Hired Critter Control to get rid of a family of Foxes next to my house. They spread Coyote sent around the burrow and set up traps to catch them. I filled in the burrow when they said they were done and the foxes were gone. All they did was scare the foxes away for a month and then they came back and dug up the hole again. They wanted another 1,000.00 to try and trap them again.
We had a frustrating experience with the Knoxville-area location of this company. We reached out specifically for rodent extermination AND exclusion services -- not just trapping -- and clearly communicated that sealing entry points was a priority (we have proof of this). After a consultation with a representative I'll call J. J., we were sent a contract that explicitly stated sealing would be included. That was the only reason we moved forward and paid the initial fee. Weeks later, a different technician arrived and was surprised to learn she was the first person to visit the property beyond J. J. She told us she was only there to service traps and had no idea exclusion was supposed to be part of the job. She was kind and clearly not at fault. But shortly after, J. J. called and spent 20 minutes gaslighting me -- insisting exclusion was never discussed and wasn't in the contract. Only after I pushed back did he finally READ the contract and after some time, he finally admitted he had used the wrong template. He still refused to honor it and continued to lie about how we never mentioned exclusion. They eventually offered a full refund, which we appreciate. But we spent weeks waiting while dealing with rodents, only to be told they wouldn't follow through with what was promised in writing. I understand that mistakes happen, but a person's attitude and willingness to take accountability can truly make or break a situation. The miscommunication, shifting blame, and unprofessional conduct make this a company we would never recommend.
I entered a contract with Critter Control mid-March 2025. This contract was for treatment of mole infestation to kill and prevent their return. Eric came to do the initial investigation and sales. I had a similar contract several years ago with Trutech which was not a good experience. He spoke openly about the merger of Trutech with Critter Control and that things were now better as Critter Control was doing the service. I was encouraged to hear that and reviewed his proposed plan. The plan I purchased was not cheap either time! It was for a service call that included gassing identified mole trails and return visits to follow-up with other gassing as needed as well as application of castor oil, etc. as a deterrent. I have not seen them since March and have never been contacted for any follow-up service. I have called numerous times, and I get no reply from their service department. I called Eric he did eventually call back with apologies and said he would get on management to schedule service. Two weeks later I have still heard nothing. I am reporting to the Better Business Bureau, and I am going for a refund on my contract. If that doesn't work, I will contact the State Attorney Generals' office. Because, as I read in other posts here, and my experience, they do not honor contracts! So, this shop is about getting your money upfront and NOT performing! They need to be taken down and doors closed!
We started with gophers two years ago and contacted Critter Control a few months after our DIY solutions weren't working. They came out and used a carbon monoxide machine ($1,000) to snuff them out. We thought it worked, but they wanted to come out every month to put down bait ($95/month!) but we did it because we were desperate. I had planted many tulip bulbs and found out that was one of their food sources. After several months, there was no activity, so I thought we were good. Then, late last year, they came again, and one tech said he found 64 NEW holes! I was shocked! I have not seen anything, but I let them put more bait down. But the place they put it down had hundreds of tulip bulbs, so I started to become skeptical because they had never gone to that area before. The next month, another tech came out and said he only saw 13 new holes, so something didn't feel right. Now, it's mid-March, and every tulip bulb is coming up in those two gardens, but not one mound has been seen. So, I canceled my monthly service (I paid $1600 in total and still got charged that month) and got some solar sonar stakes to put in my gardens to keep them away. It worked! It cost me about $100 for 8 stakes, and if I had done that at first, I would have saved thousands. I am disappointed in the service and will never use them again!
Employees left a mess and a window open after attic cleanup. Appointments not kept. Abysmal communication. "Techs" show up without proper screwdriver to open attic hatch when known it is needed. RUDE, disrespectful men. Overpriced. Awful experience.
I would definitely rate them unsatisfactory. I had a rat problem in my garage and gave them a call. On the phone I was told they would identify point of entry (which was obvious because of the garage stripping missing), set traps and help with clean up. When the technician came he stated I must have family present due to the amount of rat poop, and he guaranteed he would get the rats and proceeded to set up 5 traps (they were $5 Home Depot traps with a dab of peanut butter.) When I asked about sweeping up any of the droppings, he said that would be an extra charge. That was the last I saw of him for over a week but he did have someone come in and out 2 other times and just checked to see if anything was caught and spend about 2 minutes in the garage. I called the office to complain that for $599 I should be getting more than having $25 worth of mouse traps set up. I finally swept up the droppings and cleaned off the shelves and sprayed clorox bleach so I figured that way I would know if there were additional droppings. Let me just say, for $599 you would think the 30-year-old technician could have at least swept up the droppings so he would know if there were additional droppings but no, the 64-year-old widow with bad hips and knees had to do that for him. He then told me he felt like the rat/s were gone because he didn't see any more droppings and I told him the company guaranteed me they would find the rat, and now he thinks they just walked out on their own, without eating any of the food on the traps. I asked exactly what was the $599 I paid for, and he said "peace of mind!' I paid $599 for PEACE OF MIND! Seriously, you just can't make this stuff up. We have new generation of lazy men that stand there with their hands in their pockets saying "what else do you want me to do." I asked him if I hadn't cleaned up the poop, how would he even know there were no additional dropping, and of course no answer. It's just sad that no one wants to do their job. I don't know what this man gets paid, but to be ok with just doing the absolute minimum blows me away. At that point I told him to take the traps and leave. I was tired waiting around for him to show up whenever he wanted and offering no help at all. Please don't call this company. The people they employe could care less about helping others and doing their job.
