My son was bullied at his school. The school wasn't doing anything. He suffered for 4 years. His grades suffered because he didn't want to go.
I looked online and found connections academy. We're doing good now. He's getting good grades. He doesn't have that anxiety and no more bullying. I just wished I had done it sooner. The teachers are awesome and very helpful. I highly recommend them.
This was our first year with LCA and so far it has been a wonderful experience from teachers to other learning coaches definitely recommend and will be returning next year
Thank you for sharing your first‑year experience with us, Olivia. We’re so glad to hear that the support from our teachers has made this a positive journey for your family, and we look forward to welcoming you back next year. ~Alexis
My daughter faced some pretty serious mental health challenges over the past few years. Middle school was really tough for her, and we ended up in a treatment program. Our local public school just couldn't meet our needs — and as someone who strongly believes in public schools, I was really disappointed by how they handled the situation.
Following her therapists' advice (and our own instincts), we started looking into online and homeschooling options mid-year. That's when we found TCAH, and honestly, we've been so happy with it. Any hiccups we've had with enrollment, classes, or credits have mostly come from issues with credit transfers from the local public school. TCAH has been great about helping us figure those out.
Besides the easy enrollment process, the online setup is perfect because it lets my daughter get the rest she needs without the constant overstimulation of a big in-person school. When she's adjusting medication and struggling to stay awake, she can take a nap and then get back to work when she's feeling more focused. She's very self-motivated, so having access to all her classwork online means she can work at her own pace — sometimes getting ahead in some subjects and taking extra time in others.
We plan to stick with TCAH for at least the first year of high school, maybe longer. It's exactly what we need right now, and we feel really lucky to have the option to do public school from home.
Thank you for sharing your family’s experience so openly. We’re so glad to hear that Texas Connections Academy has provided a supportive, flexible environment that meets your daughter’s needs and allows her to learn at her own pace while prioritizing her well‑being. ~Alexis
This school has been a great experience for my child. He has blossomed and now he actually likes school!
Thank you for sharing this with us, Mary. We’re so happy to hear that your child has gained confidence and found joy in learning. ~Alexis
We chose NMCA when the public schools were reopened after the pandemic. The schools reassured us of the distance rule, but when we went to the open house, there was no distancing, the desks were close to one another and we didn't feel right to allow our son back to school. We looked into homeschooling, but that didn't get very far when I remembered a friend of ours whose daughter went to school thru NMCA and we heard how great it was for her and it was not connected to the local public schools. We looked into NMCA and felt that was the right place for our student to begin. We enrolled our student. It was a struggle at first to navigate this platform for schooling, but our Homeroom Teacher and the Teachers were all extremely helpful, patient, and so kind to us. We soon knew our way around the online schooling and our student was enjoying it. We love the flexibility of NMCA. The Teachers are excellent and amazing, they are there for our student when needed without hesitation, they are supportive, they answer our questions, even if they are dumb questions to us, but they do not judge, and they just all wonderful overall. The curriculum is challenging, but so beneficial to our student's learning. There is a lot of reading, but our student is actually learning, so our student doesn't mind that. We love that he doesn't have to deal with bullies in the public school system. He is safe here at home and still gets the socialization he needs outside of our home. Our school district has gone down so much I would not put our student back there. Besides our student enjoys NMCA so much he continues every year since the 6th grade, when we started, to stay on with NMCA. Our student decided that he will be graduating from NMCA. If you are able, I highly recommend NMCA for your student(s) if you are looking for another avenue in learning.
Thank you for sharing your family’s experience with New Mexico Connections Academy. We’re so glad to hear that the flexibility, supportive teachers, and challenging curriculum have helped your student feel safe, confident, and engaged in learning. It means a lot to know NMCA has been a place your family continues to choose year after year. ~Alexis
Choosing SCCAfor my children is one of the best decisions I've made in my life! My only regret is that I wish I'd have found them sooner. It is the best!
Thank you so much for sharing this, Miranda. It truly means a lot to us. We’re honored to be part of your children’s education. ~Alexis
My son was struggling with pears and staff in brick and mortar school. His mental and emotional health was a wreck. It was a struggle to get him to school and when he would get home he was always miserable.
Before the Holiday break I decided to try Connections Academy. Having attempted traditional homeschooling in the past as well as previous enrollment at CA. I was delighted at the enrollment experience as well as the simple transition to CA from brick and mortar. The courses are right at his level. The flexibility is phenomenal as a single working mother. I have 3 to 4 days a week of lessons with him and can pace each lesson with his level of understanding. Some things he is able to work through on his own and others we do together. He is a much happier kiddo and our bond is stronger than ever! I am so thankful for this alternative and plan to enroll my preschooler in another year for Kindergarten.
