I transferred all of my money into a premium savings account for a higher interest rate.
I then set up my bank so that I could wire transfer money to pay bills.
When I went to wire money they locked my account.
I've submitted every document they requested, went through every verification process they have and spent the last 4 days on the phone with customer service ( you can't get past them to talk to anyone who can make a decision) they promise some one will call you back they never will. It's now day 5 with no pathway to getting my account unlocked so I can pay my bills. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH E-TRADE THIS COMPANY HAS NO CONCERN FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS.
The website is so dysfunctional it keeps showing the wrong balance, which is significantly lower than the actual balance, causing daily anxiety and panic.
E*Trade has a "Reorganization fee". That is a fee that they charge you for an organization split/merger, etc.: the events that you cannot predict and that are not initiated by you. Interestingly, this a fixed amount fee, so you are being charged $38 even if you have a single stock that costs less that that. If you have millions of stocks, you won't notice, but... I guess the majority of individual investors have less than that invested, so that is noticable.
Being a Morgan Stanley employee, I had to transfer my securities to E*Trade. No option. I was charged $38 for several times.
From my prior experience, I never was charged such a fee by my previous brocker, so I'm disappointed by E*Trade. Not even money worth, I feel disrespect from the brocker to individual investors.
I opened a solo 401k and have spent numerous hours on the phone trying to get my account removed from restricted status so I can purchase equities. Their support is so bad it almost seems like they don't want or care about customers. I speak to support and they tell me they took care of it and my account will be activated again. I call back 3 days later and someone else tells me they need more information or the other person didn't submit it. I DO NOT RECOMMENDED ETRADE!
I have traded futures, options and equities with etrade. 2 weeks ago, I put in a trade on the app and the price hit the limit price and the open order was removed from my orders, meaning the order was executed and I should have had the position in my portfolio. However, the position was not there. No open order, no position, but the market was moving and the losses on the account was appearing on top of the screen. This lasted for a few minutes before the position appeared in my account and I closed the position. The same day it happened to me on etrade's regular website and I called etrade customer service. They connected me to the futures desk and i explained the situation. The agent told me that this probably happened because of a temporary issue and shouldn't happen frequently. I tried to explain again that it makes one hesitant about trading when there are system glitches. He said it shouldn't happen again and this part ended.
Last week on thursday evening, I placed a few orders and closed them because I don't like to sleep with the stress of an open position. Before going to bed at night, I checked all the open orders and current positions on the etrade app, as I do every day. Open orders in my futures account were blank and so was the positions tab. I went to bed. Next morning I woke up and when i looked at my phone, there was an open position in my account which was losing value. I closed the position immediately and called etrade. I was connected to futures desk again and explained the situation. I told them I had an issue with the app the week before as well. He asked me why I was trading on this app if I don't like it. I asked for a refund for the lost amount on this trade, the amount i lost because of the system glitch. Later, I was told they didn't find a system issue and they would not refundmy loss from this particular trade.
I always own up to my bad trades, however for this one I feel like etrade stole from me. I hope other people who have had similar issues come out and we can bring this to the attention of public.
Do not invest your hard earned money with this group. There is no upside with this bunch of thieves. They will steal your money. Unknown fee's. Reverse splits that reduce your share count, with fee's on top of them. Then they will sale your stock without your Authorization. Apparently they reserve the right to do this. Thieves... The one Star was an over rating. Had to put it in order to leave a review.
Etrade mis-reported my cost basis inside my IRA on a limited partnership. This is causing me to owe $27,000 in taxes for UBTI. The company won't explain to me how this is being calculated so that I can help them fix what they did. I can't speak with the department that handles the reporting. I was told today that "Even if they wanted to speak with you, they couldn't" What kind of company makes policies that prohibit employees from helping customers with problems?
I would never invest with Etrade. If you ever need to appoint a power of attorney to handle your account, you may never get your money back. I've worked for FOUR MONTHS to try and get the power of attorney form approved. It's ETrade's form and all instructions were followed exactly. Every representative says they are processing the form. You cannot speak to a supervisor and you cannot get a return call.
