Complicated - not intuitive. Installed the trial version and 5 days later receive a phishing email with a false report title. Have removed from my computer.
I have tried repeatedly to cancel my free trial and they have made it impossible. I followed the link provided in their reminder email, which led nowhere. Then I followed the instructions on how to cancel, which said to go into my account and click on the plan tab and then click on manage tab, which doesn't exist. If you call for service, their automated message says that they don't provide support but doesn't provide a phone contact number. Their online support is non-existent so basically they are doing everything possible to prevent me from cancelling my free trial and apparently will start billing me in a few days. Is anyone launching a lawsuit against this company, as I would be delighted to participate. Don't sign up for anything with them as it's impossible to get free of their grip on your credit card.
I got locked out of my account due to 2-factor authentication. I don't have any device connected to my dropbox account and I don't own the phone number on my account.
Because of this I can't access my own files and my information is lost forever.
I will not trust this company again. Their account recover policy is bad compared to other business. DON'T USE 2-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION as you can shoot yourself in the foot and Dropbox will not help you to recover the account.
I started using GOOGLE DRIVE and I'll not do business with Dropbox anymore.
Couldn't get done what I intended to use Dropbox for on a business account due to all the glitches and confusing way it's designed, so I never really used it. Got a notice of a $799.50 charge that I didn't want and was unaware it would renew for full year when the norm using other apps is a monthly subscription.
This sting tactic although legal is unethical and bad business.
Taking that amount of money unannounced and on short notice at a time when it's needed for more pressing family maters is UNETHICAL! Their refund policy is nonexistent, as well as their customer service.
Buyer beware!
Perhaps I shouldn't complain since I have a free account but I had personal, important (to me)files on Dropbox for several years. Occasionally I would use them and they was always there on Dropbox until today. They are gone. Not a file available under my special folder. When I went to contact them, they want a link to the disaster so I give them one. But their form will not take my link so I am unable to even complain. Thats why I'm here.
If you have files you need to keep do not rely on Dropbox because they will disappoint you they only hold files for 30 days(free). Get yourself a disk from WD or Seagate and don't trust any of these cloud type services. Learn from my mistake!
I do not even use dropbox and they have taken $199.99 for last year and $199.99 for this year and I did not authorize that payment. I tryed them for 7-day trial and canceled. They have charged my account twice and when I have asked for a refund I have not received it.
THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY! THEY DO IT THROUGH PAYPAL!
UPDATE: File structure and page organization is better and more organized and a little more ergonomic. Glad they're trying. Still slow though. I'm updating my review from 1 to 3 stars.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: This webpage is NOT ergonomic at all. I JUST WANT TO MOVE, DOWNLOAD, UPLOAD AND DELETE FILES. The interface is CLUNKY, SLOW, AND NOT ERGONOMIC AT ALL.
For instance, if I want to simply delete or download a file, the buttons should be RIGHT THERE. Not tucked up in some menu all the way to the right or where ever. Also different folder views for the same files DRIVE ME NUTS. MAKE ONE VIEW: "My Files" which includes ALL FILES IN THE FOLDER STRUCTURE YOU WANT. Terrible. Presently looking for something better. Disgraceful.
One of the first cloud services, always worked good but latest updates are increasing the size of the app and make it less practical, with more functions that go unnoticed. A service like this one should merge with the user interface without adding more value than the one is supposed to offer: cloud storage. Still a good service but falling behind Google Drive and iCloud.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I was offered a free 30 day trial. Did not like the app & tried to cancel immediately problem was NO OPTION TO UNSUBSCRIBE. I contacted Dropbox a total waste of time. They send instructions that again have NO OPTION to unsubscribe. I called ITunes followed their instructions, And NO OPTION TO UNSUBSCRIBE. I've been trying for a month now... STAY FAR FAR AWAY from this app!
I'm pretty satisfied with their service and easy to understand. Thank you so much for this great service. Highly recommended all of you use this service. I'm pretty sure you also love this service.
Dropbox support will NOT put a stop on future charges after they promised to stop charging our card on two different occasions. Your only option is to cancel the card number and the CC company will issue a new card with another number. You might get nasty letters from Dropbox just like I did. The trash can or shredder is a good place for the company along with the threat letters.
Having been a long-standing customer of Dropbox, since January 2015 as a Plus member, I decided to give Dropbox Business a trial.
I opted for the trial and to pay yearly (biggest mistake ever).
As a small business owner, you can often find yourself short on time and a month's trial quickly shot by and I was invoiced.
It was at this stage that I was trying to revert back to Plus and cancel the service as it simply didn't fit our requirements.
The problem was I didn't want to find myself having lost any of my data. When I finally had my data backed up I went to Dropbox to request a refund for the 11 months that I had not used.
After several emails, I was only refunded 50% of the total. I cannot believe that after 1 month of signing up ($71.96) - I am out of pocket $359.80.
Dropbox you have lost a loyal customer paying $180 a year, in fact, I feel sickened and robbed by a company I previously trusted.
This service, since they changed their policy, sucks. They recently changed their policy on their free account of not more than 3 devices linked at one time and they said if you had more than that before they changed to that policy you could keep all the devices connected. That was a lie, I had 6 and I was forced to disconnect 3 from the service.
I complained with no results and no consideration from them about their own policy. The price they charge for the paid account is ludicrous when there is other services far better with more storage for free like Google Drive at 15 gig with unlimited devices linked which is what I transferred to when Dropbox refused to allow me to relink my 3 devices that they forced me to unlink.
I am very satisfied with their service and very easy system to understand. They have very easy download and upload option but the space is very limited for free user. Anyways, it is very good product and recommended!
My wife and I have used dropbox for a few years. Several months ago I received a call from them stating that I was running out of space and needed more to save anymore information. Since I was unsure of how much activity my wife was using I purchased some additional space to be billed monthly on my credit card. A couple of months ago I realized I had plenty of unused space and could not find a way to cancel. So I disputed the charges with my credit card company. Apparently they know how to contact them. I am still searching for a way to cancel my agreement and discontinue any further relationship with them. Can anyone help?
They're automatically billing me and I can't cancel this account. Nowhere in my account does it provide the option to cancel, and their email links lead nowhere. This is very fraudulent. I wouldn't recommend that anybody do business with them for any reason. No customer support line. Total dishonesty.
I was scammed too. Dirty thieves. What a business model. Hook people and then charge them and say, "sorry we don't do refunds." I'd like to dropkick...
Beware of their scam for the business license. They got me for $1000 and I'm just a home user. We paid to back up our photos for $9 and next thing I know hey charged $1000 to our credit card. I called 18 days later once I saw our statement and they said not refunds. I have no idea how this happened.
I'll join the chorus of unhappy customers. I spent 2.5 hours disputing a charge I disagreed with. Their terms of service are obscure at best. They will auto-renew you without your knowledge or consent. I spent almost an hour on a chat session with a worthless agent. From the stilted conversation I could tell she is working from a remote location in some other country. The charge went through PayPal so I protested the charge through them and am waiting for a response. A friend who writes programs told me that Dropbox is no longer a secure site and to avoid them. If their customer service is so bad, how can they run a secure site that works properly?
Beware Dropbox's 'FREE TRIAL' offer requiring a credit card!
Unless you positively vote NO / CANCEL at the end of the trial you are automatically subscribed. I was charged a massive E738 for a service I tried once but can't use due slow internet speeds. The annual fee is totally non-refundable and they don't even email to warn or remind you the free trial period is up.
Amazingly they are doing nothing illegal, but it feels like unethical sharp practice akin to being mugged and is extremely poor customer service.
Shame on you Dropbox. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!
Answer: TRUE THEY SCAMMED ME TOO!
Answer: SCAMMERS!
Answer: I hope there is a class action suit and I will join it.
Answer: Dropbox customer support will soft talk you into thinking they are helping to put a stop to their fraudulent charges, but in the end they actually do nothing. I don't believe they have an in-house system to stop credit card charges. There are many crooked companies that do business this same way as well. How many people don't read their credit card statement in full every month? And the dropbox folks rake in the fraudulent charges people don't catch. Call them, and they say "we're sorry" it won't happen again. I went through that three times and finally had to re-issue my card with a new number. Shown is a canned text statement below sent to people with billing problems: >"I will need all of the following information for security reasons and to locate the charge to assist you:"< > Card type First six digits of the card Last four digits of the card Full name on the credit card charged Date of charge Amount charged Billing postal code< "Dear Dropbox, If I spent the same amount of time, it takes to cancel a CC looking at the thousands of negative online reviews before I bought Dropbox I would be well ahead of the game. I added my negative review of dropbox to the many already online after I changed the CC number on my Visa, of course. And no, I will not give you any more cc numbers or names. Dropbox has a worldwide reputation of continuous charges once they get your number. Did you think I just fell off the turnip truck? LOL Goodbye Forever,"
Answer: I was unsuccessful as well. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card. It is still being investigated. My wife was successful in getting a refund on a new account that she never used, within 7 days of paying. She is the only one I know of that has done that successfully.