Thank you for sharing your family’s journey with us, Krystal. We’re so glad to hear that the flexibility and coursework have supported your son’s well‑being and helped bring joy back into learning. We’re honored to be part of your family’s path forward. ~Alexis
We switched to Connections in 2020. My son's grades improved. He is much more responsible, time management skills. It gives flexibility.
All staff is great! Teachers stay very involved. He will graduate next year.
So glad we went with Connections. We tried another online school & it was truly a diaster. Connections is amazing! I tell anyone thinking of online school to go with them!
Thank you for sharing your family’s experience with us, Jen. We’re glad to hear how much your son has grown in responsibility and time management, and that the support from our staff has helped set him up for graduation. ~Alexis
Both of my kids go to Indiana Connections Academy. Have went here for 5 years and love it. The teachers are amazing and really care about their students.
Thank you for sharing your family’s experience with Indiana Connections Academy, Robin. We’re so glad to hear that your children have enjoyed their time with us. ~Alexis
My daughter joined Connections Academy due to health conditions that made her miss school frequently. She was struggling to stay caught up with her work in public school. The structure and flexibility of Connections Academy have been wonderful for her. She is able to do her assigned lessons in her own time, and the LiveLesson schedule leaves space for her appointments. As a parent I have a limited role, which is what I wanted. I'm able to support as needed without holding the whole schooling responsibility. I am considering enrolling my youngest child as well. Public school is not the best fit for everyone, and the virtual program is a great alternative for us.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Anna. We’re glad to hear that the structure and flexibility of our program have supported your daughter’s health needs while allowing her to stay on track academically. We truly appreciate your confidence in our school. ~Alexis
Our daughter has flourished at TCAH. She struggled with the traditional school setting, not being challenged enough. She was bored and frustrated. The choice to move to online school allowed our family the flexibility to get her involved with extracurricular activities that she was passionate about that were not offered in public school. Not only is she achieving more academically, she is exploring interests that are preparing her for her collegiate future.
Thank you for sharing your daughter’s story with us, Cissi. We’re glad to hear that the flexibility of online learning has allowed her to feel challenged academically while also exploring passions that support her long‑term goals. It’s wonderful to know she’s thriving both in and beyond the classroom. ~Alexis
My kid has been with this school going on 3 years. This has been the best experience with a school we've ever had. He can work at his own pace, do the work at 2 AM or 2 PM! We don't have to call the school when he might miss for an appointment or if we just want to go shopping that day. We don't have to deal with bullies, which is amazing! The school has a lot to offer in terms of classes and trips, it's just amazing. I highly recommend.
Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful recommendation, Kylie. We’re glad to hear the flexibility, wide range of offerings, and supportive environment have made such a positive difference for your family, especially allowing your child to learn comfortably and confidently. We truly appreciate your kind words. ~Alexis
This is the perfect school for families who truly want to be involved with their children's education. Most of the teachers have been beyond anything I could have ever imagined. There is so much your child can accomplish through this school system! I encourage you to ask as many questions as possible! If you have an issue, The school gets it done! My child's first year was a tad rocky because of the teacher we had, she was not understanding and very judgmental/ rude. I gave it a shot for this next year, and this year has been amazing! That I enrolled my other children! You will always have one teacher who is just not it, but that's it! As long as you have the energy and patience, you can work as a team with your child. This is such a great system! I believe this school is perfect for our family!
Thank you for sharing such an honest and thoughtful perspective, Ivy. We’re glad to hear that your experience this year has been so positive and that the collaborative approach between families and teachers has made a meaningful difference for your children. ~Alexis
All of the teachers are so nice and caring. If you have a missing assignment, they will tell you to do it and take your time. All of the teachers are very kind and helpful.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback, Lisbeth. We’re happy to hear that our teachers’ kindness, patience, and willingness to support students through their work have made a positive difference for your child. ~Alexis

The Teachers are well experienced, shows a lot patience

My granddaughter has been attending this online school for over four years now. She has some medical issues that often require doctors visits. The program works extremely well with our situation.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Niccola. We’re glad to hear the flexibility of our program has supported your granddaughter’s needs over the years and allowed her to continue learning while managing her health. We truly appreciate your family’s trust in our school. ~Alexis
As a parent of a Dyslexic child LCA has exceeded my expectations. I know virtual school is not for everyone but in our case has fit well with her needs. The teachers go far and beyond so that my child can succeed, a thank you is not enough.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Tricia. We’re honored to support your child’s learning journey. It means so much to hear that our teachers’ dedication and individualized approach have made a positive difference for your family. ~Alexis

When we decided to move our son online from public school Connections Academy was the clear choice. With top class curriculum in Pearson and professional communication through the format my son is thriving and getting the grades to reflect. He has a flexible schedule that complements his sport training. Couldn't be happier. Live lessons, professional communication, flexible completion times for school work and a caring staff = success.
