After posting my previous review, eShakti contacted me and gave me credit in full ( price of dress & customization & shipping) towards another dress. The new dress arrived on time, and was of good quality. The only thing that wasn't good was that 2 grommets fell out of the belt of the dress before it arrived. I will keep eShakti in mind when I am looking for a new dress.
I ordered two dresses from the website on April 4,2017. I did not receive the dresses until April 27. On April 11, I received an email with a coupon code for $10 off my next purchase due to "an unexpected rise in orders" and they could not honor the shipping time given at purchase.
Well when they did arrive, one of the dresses did not fit correctly, the straps are too long to the point where my bra shows full in the back and on the sides and the length drags on the floor when it is not supposed to. I paid for customization! For it to work, I am going to have to pay more to get it altered! The other was a long sleeve midi wrap dress which does not have this issue.
I have tried twice to contact the company regarding getting a refund for the incorrectly made dress and have received no response from them at all. Horrible customer service. Horrible. I will say the quality of the fabrics is good, but their customer service leaves much to be desired. They will go out of business if they don't fix the issues they are currently having. With zero communication from the company, I can't say I will ever order from them again, nor encourage others to purchase from them. I never spout off about a problem with companies, choosing to just not purchase from them anymore, but I will give them another few days for a response, if I don't hear back from them I will use social media to tell my story and warn others off purchasing from them. No kidding- I am that disappointed and frustrated.
I have never been so impressed with a dress shop. The designs are killer and the prices are super affordable. They also offer a minimal cost to make the dress custom to fit your body. Its so awesome! I loved every dress I received and I will buy again!

I received the dresses after 6 clearance days. DHL in India apparently had a multi-day national holiday in New Delhi. So, I might review the information and give India a review one day. DHL hustled to get my order through customs and once it was in Germany, they kept moving. DHL gave me good service, too. Thank you!

The 4th day of "clearance event" is disconcerting. I look forward to receiving the order. However, I caution ordering an occasion garment at this time. They have a lot of work to do. Apparently, clearance paperwork is required for three custom dresses going to the Americas.
I have ordered a dress which I was told would arrive Aug. 11. This is a dress for a funeral. The last I checked the DHL tracking it is in New Delhi on Aug. 10th. How will I magically have this dress in time? I did not know this company was in India and shipping from there - I never would have ordered. There is no indication on their website about their location. It's very misleading. They tell you what you want to hear. DO NOT ORDER, THERE ARE OTHER PLACES TO SHOP. I will update with the progress - if any from their customer service. I am also going to post this to Facebook.

I was sceptical about ordering something custom made as with other sites I had had some bade luck with fit and fabric. But there was a dress that I just loved, and so I took all my measurements filled in the details (which there was a lot) and sent it off. Very reasonably priced when you get the welcome voucher. The dress turned up yesterday, and fits like a dream, the fabric is as good as it looks, and I couldn't be happier.
I was nervous about ordering from a company that was new to me. I knew no friends that had experienced eshakti. I always read reviews and back out but decided to just go with this because I really wanted this dress I knew it was coming from overseas so I didn't expect it right away. It actually didn't take long at all! It came in a small, flat box... Thinking no way this could be the dress. It surprised me, it looked like the dress that was presented and was made extremely well! I am very satisfied with my purchase and even though I will always be nervous on future orders, I will continue to do business with them.
I've never posted a negative review for anything, and in my many years online shopping, I've had some duds. I can't say anything about their clothes, because I didn't get that far. I paid for my order through PayPal. The payment went through, cleared in a second, but there's no record of my order anywhere. The items are still in my cart. The first customer service agent I talked to, yesterday, said that they've had issues with PayPal (then why do you still offer that as an option?) Then she said I could call my bank (is that really how this company is supposed to solve this problem-- by sending me to my bank?). She couldn't do any more because "corporate is overseas" and "they are all sleeping." Of course I understand, but should I have to? I'm out almost $100 and nothing to show for it, especially not any sign of concern from the company that I'm out this money, straight from my bank, and I still haven't heard them say anything close to "I'm sorry you had to go through this," let alone an actual apology for taking my money without giving me something in return, or, heaven forbid, an actual refund. I was told I would be contacted this morning. Nothing. So I called again today. Same deal; no "I'm sorry," no, "we'll get you your money back as soon as possible." All I was told is that "they're looking into it." No sense of a timeline, what the process is. I was actually told that they couldn't just refund me the money, because they had to make sure this had actually happened (!). Plus, I was condescendingly told, theirs is a big company with lots of transactions. It takes a while to find my order. I guess an apology is out of the question, what with being such a big company and all. I suppose a single transaction of a little less than $100 is not worth the actual good customer service. Takes a special kind of customer service to make my business feel inconsequential.
I really wanted to like you, eShakti, because the dresses are so beautiful, but of course I'm not coming back. I'm sure you won't miss me and my single transaction. I hope I get my money back someday.
I have had nothing but a great experience using eShakti. I've read many of the comments here and some you need to take with a grain of salt. For one, I think people who think an overseas item will arrive just so has another thing coming. If you have a grain of buying outside the US, you will know that sometimes customs is an issue. This is NOT the fault of anyone but the red tape that needs to clear before your items arrive. Secondly, people need to know that different fabrics yield different fit. Cotton will fit one way, cotton blend will fit another, etc etc. Thirdly, don't measure yourself - get a professional to do this. Some people want to think they can do it all and they are fooling themselves. Lastly, dont think whatever you buy will fit like the model. You're fooling yourself. We all have different bodies and shapes and to think one item will fit everyone the same is just plain ridiculous and stupid.
Could they do a better job at customer service? Maybe. I would think that business has gotten bigger since I first heard of it. Example: I know 4 friends of mine now also ordering. Imagine if that's the case for a few hundred people telling others to order? Businesses take time to adapt to big shifts like this and that should be carefully planned for by the company too.
I've bought now 4 pieces of clothing, with another order waiting to be shipped. Never had an issue. In fact, I requested an item be shipped in less then the allocated shipping time and the request was granted. Quality of my dresses is amazing. If you are on the fence about ordering, take advantage of the $25 off the first purchase like I did and DO NOT buy something critical like a dress for an event. Try it and see how it goes. You may end up more pleased than you thought.
I made my first eShakti purchase this year. I ordered custom made pants and it was the first time in my life that the pants I ordered fit the way they do on the model. She was tall and thin, I'm short and curvy. Yet, the pants draped in the right places and I've never gotten so many compliments on a pair of pants before. I ordered a pre-sized wrap and only customized the sleeves. This also fits so beautifully.
I am anxiously awaiting my most recent eShakti order of two shirts. Admittedly, I'm nervous after reading these reviews and after not choosing custom sizing. I'm really hoping everything goes well because I really need these pieces for work.

