If I could give 0 stars, I would. Don't be fooled by the free trial like I was. I decided it wasn't for me, and have been trying for nearly 3 months to cancel it. They are billing me $118/mo. There is no way to cancel it. No email address to contact someone. No phone number to call. No way to escalate it. Only a chatbot with instructions that don't work. NO WAY TO DO IT. I have now contacted my bank and have logged a dispute. I now have to cancel my credit card - and that means all my existing direct debits will be dishonoured while I wait for the new card and transfer it all across to a new card number. All because of Coursera. NIGHTMARE.
First they told you to enroll for free, then after giving cc information they completly dissappears and after that they charges you ridiculous ammount. I got charged for 107$ right after the subscription ends and then you got 2 days to get refund. First they sends you tons of email everyday but after subscribing they becomes ghost so you completly forgets.
When they displayed "Enroll For Free" before I created an account, I thought, "Wow, if this course is free, that would be fantastic." But as soon I logged in, the button "Enroll For Free" changed to "Enroll", this infuriated me. Such kind of things are not expected from reputed organizations, and only fraud and scammy companies play such kind of cheap tactics to get people's personal information, so they have to create an account.
This coursera is engaging in excessive advertising, so please you may be think twice that it is worth considering whether or not the product or service is truly worth your time and money.
I subscribed to Coursera for one month and enrolled in a class which uses a software required to complete assignments, however there was some issues with the software licensing midway through the class which meant I couldn't proceed with the course. However Coursera is unwilling to extend my subscription for the period that I couldn't access the software, their customer support is also very unprofessional and only provide canned answers that they cannot help.
Awful awful awful. Used it once and got locked into this internal payment scheme which I was unable to claim a refund for. 50 usd per month. Absolute disgrace
I've only used Coursera's free courses. I use Coursera or EDx (and similar platforms) to get more information on a topic. By no means should someone think the courses are equivalent to a university course. They are designed to be easy to pass, for the masses.
But they are helpful when you want to learn more a little bit more about a topic or to get book resources the course recommends (then you can more).
I would never pay for a certificate from these entities.
Please do not key in your credit card. It enrolls you into an auto scam system! They charge you without knowing.
My CC expired so they couldn't charge, I updated the card on file but there is literally no way of paying a past due amount and they never auto charged.
There was no way to reach them by phone, no chat option and never responded to my request via the contact us page.
It's like they didn't want me to pay, GAVE ME NO OPTIONS ON HOW TO PAY and JUST CANCELED ALL OF MY PROGRESS, so wasted my time when I could have used a different company.
When you open the case, you will not get case number by email, chat is not working, waiting for days
After signing up for $39.99, they didn't charge my card and then said the price increased from $39.99 to $59.99 to continue my program! Very unethical.
This site has been so helpful in moving me forward in my career and making me feel comfortable. I will continue to take more courses to continue educating myself.
Took two courses with Coursera, then had to take time off--they scam you into going into a "program" of seven courses that take WAY TOO long to complete so that they can continue to charge you $$ each month even though you can't finish all of the courses in the time they say you can. Once done, most employers I talked with thought they were a joke--no credit for any courses taken from them transfers or counts for anything. Very disappointing. Spent several months and hundreds of $$ on waste of time. Save yourself from this scam.
When I was looking for a way to take an required coding class last summer, I was having a hard time finding just that. I joined Coursera thinking that it would help to provide me a meaningful education experience. However, I eventually realized that this website was just a total waste of time and money. The course I took only required a 100% grade for every assignment and the class would not progress until I did just that. It is impossible to fail, even on the most challenging of assignments where I would rather take partial credit over a 100%. Simply put, the only way to succeed in Coursera is to cheat your way through and you are better off taking a course at a regular college when it eventually becomes available. In short, the equivalent course I took in college felt 1,000,000 time more fair then what I was offered at Coursera.
Like many other reviews, I paid for a singular course, then learned that this basically automatically enrolled me in a subscription. There is zero mention of this when purchasing or in the emailed "receipt". Their terms of use state you are entitled to a refund within 14 days of subscription payment if there is no free trial period. I did not have a free trial period since I have been charged from the start of my course - $62 a month. I submitted a complaint that must be escalated with further communication, even thought the terms of use seem pretty clear. Steer clear
You can't get a refund past two weeks even though you find out later that they mislead you by saying C and C++ courses are graded by teacher or professor. Nope. They are peer reviewed and you have to review classmates' work. So, how can someone who failed C++ at school, know that they have graded someone else's assignment correctly? How can you know that your assignment is graded correctly? You can't know so you don't know if you are learning the topic. If you have ADHD and sometimes you miss part of the instructions in the assignment, you can't peer review someone else's assignment correctly. And there is a chance that someone will grade yours incorrectly.
They give you 7 day trial, but they will charge you without notice, and you cannot ask refund. It is just stupid way to get money.
Somehow I got popups and ads about Coursera and a free trial. I fell for it and signed up with CC, and by default, as soon as the trial was over, which was 7 days I think, they automatically deducted 39$ as subscriptions with a no-refund policy for subscription pay. So, I directly deleted the account on Coursera. Btw, don't forget to cancel the subscriptions, otherwise they may charge you again.
Very hard to contact and completely unwilling to help solve issues with its very poorly organised subscription system. Some courses are good but some are truly awful and these awful examples make up coursera plus. Save your €51/$59 and go elsewhere.
I was trying to finish my certificate with the last labs. Qwiklabs kept saying I could not do another lab while one was running, nothing else was running. I was almost done with the IT Google Support certificate. In an Ironic instance, I contacted the IT support for Coursera, they blamed it on Qwiklabs, the third party they chose to partner with and took no responsibility, I asked for an extension of only a few hours, but they told me there was nothing they could do even though it was a technical problem on their end. They wanted my money for the subcription continuance. What a joke. It's a money grab for them. From what I looked up online, this was a common occurrence. I would not trust Coursera, look elsewhere.