We’re so happy to hear that our school has been such a strong fit for your family, Amanda. It’s great to know the curriculum, LiveLesson sessions, and supportive communication have helped your son succeed academically while maintaining flexibility for his athletic goals. Thank you for sharing your experience and trust in our team. ~Alexis
My daughter was enrolled with Washington Connections Academy as a Junior in High School. She was given a mandatory class for her SPED math and given consumer math, with little instruction of how to complete any of the assignments. She had mandatory classes to attend for other subjects to but she was just in an online meeting interacting with other students. Assignments were disjointed and did not make sense. As a parent, I had a difficult time seeing what she was supposed to be doing or what she had turned in, which left me just approving assignments for submission without being able to see what the assignment was or what she had completed. She was then withdrawn with NO notice. She went to log into the portal to complete school work and it stated her email did not exist. I logged into the parent portal and have just a blank screen. The only information I received is that her variance was revoked as of August, she has been enrolled since the first day of school How can that be? I am unclear if it was the local school district, connections, who or what or why. I have no idea how to return the computer that was sent, no access to the classes she was attending to enroll her in another school, and zero information about anything. I emailed support, and they instructed me to reach out to my local school for information. I find this both repulsive and frustrating as a parent. I had to take a day off from work to register her and guess which classes to enroll her in at the local high school. I expected more professionalism than I received. I DO NOT recommend it to anyone.
Hi Tawnda, We’re sorry for your experience, as this isn’t the standard we aim to provide. Your feedback about class guidance, portal access, and communication is heard and will be forwarded to our administrators. Thank you for sharing this, and we wish your daughter the very best moving forward. ~Alexis
Answer: Work at your own pace is the biggest lie out there. Supplies are usually quick to arrive though.
Answer: That is a very good question Dee. We were drawn in with that promise as well. They use exampmes of child athletes and child actors (at least they did when we were going through their website looking for schooling options) as examples of how flexible their program is but we found it to be a very different experience.
Answer: Do not put your child in this program i hate it i switched to connexus i could get more time in the gym and work out i used to spend five hours in the gym in normal school but now im only limited to one hour a day because i have so much work.the teachers never respond and its horrible they dont help me and when im at gym they call then i cant i pick up so they call my parents who are at work and will get in trouble if on there phones. I hate tis school and everyone in it and your kids will to so DO NOT DO IT! 1111
Answer: Attendance is more important to the school keeping it's Charter, than making sure a student is truly on track academically. The School has no communication skills, which is why it probably attracts lazy teachers.
Answer: I find that people take the time to vent about bad experiences rather than take the time to write reviews for good experiences. If things are working, why scour the internet for reviews. Every kiddo/parent will have a different experience with Connections Academy. Like any school program, it's not going to be right for everyone, not everyone will like a teacher, or administration or class... It's a rigorous school, not a homeschool program with lots of flexibility and curriculum that can be changed. It's working for my 7th grader, but it is hard and we wouldn't be enrolled if he didn't have me to sit by him 80% of the time. Otherwise he's getting an excellent education in Oregon and we love the teachers.
Answer: Yes, you can do you your at any time. I start at 5:00am and finish at 11:00am.
Answer: Maybe once a month. The student might get a phone call from his or her homeroom teacher on a monthly basis. Other than that, unless you or the student contact the teacher individually, then the interaction is done as a whole in the Live Lesson rooms. And so much outside stuff goes on during Live Lessons, the students do not get a lot out of them.
Answer: Hi Tina, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per day), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. Outside of the LiveLesson sessions, work is done independently, and students can typically complete their schoolwork any time of the day, any day of the week. ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Malorie, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per week), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. In general, there is no set time to log in outside of the LiveLesson sessions, so students can typically work any time of the day, any day of the week. For information specific to the school(s) in your state, please email us at [email protected]. Thanks! ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Monique, Many students with special needs thrive in online school. Can you please email us at [email protected] so we can connect you with the Special Education team in your state and also provide you with additional eligibility information about the school(s) in your state? Thank you! ~Alexis
