The company's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and unresolved order issues. Many customers report extensive delays in shipping and inadequate communication regarding their purchases, leading to frustration and a sense of helplessness. Additionally, there are widespread concerns about the platform's reliance on automated systems, which fail to provide effective support for both buyers and sellers. Despite some positive experiences with individual sellers, the overarching sentiment highlights a pressing need for improved transparency and accountability from the company to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

I opened an Etsy account earlier this evening, excited to sell the graphic design work I've been doing in college. After uploading a trial listing to get an understanding of the program, I am greeted with an account suspension notice. I'm told to check my email as to why I was suspended, but no emails with any information about my suspension are provided. Furthermore, they have the audacity to continue to push their $0.20 fee for my listings despite my account being completely disabled. Their customer service is difficult to reach, you can only reach them via a ticket submission online - no phone, email, or office. It seems that all they care about is scooping off the top of the sellers they have been dealing with for a while. As the first impression of this service, I am extremely disappointed that they would put forth such little effort into resolving a situation like this. I will never do business with Etsy.
Etsy seems to be run by 12 year olds. A plethora of mass produced junk sprinkled with a little bit of hand made stuff just so they can keep advertising themselves as handmade products market. I am disgusted how they treat their sellers too: pushing for lower prices and free shipping so they can compete with you know who (rhymes with bamazon). Driving truly amazing small businesses off their platform alltogether. Don't waste your money.
I don't normally write reviews, but save your money. The sellers are shady. They process your order, take your money and cancel the order at the last minute and never get back to you with regards to any refunds. I purchased a lot of stuff and was always satisfied until my last order. I'm due a refund and no one is getting back to me!
Etsy has a lot of cool stuff from small business that you cannot normally find, so i really recommend shopping from there for things like art work, room decor, DIY objection (earrings, necklace etc). Shipping is relatively fast depending on how soon the seller ships out the product, but its a super safe platform to purchase from!
I'm SICK of getting emails EVERY TIME I login to Etsy on a different device! STOP this practice. Also, DON'T ask for reviews of items that haven't arrived! Your website needs an IT overhaul desperately. Don't nag for reviews on items that have arrived. This is all absurd‼
Absolute worst company, DO NOT USE! I was selling on Etsy and had £170 in my account. Someone hacked into my account and stole the money. I've sent 12 emails and heard nothing back. Do not trust them, they're absolutely awful!
Etsy sides only on buyer rather than seller. Poor customer service takes weeks to get issue resolved where Etsy laziness brings bad name to the company. My customer reviewed my company based on carrier delay and carrier damages rather than my product, Etsy has no right policies to support seller. Overall bad experience for seller.
I have tried to resolve 2 separate issues 2 different times and they are unwilling to help in any way shape or form. They just say they cant help.
Purchased a coat vintage from a etsy store called glass city reclaimed the coat was listed as men's xl when i received it it was a women's coat and smelled like cat urine, it was so bad i had to put it in the garage. I've sent numerous messages to etsy and to the seller with no answers back This sale was a fraud paid over 100 for the coat i even offered to pay return shipping Store is Glass city reclaimed
I will not order anymore on Etsy. I am still waiting for my package. And I don't know what's is happening. The tracking page says that there are problems with the customs, my address, etc... It seems that the vendor is not reliable and that Etsy did not its job at reviewing vendors. This is over. Won't buy anything again.