Did not complete job per contract. Charged credit card w/o authorization. Didn't supply pictures of work as promised. Out of pocket $3,000.00. Will be contacting credit card company and lawyer if need be.
I paid the 2400 dollars to rid my attack of rats. When I canceled the monthly service, th we y took all the traps out of my attic and bait boxes out of my yard. What did my 2400 pay for? Carlos was terrible and refused to go up in the attack to check for the presence of rats. Use some other HONEST company. All these people are interested in is money, specifically yours.
When service began, Jake and Bryan were good and diligent in the sales and assessment process. Monthly service is not worth it. Unreliable, no regard for client time or consistency and substandard maintenance. Would recommend one time service but that is it!
I am extremely disappointed with Critter Control's service and feel like we completely wasted $2,000. Initially, they quoted us a price that seemed excessive for sealing up some areas to prevent critters from getting into our home, but we reluctantly agreed, especially since my wife is pregnant and we wanted peace of mind. They showed us pictures of areas that needed to be sealed, but after they completed the work, I noticed several of the original problem areas were still left unaddressed.
I requested someone come out and walk us through what had actually been sealed, and while they initially agreed, they completely ghosted me after that. Part of the agreement was that someone would come by daily for the following week to ensure everything was taken care of. When I followed up with Ari, instead of helping schedule those visits, he just gave me someone's number like it was my responsibility to chase them down. Ultimately, someone stopped by only three times.
To make matters worse, our kitchen began to smell like rotting rodents, and I could still hear critters in the attic—exactly what we paid them to prevent! When I spoke to Jonathan, he mentioned we'd receive discounts on future services, but unsurprisingly, we never heard from him again.
This company is unprofessional and unreliable. Not only did they fail to address the original problem, but their communication was nonexistent, and they left us with the same issues we had before they "sealed" anything. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're considering Critter Control.
I am in Murhpy NC area and contacted them for service. Was contacted and they Siad they would come out on Monday. Tried to get them to come on Tueday and was told they do not service Murphy. Should of told me that when I talked to then 4 days before. Need to change their advertisement it is mis-leading
Long story short, I prepaid for service but when the tech came out, he said one service was not required and told me to call and request a refund for it. I did so and received a refund. However, about a month later I saw a pending charge on my credit card for the same amount. I called again and was advised it was a mistake and the charge would not go through. It went through. My credit card company processed a chargeback and Visa blocked the company from charging again. Another month passes and I get an bill via email. I call and find out it was a "software issue" causing my credit to show up as if I owed money. I am assured that my balance is zero and I will not be bothered again. Fast forward a week, I get another emailed bill. At this point the issue is still NOT resolved.
Never trust this company with your money, and if you do, DO NOT PREPAY FOR ANYTHING.
The worst company, horrible customer service, outpriced. They placed a mousetrap above the ceiling in our office, and it's been 6 days since we heard something gets trapped in it! Called and called them numerous times! Gene Kepes (owner? Manager?) said they will schedule (!) someone! Really? The smell is getting worse every day, there are nuggets going to crawl around soon, and we must wait for a free spot on their busy schedule? So now no one is even answering the phone, and we have no idea when we will be blessed and saved by someone from Critter Control from that terrible smell of decaying animal above our heads!
Trust all of the negative reviews about this company. The sales person Daniel Kalchik told us that we had "a severe" rat problem. We paid $2,900 to take care of it. He sold us on a supposed "disinfectant" package to help after the rats are gone. Well we had one mouse, and after the so called disinfection we still have the same smell in the attic. The company is a rip off. DO NOT trust them!
I paid for service and the job was never completed multiple calls were made to Matt and he never came
After repeated complaint phone calls (and unreturned calls) to the local Critter Control Co. And their finance company, Rollins Acceptance Co. I feel I need to make this bad review. Hopefully this will get their attention! I'll keep this short and say it all starts with the salesman that comes to your house. You don't fill out any loan papers, you are not given any paperwork, and the next thing you know you owe them $10,000... I am not just a customer but also a Google Local Guide 8.
I had an appointment for 8-10am. Never showed. Got an email from *******@salesforce.com; on behalf of; Hunter Little <*******@crittercontrol.com> saying "We appreciate the opportunity to serve you. Should you have a future need, please keep us in mind."
Called the 800 number and they said they would have Hunter contact me, NEVER DID. Can I give a less than 1 rating?
Beware! The contract says $299.95 for the inspection, setting live traps, and monitoring the traps for 2 weeks. That sounds fair enough, but in our case the inspector didn't find where the critters were entering, so he had no place to set the traps, and no traps to monitor. $299.95 for a half hour inspection is absurd! I suppose we should have foreseen this possibility when we signed the contract, but what we'd been hearing was not just a little mouse-size critter, so it never crossed our minds that an inspector wouldn't find its entrance.
Don't use them unless you receive a guarantee. Had absolutely no results and so I contacted them for just a partial refund. And someone was supposed to call me back and never did. The lady said well these critters know to stay away from traps. That was her excuse for no results. I just wanted half of my money back. Since I obviously have to call someone else. They have no idea of what type of animals under my house.
Had woodpecker aluminum strips installed on my house and each one blew off in the wind. No one has returned my call. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY
