CSL Plasma

I walked in and a woman at a cubicle was like I am waiting for the computer to turn on I called HR, and she was so uninterested and confused. Then I go to the front, I was told I have to leave and go eat a lot of food and come back. I was so full tried to tell them that. So I did just that, so now I am super full and uncomfortable at this point, and not happy, I did say its like stuffing a pig, it was ridiculous. Trying to prove where I live was a joke as well. I went in the back and was still not happy so manager comes in and starts talking that I have an attitude and she expects donors to be as nice as her employees. Well I was being as nice as her employees, in other words the employees were not right. Then she had the nerve to tell her employees if she gives you any more attitude let me know, in front of everyone. Like who does she think she is. Donors are there to make a difference, at least I was. Forcing someone to eat that is full is awful, and then shaming them for being mad is unreal. I know when I am full. I am a phlebotomist as well I understand the need to have food in your body. I understand people get sick and weak. I would not do that to myslef. Needless to say I wanted to donate to hopefully help someone. The manager has an authoritative complex. IF YOU WANT TO DONATE BLOOD GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT THERE! I have spoke with a few friends that donate all the time and they were in shock. They go elsewhere! Rating is negative 100. I am so discusted.

What to expect the first time that you may find helpful. They have a limit to how many new donors they can accept in one day. I saw many turned away as their quota was met, so first time donor GET IN EARLY! The first appointment will take about 3 hours so be sure your schedule is clear and you do not need to rush out. Other than those two things everything is straight forward as you will read in the app.

I've bin going to csl for about 4 months, I do it for charity. I came in did my stats so I could then move on to a bed, everybody is always nice except one woman who just likes to bring her anger to work. I had a bottle of water like always, I forgot your not supposed to drink or eat in the bed but they didn't have me hooked up, I took the last drink and threw the bottle away she came at me you can't drink that over here, ok I said I'm sorry, they told you that when you signed up ok once again I'm sorry, she looked at me like she was hoping I would say something else. Well they hooked me up right away the machine messed up. I said am I broken no said 3 other employees well she had to come over all of a sudden it is my fault I'm dehydrated she said no mam I said I drink 12 to 15 bottles a day well she got snippy wanted to argue about it. I said I'm not going to argue with you. Well she was talking under her breath as she walked away.no more problem after that I finish in 40 minutes as usual. But that's it for me. It's charity for crying out loud. Get somebody else to take your crappy life out on. Sorry to the rest of the crew good people.

So sick of every time I go there it's a 2-4 hour wait! On your feet! NO CHAIRS!

This place is a JOKE!

I went to a CSL Plasma Center the other day to donate. I'm a perfectly healthy 69-year-old who meets the basic qualifications listed on their website and could use a little extra cash, like many of us can these days. No big deal. Got into the screening process (which seemed to take forever -- the woman kept disappearing and just leaving me sitting there for several minutes at a time for no explained reason). At one point, one of the "nurses" said I was out of their age range, which she stated is 64. I pointed out to her that their website states "18 to 74," which she denied and told me not to get nasty with her. She left, and another woman came in and said the other woman was still in training. Well, properly train your staff, people!
Second... they noticed a short incision in my right forearm with stitches. I said I had just recently had a small, very common, non-malignant squamous cell carcinoma removed by my dermatologist and was just waiting to have the stitches taken out this Friday. No big deal, the incision is healing up nicely, there's no bleeding, and all is well. Well... I can't donate as long as those stitches are there. What? What do soon-to-be-removed stitches on a clean incision that clearly is not bleeding have to do with donating plasma? Nope! Can't donate until those stitches are taking out.

Fine... I'll just come back next week. It's another 20-mile round trip, but hey... no big deal.

Here's the kicker, though! I've been using a walker for the last several months because of an apparent, supposedly relatively minor neurological issue in my back that's affecting my walking and balance. No pain, no health issues, as such... just a nerve in my lower spine that looks, according the latest MRI, is being pinched -- an issue that should easily be able to be taken care... just waiting to see the neurologist.

