The overall reputation of the company is significantly marred by customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to perceived deceptive practices regarding refunds and subscription management. Many users express frustration over the lack of suitable matches and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of wasted time and money. Customers frequently highlight inadequate customer service, with limited access to support and automated responses exacerbating their concerns. While a few users mention positive experiences, the overwhelming sentiment suggests a need for improved transparency, better quality control of profiles, and a more responsive customer service approach.

I fell for the commercials claiming "eHarmony is great!" "No questions to fill out!" "cheap!". Well, if you've seen those, don't make the same mistake I did! Before you can even join, you have to fill out 40 questions! Then you are directed to choose a username, etc., and the payment page. It seemed simple, choosing a 3-, 6-, or 12-month payment plan. I joined the 3-month program figuring if it didn't work out, I wouldn't have to pay all of it.
WRONG.
Within five days I knew the site wasn't for me. The "matches" I received were outside of the age bracket I selected (some as many as 10 years either way), lived on the other side of the country or even outside of it, and eHarmony paid no attention to my strict "No smokers" option. Using their "search" was equally disappointing. Entering a search for "single men, 32-38, in Rhode Island or Massachusetts" yielded exactly ZERO results. Disappointed and angry, I looked up the policy for returns and found you had to ask for a refund within three days.
I contacted customer service anyway, figuring that since I had only been a member for a week, I could at least get two of my months refunded. I was told that no, if you are on a payment plan, you must pay all three months before you can disable your profile! The representative I communicated with offered to cancel my subscription, but ONLY if I paid the remaining balance first, for two months IN THE FUTURE that I wasn't planning on using! Nowhere did they mention that when signing up, or else I never would have joined. According to the representative, that clause is buried somewhere in the "Terms of Service". Yes, I suppose it's my fault for not reading them closely enough, but there should be some sort of warning before you pay. Now I'm still paying for a service I don't even use, a total of about $75, which is a lot for someone with a low income. If I had known any of this, I'd never have signed up.
TL; DR: Matches are bad, site is expensive, refunds are extremely difficult if not impossible to get. Save your money!
I've used a number of dating sites and none have been successful. But the only "Absolutely, never, ever, EVER again" site is eHarmony. The biggest problem is that eHarmony thinks it knows better than you. Whereas every other site will let you browse it's members, eHarmony will have you wait patiently while it delivers your ideal matches for you. "Trust the process" they say. (Wait. You're asking me to trust you to lose my business. "Be patient!" says about half their promotional materials. Gee, I wonder why?)
Even the inability to search for myself would have been tolerable, if the matches had been any good. But yet, in the 3 months I used eHarmony I received six matches within 4 hours of me. Let me put more emphasis on that.
IN 3 MONTHS OF USING EHARMONY, I GOT 6 MATCHES WITHIN 4 HOURS OF ME.
And before you say it, yes I adjusted their "within X miles" parameter. It just stopped giving me matches. No, I didn't live in the middle of nowhere. I lived in a college town with two other big-universities within 90 minutes of me.
"Well, the matches you received were really good right?" Ha! Absolutely not. There was no option to filter out out matches that lacked a photo and no option to filter by body type. Excuse me if that makes me shallow, but I want to be attracted to my partner. It also had no option to filter out matches that had been inactive for months.
And even the ones that had a photo, were decent-looking, had been active recently weren't beacons of compatibility in a sea of disharmonious relationships. Sure, there were that would have been interesting matches if distance hadn't been prohibitive (did I mention almost all my matches lived at least 4 hours away?). But there were an awful lot were I read there profile and thought "she's just not for me."
Frankly even when the system delivered active, attractive, photo-having members to me it was no better than Match or any other dating site. Except that Match never matched me with women 4 hours away.
It really looks like a solid dating site so no idea why some people don't like it?! There are some other great alternatives to eHarmony (Mingle2day, Chemistry, just to name two of them) if you weren't lucky on it. But for now it looks good to me.
Turned my eyes on eharmony this month and cant deny its a good one. It takes FOREVER to join as they have loads of questions. I would say if you compare it to another company like wejustfit.com then eharmony takes ten times longer to join. But the hope is that the questions will help me find someone who is right for me so lets see. Def a lot of people showing up in searches and had a few chats which is a good sign but undecided for now if its my new number 1.
