The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the quality of unique items and positive experiences with customer service. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns, including inflated shipping costs, poor communication, and issues with product authenticity. Many customers report dissatisfaction with the handling of returns and complaints, often facing unresponsive support. Overall, while there are pockets of positive feedback, the prevailing sentiment suggests a decline in service quality and transparency, leading to frustration among long-time users and potential legal actions from dissatisfied customers.

In fairness I did finally receive a refund, took a lot of effort but it got done. Will I use this site again? Not a chance, lost my trust.
I agree with reviewer that said wait till you have a problem, bought a dozen or so items, one or two were rubbish, but I accepted that. Then I had a print not arrive, the perky and helpful e mails dried up to complete indifference, EBTH got paid, UPS got paid, you guessed it, I got zero, zip, nada! Try invaluable or 1st dibs, better items, better provenance.
I actually have been a fan of EBTH, no issues, just expensive deliveries. Customer service seemed good. The I received a piece of $#*! gold chain that they were selling that should have been marked as scrap. Paid over $200 for a chain that had so many kinks it could not lay flat. Numerous e-mail and over a week, they denied my claim and would not refund my money. Today was my last day with EBTH.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! They sold me a car that they didn't have a clear title for. After they got my payment they told me they had a problem and it should be cleared up quickly. Then they dumped it on the estate executor and pretty much were no help. Finally after I agreed to give it a month I called and he had done nothing to get the title cleared through the attorneys. Ask for money back and you wait for 14 days 10 business days to get your money. So that's 2 and a half months wasted because of their utter incompetence. When you talk to a service person they either try to paint pictures of Unicorns and Rainbows or get snippy. They are pretty much worthless in solving actual issues in a responsive manner. I think they are like teenagers. If you order from them expect exorbitantly high cost. They wrapped a pottery lot in paper and broke 2/3's of the items. I had ok luck with local buys but they stopped doing that when they moved their business model to screwing you on shipping. All in all I would not do business with these shady people anymore.
Picking up the item was easy breezy. Thank you for the great organization in Cincinnati. This is my second time and it really was a nice experience.
I sold a large collection of rocks & minerals with EBTH. I dropped my items off at their warehouse meticulously packed and ready to ship, as I was aware that their current (unnecessary and inconvenient) business plan is to ship all items to their main warehouse in Cincinnati, OH to be photographed and re-packaged before the sale. When I dropped my items off, they took the specimens out of their boxes, removed the padding, threw them in ziplock bags, wrapped them in a piece of packing paper, and shipped them to their main warehouse. Needless to say, many of the mineral specimens broke during the process. Weeks later, when they finally posted pictures of my specimens on their website, I noticed large chunks of my specimens missing in many of the listings. When the specimens arrived in Cincinnati broken, instead of taking accountability for their actions and contacting me, they simply threw away the smaller half of each broken specimen and pretended that nothing happened. When confronted, they refused any fault and said that is how the specimens arrived. DO NOT trust EBTH with your belongings. They are con artists through and through.
LOVE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE SOME GREAT THINGS FOR MY HOME AND FAMILY! THE ONLY NEGATIVE IS SHIPPING IS HIGH OR PICK UP TIMES ARE TO SOON WITHOUT MANY OPTIONS! OTHERWISE IT'S A FUN SALE! NEVER HAD TO PICK UP SO CAN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THAT BECAUSE I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED THIS BEFORE.
My selling online was an experience since I've never done this before. EBTH helped every step of the way. Posted my item, notified me as they proceeded with the sale. Everything went smoothly and I never had to do anything but send item to them. It was
Professionally handled and I was delighted with the results.
I would recommend EBTH to my friends as they are, as I said, Professional.
Dont trust this company. They all lie to you. They take Your items from your home than come back and say they never took items. They steal your items Look at all their review everyone basic show they lie and steal your items and than when you call them on it they say that your a liar and they refuse to do anything to deal with you than. They dont return calls they break items also and dont reimburse you. Run from this company. They will rob you blind.
I have purchased from this auction site about 4 time, I noticed that for small items that sold at a price of $50 for Kalimba Thumb piano Lyres all hand made African instruments that are about 2 LBS with packaging, the shipping charge for 3 day ground was $30.35. I watched an auction for a Anvil that must have been 150 LBS with hammers and the shipping estimate was by weight less than the instruments. I watch an auction for a copper fire pit, and the shipping estimate was $397 to ship to Los Angeles. The cost to ship ear rings VS. a record player by weight should not be respectively $24 for the ear rings, and $58.17 for the record player. They charge 40% of the sale price to post the items for you. It is a convient service if you have a whole estate to liquidate. This is not what it appears to be of the face of it and the spirit of the deal.
