I tried to no avail to resolve this issue at the lowest level. Somehow, the math of eTrade failed to credit a balance from my bank transfer; though it's not a big amount, it is my money, and I'm tired of reaching out to incompetent representatives who can't figure out an answer. I'm escalating this theft to the governmental authorities in hope that someone will hold eTrade accountable. I already transferred my Roth IRA to the competition, and will ensue with the rest of the traditional IRA portfolio.
Was about to lose a lot of money to this company if not for the help from winconsultants, ltd that assisted me on the case and I was able to get my investments back.
They can be really tricky and have a lot of that up their sleeves. They almost had me but so grateful it never happened, it would have wrecked me.
The customer service I was talking on the phone today some how they were unable to help me I asked for a manager and they told me you're not qualify to talk with a manager as a client because I wasn't a big client meaning I don't have a lot of money in the account

N e-trade has arrive! I am trying to get info on a deceased persons account. There are not even any choices of departments in the automated system. This has to be the most awful phone experience ever for me. Two calls and over half an hour wasted each time. Terrible loud music, no break ins to even say "sorry, you're still on hold"! One guy said put you on hold for a few minutes! HAHAHA
E Trade fails to respond to correspondence. Customer service does not exist.
They do not follow the laws of the state of Florida, seems they make up their own as they go.
Wish I had known how bad their ratings were before waisting time with this company.
45-minute wait at *******331. Not a single contact form at https://us.etrade.com/contact-us. After six separate attempts (resetting my password) to authenticate, I still hadn't been able to get into their tool. No, before anyone questions it. I didn't put in the new passwords incorrectly. Etrade should hire more support, a 45-minute wait is unacceptable. I called Morgan Stanley (their owners) and complained about it. MS patched me into Etrade and the support specialist was unable to help me reset my password properly.
Bad showing here... Etrade is completely blowing it. Pity, I had $50,000 to put in today. TD Ameritrade it is! Teach them the hard way, in the pocket!
Based on the phone call we just received [Despite repeated attempts to communicate via email, they insist on calling us.], we will be moving all our current investments away from ETrade, and we will find somewhere else to invest. We will be doing this due to lack of confidence. Allow me to illustrate.
We sent paperwork to change our account (from individual to Joint) in April. Late April we received an email that ETrade attempted to contact us via phone and didn't have the right number. I replied in less than 90 minutes with the correct number. I did not receive a call (that I recognized) or nor a voicemail identifying who is calling from a given number. Two weeks later I reached out again (via email). I receive no "out of the office" notification. I reiterated my issue and asked for assistance again. No reply. Two weeks later I AGAIN reached out. No OOTO, no reply. Another week, another email. Finally my wife picks up the phone because the caller ID actually says ETrade. We get a gentleman on the phone who tells us:
Jessica has been on maternity leave. Since when? How does she not have a backup? How is there not an automated reply? How does a company the size of ETrade have no processes in place? And how do they expect me to feel confident with them managing my money?
We are also told:
There is a backlog in paperwork
Ours will be processed in order it was received
ETrade can provide NO ESTIMATE whatsoever as to when the paperwork will be completed.
So, not only has it been MONTHS for paperwork to process, but ETrade is so disorganized that they cannot even give me an estimate of when that paperwork will be done. We have been waiting to move my 401k from a trust that is not earning any interest. So we have now lost 2+ months of interest, or something in the ballpark of $3-5k, and they can't tell me how much more I will lose by staying with ETrade. We are cutting our losses. Would not recommend for anyone.
Unbelievable the lack of service from this entity. Ordered a replacement debit card on 5/27/22. Not only did I not receive and had to message and contact via phone (Chat Offline for 2 weeks), but 5 separate requests to have my debit card delivered, instead my case was cancelled and closed without any communication to me via phone, email or text. Additionally, unable to order a replacement online. WTF! How is this good business.
Etrade is my broker for investing in stocks. They closed my account for no reason - no one can tell me why. My money is locked up - I can not access it.
I need to snail mail them a slew of docs... still wating...
When i called customer service ask something they didn't came on phone till 55 minutes, i would say call them take nap then they will response your phone call i won't recommend use their service
Steal lie and take all the money is their moto... Stay away from them. Better go to casino better chances not to lose your money
I have been an E*TRADE customer for more than 25 years. I used to like their service very much but not anymore. Very few companies like E*TRADE have uniformly low customer ratings on various platforms. More than 80 days ago, I requested an external share transfer. Surprisingly, after so many days, the request still goes in nowhere despite I made numerous calls and writing dozen online messages. Every time, there was always a different person to answer me. They all sound friendly but no help. The standard reply is this is the transfer team side problem. There is nothing the customer supporter can do except write down a note. However, the E*TRADE transfer team does not communicate with the customer. I have been exhausted and really don't know how to move forward with this request.
I'm a professional Insurance Broker for over 25 years, meaning that I interact with customer service and performance of big companies daily and never work with an entity with so unprofessional lack of training CSR waiting time and unfair Co. After opening or trying to do so with no reason after over 12 calls and waiting on hold for over 12 hours they decided to close my account (that was never really open) with no explanation because they said they don't give reasons when they "Closed an account" They make me send copies of all types of ID's they made a three way call with my bank they verify everything, why they did that? Well who knows because no even a supervisor knows. What I know now is that my money is there in their account and now I have to wait for over six business day to get my money back, of course if is true what the last supervisor told me because every time you cal that company they told you one thing and they do another. Worst worst company to do business with, I never like to write reviews but I think this e*trade deserves it.
A simple request of changing beneficiaries could not be accomplished after two full months.
No one cares and they do not communicate, just stall.

Whether you are a large investor/trader or a small one, you should be very aware of a problem I experienced. I had a number of puts that I wanted to "sell/close" that were about ready to expire with good value and when I went in to put in the order to sell, the Etrade system would not recognize the stock symbol. I sent a number of messages to their customer service and did not hear back(nor could I sit on my desk and wait the 1-2 hours to hear a live voice) until "after" the puts had reversed direction and became worthless. Etrade customer service said that because I didn't have a record of putting in the order, they would not reimburse me for "some" of my loss, but I told them they didn't have a record because THEIR system wouldn't let me put in the order! They said "So sorry" and moved on. So remember--if you have a crucial time sale that needs to be placed and their is a system failure, it's apparently the customer's fault and you are screwed. I am closing my account after 25 years with them and moving on to someone with some accountability and better operating systems.
The beneficiary dept. took what was months to do a simple transfer of my mother's accounts (she had passed) to a new account that was set up for that purpose. After long phone hold waits (1-2 hours), the beneficiary dept. would make some excuse for the delay/ or ask for a new document or info, or tell me that everything would be completed in 1 to 2 weeks. It was always something. Now more recently, etrade screwed up the 1099 that they sent out to me. I notified them of this 2 & 1/2 weeks in advance of the April 18 filing deadline. Didn't receive it in time for tax filing so had to apply for an extension. Now more than 3 weeks has elapsed since filing deadline and still haven't received corrected 1099 despite their assurance I would have it by now. My advice is do not invest with this company. The customer service is some of the worst I have seen in any business.
Currently I have been waiting do get a corrected 1099 form to do my taxes. They told me I would 1 to 2 weeks and as of yet it still hasn't arrived. I filed my taxes doing the correction myself and now if the IRS doesn't get the corrected 1099 from Trade I'll be subject to an audit.
I receive a warning while trying to access my account through turbo tax that my account is locked for suspicious activity. Ok, but the problem is there is no way to unlock your account unless you call in and speak to someone in customer service. 2 attempts and over 90 minutes I get no where except a list of what to do. Upload a signed letter and copy of drivers license. 5 days later my account is still locked. No trades are allowed all this time. I call again, oh call back you have to talk to account activation and they are not in until 0900. Wait another hour and talk to a pleasant rep by the name of a car, but only to find out my account still remains locked after three more days. Also, allegedly they say my account was not locked from turbo tax but the suspicious activity occurred in November. I was able to trade after this date so do they know what they are doing? I will be stopping my biweekly deposit, removing my cash amount and going with another company that will allow me to unlock online and not waste 4 plus hours on the phone and cause me to lose out on some good trading opportunities.
They withheld my money for no reason they keep telling money was hang up in untraceable source. It was all because i deliberately called on financial crime authority before my money can be withdraw

Answer: Old post but everybody is better then etrade! Start with TD ameritrade they are very good
Answer: Was a legit company until Morgan Stanley took over, not I would say SCAM< SCAM< SCAM!
