The company's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and unresolved order issues. Many customers report extensive delays in shipping and inadequate communication regarding their purchases, leading to frustration and a sense of helplessness. Additionally, there are widespread concerns about the platform's reliance on automated systems, which fail to provide effective support for both buyers and sellers. Despite some positive experiences with individual sellers, the overarching sentiment highlights a pressing need for improved transparency and accountability from the company to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

Bought decorations ending up not like the picture. When I request return, seller asks me to compensate her shipping despite the fact that she provided FREE SHIPPING on the item. I contacted customer service, they won't refund me back cash either, they only provided website credit, trying to make me spend more. Unacceptable attitude! Disrespectful scammer seller and website!
Don't buy or sell on Etsy. I talk as seller and as buyer as well. In both cases, the support Totally ignore you. As buyer I saw a lot of scammers and as seller they close your shop for no reasons and don't giving you a reason. Totally timelosers. There are a lot of other sites like Fiverr we can go selling or buying.
Please people, be aware about this business. There is not even a phone number to contact them. It is like a guost company. It is basically, like working for them, and investing your money for them for free. I had this item on my shop, which was $77.00 A Client bought it. However, since I had posted that for orders over $100.00 was a free shipping. The order, came up to, a bit over $100.00 with the $25.00 dollars shipping that I had posted it with. So, what they did is this, they charged the customer all the fees, including taxes, the costumer paid like $110.00. I had previously paid them $20.00 in promoting fees, they only refund me $59.and a few pennies for the sale, they kept the rest, and I made 000 profit because I spent $23.00 on shipping fees, plus $20.00 in advertising fees, in fact, it is like I just gave away my beautiful piece of antique, only that I had to even work extra to give it away.
Etsy will shadow ban your shop for posts you make to social media about them & for returning negative surveys. I went from making thousands of dollars in sales every month to nothing in the blink of an eye. The only thing that happened in between was I made a truthful post on social media that portrayed the company's less than stellar side, and responded to a survey they emailed me with honest answers from my experiences. Unfortunately, those honest answers were not what etsy wanted to hear. The company was fantastic BEFORE it incorporated. Now, they are deceitful & care nothing about their sellers, only their stock investors.
I place an order with Etsy and never received a confirmation nor a delivery schedule. When finally I got in contact with them happens that I got transfer to another company which said my order could not be cancel because it was over 48 hours. It took more then 48 hours for them to respond to my delivery request.
The delivery is December and ships from overseas. I leave during the winter and back in March of 2023 and I needed the product before Thanksgiving, DO NOT BUY FROM ETSY. THEY HAVE NO STOCK.
As of today I am done with Etsy. They used to have quality sellers and artisans back in the day, now they basically have scammers and overinflated prices. The sellers have also become very aggressive and will report you if you ask the wrong question or leave an honest review. Reviews should reflect your personal experience but apparently you are allowed to post that. Etsy will throw refunds at you as a way of mediating but won't hold the seller accountable. It's just too much trouble more so than Amazon which is shocking.
I ordered a T shirt, and even after 3 months I didn't receive it. I gave a negative review in response. Imagine, after this, Etsy (Sabina) categorically refused to ship it, saying that why I gave a one-star rating. To get my shirt, I changed the review from one star to 5 stars. Still, I didn't get it. Now I have canceled the order...
In the last 3 years I have ordered multiple times from various vendors from etsy and always got the products delivered in time.
Super easy to work with. It was my first time using a service like this and they helped me along the way.
Smooth and easy process to buy. Thank you and will be looking for more deals on your site in the future. Staff is so friendly, they make you feel like home. I've purchased several timepieces from them and I highly recommend them.
As a Seller on Etsy my complaint is lack of seller support. On positive they always pay on time. As a Buyer never had any problems, although a lot of flipping and commercial items listed.

Whomever was communicating with me utilized surprisingly poor communication technique. They were not only very slow filling a very simple order of about $150 worth of hardware they decided to refund the money after breif dialogue and refused to continue communication. My son is a Navy Officer Medical Corpsman. He tells me he has to personally deal with young people who do not get accepted into more difficult courses. He says the suicide rate is rather prevalent. When a candidate "washes" out of a preferred course selection they go commit suicide. Which of course is tragic. He states emotional weakness is what drives this. Our planet is full of emotionally weak people. This is about all most of experience any more conducting consumer transaction. I attempted to explain to whomever was communicating with me that I could not really understand their half hearted efforts to which they excused themselves stating they were in a rush. Well that is a common excuse many use now days to refrain from providing real customer service. After a few attempts to get the individual to clarify poor effort that person just refunded my money forcing me to return search for the birthday gift I was attempting to buy for my Fiancé. I even explained that and the individual did not care that now the gift effort I was attempting to make in a timely manner now was not only going to be late it was now not getting sent at all. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
I ordered two products from a seller in July. The shipping date was to be in September. Up until shipping, the seller's communication was great. Then when she sent me tracking information, the package was languishing in pre-transit status for 2 weeks. When I asked her about it, she said she would call the post office. I don't know about your area, but our post office wouldn't be much help over the phone so I asked her to send me a copy of the shipping receipt. Wouldn't you know she stopped communicating? So I opened a case with Etsy stating that my desired resolution would be to receive replacement items or proof that the originals had really been shipped. Instead Etsy immediately refunded my money, ensuring the seller that they were covering it for her and not taking it out of her funds. Clearly she never shipped it or she'd be outraged. So now here I am, back at square one after wasting 2.5 months on her making items that I don't have enough time to order from anyone else. And what is ridiculous is in the meantime, her store says the items are "in stock" and she is running sales. Apparently Etsy sellers are under no obligation to communicate with their buyers and the buyers are the ones that are penalized. Seller lied about shipping and has zero repercussions. Never. Again.
