My teacher is there at the appointed times. What more can I ask for? Everything fits in my schedule, and I finally have time to learn this language. It's been three months and progress is good.

I was really struggling with passing HSK 4. I couldn't figure out what I wasn't understanding--it was getting to be too much to study on my own. I had been able to pass the other levels with school/ university classes, but they weren't cutting it anymore. Joyce, my tutor, has really made all the difference in the world. I took my level in July and passed with flying colors. Couldn't do it without her!

I've been studying for the HSK for a year, by myself, and I was ready to rip my hair out. Thank goodness I found Joyce here at echinese. She has totally made it 1. FUN for me to learn. 2. Do-able, she really breaks up the learning points so I can understand them and 3. Made me feel like I'm at home with her, I no longer view Chinese as a super foreign language, it feels more familiar now having known her. Highly recommend these lessons, the one to one aspect really makes it.

Chinese is no joke, but my teacher was fun! I actually struggled to learn for so long because I couldn't find a teacher that was an actual human being. My teacher with eChineseLearning was different. She was outgoing, kind, understanding, patient and just a joy to work with. I've been learning three months, and and I plan to keep it up for much longer. Thanks!

I was really skeptical, because I just couldn't imagine anyone better than my University professor at Mandarin. I WAS SO WRONG. This is 10 times better than college courses. The one-to-one style has helped me SO MUCH. My tones are better, my comprehension is WAY up and I am just plain MORE CONFIDENT when I speak. Highly recommend Helena and the whole team. I feel very taken care of and like every penny was worth the investment.

I'm a college student and have always wanted to study abroad. First I thought I'd go to Europe like most students going abroad do. But after I learned more about Asia I decided that there was so much potential there I shouldn't miss out. China seemed like the place to be and was also more affordable than Japan. I decided to go study engineering for a semester in Shanghai and maybe pick up Chinese. Well, I had never thought of taking a course in school so how would I begin? Lol

I heard about online lessons from a friend teaching English online to Chinese kids. I searched the web and found echineselearning comes up a lot. After a free trial I signed up for their Travel program since I was able to tell them my needs and they could personalize lessons around them. I really liked the flexibility of the teachers and the lessons that we learned together. After a few months I was able to get a foundation for what I needed.

When I did get to Shanghai I was able to immediately start using at my Chinese immediately- at the airport! I decided to continue my lessons even when I was in China, since it was so convenient and affordable.

I'm still taking lessons and we've moved beyond basic conversation and travel language and into discussing things like home life and cultural difference. It's so much fun and has really motivated me to get out there and engage with Chinese people. When I get back to the US I'll definitely continue. Chinatown, here I come!

I have taken classes with eChineseLearning for 2 weeks and had a good experience so far. I think its a much cheaper option than paying for a Chinese course or going to China to learn. I have 2 classes a week for one hour with my teacher online. All the learning is live so I can interact with my teacher Jenny and ask a lot of questions. My teacher is very sweet and helpful and helps me learn what I think is most important. I plan on traveling to China often and am taking the Essential Chinese course. I've learned a ton so far!

I honestly couldn't stand learning Mandarin at first. It was just so difficult--and felt more like memorizing equations than learning a language. I was pretty disappointed after a year at University. Then I found Becky and she completely transformed the way I look at learning any language, but especially Chinese. It HAS to be done with another person, just HAS to. It's not living, otherwise, and therefore no fun. Couldn't do Mandarin without Becky and wouldn't want to!

Service with a smile

It was great seeing that my teacher was ALWAYS happy to be teaching me. I've never met a teacher so enthusiastic. It's refreshing. Having been through other classes, I can say it's a rarity. I recommend this if you want to learn and feel like your teacher wants you to learn, too.

I'll admit that I am pretty lazy about going to class. I learned Chinese for a bit in college and gave it up, it was hard and I missed too many beginning classes. Then, I met my girlfriend when I decided to move to China to teach English. Originally I planned to just stay for a year and experience something new (plus I still knew how to say things like "nihao"). I was taken completely by surprise when I fell in love with the culture, the people--my girlfriend--and even the language. Since we have been dating, I desperately have wanted to improve my Chinese so I can be a better part of her world. The only thing is that although she helps, its weird for her to be like a teacher and a girlfriend. That's when I decided to do online classes, its simple, I can do it from home after being exhausted from a day teaching kids haha. Plus, my teachers at eChineseLearning are awesome, I learn a ton of new things every lesson and they really give me a direction with my learning. I completely recommend this service!

