Ergode Books and Amitcj (seller name on Amazon) are total scammers! They have NO BOOKS TO SELL. Zero, Zip, Zilch, Nada! It's a guy and his wife that sit in their living room in Texas and list books for sale they don't ever have. Then when someone buys their books, they look on the web and find the cheapest similar one they can from a "real dealer" with books, and have that dealer send it to their customer. They pocket the difference, and do NO work, and NEVER have any book. That's why they email buyers to "make sure the book arrived safely". Because they didn't send it, and they don't even know!
I know this, because I work at one of the "real dealers" who has been getting their book orders to send to their buyers (with the request for no packing information or price information).
There are a TON of bookjackers like that on Amazon, including Chris's Bargains, Discount Books, Extremely Reliable, Red Rhino, Glass Frog...
Ebay is not quite as bad.
I ordered a textbook on a Wednesday morning and it was delivered the following Tuesday morning. Book was received in excellent condition. Customer service telephone number is answered by a person with a thick accent, which makes them difficult to understand, but overall, a very good experience. I definitely recommend.
I ordered a book from ergodebooks through amazon. When I received the book, it was damaged. The corners were bent in, the spine was covered in sale stickers that had been peeled off. Perhaps worst yet, I bought this book for $100 when the back of the book had $16.95 on it. After contacting customer support, they did not respond for two weeks and only responded after I contacted amazon. They then proceeded to call me at 11:30 pm and woke up myself and my family and stated that we needed to resolve the issue within 30 minutes or I would have no resolution. I stood my ground but they said they would only provide me with a return shipping label. As I bought this book for a university class, I specifically indicated that I could not return the book. Of course today I received an email with a return label, and a note saying that I should withdraw my claim through amazon because it might damage their company and I should give a family business a chance to succeed in this tough economic time. Maybe they should think about improving customer service and quality and then they may succeed. As a student, I cant afford to by ripped off out od $100 and just walk away to let this familys companys succeed. Totally inappropriate way to resolve customer issues. Its a tough economic time for everyone.
This is not a reputable bookseller, but a careless & deceitful company.
I ordered a large hardcover book from them, which cost $121. I contacted them three times and asked them to mail it in a box. I was willing to pay extra just to have it mailed in a box. They, however, sent to me in a think bubble envelope. The book arrived very damaged. But Ergodebooks could not care less -- and abebooks does not allow customer to review these scam artists.
Stay away from Ergodebooks. They are not serious at all.
It's too bad Amazon and Ebay allow this. The 'company' Ergode Books has tried to order books now 3x. From the start we found the reports. They've just gotten worse. AVOID as they will steal your book and refuse payment. They also sell ancient text books to college kids; awful people
On 4th September, 2017, I ordered a book online from Ergode Books (only 1 copy was available from Ergode Books) though Abe Books. The book was listed as "used: very good" and priced at £28.90 with the estimated delivery given as on or before 09 October, 2017.
A couple of weeks after I placed my order, I made a polite inquiry regarding the shipment to the vendor through Abebooks and was informed that according to them (Ergode Books) the item was lost in the mail and apologized for the "postal mess". Ergode Books then provided me with 2 options; to wait 3 to 5 weeks while they procure another book or to issue a refund. I kindly refused both and requested that shipping information be provided to me in the form of either a shipping invoice or a tracking number. Ergode Books did not comply.
In the meantime, I raised the issue with Abe Books while keeping Ergode Books informed in parallel. I made it clear that I did not wish to be issued a refund and made it clear that I had no problem waiting for Ergode Books to provide me with proof of shipping or a replacement book. It was clear... nothing was send to me to start with.
Ergode Books then arbitrarily imposed a refund upon me because they decided that it would take too long to find a replacement book as there was nothing in their "warehouse" or non-availability from any of their "suppliers" while Abe Books supported the decision and processed the refund on Ergode Books behalf.
During this entire process, Ergode Books continued to list the book on Abe Books though in a degraded condition from "used: very good" to "used: good" with an increase of price from £28.90 to £117.05! When insisting that I would accept the present listed book in a degraded condition while the refund was enforced upon me, I became fully aware of the scam the Ergode Books is running.
Further investigation convinced me to file an official complaint through the Texas BBB as Ergode Books is listed in that state but ultimately it was transferred to the BBB in Victoria, B. C. Canada. Sadly, because the refund had been issued, there was no other recourse though it was obvious that this was also favourable to Abe Books.
In noting the long list of subsidiaires under Fast Media and AmiVentures, including Ergode Books all of which are located at;
******* Canyon Crossing Dr.
Richmond, TX *******
While pairing my experience with many other complainants towards what is obviously drop-shopping, book-jacking, etc it is a social responsibility to inform others by exposing Ergode Books and it's subsidiaires for what they are;
A RIP-OFF and a SCAM!
None of these are legitimate, including Ergode Books; nor are they in any way acting in the better interest of their customers. They cannot even be placed within a reasonable level of trust regarding making the simple provision towards providing ordered items to clients in a timely and professional manner. They cannot even be considered a provider in any reasonable definition because they do not have an inventory!
In making any queries related to Ergode Books and others connected to Ami Ventures, the internet is a treasure trove in presenting negative reviews and complaints towards them and I highly suggest that you heed the warnings.
This bookseller is a scam. Upon contacting them for a tracking number a week after my order processed, they did not provide one, only told me the shipping method I chose. Upon contacting them again another week later, they told me that my order appears to have been "lost in postal transit." It's 2017; to claim a good number of your customer's orders got lost in postal transit is absurd.
When contacting them for a refund, they claim their websites are down and can only issue a refund through Paypal. I have yet to receive my refund.
