I was looking for on specific children's book on google for my kids, luckily i found this awesome website. Not only they have competitive prices but also they offer great discount plus free shipping. Damm, Happy with the service.
Purchased the book - Where The Wild Things Are written by Maurice Sendak. Got the book in Good condition. After reading the book, My kid loved it. Good Service.
Ergodbooks carries a ton of books including used book & new book inventory.
I bought a halloween kids book from this store last month end. They shipped it under 12 hours and it got delivered in one weeks. It was shipped from America, while I live in Northern Europe. They said the shipping might take 15 to 20 days - I am amazed about the speed under the conditions COVID pandemic puts them. The book arrived in good condition, I am very happy to be a customer of Ergodebooks. No disappointments!
I would give a less than zero stars review if I could. I placed an order for a book on August 9,2020 and still haven't receives the book. I have contacted their customer service several time and was promised that I would receive my order. Then they said they contacted their shipper who stated that all packages are billing delayed because of COVID. They then said that they would have their "concern team" contact me in 24-48 hours. That was 15 days ago.
Absolutely a joke! My order never arrived, they emailed me a tracking number but it was invalid/untrackable. I finally had to create a dispute with Paypal. Hopefully, I can have the refund soon. By the way, I bought the same book from a different vendor after waiting for this one for 3 weeks and it arrived just in a few days.
Delivery took forever - even though I had received 6 emails advising I would receive the book in the next 5 days.
On receipt - the book was used/second hand, though it was advertised NEW. Pages were folded, the cover was crushed - and there were dirty marks inside.
Also, the price I paid was much more that the price that is printed on the back cover of the book!
I am still waiting for a refund - they are yet to supply a return address! I believe their emails are processed by a robot and contain the same standard text.
Shocking. Can't even label it as ‘service'.
I would avoid this seller if possible. They sell across various platforms, including Amazon, Abebooks, and Biblio. I purchased an out-of print book that was described as NEW from them via Abebooks at a good price. It turns out they sourced the book from another Amazon seller and had it drop shipped to me. All this would have been fine except the book was in Good condition at best - beat up dust jacket, water damage, mold on page edges, etc. It took me about 6 back and forth emails (including sending photos) before they would agree to take the book back (i. E. have it sent back to Amazon to the original seller) and another few weeks after return confirmation from UPS before they would issue me a refund. Abebooks was of no help since I paid with Paypal and since the issue is "resolved" according to Abebooks, this is not considered a negative transaction. I consider myself lucky as I have read far worse outcomes from other buyers with this merchant.
I have doubts if they actually have inventory, especially with older or out-of-print books. They probably make their profit from the spread between what they can buy a book at and what they sell to you, except that they look for the book after you order it - and it's hit or hit on what you get.
This is a company allegedly based out of a house or self-storage facility out of Richmond, TX according to Google and Google Maps. It's a mom-and-pop type operation with limited customer service that pretends they employ a lot of people.
If you get the book that you want in the condition described, consider yourself lucky. Otherwise, at the first sign of trouble, open a dispute with the platform you purchased from (hopefully not Ergodebook.com) and dispute the charges with your credit card company. Too many reviews from various sites have people that just given up after weeks and months of no action from this vendor.
Ordered a four volume set of cataloging books for my job for $75. Took over a month to travel two states over. They sent the last volume only in poor condition, then tried to tell me different stories: a) you never ordered all of them; or b) sent you the whole set, if one is missing its because you lost it; c) you only ordered 3 of the four; and d) that the other volumes would come whenever they found them. Most of the communication was through email as they NEVER answer the phone. I asked for a refund and they promised to send a return address label. Neither one of those happened. So now, 4 months after the initial order, they have been sent a 48-hour notice to send an address label to get the book back or they forfeit it, and the money is being automatically refunded. (I ordered via Biblio.com, that's why the refund can take place. Biblio has been awesome at trying to make things happen from their side and keeping up communication.)