Diamond in the rough
April 11, 2017

I should have taken Chinese classes in college, but I didn't. I realized how useful it could be to me as a banker after I took my first job after graduating. Well, I signed up for a handful of different programs, but to be honest, none were effective. A lot of money down the drain. EChineseLearning is the most recent school I've tried, and so far I'm extremely satisfied. I've been with them for three months. It feels like my teachers care about me. They're enthusiastic. And I also get one-on-one classes, which is excellent. Can't say enough good things about them.

I was so nervous about my HSK level 4 test. There ewas just too much to master on my own--and I haven't been able to get confidence with my tones like I would like. Finding Ellie turned my study world around. She has completely changed my attitude towards Mandarin, instead of dreading it I look forward to our lessons three times a week. It's like having a friend, study partner and amazing teacher all in one. Can't thank you enough for all the time and effort, Ellie. I did it!

Following my best friend from college, I decided to move to China for at least a year or two and teach English after we graduated. I was planning on speaking as much Chinese as possible when there, so I wanted to get a head start before arriving in China, so I signed up for echineselearning's Immerision program and took six months of classes before leaving for China. The teachers could help me with my questions not only about language, but also about living in China and Chinese culture- they could speak English really well. I'd highly recommend checking them out... no regrets choosing them.

I have been so determined to learn Mandarin--wanted to for at least five years--but my commitments always got in the way. I'm in my late twenties and I'm always working, or have plans to go out--distractions that keep me away from simply studying. Ever since booking my lessons, I can see how my determination is kept on track. I'm able ot have a reason to study throughout the week and keep myself disciplined. This is a HUGE part of language success and I'm so glad I found y'all. Thank you!

This is exactly what I was missing in my studies! I am one of those people that like to learn on my own and preferably for free. I am good at self-study and a motivated person. I just came to a point where online materials are not enough to advance me and you can only get so far with just a textbook. My problem-not having anyone to practice Chinese with. I don't live around many Chinese people or have Chinese friends. I also have yet to go to China (I am planning a trip soon). So, I finally decided to bite the bullet and get an online tutor. The classes are great as they are completely customized to what I want to work on and super convenient as I can continue to do the classes from my couch. Its not a super cheap service, but its way cheaper than joining a program or university. So far I am pretty satisfied and feel like I am once again moving up a level.

My parents pressured me into learning Chinese (Mandarin) this year. I enrolled in a high school class but found that it wasn't really focused on speaking.

While my high school class did teach me about Chinese culture and pinyin, the teacher couldn't really set time aside to help me personally.

I decided to sign up with eChineseLearning after a Free Trial and it really helped to supplement what I was learning in class. My classmates made tons of mistakes and the teacher couldn't really correct them. My teachers on this website guided me and gave me their 100% full attention. Soon I became the best speaker in the class.

Yes, the extra money I paid is tough but it's worth it in the long run, since the Chinese tones are so important.

I was not smart enough to try Mandarin immersion without taking lessons in basic Mandarin before doing it. EChineseLearning has proven to be a better investment for 1 year than that 3-month crash course that left me with little foundational knowledge. I've been studying with my eChinese teacher for 18 months, now, and wish I had it to do over--I would have enjoyed that immersion so much more! If you're wanting to do Chinese and are excited--book lessons here and THEN book your tickets!

OMG I thought that Chinese was impossible. In fact, I thought about giving up after watching a few videos and trying to learn myself. A friend of mine who's learning French online suggested that I try online lessons.
I noticed that it's cheaper than a personal tutor here in London and decided to go for it. The price with echineselearning is great and the convenience saves me so much time.
The teachers are encouraging and upbeat- they motivated me and taught me that Chinese isn't impossible.
I'm still working on the tones (only been learning two months) but I can have basic conversation already:)
I'm planning on a trip to Beijing next year and I expect to speak NO ENGLISH while I'm there. So excited!

Thank goodness I found my teacher Ellie before I bought my tickets to Beijing this year! She has absolutely made my trip--and it has been so fun spending 3 hours a week with her. Can't recommend this teacher and website enough. There are soooo may free resources, and the one-on-one sessions bumped me up from a beginner who can't carry a conversation to a beginner who can. I have been able to get around Beijing on my own and not drown in my own ignorance. Thank you Ellie!

I signed up for this site after I didn't have time to attend my evening Chinese classes at the community college. I had a few lessons with a private tutor in New York but it was super expensive.

EChineseLearning was a great option and I liked their free trial lesson. I signed up for some summer course and decided to renew my subscription for another year as the lessons were going well.

It's more affordable than a private tutor in my city and more convenient and personal than an evening adult course. Can't go wrong!

I'd recommend also using a few apps and websites to help when you're not in class. These apps can't teach you Chinese though- they just help along the way.