Guess what... I have to get my doctor to fill out a report saying the use of the walker is not resulting from or causing any health reasons that would cause me not to be able to donate plasma! YOU HAVE TO TO BE KIDDING! I clearly explained to them that it's a simple orthopedic/neurological issue, and not in any way health related! NOPE! They won't take my plasma! Good thing I didn't roll in there in a wheel chair!

As much as I'd really enjoy that extra bit of cash, I'm really debating whether I want to go back and give them my business! What a total joke! Not to mention, from the looks of things in general, it was like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing out there!

This is the second Plasma center I have participated with so am basing this experience upon comparison. The center off Americana doesn't open up until 9:00 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday, when they are open later, until 7:00 p.m. The other days they open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m. It is "first come/first serve" with no manner to make appointments in order to control amount of donors coming at one time. I came to this company after researching it and saw advertised $1000, and up to $1100, the first month (eight donations). I am fairly certain that I saw posting on the wall of the processing room payment that reflected what would be about $1000, then read (on a paper on the wall at the fifth donation) that it would be $865. I do plan on checking on this information. I have checked, once again, on what the advertised first month is and am still seeing the $1000 and up to $1100. After the first month, CSL provides compensation based on weight and amount of plasma. Even while with the thought of the $1000 the first month, I felt as if we, the donators, were "cattle" being processed. This thought could be biased compared upon previous experience with another company. Also the compensation based on weight is different and, in its own way, reinforces individuals being overweight because if you weigh 150 or more they take more plasma which increases the compensation. At my height, it is not healthy for me to weigh 150 (although I border close to it), so, after my first eight donations, my weekly (twice a week) compensation will be lower, especially if I get to what is a "healthy" weight, then I was receiving from another company - even with the $10 bonus for the second donation of the week. For the most part, the associates have been very congenial and pleasant. Most of the employees are a pleasure to be around and have as phlebotomists. I have had three or four different phlebotomists and three of the four have provided pleasant experiences with little to no pain. When I last asked for a different phlebotomist (because the fourth one was going to start) the individual accepted my decision (I had already told the other phlebotomist I wanted them). If you weigh over 150 and donate twice a week, then the compensation ends up reasonable (if I remember right) but this compensation based upon weight and amount "encourages" unhealthy weights, or can be perceived as, "unfair" for those who are on the shorter side, and thereby weigh less. I am currently weighing the location convenience against feeling like "cattle," the pain of the fourth (which was first) phlebotomist, and the lower compensation after my eighth donation - especially if the first month compensation ends up being lower then originally expected. I admit that I might have a different perspective if this had been my first experience with Plasma Centers.

CSL is a very busy place and no matter how busy they are always friendly and kind to all even when they have people waiting.

I came in as a new customer be and I want to tell you this two and my a half hours that's how long I was there in total. I had told my wife that I'd be gone about 4 hrs, now I had some free time to get rid of what was I going to do with 1.5 hrs,. Shopping yes. Thank you Csl.

Since signing up earlier this week, I have spent 8-9 hours waiting and jumping through hoops this week! Internet and documentation system have been sketchy as heck. I keep being told to sit in waiting area for the nurse. I'm a healthy adult. I was ready with all information required on sign up. I've just decided there has to be a more organized center to do this at.

The process was smooth and the people were helpful! I appreciate how easy they made the experience! :)

Long story short, my husband and I are heavily tattooed. We have tattoos that cover the area of the arms where the needle would go for the donation to be taken. That's all fine and well however, CSL will allow you to go fill out some paperwork, watch at video etc and at the end of that tell you that you can't donate because of the location of your tattoo. WOW! Two hours of our time wasted! There should be a sign or something somewhere to tell folks this before the process even starts! Just and FYI for inked folks out there!

Everyone was nice and professional CSL is the place to go if you like money and saving lives come to CSL