Was unhappy with service, so I liquidated all securities and called to close account. They are refusing and holding my balance hostage.
I was on hold for 6 and a half hours to get an answer to my question about a suspicious log in. Turned out to be nothing but 6.5 hours on hold!?
Horrible interface if you need to reset your password. Super frustrating, can't do it online, requires you call customer service with up to 30-minute wait, and then when you go to give them feedback in their feedback form to improve their system it says "unsafe characters in comments are not allowed", even took out all the hyphens - icing on the cake
I have been trying to close out my account for more than 8 months. They are keeping my money. They are thief's DO NOT trade with them. Phone hold times are 90 minutes. Then when they answer they say they are sending a check in two business days and they DONOT do so. Be afraid be very afraid. Laura Blair, very unsatisfied victim
E-Trade suddenly altered its order-entry system, making it impossible to enter an option order. It also made it impossible for a customer to view "transactions" in his account. All this was done without any warning or explanation.
Even worse, I sent messages on a daily basis for a week, asking someone to contact me. When I attempted to reach "customer service" by phone, I received an unhelpful recorded message.
After Etrade flagged my account for suspicious activity, I called them to resolve the issue and was told they (etrade) never verified my identity when I previously requested to have funds from my IRA transferred to my personal checking account, on 2 seperate occasions. On my 3rd request to transfer, my account was flagged. I complied with their requests to upload proof of identification. I even had to take a picture of myself holding 2 forms of ID and email it to a provided email address... I couldnt upload it online because they also locked me out. I am now going on 2 months of trying to access over $6,000 of my money. Etrade has since terminated my account (and my husband's account which was separate from mine), locked us both out from online account services, and etrade will not respond to any emails requesting the status of sending the balance that i had in the account. I've called customer service multiple times and waited on hold for up to 2 hours just to be told "There's literally nothing we can do for you ma'am. I can submit a request for a call back that takes up to 2 business days, but they aren't going to be able to help you either." -DeAndre, Etrade Cusomer Service Representative.
I have filed complaints with the BBB and now filing with the Attorney General. I don't know what else to do to get my money. It's like a bad dream on repeat! I will not do business with etrade or recommend them to anyone in the future.
Time and again my account gets deactivated. I need to reactivate by calling customer services. I called them and waited for 50 minutes to get it activated. It got deactivated again in 2 days.
This time I waited for 40 minutes in 1800ETRADE. After verification and asking all the questions, he forwarded me to another team, for another wait time of 50 minutes.
The service is really painful and bad. Would never recommend even my enemy.
I disputed 3 unauthorized transactions on my debit card. 15 days later, I am told the matter is still being investigated. I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor 7 days ago. I am still waiting to talk with someone and I am still waiting for my money to be returned to my account. The person that I spoke with today, told me, "don't worry about it..." I guess he is right, I mean, its just my money that was stolen from my account. I shouldn't worry about it. That is what I call poor customer service!
This company is insane.
Over 1h wait on the phone to speak with a representative to move my funds out of this account.
The site is broken and doesn't allow me to add an external account. The representative closed my account before I moved my funds out. What in the actual F#$%?
Now calling back I have a 90 minutes wait time?!?
Stay away.
My husband who dies recently has $600 in etrade. It has taken 4 months to get anyone to call me and a complaint to the SEC directly.
Still not resolved. ETrade does not answer their phone number.
Have had an Etrade account for years, as did my Mother at my suggestion. I started trying to get an estate account made out of her personal account back in October. Phone hang time was/is unbelievable. Most of the reps were very social, many had no knowledge of estate accounts. There seemingly is a serious lack of communication between dept. managers and their minions. Completed closure of accts 7/16/22 I think
Tried to active my account and was on hold for an hour and no response, definitely close my account with them
Answer: They stole my money too! They are thieves. Be aware! Be very afraid!
Answer: Old post but everybody is better then etrade! Start with TD ameritrade they are very good
Answer: Was a legit company until Morgan Stanley took over, not I would say SCAM< SCAM< SCAM!
