They don't care

If your account is suspended or you have an item removed, Etsy is not singling you out. Someone has reported you! And it's usually another seller that is selling the same product, and trying to kick you off the block. Etsy has millions of sellers, so they are not picking on you! They probably don't even know you exist! And Etsy knows this, but they don't care! I mean they don't even bother to answer your emails. The best thing to do is, if you already have an account, open up another one for backup, so if you get suspended, you can just move your ads over & keep on selling... Because sellers are vicious! And will report you, especially if you're selling same things they are at a cheap price! They want you gone! So they can be only seller selling that product.

Ok some of the handmade stuff is overpriced but there are some that don't do that. I've gotten some cute stuff and some incredible art. I only recently had a problem with a store that wouldn't answer my messages when my purchase was never shipped. Etsy gave me my money back with no problems. I'll never buy from that store again but it's not stopping me from buying on Etsy. There are still good people on there that make great things.

Someone used my son's stolen credit card to purchase some crocs had it shipped to a different address then sent my son a crappy pair of flipflops and Etsy refused a us a refund because the said that someone in my house made the purchase I was like of course it is under my son's name his info was stolen. Piece of $#*!.

Worst website of all time. I spent $400 on 2 custom watches for my groomsmen. Neither worked. Seller wanted me to pay $60 to ship them back to have them fixed. Why should I have to pay shipping when I already paid for the item and never received what I paid for? I opened a case with Etsy. They told me to upload photos. Photos would not show that the watches did not work. I tried to upload videos and the website would not let me. I asked Etsy support for an email address to send the videos to. They just stopped responding and I am out of $400. Looked like an idiot too when the gifts I gave did not work. Stay away from this site. Huge scam.

Let down

We have been happy with the sales on Etsy but they do not seem to care at all about the seller experience and there is no way to block problematic buyers or scammers. As a seller, it is nearly impossible to get anybody at etsy to help with disputes. I still recommend selling on this platform but they need to work on helping sellers and not just exploiting them. DO NOT USE PROMOTED LISTINGS. That system is just setup to waste as much of your advertising dollars as possible and the results have been hugely disappointing.

Etsy no longer cares about it's sellers! I had a shop for over 5 years, well established, highly rated, never had a report filed or any complaints and recently was rated a star seller. Then a company logged a trademark complaint against my shop. None of my items infringed on their trademark but I had used a word in my 'key words' that (unbeknown to me) was trademarked. Etsy swiftly shut my shop (that was turning over £2K per month) and told me to sort the problem with the complaining party.

After about 6 weeks I managed to contact the company, sort a solution and they agreed to officially retract their complaint against my shop... great I thought... I have done everything Etsy has asked of me and sorted it all out! The complaining company kept their word and officially retracted their complaint as I had email notification from Etsy themselves.

I then reached out to Etsy to get reinstated... and nothing... silence. I am now 10 months on and try and contact Etsy every month to get reinstated. But no luck. This is awful service and is completely unfair. A tiny error which was then resolved results in a complete loss of income. I quickly setup my own website but it doesn't compare.

Etsy you are becoming a platform known for your ridiculous policies and lack of customer service.

Do better!

Yes people it is true! When you get ripped off or treated like crap by a seller, they do NOTHING! They even discontinue the conversation with you. Basically like hanging up on you. I always want to support small business but no wonder small business is becoming less and less common! They don't know anything about customer service. At least Amazon tries! Etsy just doesn't care! If you absolutely have to buy from Etsy, buy from star sellers. They seem to care and it shows! I myself am done with Etsy, after the last two purchases. Amazon, here I come!

Scammers

This site is full of scammers and when you try to get help from Etsy they do nothing to help this company should be shut down idk how they allow people to take your money and then never send your order or respond to you when you ask about your order I placed a order on the first of august and the seller responded for two days then took down his site so I contacted Etsy support and they told me to get my money back I have to wait until today the 17th to get a refund then today the seller magically pops up so I guess they don't have to refund me my money beware of this scamming site I wouldn't recommend to anyone they need to be reported for robbing people out of there money

0 protection for sellers for items over $250!

I'm a top seller on etsy and there is still no seller protection! I have shipped a watch worth over $3000 which was successfully delivered and signed. I have a proof of it! Still Etsy fully refunded the buyer! Don't sell on Etsy over $250 items as you have 0 protection they will just take your money!

I just cannot believe the amount of counterfeit sports cards on sale on Etsy. Why does Etsy take no action on counterfeit sports cards. Etsy should be ashamed they are a front for the sales of counterfeit sports cards. Just take one seller.

50 Count reprints of Michael Jordan auto cards - I can count 10 listings. That is 500 counterfeits. See image below for examples.
While most buyers are unknowingly buying counterfeits, see some comments of this seller.

"Cards were/are completely fake. Not from any legit card maker. Don't buy from them. Do NOT recommend. Will never purchase anything from them again. False advertising and a complete scam."

