Ergode Books

Recently, I ordered a classical history book from Ergode Books via ABEBooks. From the description, it was in very good condition and the price was reasonable. However, when they shipped the book, they sent it to a person over 50 miles away using an incorrect address. ABEBooks has been one of my 'go to' used book dealers for year, even before Amazon bought them. My address within the ABEBooks system is correct. I have been in the same home for 27 years, yet Ergode used some other address, perhaps from their own files - I don't know. Following the U.S. Postal Service's tracking system I watched as it went the wrong way. So, anyone doing business with them, I suggest you make a follow up call to them or message them on their FB page.

I got this book for an affordable price with great packaging and I must say they have priced the item at an aggressively lower price compared to other websites!

The book is amazing as I ordered it a week prior to my cousin's birthday. Ergodebooks made sure that it arrives on time and their customer support team helped me with a discount coupon code which provided me extra 15% discount. A HAPPY CUSTOMER :)

Complete SCAM and FRAUD. They're unfortunately using Abebooks as an unwitting accomplice in their criminal activity. I ordered a book from them which they advertised as "new". After the order was placed (and they had stolen my money) they emailed me that the book was in fact "used". Offered me a choice of accepting the book at a reduced price, or cancelling the order for a full refund. I IMMEDIATELY responded with the order to CANCEL. They responded that they would do so, and to allow 24-48 hours for the refund to be processed. It has now been THIRTEEN DAYS and their only action has been to evade the refund by sending multiple emails that they cannot cancel the order until they've been notified that cancellation is indeed my wish. I have responded to EACH one of their emails with a repeated mandate that the order is to be cancelled and a full refund issued. They continue to evade. And by the way, don't waste your time trying to call the phone number they provide. Scammers never answer the phone.

Horrible experience with this fraudulent company! Never received my book. Told me they didn't have a tracking number, then told me the book was lost in the mail. They couldn't process my refund due to "technical difficulties." Then I never heard from them again despite continued emails and calls (no one ever answers their phone). Unbelievable!

ErgodeBooks is a scam. They ordered a book from me from Amazon and claimed it arrived damaged but it was a brand new book. I offered to give them a refund if they returned the book but they never did and instead tried to file a claim unsuccessfully against me on Amazon. They tried to steal money from me. You've been warned, do not interact with this thief of a company, very shady.

One of 2 things will happen - you will never get any package, or you will get a completely different book - very poor condition - and weeks after it should have been delivered. These people work by that old adage "there's enough people that I can screw over everyone one time."

THIS COMPANY IS CRAP! I ORDERED A BOOK FOR MY SON FROM THE SITE, WAS CHARGED FOR IT, ONLY TO WAKE UP TO EMAILS CANCELLING MY ORDER FOR NO REASON AND REFUNDING ME. THE BOOK IS STILL ON THE WEBSITE, NOW DOUBLED IN PRICE! THE COMPANY DOESN'T RESPOND TO CALLS, OR EMAILS!

I ordered a scarce JF book from them. They immediately charged my credit card. Then, the book never arrived. I inquired and they blamed me and said someone must have picked it up, like a neighbor. That is not likely. When I asked for tracking information, so that I could trace the shipment, they did not provide it. When I inquired again, they blamed the post office. So I asked for the tracking information again... still waiting. Do not trust your money or your book orders to them.

They advertised they had 5 copies of a book with photo. I bought the 5 copies. They cancelled 4 of my purchases. Took my money, then sent a different book.
This is a fraud operation. The "Customer Service" phone number was answered by someone who asked "What company are you calling?".

I purchased a used book from Ergodebooks in July 2021 as a gift. I paid $81.98. The recipient opened the book and discovered an invoice for $18. I contacted Ergodebooks and provided them with a copy of the $18 invoice. They basically said too bad you agreed to pay $81.98. I have since found the book on multiple websites for $8 or $9 + shipping. DO NOT USE THIS VENDOR - DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

I was looking for a particular book. Found it on Ergodebooks.com. Used, very cheap. Free shipping as well. They delivered straight away, provided tracking number. & This book is Brand new. Excellent experience & I shall be buying from them again.

They don't send things, lie to you about fictitious tracking numbers and cut off contact when you ask for you money back. One book I ordered never arrived and I don't think it was ever sent. They should not be in business.

I tried cancelling but they said they shipped - apparently on Christmas Day. Still don't have the item after a month. Every attempt to contact them is met with a form letter. No progress, no rma, no refund, no tracking, no communication. I am out of my money and have no product. If it does show up I will refuse delivery.

Even Amazon can't get a reply from them. I hope they remove them. I also suspect a number of their reviews are fake to prop them up.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.

You order a book (I did so through ABE -- thought they screened sellers); Ergode sends you the wrong book; they say to wait until their "shipping department" issues an "RMA" so you can return wrong book and only then will you get a refund. Folks, you never get that return info, and P.S. you never get your money back either.

Any positive review must be written by the scammers.

Awful Seller, Rip Off Fraud I bought in good faith through Biblio from this seller I bought what was offered as an Ian Fleming First Edition Library (FEL) copy of "You Only Live Twice" with a slipcase from this company and was sent a dirty, filthy copy of the book, completely different edition by New American Library with no dust cover by someone in Hesperia California with a Amazon Marketplace receipt inside. Completely different order ID number and SKU number inside the package with my name on it. Order #**************249
FRAUD I'll avoid this company and Biblio for offering their book wares.

Ergodebooks profits by relisting books listed by other sellers, and selling via dropshipping, but erasing or whitewashing information on books' condition, so they get the sale by fraudulently advertising. They give the original buyer a runaround when one tries to return for a refund, hoping buyers and sellers will get tired of fighting with them to get their book/money back. They have no inventory; their "official" address is an unrelated shipping store. Avoid them.

Seems to be Indian owners (from India) of ergode books and with other websites at the same address in Texas that's scamming customers. Also, Still running scams on Amazon. Noticed they are also using a Florida address 6738 Boston Hwy, Monticello, FL ******* and a name John Everett.

My experience with this vendor was more like dealing with a scam artist than a bookstore. Through Amazon, I placed an order for an academic text (Technoromanticism: Digital Narrative, Holism, and the Romance of the Real) valued at about $32, including shipping and handling. I did so because I have been using Amazon to cut down on person-to-person contact related to my research during the Covid pandemic.

Instead, they sent me a worthless junk bin book (Decathlon Challenge: Bruce Jenner's Story) that has nothing to do with my order. Their version of correcting the problem was to offer me a 20% refund (complete with crocodile tears regarding how the refund would cut directly into their profits), to let me know that they would try and find me the book that I ordered and would possibly (read: possibly not) send it to me within 3-5 weeks, if they could find it, or to ask me to go through the effort returning the product they sent to me in error (shunting both the time and cost required to correct the issue into my lap, despite the fact that the problem was entirely caused by failures on their end), after which they would then provide me with a refund (supposedly).

Do yourself a favour, if you see these guys selling something via Amazon or the like, avoid this seller like the Black Plague. You will just end up having to contact Amazon to deal with this seller's shoddy business practices.