I have been buying from Eshakti for the last 9 months. I am always happy with the service and product. As a seamstress who has a very demanding schedule I love being able to order dresses, Pants, and rompers that are custom fit to me (a tall and very busty size 16 with a small waist and wide hips). Before Christmas I ordered a green dress to wear for Christmas day (we were hosting for the first time in our new home). It came a couple weeks before christmas (maybe less) and it didn't fit. (waistline was too high). I sent them an email with pictures showing where it did not fit and told them how it needed to be fixed. They answered the next day or two and told me they would rush me a new custom dress to arrive by Dec 23rd. It came on the 22nd and fit perfectly. They asked me to donate the first dress to the charity of my choice. I have 7 dresses, two rompers and a pair of trousers from eshakti and I get compliments on ALL of the items, every time I wear them. Also -Pockets in everything! I love that I can change the necklines, hems, and sleeves. And now the fabrics! We will be ordering our bridesmaids dresses from them next year. Super happy with my orders.
I ordered for the first time and it was my fault, not theirs. I didn't measure myself because I am generally able were standard factory cuts. The dresses are beautiful! (on my sister). I will measure myself next time to get a better fit. The dresses arrived in a timely fashion, and I had return labels if I needed to return. I have a harder time fitting my height than I do anything else and the hems on the dresses were perfect. I loved the dresses so much I ordered again and have referred many friends who are very happy with their purchases.
I bought from eShakti a couple of times (more fool me), and the products are of very inconsistent in quality and sizing, but the worst aspect is the customer service. I bought several dresses in a promotion, and had the unpleasant surprise of receiving a separate bill from customs for import duties that was an absolute hassle to pay. This was a complete surprise. As a lawyer I'm used to reading fine print, but this extra charge was absolutely not obvious on the website and made the dresses quite expensive despite the promotion. Customer service advised that they were not a US company, they were based in India, hence the customs charge. Again, very misleading as their website strongly implied they were based in Washington State and made no mention of being headquartered outside the US. Worst of all, several of the dresses had to be sent back -- one for a faulty zip, another fit strangely under the arms -- and of course the customs charge was non-refundable. Sigh.
On another occasion I ordered a custom dress, which was ok but not great. I gave a balanced, polite, three star review and submitted it, but it never appeared on the website. Only 5 star reviews (just two of them) were shown. I've since read that this was a common complaint about eShakti in that they only post glowingly positive reviews and the rest just disappear/are never posted to the site. Again, misleading, dishonest conduct from a shady company. Incidentally, subsequent to the attempted review, the dress ripped along the seam after a couple of wears. One of the dresses I kept from the larger order is still in good shape. Overall, mediocre quality, appalling customer service and misleading business practices.
Grace, we are sorry to hear about your poor experience. Customs duties are charged for countries where it is applicable, like Canada. But this is shown, and collected as part of the ordering process. It is never a separate bill to be paid by the customer at the time of delivery. So, if you had that happening, that is wrong, and should not be paid. Please inbox us your order ID for us to see what had happened. Our manufacturing facility is in India. We make reference to this in our shipping policy where we say it is shipped from outside location and due to that customs clearance delays do take place. We do not hide it ever. In fact, we take pride in the fact that we are a global organization and will seek to expand manufacturing facilities to many more locations where we can build value that we can become more meaningful to our customer. I have ordered from eShakti before and had mixed experiences, but i was looking at a specific dress for a wedding on their site and hemming and hawing about it. I received in my email a $25 gift card to come back, and with that in hand, I decided to move forward and order. The website says it takes 13-17 days for the order to arrive. Well, I'm at day 20, the order is in Ohio, I'm in PA, and the wedding is tomorrow. So, good thing i had a back up plan. It also resolves my intention to not use this company any further. The dresses take forever and their shipments never arrive "within 4 days" as promised by the website: "All our products are custom-crafted per order. Usually they take 6-9 days to make. Due to heavy volumes, it is currently taking 9-13 days to make. Once made and shipped, your order will reach you within 4 days thereafter." I'm disappointed with myself that I got sucked into this scam company again after the last time.

