I was having difficulty getting my phone unlocked by the original carrier. They wanted to speak to the original owner. But unfortunately that person was deceased. Thankfully I found Direct Unlocks and they were able to get it unlocked for me in just a short time.

Scam, fraud, misleading

Scam, avoid like a plague! Speak to your bank, report as a fraud transaction so you can get your money back. They advertise unlocking services and mislead you to pay a free, and then you discover that is not for unlocking a device, but to CHECK if a device can be unlocked. Then they ask you for MORE money to unlock your device, which if they cannot unlock, they will still keep your money. It is a scam, it is robbery, it is fraud! Reviews are all fake, bots, purchased from call centres abroad to pretend it is not a scam. Check other people scammed by them here on moneysavingexpert forums, lots of people!

You've made two payments: £23.99 for the Eligibility Check and £34 for the Standard Unlock. These payments are necessary steps to ensure we can unlock your ZTE MC888 from the network Three UK. I can assure you that all these costs are clearly outlined on our checkout page prior to any purchase.

Currently, your order status is "Hard-Locked." As mentioned in our [Terms and Conditions](#), "Any unlocks which come back as Hard-Locked by the network will be refunded in the form of a Credit Note, due to the amount of work required in attempting to perform this unlock." You've been issued a credit note which can be used against any sim unlocking service, and for any device.

I bought a refurbished iPhone in the UK which was sold as unlocked.
Not so.
I contacted Direct Unlocks and followed their instructions. The phone was locked to a Japanese provider. DU suggested that it would take up to five days.
Painful, but what other option did I have as it was a Friday evening?
The process started and after 3 days, I received a message saying that the unlocking was restarted with the Manufacturer as the Japanese provider was unresponsive. Two more days and my phone is unlocked. Life is restored to normal.
All through the wait period I was kept informed of progress and apologies for the delayed process.

I wish I knew about the icloud unlock before the phone unlock. I would have ensured the icloud was unlocked before. I didn't realized it takes at least 36 hours before completion. After all said and done, everything was done as stated.

I was very sceptical about direct unlock after I start waiting over the time they give me for it to be complete. It was about 4 days time in total I wait. I was getting a little frustrated as the hours pass by. Until boom. They send me the code and as soon as I enter it my phone was open. So after all I was very please that it wasn't a scam.

I loved using the service it was quick and easy to unlock my device, I spent 2 Hours on hold with AT&T trying to get my device unlocked with no luck. Unlocked my Samsung A20e

My phone was network locked, and I did not know the network it had been on, as the phone was a gift. Direct Unlocks kindly helped me know which network the phone had been on, and then proceeded to systematically work on getting the phone unlocked. Which, after an email advising the network unlock code, and upon entering the code, my phone was unlocked and ready to use.