Because I ordered during the pandemic, I allowed months for my order to arrive. After 2 1/2 months I stated that I wanted to cancel the order and wanted a refund. Ergodebooks responded that they had sent me a replacement order. I restated my desire for a refund. I was told to refuse the replacement order and return it for a refund. I did so but now Ergodebooks is demanding a tracking number, which I do not have as I place the package directly into the returns stream at Canada Post where I work. Incidentally, when I requested a tracking number for my original order, my request was ignored.
0! Stars. Never use this company. My book was extremely late and looks like it was left in the rain and then the sun to dry. I have ordered another from someone else since it was a gift and will read this and then recycle it. Never use this company. I wish I had read all of these reviews before. It looks like they treat all of there customers as bad as their books. Charlatans.
I ordered "2nd Chance" by James Patterson (as part of a series I was trying to collect). This seller sent me completely wrong book. Not same author, not even same genre. When I contacted him, he said he wanted pictures of incorrect item. I sent them to him. Then he said he could offer a "partial refund" (and apparently he doesn't even have the book I ordered). The "partial refund" would be 20%... off an item I didn't even order. I will not do business with this seller again.
Looks like Amazon got smart and took this guy down. He is a dropshipper. You buy a product from him that he does NOT stock, he then buys it from Amazon and has that third party seller ship it to you, and he collects the profit. A lot of bad reviews for this company. Probably best to purchase elsewhere.
Never order ANYTHING from these people.
I ordered a limited edition LP on Amazon from Ergodebooks. When they said they shipped, I asked for a tracking number. They send a scripted email WITHOUT the information I sought. Called their number, NO one picks up!
Then they pester me to remove the one-star that I assigned on Amazon. EVERY time I ask for my order, they said once they ship they bear no responsibility - BUT they DO NOT provide a tracking number. HOW do I know that they indeed shipped it?
After several emails, Amazon issued a refund but I lost the window to buy the LP for a reasonable price. That price has now gone up significantly!
Like the other reviews the book was not delivered and they refused to provide a tracking number. When I asked for a replacement they ignored my request for a tracking number, so I just requested a refund. They take so long to reply to emails and they never answer the phone.
Honestly, it is a very shady business, please order from any other company.
ErgodeBooks.com/Abebooks.com are thieves. This guy named Green bought a product from me on Amazon, then said he wanted a refund because he never received it. He did receive it and then put it up for sale on his ERGODE Bookstore web site. He's extremely rude and a liar. Don't sell or buy anything from him. He needs to be stopped.
This post is in regards to the February 13,2020 post. On February 14 I called Ergodebooks to request a refund. The clerk (Male) said he would process it. Then I emailed Abebooks - the original site the book was ordered from, and in my request for a refund I explained the situation. I also told them I believe my request for a refund was lost in translation. Then I researched the BBB responsible for Ergodebooks *******500, 1333 W Loop S #1200 Houston, Tx *******. To file a complaint. On February 14, Abebooks contacted Ergodebooks about my request for a refund. On Feb. 22 my refund was processed and on February 25, the money was posted to my banking account. I hope the best for the rest of you.