I tried to cancel a two year subscription deal within 10 days but they will not return any part of the money although they will gladly stop the account and keep all your money.
This site is ridiculous. I get matches and have even communicate with a couple but this is nothing but a money making scheme where they are MUCH more concerned with revenue than finding matches for people.
This is just my opinion and experience and please take my advice make the initial trial as short as possible, use AMEX and instruct them not to accept any addional charges from e-harmony to insure they do not just keep billing you
BTW I tried to get AMEX to intervene but they said the charge was legit and the rep told me she had personally work several complaints about e-harmony charging without authorization
To further show what they are all about and HW they rip you off, they have this thing called "IVD Verified" which will cost an additional $5.95 a month. Here is the thing. See what you have to do t cancel the monthly bill for THAT:

Yes deliver a mail notice or a telegraph. Now correct me if I am wrong but this is an online dating service that takes money online but makes you use snail mail or telegraph to cancel this.
Please take my advice and avoid these guys. They are thieves
Despite filling out a very detailed list, asking for non- drinkers within 30 miles of my home, I'm getting referrals for nothing but drinkers who live as far as two states away. Even after I take the time to delete them as options, eharmony sends them all over again as new matches day after day. Do NOT waste your money.
Not only was I matched to men that were absolutely nothing like what I had asked for, but they were so unbelievably ugly. I tried to cancel my membership after literally one day because I knew I would never use this site again, but did they let me? Hell no. What a huge waste of a lot of money!
I was starting to think the whole online dating process was almost hopeless. And incredibly high percentage of the women I met did not look very much like their photos and you will find a few lunatics too. Plus it is frustrating that on most sites you are getting almost nowhere. There are only a few dating sites which are better than average (eHarmony and Mingle2day were the two best dating sites I have used) but if you get easily fustrated and impatient don't uns ANY dating site. It takes patience.
I REALL HOPE THAT SOMEONE SUES EHARMONY IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SO THAT WE ALL CAN GET OUR MONEY BACK. I JUST WENT TO THE "PLUS ONE" ON MY ACCOUNT AND IT WAS LITERALLY THE SAME GUY WITH A DIFFERENT NAME AND LOCATION. PUC AFTER PUC IT WAS THE SAME GUY WITH A DIFFERENT NAME AND LOCATION. THIS SCAMMING OLD BASTARD HAS MADE MILLIONS LYING TO PEOPLE WHO WANT TO MEET SOMEONE. I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF SOME OF THESE PEOPLE DON'T WIRK FOR EHARMONY OR THEY ARE STEALING PICTURES OFF THE INTERNET AND CREATING FAKE PROFILES. THIS IS WHY NO ONE EVER RESPONDS TO YOUR PROFILE BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE DON'T EXHIST! THIS IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST SCAMS IN HISTORY. LET'S SUE HIS $#*!!
You can not assess a dating website in 3days. You can only get a refund ifor you cancel in 3 days of use. They make you communicate through email and basically after 17 days of use and not having good service, I wanted to cancel my subscription. I was charged $210 for a whole year but I only used site for 17 days! NEVER SIGN UP FOR EHARMONY.
All I can say is do not waste your time you have better luck and get just the same quality or lack of as the case may be on free dating sites but at least on the free dating sites you will get more activity this dating site has none.
95% of the matches you will receive have been inactive for weeks, months, even years. EHarmony will match you with them, however, in the hope that you'll respond, and then will turn around and market your interest in these former members to entice them to come back and spend their money again. Truly deceptive and awful.
EHarmony is obviously one of the biggest dating sites so I decided to give it a try. I joined eHarmony three months ago and I was positively surprised. I got in contact with many nice women and arranged a few dates. I don't understand any of the negative reviews. It is a quality dating site. Only reason I left it was because I tried out a few other dating sites liked Mingle2day which I personally liked a little more. I'd rate eHarmony 4 out of 5.