There are many honest sellers on Etsy, but you must most vigilant for scammers. I was badly scammed by one seller advertising "handmade plush rabbit toys, made in England" which could be "personalized with the baby's name on it." The item arrive within 12 hours. It was a completely flattened white 'thing' not even remotely resembling a bunny with a large tag on it "MADE IN CHINA". I sent a message to the seller and asked for a complete refund. The seller refused, claiming, the 'item' "met their standards and criteria". I wrote back, "Well, it certainly does not meet mine. Why would I receive a completely flattened toy bunny?" Their response was that I "should expect to receive a flattened bunny due to the air pressure in the aircraft." I wrote them, "I have traveled all over the world with my animals and we always arrive in three dimensions." I asked this 'seller' how it was possible for a package arriving from the UK to land on my doorstep 12 hours later. The response was that they "had a special on-line customs service which enabled them to override US customs." Sorry, there is no such thing. The "personalization" writing was illegible and despite their claims that the special "sublimation imprinting process was indelible" the cheap fabric marker color rubbed right off in my hand. My son, a computer analyst told me the classic sign of a scammer is that they use two English names combined. This 'shop' on Etsy is called "AmyLucy" designs and features a photo of a super model blonde woman. I posted a negative review and it was removed within a half hour and they closed their 'shop' for a week. I should have examined the site closer. All 50 pages of reviews are five stars with no comments. It is not statistically possible to have 50 pages of all five star reviews. Apparently 23 people had this item in their cars. More likely virtual people. I contacted Etsy and was forced to listen to the most inane, idiotic 'music' for an hour before speaking with a non-virtual customer service representative who assured me my $50 would be refunded, It never was. I gave this 'thing' to my dog. She took one sniff at it, and walked away in disgust. It went straight into the trash.
Beware of Thomas Nooft from Florida
Beware of Thomas Nooft from Florida, after he received 3 assorted ‘whimsical' Christmas trees he messaged me that a piece had come unglued what should he do? I responded immediately stating it must have gotten shuffled in shipping and just use a hot glue gun or gorilla glue works wonders. I messaged him again two days later to make sure all was well and I take pride in all of my HANDMADE items and I would make it right, even though I do not accept refunds. He waited 3 WEEKS to message me and tell me that the tree was crooked, hence the phrase ‘whimsical' but it was ok. He then waited 2 weeks after he stated everything was ok, total of 2 months after initial purchase and gave me 3 stars and contacted Etsy who took upon themselves without contacting me for my side to give him a full refund. How do you offer a full refund on my behalf without asking me the details. They paid it and did not charge me but it is the principle of the matter. He has my items, which coincidentally, he sells at a ‘mall' and got them for free. Beyond pissed at the audacity of Etsy!
Hello! I'd like to share with you the situation I'm in. Maybe someone experienced anything similar.
I run a store selling needle felting sculptures, kits and wool since 2016. Located in EU. I have a few hundred sales and 5-star reviews only thanks to my customers. All my bills are paid, I never had problems with that.
Twenty (20) days ago my store got suspended by Etsy. I have two red banners on my dashboard.
They both basically say the same - "your account has been suspended. Read the reason and details in received email and contact Etsy support".
The thing is that I have not received any emails regarding that. I've checked all possible spam folders etc.
I contacted Etsy support 8 times from that account, all my submitted tickets are displayed under my profile in "My Support Requests", however I got no replies at all. I also cannot use Etsy forums - get an error, probably because of suspension.
What I have now -
Etsy blocked my store with no reasons provided. I am literally losing money in this pre-Christmas time. Few of my customers reached me wondering where is my shop gone. I have no clue what have I done wrong, since Etsy has not provided a single reason, and also ignoring my questions. There is no way to contact Etsy.
I feel really down, I could not imagine that something like that might happen. Thank you for reading.
Etsy is a platform for scammers.
I almost got scammed by Etsy... it took me a long time to get my $13,454 credited back to my card.
It was the most painful and horrible experience I've ever had.
Their dispute resolution format is totally duped with morons from the Philippines who continue to cycle you continuously in a circular pattern forcing you to text chat or talk to dozens of different people who can barely speak English... Can't understand what they're saying half the time. They all say the same thing concerning your case like they're trained to be bots in human form. Stating over and over the same thing you heard from the previous text chat person with no help or escalation to help your case... AND I STRESS THE FACT THAT THEIR CASE RESOLUTION IS OF TOTAL INCOMPETENCE.
It was only after threats from my credit card company that they initiate a lawsuit if they did not comply to a refund based on all the evidence that I had presented to them that the seller was using mail fraud and credit card fraud.
