) Disputed (2) removed, I WAS HUNG UP ON! While I was on hold, I started a chat session, and when it finally got connected, I explained what I just went through, the person said I'm sorry. But by then, after months of aggravation, I said I wanted to be done with them! For the first 3 months maybe 4 it was great but after that, nothing but headaches. Their customer service is lacking, and all it did was make my credit worse than when I started

Hard Inquiries
March 19, 2021

I had applied for several credit cards on Experian and all of them were soft inquiries. However, today I applied for a Capital One card which denied me and it was recorded as a Hard Inquiry. I understand that these are advertisements. If Experian really cared about boosting your credit score they would not allow advertisers on their site that dings their customers with a Hard Inquiry. Customer Service said they could not remove it because it wasn't fraud. Experian cares more about making money off of these credit card companies and not so much about boosting the credit scores of their customers.

This experience is all about building up your credit profile, which I've been working on for about three (3) years. Well on the 12th on February 2021, my FICO score finally made a Good rating at Experian, I was quite proud of my accomplishment. On the 19th of February I received an alert that my one credit card had decreased significantly to 0.0% and that my FICO score had decreased by 8 points, I could not understand how this could have happened; seeing that all my accounts were on time, credit usage below 5%, no collections and all credit cards with a zero (0) balance. I finally have a Good credit score with Experian and better scores with TransUnion and Equifax in the 700 range. How could I lose 8 points after gaining 5 points on 02/12/21 and gaining 32 points on 01/30/21, this has besides myself, after all my report is positive at this point, how in "Hell" could I lose 8 points when nothing has come in to Experian as negative or no recent inquiries! This is exactly why I "do not pay for an Experian membership", it's all about the money.

The Experian program connected to my Capital One c. C. accounts page is a nightmare... the current credit score numbers it provides for me are questionable as well as used for a hook to get me to apply for one of their many credit cards, all with high costs, ie. Yrly charge and or high monthly % charges... 24% or more. Their suggestions based on my credit score which they change on almost a weekly basis. They suggest one reason I have a low score is that I have a 'Thin File' (not enough credit debt) their term, and it would 'help' me if I would 'plump' it up by adding more of their credit cards to the two I already have with Capital One. When you add this situation, with their ability to drop my score 34 points in one day, when I am trying desperately to raise my score to somewhere at least in the high sixes or 700 to qualify for a refi on my mortgage, it's just depressing! The CFO at my credit union said don't pay any attention to those numbers, no one really looks at them anymore, now they look at debt to income ratio...? I am 73 yo and living on a fixed income. I have put time and energy into fitting my lifestyle into what would fit into my retirement income. Experian seems to think more debt is the better way to go. I don't know if this situation fits your idea of a scam but it sure does fit mine...

Worst service ever!
December 10, 2020

I tried to select Zero stars but wasn't allowed. This is the worst service you can buy into. Please don't waste your money. The membership agents are horrid and unsupportive and don't understand the need to report correct information about creditors. In addition, the numbers are not accurate.the number that does online differs from what I received when I called in. I was also charged for a year fraudulently for someone else's membership and was told they couldn't credit me. Worst experience. Please go with Transunion or Equifax instead.

The jerks representatives at Experian just don't care that my Experian online report is not working due to their fault. Numerous phone calls and wasting time with incompetent representatives did not solve the problem nor they really care. Its important they charge for membership! Theves!

I was signed up for a subscription - I definitely didn't begin any sort of membership and hadn't even visited the website today. I cancelled my membership and called to ask for a refund. I was very polite and patient on the phone. The customer service agent told me that "memberships are non-refundable." I stated that I hadn't signed up for a membership and would really appreciate a refund. She told me to "hang on while I check this on my end, okay?" I said okay... She hung up on me.

November 5, 2019

When I first signed up I was amazed at how great experian.com was as a company, and again I was wrong they let me down they are supposed to be a legitimate site yet they are taking inaccurate credit information in and affecting my credit. Poor website I'm so angry they are letting these companies scam a college student. I will be hiring an attorney

Experian is a fraud
September 27, 2019

This company is supposed to protect its customers from credit fraud. Yet, Experian systems allowed a potentially fraudulent transaction to execute inside their own systems without warning or alerts. Someone else's payment for a credit report, with completely different name and address, was charged to my credit card on file, all while telling me the card is invalid and membership fees cannot be charged to it. To add insult to injury, the card in question is listed by for monitoring for any suspicious activities. There is a final straw. When I contested the charge, Experian customer service uncovered the problem, and I asked about refunding the amount, a mere $25, the answer was simple. No credit. Go contest the charge with your credit card company. Obviously, the I am no longer a customer of Experian but this makes me wonder. If they won't stand behind $25, does their million dollar guarantee even exists? I am not even going to dive into how many times their phone systems disconnected me and how every time their support made me start from the beginning.

Experian lied to me
September 17, 2019

So I trusted Experian and that was a Big Mistake. They have all my credit info. So when they LIED to me and said they
"FOUND" 5 credit cards that if I applied to would help my credit score I foolishly believed them. The very first one I applied for at THEIR suggestion denied me and my credit score went down. I would have never applied had they not said the FOUND credit cards for me that would boost my rating. LIARS- Don't trust them

Total Fraud
November 5, 2018

I never registered anywhere and for months they have been charging me $19.99. Every month I have to go to my credit card and dispute. When I call experian, their system announces that I have no membership but every month the charges appear. I am frustrated with waste of my time. I am sure they are fraud.

I didn't get my so-called "free" dark web report! Now I'm just on the hook for their ads! You try to contact them on the website and all you get is a bunch of topics I'm not looking for - just a lot of run-around!

I prepaid for a Budget car through Experian, went to the counter to pick it up, they did a "soft credit check," said I didn't qualify and was refused the car. According to CreditKarma, my credit score was 780 - very good. I asked for a refund and was refused. They said since I booked through Experian I had to request a refund through them. I went to Experian and was also refused. They are my travel agent, I prepaid, one of their contractors screwed me, but they didn't make things right. Experian and Budget are bad businesses.

I keep on getting the feeling that someone is half-successfully hacking my experian.com account basically since it's inception. When contacted, the company really didn't care very much at all. Using this site makes your identity vulnerable to theft.

Not speaking on behalf of the California location specifically, but for Experian as a whole. They are terrible! They do not give you a FREE CREDIT REPORT; however they do say that their fee is only $1 and then mysteriously charge you $17.99 for a "membership" that they do not tell you about. Do not obtain your credit report from here, seriously! They suck.

I had an horrible exoerience with this site. They promised a $1 charge
To check the credit report and they start charging money from your acvount
Every month, I had to get find the site again and pretend I wanted to do it again in
Order to get the numbers for customer service. After 3 months they
Accepted my cancellation but the only way I noticed was because they didnt charge my card the following month. They didnt even send a cancellation email or confirmation. I dont recomend it.
