I've never been so poorly treated as a customer. Rude customer service, limited trading ability, they will never be helpful towards the retail trader. I switched to TD Ameritrade and made 400% profits with everything you need at your fingertips.
I've been trying for 15 years to close a CD at Etrade Bank. There is no communication near maturity and you can't get customer service on the phone. This year I started two months before maturity, uploading documents and assuming all was in order. It is now 14 days since maturity and there has still been no activity on disbursing my account. I filed a complaint with the Consumer Protection Unit at the Department of Trade. They said that while every major bank and brokerage form has signed an agreement with them to receive and act on reprimands, Etrade has refused to do so.
F- ZERO ZIP ZILCH NADA! Avoid like the dang plague. Maybe if you have close to a million $$ you will get good service but nothing short of that apparently matters.
Can't reach humans online or off. Can't even send emails anymore through the customer section in your account. These people HATE their customers with an indifference and level of snobbery that is disgusting, classist, and stinks of wall-street elite attitudes.
We would give it a zero if possible. F- Morgan Stanley & Etrade are the WORST.
I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER AT E TRADE FOR 20 YEARS. ALWAYS BEEN THE BEST QUICK PERFECT PHONE SERVICE. THEY RECENTLY PARTNERED UP WITH MORGAN STANLY BANK TRIED TO CALL THIS MORNING TO CONFIRM WHEN MY CD MATURES I WAS PUT ON HOLD FOR 90 MINS NEVER NOT THRU I GUESS IF THEY CAN NOT GET A HANDLE ON THIS SOON I WILL DUMP THEM SAD *******331 CALL AND VERIFY FOR YOURSELF.
When I deposit funds electronically, Etrade does not give credit for those funds for about 10 days, so you will likely miss opportunities as I did. Also, 27 days ago, I requested to move cash from Etrade to another online platform, and the money still hasn't moved. I've called and called, but the queue is always over 60 minutes during regular hours; I finally called at 6:30 am and got through their phone line in only 17 minutes. Dan with Etrade stated that it was the other company's fault that Etrade rejected the transfer without telling me or the other platform. When I asked how long electronic transfers should happen, Dan stated they normally only take about a week. Etrade makes their money by holding your cash for as long as they can hold it, which would be fine if it weren't costing me opportunities to invest when I'm ready.
Awful customer service! Hour long hold times and I have had to call FIVE TIMES to simply get a back-door Roth conversion done. This is not something they allow you to do yourself online and they screw it up every step of the way... My son did this in one 20 minute call with Fidelity. It was all handled. I have spent an entire day of my time on it due to the incompetence of Etrade service reps...
Absolutely terrible customer experience, and that comes from someone who's worked in airline customer support. Attempting to log on to a new account produced an internal error, which had to be directed around 3 times, with 30 minute wait times each transfer. I cancelled my account.
Do not use Etrade. They screw deposits, untimely tax forms and general lack of caring. Use Schwab.
Customer service calls used to be answered in 10-20 mins. Now it's a minimum of 1 hr. And even then they can't get anything right. They got my Roth and Regular IRA contributions wrong and had to make several calls to fix their error. Each time at least 1 hr of waiting before a human came on line. All this since Morgan Stanley acquired the company. Not surprised - the first thing they do is cut cost by letting people go without any thought how it affects customer experience. Will look into moving my accounts somewhere else.
My wife and I have been trying to get an estate done for the past year and have had nothing but problems with E*Trade. This last phone call I waited on hold for 2 HOURS! No responses to emails and just a run around.
Most of the positive reviews of Etrade were several years ago. Since JP Morgan took over, the platform has become slow, buggy, and frustrating. Customer service calls take a minimum of 30 minutes to get through, after which one is directed to technical support to wait another 20 minutes.
I have been an Etrade customer for more than 25 years. I have moved my 4 accounts, including three IRA accounts, all totaling over $4 million to Tastyworks. Their platform is fast, efficient, logical and easier to use.
Trading has become a pleasure again instead of a frustrating ordeal.
I tried to open an account. It was immediately restricted for "fraud" after multiple calls to customer service--each with a wait over 60 min--they were never able to resolve whatever their issue was and wouldn't even let me close the account and I'm out the deposit I made when opening the account.
I've had 4 large $$$ deposits, via check, that have sat in a deep dark hole for 2 + months before I see the deposit. The typical excuse "short on labor due to Covid"... which is not an acceptable reason any longer. It should not take 10 weeks to see a deposit. Obviously frustrating, puts my security at risk, and odd they would not want that money deposited ASAP as well. This is money that could have been invested. I am moving my money out, and I have a significant balance.
Nothing but problems with them, nothing is easy and trying to get through to them is impossible. Awful compared to others and I just want to take my money out and leave but I can't withdrawal my settled money. So bull$#*! and I have been on the phone waiting for 2 hours already.
I waited 3 months and still never was able to trade. I turned in extra documentation, sent emails, sent questions through chat, and in the end the only way to get help is to wait for 2 1/2 hrs on the phone. I did this twice with them. Their app is crap too. Stash and Robinhood are way more user friendly. I closed my etrade account with not ever making a single stock purchase because they never let me. Customer service doesn't really seem to care. I think they get a million calls with the same complaints.
I verified my account back in July by allowing them to ping my account and deposit a few cents into my account. You verify it by putting in the about of money that was sent to your account through the deposit. I did one trade and now came back a few months later and it says I have to start the process over again. Except now wait times are over 2 hours daily. So there is no reaching them to verify an account. This is really the worst trading company ever. I miss when Scottstrade existed.
Rejected all my withdraw requests, they really should not be allowed to trade to begin with as they do not hold any form of licence when I took my time to check them out. Reached out to experts at REClaim, tech fortunately they took my case and got my money back, kept me updated through the entire process.
After many times waiting two hours or more I finally decided to move my account to Schwab. My ETrade rep did his best to block the transfer. Took very long time to complete. Please avoid this broker.

Time and time again, when I place an order and the stock hits my target price, my trade does not get executed. This is not just a one time event, it's very common and so frustrating. I place Limit Orders, and of course I never get a better price than my Limit, but not getting my orders filled at all, when my price is at the market, results in my losing real money. I don't know how or why they stay in business if they can't fill your order when the market shows they should. What's the use of having an account with them? I will have to look for an online broker with a better track record.
The worst brokerage I ever dealt with. Unauthorized trade, securities disappearing from account and inability to get in touch with them, this is what you'll get if you choose them as your broker
Answer: They stole my money too! They are thieves. Be aware! Be very afraid!
Answer: Old post but everybody is better then etrade! Start with TD ameritrade they are very good
Answer: Was a legit company until Morgan Stanley took over, not I would say SCAM< SCAM< SCAM!