The shop Sacred Jewelry Pamelia Designs is one of those Etsy shops that gives resellers a bad name. Her jewelry items are inferior in materials and workmanship. When I wrote about a problem, the shop proprietor (Pamela C Diegert) said no one else had a problem. She refuses to accept exchanges or issue refunds and is arrogant about it. I was particularly disappointed in necklaces, which were very expensive. The components seem to be glued together and there is felt and badly knotted cords for necklace beads. I am unlikely to order from her again, nor from Etsy. Thank you.
I just opened an account and they took it down for selling a inert paper weight grenade. I saw a lot of people sell the same thing and it's fine with Etsy. I have the account open for a day. So I closed the account and sold the same item on eBay with no bs like Etsy.
If you're a seller, watch out for Etsy's dodgy billing practices. They intentionally make the billing extremely complicated and unclear. They don't notify you of what you're being billed for, and hold your shop ransom. They will suspend your shop WHILE charging you for it, and while it's suspended, they keep racking up the bill on a shop that cannot sell anything. They then refuse to let you close it until you've paid up. And yes, you guessed it, while you dispute the payment, they continue charging you on a suspended shop. Absolutely trash ethics. Shame on all of you.
I never thought that Etsy will have the worst customer support and policy. I ordered items through Etsy. The seller was not responding properly and items were not shipped at all. I contacted Etsy to resolve this issue and refund my money. I tried all possible means, chat, and calls. No one was able to resolve this issue. Sometimes Etsy call support disconnects my call whenever I question them. I feel Amazon and other sellers are much better than this worst Etsy. I am sure I won't use Etsy hereafter and my 90$ money is gone now. No one from Etsy is ready to help me. It's a total waste of time. I wish Etsy should go out of business.
I just recently listed on Etsy after a bit of time brainstorming clothing brand ideas and designing a logo. I really like how easy it was to set up a store, design my products and put them up for sale so I'd say I'm fairly hopeful that I can expand on this brand in the future. I decided to price all of my items with only 5% profit margin after calculating shipping in the price. I'd really like to see this grow, even if that means keeping a 5% margin for a year or more.
Their custom vehicle emblems fit perfectly and enhance my f150. Their customer service is top rated, so regard the negative comments that say otherwise. Ryan the owner took care of my order personally from start to finish!
If your account is suspended or you have an item removed, Etsy is not singling you out. Someone has reported you! And it's usually another seller that is selling the same product, and trying to kick you off the block. Etsy has millions of sellers, so they are not picking on you! They probably don't even know you exist! And Etsy knows this, but they don't care! I mean they don't even bother to answer your emails. The best thing to do is, if you already have an account, open up another one for backup, so if you get suspended, you can just move your ads over & keep on selling... Because sellers are vicious! And will report you, especially if you're selling same things they are at a cheap price! They want you gone! So they can be only seller selling that product.
Answer: Check the reviews, and Google the seller. Also, are the reviews written in good english? Does it seem fake? Check pictures from the buyers.
Answer: I would have to say no, with LOTS of exceptions. In the past few years Etsy has allowed business to claim handmade if it meets certain criteria. I often see many items that claim to be handmade but I have seen them on Alibaba being sold in bulk. That being said I look very closely and have purchased some wonderfu items from great sellers. The biggest problem with Etsy is that they no longer protect customers from fraud (they say they are not liable) but in doing that lots and lots or resellers and counterfeit items have saturated Etsy' s marketplace. I would never buy anything "vintage" there. What I have seen you are getting thrift store rejects or modern fake. Buyer beware! Investigate all vendors carefully!
Answer: I am agree with Ramina. 90% is not hand made. All comes from Factories. When someone has over 8000's item don't you ask who made it. They are all over from Pakistan to turkey east to west up united state. Etsy is happy just to take your money and every 4 or 5 months closing one store to show off and if you have some money as a credit they take it too. No customer service, no respect no manor, they made policy just for FUN and they have FUN with our pocket. Stay far from them FAR FAR.
Answer: I agree with Steve J on this one. A lot of sellers on Etsy work from home in the evenings for extra money. Most of them are not big businesses with massive inventories so I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Give them a little more time and if they dont send it out then file a case with etsy
Answer: Business checking isn't necessary (the banks now charge a monthly fee for a small business checking). You can pretty much set up a regular checking account
Answer: I believe this depends on each seller. Etsy is simply a platform for sellers, and often does not have any direct involvement with orders short of processing the payment. Certain items cannot be returned for safety and hygiene reasons, and sellers can refuse to do anything other than exchange. Contacting Etsy may or may not change the results.
Answer: If you do, I would be cautious about ordering from international sellers, use a credit card in case you need to contest the charges, and do NOT expect ETSY do a thing if you get ripped off. They are useless and could care less once the sale is final.
Answer: I have bought a number of items through Etsy and with great success. I had only one negative experience and Etsy took are of that. I recommend Etsy wholeheartedly.
Answer: The best and quickest thing to do is to email the seller and let them know that you would like to return for a refund.