We are local Bee farm and I am Bee scientist and we have Etsy business account since 2003 so it is 19 years. No returns no charge back but new CEO of Etsy after stock value decline wants to hold money from sellers for 45 days to boost company cash flow. We say no. You Etsy can not take adventage of the people from small twown and village's and keep our money. Shame on You. Magister of Honey Bees from Virginia. I will not ship to UK my last order since we do not get money on time but you charge all UK tak to my client and not your client. Etsy is just a messenger and collect fees. " Payment reserve

Customer Service Is Nonexistent with Etsy

June 26,2022 I placed an order with Giselaandzoe via Etsy. I never received an order confirmation so I messaged the seller a few days after placing order. I received no response from the first nor second nor third.

I decided to wait until after the item is delivery day to decide what to do. The original delivery day was around July 10 the latest. The estimated delivery passed and I noticed I had a new delivery day July 19. That came and went. Never received order.

The seller contacted me finally and never fulfilled her promises.

I contact Klarna because I had a hard time finding the chat bubble that Etsy used to have. Thanks to Klarna I received part of my refund but wasn't refunded the shipping cost.

I get in contact with Etsy and they said that they would help me that was in July August the 1 still no resolution. They keep saying that it's on Klarna's end but Klarna says it's the seller who has control of withholding the shipping.

I have contacted Etsy on several occasions about this matter and they keep saying that they'll get back with me if they need to. And that they will take care of it. I highly doubt it.

I have shopped on Etsy for years and never had a bad seller nor had to deal with Etsy customer service. Now I am done with Etsy. They are truly dishonest and have no idea of what's customer service. No more shopping on Etsy ever again.

Etsy has been sending me promotional emails for months after I have unsubscribed from their email multiple times. When I click the "unsubscribe" button at the bottom of their emails, they take me to a page where I am supposed to uncheck a bunch of email categories. The problem is, I've unchecked these boxes months ago. I receive another email, unrelated to orders I have placed, click the unsubscribe button, and am directed to the same page where all the boxes are already empty! There's nothing more to do to unsubscribe yet I continue to receive promotional emails. Not only that, but I don't mind receiving spam emails to my spam account so I switched my Etsy email to that one. I continue to receive emails to the previous email and now also receive them to my spam. When I tried to access the customer service, it took me to an error page. And continues to take me there. I could not care less about Etsy's emails. Don't sign up with Etsy. I would give zero stars if I could.

Frustrated.

This site closes all access to a customer who does not have an account, I closed my account on their site because I am not interested in buying from this place, unfortunately I have orders that are still open, I have no way to check what's up with the orders, unless I reopen) an account.
I hope you understand the type and quality of their attitude towards the customer, you have been warned, think carefully before you buy, Read the customer reviews about this "platform" called 'Etsy', go google it, you must see what buyers write about their experiences with this place

I don't have a problem with Etsy sellers or buying on Etsy in general, but I DO have a problem with Etsy not enforcing it's own rules and policies, especially when specific examples are brought to their attention. Example: sellers are supposed to post photos of THEIR OWN WORK. They are supposed to sell either the item shown in the photo, or one like it. Numerous sellers of Medieval style armour on Etsy however (all in India) use stolen photos of armour from reputable armourers or even from museums, and pass them off as photos of "their work". What they actually send you is garbage, poorly made, looking nothing like the photo. Etsy will do nothing about this, even when you send them links to the legitimate website where the photos were stolen from!

Another example: Etsy forbids the sale of items that mock or demean people based on a number of things, including religion, yet there are items for sale on Etsy that mock and demean Christianity, such as a poster of a stripper dancing before Christ and his apostles at the last supper. I'm actually not very religious, but know darn well that if the stripper was dancing in front of the Prophet Muhammed, Etsy would yank the poster in a heartbeat. Double standards!

Whats the problem Etsy? Not enough staff to actually DO something about this? Or maybe money is your bottom line?

Don't even bother. Etsy doesn't enforce their own rules and allows cheap, Chinese made garbage to be sold on their website as "handmade" or "vintage" when it's clearly mass-produced. As an online seller myself, I find this extremely dishonest and disgusting. It hurts every honest online seller by driving the price down making it impossible to compete fairly online. Everything is always about the bottom line and to heck with honesty and integrity! You won't have to worry about me EVER buying anything on Etsy and I'm for sure going to give Etsy the reviews they deserve wherever and whenever I find the opportunity. Word of mouth you know is your best friend or worst enemy. Yes, I did attempt to address this with Etsy about 150 times and they did nothing but send me BS excuses and canned email responses.

Fair, but not good

Great idea, poor customer support. I initially thought that the customer here is really protected (like on ebay for example), but it turned out that it is really hard to get them to help in case an item you purchased is low quality or not as described.

Amazon items at a marked-up rate

Despite having clear policies prohibiting the resale of items, many of the sellers on Etsy are simply reselling Amazon products. I learned this the hard way after wanting to support a small business and I received a marked-up Amazon item in its original Amazon packaging. Etsy doesn't seem to care to enforce its own policies and although there may be good businesses and items on the platform, Etsy does not provide good support in resolving disputes with sellers.