Wish I had read up on these scammers before buying a book from them! I paid for a new hard-to-get book but received a trashed one. They say they pride themselves on customer service and want to make things right but if you try to resolve anything with them they give you the royal runaround. You send them all the info they request, thinking that they are going to do the right thing, but all they do is lead you on and on, passing you from person to person, asking for "more time" and "understanding" from you since they are a "new company just getting on their feet". It's bull$#*!. They never follow through on anything they promise -- and then they LAUGH at you, yes LAUGH, when you push them for resolution. This happened to my husband who was going to bat for me after I tired of trying to resolve things civilly with them. They thought they put him on hold but apparently didn't hit the right button because he could hear them laughing and making fun of him. They will also talk over you and if you dare ask them questions --like who owns the company -- they will mumble and try to keep you from gathering any information on them. One customer service rep even HUNG UP on my husband as he made it clear that, after weeks of being put off, we were tired of waiting for a resolution and wanted some action NOW. In what universe is a hang-up a resolution? My husband immediately called back. Of course he was unable to talk to the same person. That's part of their plan; you always have to start at the very beginning with every rep you speak with. You'd THINK a professional company would have a case file (especially when you have sent them many emails and pictures that they requested) that different reps could access in order help you. But no. Either they never made a file or they are willfully ignoring it in order to make it more of a hassle for you to have to repeat everything time and time again in hopes that you will give up and go away. And you can NEVER get through to a manager or supervisor -- they are always "away from their desk" or "unavailable right now". This is a horrible, horrible company that people should avoid like the plague. Shame on them. DON'T BUY! They deserve to go out of business.
This company is a fraud. They lie, cheat and have now stolen from me.
I purchased two books for a total of $220.00 on Biblio.com through the seller ergode books in two separate orders. The books I received were not what I ordered based on title and ISBN. When i called i was rudely told to email them pictures as proof, which I did. Days later I received a response asking for me to provide proof which i did again and then they asked a third time. Now i was suspicious this was a scam so i called the number attached to the email as it said to "call if I needed any further assistance" when i called again a rude person with a very thick accent told me i can only email them. I asked to speak with a manager and was told "No They not in" i then asked when they would be in and the reply I was given was "No" then "maybe tomorrow" so i called back the next day and surprise! No manager in. Finally after numerous emails and providing picture proof again I was emailed a return shipping label for wait for it... Amazon. I called and attempted to explain this was not an amazon purchase but was ridiculed and told to send it anyway. So i mailed the first book and it promptly was lost in transit according to ups. Furthermore I was not allowed to open an investigation with ups as only amazon could and i should call amazon! When I emailed this development to ergode i was told to open a claim with ups and send them claim number which i had already told them i cannot do. So i emailed them two more times and the last i heard was they are waiting for the package and will not refund my purchase until they receive it. Ups was kind enough to inform me losing these amazon return packages is "very common". This was a scam by ergode books to prevent ever having to refund my money for shipping a different item than what I purchased.
I ordered two books as Christmas gifts in early December. I received my payment confirmation and after about a week, I called the company, as I never received a shipping confirmation (both books were in stock when I ordered). The first rep I spoke with told me that my package had been lost in the mail and they would be issuing me a refund. I asked the rep when they were planning on notifying me about that (if I hadn't already called in) and they provided a vague answer. It was also suspect how the company knew they had already been "lost in the mail". I asked if they could send me replacement books and they told me no, they weren't in stock. After I hung up, I checked online and their website showed they had the books in stock. I immediately called back and got a different rep. This rep told me the books were actually not lost in the mail and had been sent almost a week before. I confirmed this multiple times and he said the other rep must have been mistaken. I asked this second rep for a mailing tracking number and he said they didn't have it yet (even though the package had shipped a week before).
I kept following up via email for a tracking number and they kept telling me the package shipped the day after I ordered it but they hadn't yet generated a tracking number yet (it had been almost two weeks now). I held out hope that the books (which were children's Christmas gifts) would somehow arrive on time. They never arrived and on Christmas morning I received an email from the Company saying the books had in fact been "lost in postal transit".
I would normally chalk this up to a one-off postal mix up if it wasn't for so many other 1-star reviews from other customers who had the exact same fact pattern (refusal to provide a tracking number and then the package getting "lost"). This was compounded by terrible customer service every time I tried to follow-up.
Awful. Three months late on delivery. Refusing to give me a refund after violating their own policy. Awful customer service. Clearly exists to scam people and nothing more.
I'm a repeat customer. Each time I've ordered, they have delivered the books to me on time or earlier than the ETA and I'm not even from the US. The books I received were as described and packaged with care. Would recommend them and purchase again. Thanks Ergodebooks.
