After selling on Etsy for years, successfully, despite other sellers sabotaging me by using reviews and falsy reporting items to try and get my store closed, I am moving out of the platform. It is a dictatorship that threatens its sellers with store closures constantly and uses vague strongly worded threatening emails to scare its sellers. Considering the raise in fees and they take a cut of everything, the sale, the postage, and even the gift wrapping services f you offer one, it has become a run-at-a-loss proposition for most new and developing sellers. Unless you sell specialized high-ticket items or massive amounts of low-cost items that you have to compete against the mostly Asian knock shops, you have a less than a good chance of surviving. You can't block abusive or inappropriate messages, you can't have any control over your store, and they will kick you off in a heartbeat with no explanation. Its simply not worth the cost or the stress of dealing with the threats to close your store every time their algorithms find an item that they don't like even if it doesn't violate policies, they will send you a nasty email and bounce you off the site with no $ and no recourse. If you are new they hold your funds for up to 45 days-which extremely disheartening and difficult for new sellers. It's just become too controlling and too expensive. How sad it was once wonderful now it's a money-hungry dictatorship. Beware new ones!

It was worst experience

Hello, I'm extremely disappointed with your services. Firstly, a seller on your site ignored me for approximately two months. After that, I had to repeatedly ask them to refund my money. Secondly, I feel insecure on your site without any support. Thirdly, I have been waiting for my money for over a month now. This has been the worst experience of my life.

I ordered a valance for my kitchen window, and received it. I had no problem with that order. Then I decided it wasn't full enough and I tried ordering another one. What a nightmare! They blocked my account. That's where it started to turn ugly. Wanting to get to the bottom of this, I looked up customer service numbers. One of the numbers has a recording that this number is no longer in service so. I tried calling another number and that had a recording of this number does not take incoming calls. Needless to say I was upset. Then the real trouble began. I finally got a hold of someone and asked for help. She took my phone number and said she need to talk to someone and would get back with me the next day. She did call me back the following day and said my account had been red flagged. I ask what does that mean. She then said to call there fraud department, and gave me a number. I called the number and they said they red flagged my account because they believed someone was trying to hack my account. I was so upset. This back and forth calling from the fraud department went on for about three days. The person I spoke to was rude and talked down to me.
I'm sick over this. I have called my bank, and credit card company to check if they had anything that looked bogus. They said no. I'm wondering if I actually spoke to a fraud department or it was scam artist. I still have not had this issue resolved. DO NOT USE THIS SITE!

Don't do it. Etsy's algorithm makes it so you can not grow your business. One day you will be seen and you get orders the next you go dead. They will tell you it's all your fault, your keywords, SEO, products blah blah everything is your fault but the truth is Etsy rigs it's algorithm to make money for them. They will push your shop back so you post more listings. They even put an announcement up a couple weeks ago encouraging sellers to post more listings. So you pay them $.20 per listing for it to never be seen by a buyer imaging 7 million sellers post only one listing in a day that makes them $1,400,000. They do not care if buyers even purchase your products they make the most of their money from you posting your products. They will dangle carrots in front of you by pushing your shop up for a day, you think OH my work is paying off, the next day your shop will be dead so you think I need to put more products up $$$ money for Etsy but not for you. If you work with Etsy for too long and it's your main job you become unemployable because you have a period of time that you didn't have a job. Now you are Etsy's slave. Don't start an Etsy shop, all the people on youtube directing you to do it telling you how amazing it is are just making money on youtube, try finding their Etsy shops, you won't find them. Youtube doesn't charge to post Etsy does it cost money to run and Etsy shop which is why people are just making videos about it but not doing it.

After purchasing several Tshirt graphics, for a Tshirt printing business I'm in the process of forming, my account was suspended and my orders were cancelled. Etsy claims there was fraudulent activity with my account, when that is far from the truth. I used my own personal debit card and placed the orders from the same device I always use. I have filed an appeal and have yet to hear from them. This is a huge inconvenience for me and will be affecting my business.

This was my first time buying on Etsy and will be my last. The item I purchased was never delivered & I was being scammed. Customer service is a complete joke. I was given a $15 gift card and having extreme difficulty using that. Customer service basically tells you "good luck you're on your own!" And they end the chat when they don't want to bother with you. PLEASE heed my warning and stay away from this company. If I didn't know any better, this company helps to scam their buyers!

Etsy treats their sellers like TRASH. Stay the heck away from that place. They keep raising their fees, they violate their own rules whenever it suits them, and they force advertising dollars on you to pay for as a shop owner. You have to contest EVERY DECISION THEY MAKE against you with a policy highlited so they can understand THEIR OWN RULES. The people who work at their customer service are LAZY. They don't read the cases and just throw darts at a decision board. I'm pretty confident they are likely using foreigners to mediate cases because they don't understand what they're reading! I am about to move to another service because I'm so sick and tired of this awful company! And... guess what... ANOTHER RAISE IN FEES COMING RIGHT UP! There is even a a seller union being formed.