I want to love this company sooo bad. The designs are cute. But it is just sooo inconsistent. Sizes are not the same from garment to garment. Things arrive with a giant hole in them. I love some pieces, but I am so frustrated with my latest shipment. Previous dresses in the same size fit perfectly, but none of these fit. I need to find another place to buy my work clothes.

I have placed multiple orders with eShakti and have loved absolutely everything that I've gotten. The quality is amazing and the opportunity to send a personalized thank you to the people who make your clothing is a really beautiful touch. Every single time I wear any of my dresses I get a ton of compliments and end up bragging about the website because the price point is also incredibly affordable.
Not really sure why there are so many complaints here. I think it's important to remember this isn't Stitchfix, personalized items are much more complex than having a stylist select pieces for you and because of this it makes sense that the return policies are a little different than other online ordering companies.

I tried eShakti based on the positive reviews. I got screwed and I will think for myself from now on and pay better attention to the negative reviews and ask myself if there are any patterns of behavior that I can see from a company. I'm out $160 because I didn't think. I purchased several items, chose store credit (gift cards) in order to give it another try, and didn't like the results. I asked for my money back, but now I'm told that money from gift cards is non-transferrable. I'm stuck with $160 of worthless store credit. I don't want anymore.

I have recently begun purchasing from eshakti, and the negative reviews confuse me; perhaps they were expecting Amazon shipping speed, because with this, you do have a wait, which they will tell you when you check out. Honestly, my first purchase contained several items that just did not fit. I ended up returning most, with FREE return shipping, but keeping one that I probably should have returned because it was tight through the shoulders. I just really needed a dress at the time. Anyway, I took the first ordering experience to tweak my measurements. I even contacted them to ask a few questions about measurements. Second time around with the refined measurements, and the fit was almost perfect. I kept more items, but still returned something. Again, FREE returns. Third order, I added a notation that I was in between on some measurements (down to 1/2" increments at this point). I am to the point now that I can expect a pretty darn good fit, especially if I chose designs that are a good fit for my figure. I think if you are willing to be a little patient, and understand that they are literally making these clothes to your exact measurements, and also be willing to go through a little trial and error, then you can find a great resource, especially if you have anything less than standard about your size. I am 5'10", long waisted, thin waist, broader hips and shoulders. The things off the rack at department stores just do not fit me like these clothes do. There are endless options, and with the ability to change the neckline, sleeve or length, you really can make it totally different from what's shown and uniquely yours, so why not try! Seriously, you'll see some things that make you laugh... but look a little closer... If you changed the neckline, the length and even made it sleeveless... it could be a whole new look. Some things are better quality than others, but for the very reasonable prices and the ability of FREE returns, you just can't lose!
I will also note that on my first order, it took longer than anticipated to arrive. I received a notification with apologies that that they were running behind, and a $20 gift code for a future purchase.

Answer: I have been ordering the standard sizes and they are true to the measurements posted. No matter what you put in your height, so the length is always spot on.
Answer: Purchase a dress that is made with the knit fabric. It is flexible and much more loose feeling than the other fabrics. If you do decide to add inches to the measurement, I recommend only adding 1-2 inches AND only add those inches where you like it loser. For example, measure your arms true to size unless you like it a bit lose. Measure your waist true to size unless that is where you like it a bit lose. But honestly, I think you will find the knit dresses to be the best if you dislike tight fitting clothing! I also am not a fan and those are the dresses I wear most often! I have bought other styles, so I have other fabrics to compare it to.