Don't buy or sell on Etsy it's a huge platform for scam artists and Etsy supports them.
I bought a product twice worth 160 euro's and it got deducted from my account. I have proof of this but Etsy won't and can't help me with this. I need to handle it with the seller myself, not knowing that other people can sell items on Etsy without mentioning this. I contacted the seller and he denies receiving a penny and won't send me my order. I have to sort everything out myself.
I think Etsy should take a look at products price and accountability for it. As a customer, I have noticed that products are too pricey (not sure why, perhaps etsy charges the seller) on their site. On the other hand, if you look at other websites it is much reasonable. There is no customer service of Etsy at all. The sellers asking price feels like a rip off. Even though they claim, the products are handmade but I do not think that is quite right. There is no buyer protection
I use to like Etsy but I don't like how they have become hateful against white people. What is with them having a special category for black owned businesses? How racist is that. Can you imagine if I asked them for a strictly white owned business category? Then I see commercials on TV that are promoting Gay Asians, black people and everyone except white people. Etsy is racist against white people. I am sick of it.
Got banned as buyer and seller, they suddenly banned me without any specific reason and tell me not to open new account again, i just want to sell and buy custom request stuff, my last order suddenly got canceled without any notice, good site with terrible AI and customer service, so proud of themselves, they don't need buyers nor sellers
I'm happy to have found B & H for purchasing photo paper. They have competitive prices and super fast shipping. B & H also does a fabulous job of packaging items to prevent bent corners on paper.
I have made a number of purchases on Etsy that I am VERY happy with. However, I've noticed in the past year that about half of the children's clothes on the site, which state they are handmade and are priced as such, are mass-manufactured stuff from China. You can find it on other sites (Chinese) that sell it for 50-75% less.
Answer: Check the reviews, and Google the seller. Also, are the reviews written in good english? Does it seem fake? Check pictures from the buyers.
Answer: I would have to say no, with LOTS of exceptions. In the past few years Etsy has allowed business to claim handmade if it meets certain criteria. I often see many items that claim to be handmade but I have seen them on Alibaba being sold in bulk. That being said I look very closely and have purchased some wonderfu items from great sellers. The biggest problem with Etsy is that they no longer protect customers from fraud (they say they are not liable) but in doing that lots and lots or resellers and counterfeit items have saturated Etsy' s marketplace. I would never buy anything "vintage" there. What I have seen you are getting thrift store rejects or modern fake. Buyer beware! Investigate all vendors carefully!
Answer: I am agree with Ramina. 90% is not hand made. All comes from Factories. When someone has over 8000's item don't you ask who made it. They are all over from Pakistan to turkey east to west up united state. Etsy is happy just to take your money and every 4 or 5 months closing one store to show off and if you have some money as a credit they take it too. No customer service, no respect no manor, they made policy just for FUN and they have FUN with our pocket. Stay far from them FAR FAR.
Answer: I agree with Steve J on this one. A lot of sellers on Etsy work from home in the evenings for extra money. Most of them are not big businesses with massive inventories so I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Give them a little more time and if they dont send it out then file a case with etsy
Answer: Business checking isn't necessary (the banks now charge a monthly fee for a small business checking). You can pretty much set up a regular checking account
Answer: I believe this depends on each seller. Etsy is simply a platform for sellers, and often does not have any direct involvement with orders short of processing the payment. Certain items cannot be returned for safety and hygiene reasons, and sellers can refuse to do anything other than exchange. Contacting Etsy may or may not change the results.
Answer: If you do, I would be cautious about ordering from international sellers, use a credit card in case you need to contest the charges, and do NOT expect ETSY do a thing if you get ripped off. They are useless and could care less once the sale is final.
Answer: I have bought a number of items through Etsy and with great success. I had only one negative experience and Etsy took are of that. I recommend Etsy wholeheartedly.
Answer: The best and quickest thing to do is to email the seller and let them know that you would like to return for a refund.