I guess it was just a matter of time before I got scammed on Etsy the same as I did on Ebay. Especially when you buy used vintage electronics. The sellers pretend to know how to refurbish complex vintage electronics, but all they do is dust it off and power it on briefly. HOPE is not a good strategy. Just hoping that the (in my case a CD changer), item will work properly is not a good idea. The seller will swear it was working properly when they shipped it. Now instead of a CD changer all I have is a boat anchor. These crooked sellers will NOT refund you so don't ask. There should be a law against scammers like this.
If you want to buy vintage electronics, find established repair shops who also sell electronics like
Spencer at SPENCERTIFY.COM in Mesa Arizona. They are total HONEST experts and will stand behind their items 100%, including refund if that is what you want. They have a money back guarantee.They have lots of YouTube videos and you will learn a lot from them. They even have a showroom in their building. I have bought 2 CD changers from them and I am totally delighted with them and their excellent service. You will pay a little more for this excellence that they provide, but what do you want? You want an expensive boat anchor from crooks, or an item that you will be delighted with for years to come?

Problem With Etsy

My first experience with Etsy was good, but I'm having problems with it now. I recently ordered a second plant from them, but now I have trouble; delivery was delayed but it should arrive in the next week. However, I'm trying to get tracking information, but it wants my password which they won't accept. One of my computers that's running an old version of Windows, says It is denying me log-in because I tried to enter the password too many times, although it was my first try. The new laptop with a current version of Windows, won't accept my password because it says it's the wrong password, so I tried changing it but it still says it's wrong. I can't contact support via the computer because I need to log into the site with my password which it won't accept, and the phone number listed online is not in service. There's no email address to write to, so there's nothing more I can do but wait and hope my order finally comes through.

I've seen a lot of changes in my 7 yrs shopping on Etsy. Honestly, in the last three yrs, I've seen the site go waaaaay down-hill; a whole lot of cheap crap has popped-up, machine made crap! Even more than that, the web-site itself is a knightmare to navigate! Whomever set it up; designed it, needs to find a new purpose in life, 'cause website design isn't it. My last order was truly, my last. I've been patient and hopeful for 3 yrs now, I'm done...peace...out.

Tried to sell authenticated vintage Versace sunglasses. Etsy deactivated it stating it violated their policies. I had them authenticated twice and showed proof. They told me they would not respond to any more emails attempting to fix the problem. Apparently their "experts" are better than any other experts! I doubt it. Doesn't matter that they previously sold an identical item in the past. Very poor business practices. But with the rates they charge why would anyone want to sell on their platform when the are other ones better. Etsy needs to reevaluate their policies, pricing and everything else. Will no longer do business with them.

Site made for scammers

This site is purpose built for scammers and shoddy products. It is impossible to get a refund for faulty products and the customer service is hopeless. I paid with PayPal and the customer service tells me I must lodge a product complaint with PayPal! Even though I purchased through Etsy - it's a total joke. DO NOT BUY THROUGH THIS SITE. I definitely will never make that mistake again.

Evidence attached. After (no kidding) 2 hours of use, the zip broke off the leather bag I bought ($150 USD) and the stitching is pulling out. I asked for a full refund and offered to return the bag. No joy and Etsy take no responsibility - just palm it off to PayPal.

The site is a scam and a fraud. Disgraceful.

DONT SELL ON ETSY

DO NOT SELL ON THIS SITE UNLESS YOU MONEY TO GIVE AWAY. Try Amazon or EBay, they exercise common sense and treat sellers better. The way Etsy treat its sellers is vile. Dipping into my account to refund buyers for the simplest query offering full refunds even though they received their order and not giving me a chance to respond. They refunded 20 orders even thought I provided the tracking information showing the orders were delivered they still continue to refund buyers. One buyer reached out because of missing screws, guess what they gave her a full refund even though she didn't request one. Another buyer contact then 5 months later saying she didn't receive her order when clearly did and they still refunded her 5 months later! They just dip into your account and do whatever they want! Decided to cancel my card to stop them doing this, guess what, they got my new card number before me. Disgusting, not properly thought out policies that can lead sellers to loose a lot of money if the slightest things goes wrong and you don't get a chance to deal with it. You might as well stand on the roadside and hand out free products because they've certainly given my products away for free and I've lost thousands as a result. AVOID AS A SELLER, THEY HAVE TOO MUCH CONTROL OVER YOU BANK ACCOUNT AND THEY TREAT YOU HORRIBLY! The attached screenshot is one example of 20 orders they refunded for literally no reason! Asked for screws got a full refund! How is possible? Beggars belief that this is happening, I cannot believe it!