I am 71 years old and met my wife when I was 65. It took almost two years to find each other but worth the effort. We're a perfect match and we've never been happier. While I would agree that some of my matches left me wondering what criteria were used; all of these sites rely on user honesty. I'm sure that lack of self esteem and loneliness can contribute to misrepresentation. Regardless of site, be patient; the person who is looking for you may be tomorrow's match. Suggestion: If possible, expand your geographic range. What might seem impossible in theory may become very possible for the right person; I'm from Maryland and my wife was from Ohio. Update: sixth anniversary; never been happier
I joined with hope, I have been contacted by scammers and no one else. I signed up for a year and am not able to cancel my subscription - the button is mysteriously missing on my account page. I just joined Plenty of Fish this week and have met more men in that time than for the whole time on eharmony. The number of men I met on eharmony was none so this was not a hard total to beat!
Having already given a review of eHarmony I feel compelled to further comment as an active member on the site. I have taken the trouble to experiment with the ways it operates and the sheer dishonesty of its claims. Narcissism and greed go hand in hand and eHarmony is a prime example, non existent profiles, blatant ignorance and disregard for members requirements, condescending and disrespectful feedback from brainwashed operators, polite but sadly mislead, I could cancel my contract but I will see it through simply to study the extent of this company's brutal exploitation of people's vulnerability against the site's complete lack of conscience... Christianity indeed!
I find it insulting that eHarmony lists it's "Black Dating", "Asian Dating", "Christian Dating", "Jewish Dating", "Senior Dating", "Hispanic Dating" sections... but for gays, we're herded away to some new, separate, segregated section called "Compatible Partners"? I already have a business partner. I'm looking for a HUSBAND.
Reminds me of that South Park episode on Marriage Equality where "us gays" were told we couldn't get married, but we could get a special, legal title to call each other "Butt Buddies". Not surprised, since this company is run by conservative christians. They thought by FINALLY adding a separate, segregated site for gay people it would smooth over the fact that they are bigot owned and operated. IT DID NOT WORK. Their "Pitiful Partners" gay site was AWFUL and I immediately cancelled. They now have the lowest possible grade of all the online dating websites, and their customers are leaving by the thousands.
Bigots. Go figure.
Answer: EHarmony is over rated and it's a lot of mumbo jumbo... If you're going to pay for a site match.com is set up much better and for a free site plenty of fish is really a nice site... BillyPrewitt.com
Answer: No. They won't refund you.
Answer: On your profile where you get asked questions like whats your fav movie and so on. Replace any answers you have already left with offensive language which in turn will violate their terms and conditions and they will have no option than to close your account. As for getting a refund good luck.
Answer: I called my credit card company because I cancelled within the three day grace period. Eharmony tried to say I had waited too long and therefore would be no refund. My credit card company disputed the charges, my account was credited and I was just notified that the dispute has been approved. No more eharmony charges. Hoe things work out for you.
Answer: You can't opt out. You are locked for the whole duration of your subscription even if u dont use it anymore they will charge ur visa regardless untill ur contract expires. I have to spend 11 more months to a site I cant use coz Im a transgender woman and no man in there wants me.
Answer: Well I have but I No longer on those sites anymore because they are scammers of course and I was on match truly.com and I deactivate my account off there as well but however sometimes I register on that website match truly.com even though I'm No longer a member on that website anymore because I still see the same lady Anna I'd Number is 60780729 and she's still online right now just like any other ladies you see on that site so I go on there just to waste their time and use abusive behavior against them to teach them a lesson and I don't pay money for that so that's why if you Noticed just pay close attention to the lady Anna on match truly.com and you will see her on wishdates.com and many other dating sites so I'm just tracking these websites down and you can see the ladies are Not real and can you tell me what Normal person would stay online 24 hours a day and seven days a week that's Not a Normal person that's a Networker and they like to make all kinds of excuses for themselves so don't listen to Nonsense about what they say because if you keep talking to these fake ladies they will Robb you out of your money so pretty much wasting your time because you are Not getting anywhere but a dead end and believe me I know what I'm talking about because I was on that website for two years and believe me they are phony and so is the customer support they are fake and they think they are very intelligent human beings and they think they can manipulate people so just watch yourself and be careful because I'm still seeing the same ladies on that website today from two years ago they are Not real and they are Not looking for anyone