Soon after I got an order from them to buy one of my books I got the same strange email from "Amee Shah". The name alone was a red flag and then the content of the email was even worse. "Please do not make any changes in the address format" - why would anybody do that anyway? The ship-to address doesn't have a name, instead a reference #. I suspect they may list books on their site for sale and then when an order comes in they simply order the book from a legit bookseller and then resell the book at a markup. I refunded their order. I don't need the hassle.
60 COMPLAINTS ISSUED AGAINST THIS COMPANY ON THE BBB! AVOID! I never received my book, and when contacting the company, they refused to provide tracking information after explicitly requesting it. The vague response received from "Joy K" was that my item was "lost in transit... sorry for the postal mess". The same response was given verbatim to other customers posting negative reviews. If you request Ergodebooks to expound and specify, they will prevaricate.
I filed a complaint with Abebooks, and although they agreed to issue a refund, they provided a firm defense against the notion that this company is a scam. If you purchase books from Ergodebooks, you will essentially be fighting on your own.
All the 1-star online reviews are true just research it for yourself. The couple of positive reviews are left by fraudulent profiles. THEY ARE BOOKJACKERS, meaning that their selling posts are not legitimate. Ergodebooks is a subset of FastMedia, a scamming company, as listed on the BBB. The owner is Rupesh Sanghavi and goes under various pseudonyms like "Joy K".
Almost, if not all, customers will not receive their purchases, or will be involved in a ploy to receive their order incomplete or defective months later.
They tried to order a book from me on Amazon before the high-time of Textbook season in August and September. I do list my textbooks on the lower side, so it is not surprising to have other book dealers buying from me. During pre-textbook season I always do a due-diligence google search on the buyer info. Edgode Books is a SERIAL offender according to Better Business Bureau. Ebay Buyer Forum has some unhappy book dealers discussing dealing with Amee S. In short, BUYING and SELLING BOOKS ONLINE SHOULD NOT BE A SCAM THING. Dont deal with these guys.
I ordered a six-volume set of books. After waiting for 30 days and no delivery, I contacted the seller who claimed the order must have been "lost in transit", despite not being able to produce a tracking number to show that it had ever been sent. They then promised to "re-send" the item. When it arrived (another month later) it was ONE book out of the six volume set. So I waited 3 months total, only to get a fraction of what I ordered. Now I have to figure out how to get a refund from them, after the 30day refund window has passed... TERRIBLE
Company attempted to buy from me on amazon. Warning bells were ringing as shipping address begins with a reference number instead of a name. I also received a note informing me "I MUST ship to this address with a 'reference number'.'" I googled the address -- Shipping Address:
Ref ID# 1250 VALLEY BROOK AVE STE 102. LYNDHURST, NJ *******-3518 and found a shipping company. So I checked out the phone number provided which sent me to this page. There was also a google listing- an "ebay rant page"-regarding this address where a seller complained about not being paid. The Better Business Bureau
Has 59 complaints against the company. They generally sell items and ship crap that has nothing to do with the item purchased-won't refund money etc. etc. The white pages lists 4 different names for this individual-and it appears as though a man associated with her has 5 different names. Amee Rupesh Sanghavi has addresses between CA, TX -- nowhere near NJ shipping address. A review on the website "Complaints Board" states "This bookseller gives fake tracking numbers. I ordered a book 10 days ago and the shipping information they provided was from Mumbia, India.". I could go on and on. Clearly I've spent way too much time on this already.
Please report this person. I've been lucky--many others haven't.
Fraud
I never get the book I ordered online. I never got a tracking number and never refunded me the money 80.
This owner has the same address as known scam artist FastMedia, Please Google FastMedia Scam and Erogode book scam. After you see both companies have the same Address. Please go tho Better Business Burea. FastMedia(Richmond Texas) has a B. B. B rating of "F" You will not get your books or a tracking number. He will say must of been lost in mail. He will say let me send another copy out. Again no books no tracking number. By now its been 2 months and now you understand you are a block in this man's pyrimid scheme. He will refund you 2 months later with another victims money. He's a small time Bernie Madoff. YOU WILL REGRET ORDERING FROM ERODE BOOKS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Book was better than described and very fast post even all the way to New Zealand.
I HAVE BEEN BUYING BOOKS ON ABE FOR YEARS AND THESE PEOPLE WHATEVER
THEY CALL THEMSELVES ERGODE BOOKS?`BOOKS FOR LESS? ARE A COMPANY I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH AGAIN. I AM OUT $18 I PAID FOR A SIGNED EDITION AND WHAT I RECEIVED IS A BOOK CLUB COPY THAT I CAN FIND ON THE NET FOR $1.50. I FEEL THIS MIGHT QUALIFY AS A BAIT AND SWITCH SALE.
DO NOT buy from them. They misrepresent quality of used books, selling as "good" quality books falling apart. Then they don't want to refund your money
I ordered from this company and as soon as I ordered the screwed it up. The conformation email was not delivered. I called in a week later an nobody would talk to me without the order number that ONLY comes with the conformation email I had to call back again to ask for a manager just to get something going. After waiting a full 3 weeks calling repeatedly they finally admitted to not just to loosing my order but also not having a stock of the book like the normally do so they could replace it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Buy from a reputable company.
I ordered a 6 volume set of books from this dealer almost three months ago and received a single unrelated volume. I contacted the company, scanned the cover and isbn and returned the book in its original packing. The post office confirmed the book was received back a month and a half ago. In spite of several attempts, including contacting ABE through whom I ordered the original item, I keep getting the same BS about verifying the returned item and have not been reimbursed my money. It also operates under the name ExtremelyReliable and is really a book jacker that should be avoided (http://www.zubalbooks.com/article-bookjacking.jsp).
Reading is my habit but ergodebooks.com is online books store and it help me lot to prevent my reading habit also they online offer me great quantity quality books