This was my 2nd purchase. The first one took forever to ship, but I gave them a second chance - now I am paying a huge shipping cost - very bad. Will not use this company again. My $19 item is $24 to ship! Watch out!
I have purchased several items locally from EBTH and I was very pleased with the results. I will not buy anything that has to be shipped any more because the shipping costs were much higher than quoted. I also had a problem with my last local purchase. I won two lamps and they were a very good price, however I was not notified about the pickup location or time. Fortunately I was able to contact someone (not locally) and I was able to pick up the lamps at the warehouse for an extra $20. I can not take that chance again. So... beware!
I have purchased quite a few items through EBTH. Although the website is very well designed and attractive, the professional photos often beautify the item and show the item from angles that hides flaws. The descriptions often miss critical condition cues like cracks can be called scratches, chip on antique lamp is not included in the description but as a second hand item should be assumed (words of the customer service representative). The customer service representatives were very polite in their refusal to refund me what I consider the omission in the description. A representative named Kim E was truly sorry to disagree with me regarding the methods of describing items and there was nothing she could do to console me. Another thing: read really really well if you decide to retract your bid. I used my cell phone to bid on one of the items while shopping and instead of 141$ bid I put 1141$ bid. I was the winning bidder with $525 purchase I was ready to pay only $141 for. The representative refused to listen to me and accept the mistake. They would not offer this item to the second best bidder or accept returns. So, in my opinion shop at this auction house on your own. I would not ever put this EBTH on the same level as Ebay. Customer service and return policy at Ebay is a moon away from this wannabe.
When I first became acquainted with EBTH, I found some great deals that could be picked up with little hassle. Then the company began sending anything they considered valuable to Blue Ash so they could gouge everyone on shipping. So now I eliminate anything with forced shipping from my favorites list ad refuse to bid on those items. If enough people employed the same strategy, I am fairly certain that EBTH would have to change their policy back. Right now the discount is ruined.

Thank You'
EBTH is an online estate sale auction company that we landed on haphazardly. Titled, "Own a piece of the Fox Theatre, one of Atlanta's most iconic landmarks. From rugs to ornaments to collectibles. Some of the pieces date back to the Fox's original decor." This item, one of several misidentified or incorrectly described, we purchased with our PayPal card, was not from the Fox Theatre. A ticket tied to chairs, "Taken from the Roxy.," a lesser venue. I paid to have the lots picked up, 10 hour drive time, $100 gas. I inspected the items immediately upon arrival. This is not the only lot that was not as described. We wrote EBTH over a week ago, asking for a full refund and cost of the pick up and return shipping. We agree with the 100 plus abysmal reviews reviews on just one site that this is a slipshod, exploitative or fraudulent enterprise that should be shutdown. Many people have been hurt.
I have purchased many items on this site. I have had everything shipped to me. They certainly don't rush your items to you. In addition, don't purchase anything fragile or breakable. They lack the ability to wrap or protect items. I have received items loosely wrapped in bubble, placed in oversized boxes, and completely destroyed in transit. Good luck complaining, you won't get very far. Finally, the shipping is EXPENSIVE!
Seems like nobody ever takes the time to leave a review unless it's bad these days. I've come here to do the opposite. Changing the world one review at a time, and hoping others will follow suit, by taking time to submit good reviews for good transactions.
I won a large lot online, there were no hidden fees, I paid exactly what I was quoted for shipping. I paid the same night I won my auction, it was shipped and arrived very quickly- in just a few days time! It was packaged very safely & securely, they did a great job, nothing was broken, all my assorted toy pieces shown in the lot were there, with maybe a few extras I couldn't make out in the photos.
I would recommend this website to family & friends... but don't too many of you take my word, that way I can keep some of the deals to myself ;)
Gold coins, antique icons, antique book, antique ottoman and greek manuscript, ancient jewlleries, antique parchment, antique marbles, abtique rifles
I have used EBTH many times now, and am always impressed by the variety of items that can be found in the auctions. The shipping costs are quite high, which results in my not bidding on some items. But for someone who is "homebound", the convenience of not having to drive all over hoping to find unique items is a plus. This is a great site, especially if you are able to pick up items in person, or figure in the cost of shipping when bidding.
I could not be more pleased with the process, staff, and results. From engagement with the sales person to cleaning out the house, and watching the auction, and resulting in cash in the bank for my mom and a house ready to market. The EBTH team was friendly, professional, and keenly competent at their jobs. The few hiccups along the way were handled expertly by their customer service. I would not hesitate to use them again, and highly recommend them to anyone in need of assistance with dissolution of an estate.
Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
