ClassPass Reviews Summary

ClassPass has garnered significant criticism for its customer service and billing practices, with many users expressing frustration over misleading promotions, billing errors, and a lack of responsive support. Customers frequently report issues with inaccurate availability information, poor communication, and difficulties in resolving disputes. While some users appreciate the flexibility of accessing various fitness classes, the overall sentiment leans negative, highlighting a perception of the company as untrustworthy and profit-driven. We cancelled our studio membership over 2.5 years ago. We STILL have people coming (wrong address since we moved) or calling in to say they have a reservation with us through ClassPass. These poor people are signing up for classes that don't even exist on our schedule anymore and pulling up to a vacant store front since we relocated 18 months ago. Despite dozens of requests over the years, ClassPass has failed to remove our studio / schedule from their portal. It's honestly shocking how poor the customer service is. It's also shady as poop that they are advertising businesses that no longer participate in their program. Run away. Do NOT get involved with ClassPass.

ClassPass created a profile of my business, a medical clinic, and began allowing people to book appts WITHOUT ME KNOWING! I had never even heard of ClassPass until someone called confirming they had an appt with me? I was stunned- they copied info from my website and began offering my services?! This company needs to be looked at from a legal standpoint, I don't know how they're still operating.

Classpass fraudulently charged my card despite offering a 1-month "pause" (with the credits rolled over) on the account due to the Coronavirus, which seemed like a nice thing to do, but they instead charged me as normal. The "pause" option is the shadiest thing I have ever seen from a company, as it was set so that customers didnt cancel and they could charge you. The option effectively was useless as it didnt stop them from charging and they wont rollover credits even though it is impossible to take classes. I highly recommend everyone to never try their trial or use them now or in the future.

DO NOT BELIEVE ANY OFFER CLASSPASS HAS. TRIAL = AUTOCHARGE. PAUSE = AUTOCHARGE. CORONAVIRUS IS JUST ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO STEAL MONEY, NEVER FORGET WHAT THEY DID BY EXPLOITING MEMBERS DURING THIS CRISIS! EVERYONE KEEP RECORDS OF WHAT THEY DID, BECAUSE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS COMING!

This is a review of only the referral program. Give $40, get $40 in the Washington DC area. It costs $49 for the cheapest package, which is 27 credits. So, if I refer someone, they pay $9 to get 27 credits. Alternatively, they can get either two weeks or one month (depending on promotion), which always gives 35 credits for free. This makes absolutely no sense! A new user could always get a better deal doing the free trial directly with Classpass! I feel ridiculous, and unethical, offering a friend my referral code knowing they're getting much less value this way. I have multiple people I've introducted Classpass too, without using my referral code and cheating them out of credits, and should be rewarded for bringing Classpass business! I've questioned chat representatives on the website several times and am told that a new user could get $40 off a larger plan. Who cares!? Everyone is going to do a free trial of some sort first before committing to a larger plan. Even if they wanted a big plan, who wouldn't want to get 35 credits for free initially? Terrible model and needs to be modified. I suggest that the referral program be changed to "Give 40 (credits), Get 40 (dollars)". This is a fair incentive for both parties to join or promote Classpass.

CP hardly pays anything to studios as is and once it has enough studios under its umbrella in any certain area, it pushes the payouts even lower... No single studio can exit without simply forwarding its traffic to its competitor next door so everyone stays put while the industry gets destroyed. Studios that provide the actual service can't pay rents and afford top instructors if the money goes to e-commerce genius and not the actual studios with the cost of providing the TRUE product to you. Consumers, support the local studios and not the internet platform that has no interests othere than its own!

SCAMMED OUT OF £65.00
February 9, 2020

Same as other people's complaints. Scammed out of £65.00 this month after cancelling my free subscription in good Time. 3 months later I've been charged for something I had no idea about or why? Being told I can't be refunded. Disgusting company with terrible ethics scamming people out of their money.

I had done a free trial with class pass over a year ago. The other day I was charged $79. I never received an email about this charge from them. I contacted them to let them know they had charged me and asked the refund my card. They said that I signed up and that is why I was charged. I never signed up for this and if I had why did I not receive any email about this either? They are refusing to refund me the money even though I never touched the account. I will have to dispute the charge with my credit card company now. Worthless company!

Classpass does not communicate clearly the cancellation and no show policies to new users. They want to make money out of new user who are unfamiliar with these shady policies. They show no honor or respect to new users who are tricked by their non-transparent services. They do not seem to want to build long-term relationships with their users.

Beware! It's a scam!
January 31, 2020

I tried to cancel my free trial. You HAVE TO live chat them, and they make it impossible to do so. I had to chat them TWICE to get it sorted. They then charged me a month later! When I contacted them they blamed ME. "I'm sorry you're confused"? I had to explain I ALREADY CANCELLED. Then all of a sudden "oh, oopsies! We accidentally renewed it." So scammy, so dodgy... enough to make you sick...

DO NOT USE IT
January 21, 2020

I signed up for a free month but after 2 weeks they charged me 49$. When I tried to talk to them they left chat! One person told I had only 1 week free, other 2 weeks free. Each time different information. Now they don't respond to my emails after sent them confirmation of free month! Poor service. Please do not use it in Australia.

A No is No. Told them I'd cancel my "membership" after a trial, and instead of cancelling the subscription, they bump it up to premium. And they have been charging me for the past 6 months. Had to follow up with a new cancellation plus a follow up email.

Payal Kadakia (CEO of ClassPass) I know you are a startup founder, and you are trained to not take "No" for an answer. But a "No" is a "No". Try to do your job every now and then, and try not be a blood sucking scam company, who live off clients precious money by stealing their money.

I joined them for a free trial back in August and proceed to cancel the free trial half way through because I decided I would not use the services but would join my local gym instead. I did not book a single class during that time. I specifically remember cancelling the free trial because I was offered some credits to stay and I declined the offer. Following my cancellation, I began receiving emails about joining offers, further alluding me to believe I had cancelled my trial; why else would I be contacted about joining offers if I was already a member? I even received an email as recent as November with an offer to join as a member.

This morning I discovered that they have actually been charging my account £65 per month since August (that amounts to £325 in total they have taken from my account) when I cancelled my free trial. While I should have been more vigilant and checked my account at an earlier date, they should NOT have been charging my account when to my knowledge, I had already cancelled my trial. They can see from my account that I have not used the company or services once during this time. Why would I sign up for something that I was not intending to use? It does not make sense on my part.

I feel I have been completely scammed and mislead into believing I had cancelled my account with all the joining emails they'd been sending me, while deducting money from my account without my knowledge or consent. I am taking legal action against them if they refuse to refund me.

Was invited as a guest and could not make class due to a family emergency. Class Pass tried to hit me with a $20 missed class fee because they don't give you ANY flexibility on class cancellation the day of. LIFE HAPPENS PEOPLE.

I'll never use them.

I had the most awful experience! Locked into 3 months, terrible response time, "system glitch" opened spaces in classes that were already full, blamed me for issues, lost money on every booking AND their clients cancel last minute constantly! Don't use them!

They are stealing money
December 11, 2019

They are stealing your money. In the App nothing says that if you missed a class they will charge you $20 for it plus keep the credits, the normal will be for them to keep the credit period. No notification o the app nor and email for the $20 they billed you for it, I find out because of my credit card statement. (I'm Miami Florida)

The worst is that the shows gyms on the app, that actually had classes available and after the trial, surprise surprise they are no longer available. Also if yo visit the same venue more than 3 times in a cycle, they will charge you more for the 4 or more visits.

A scam designed to trap new users. I signed up and before I was even done my free trial they were charging me. Not only that, but if you do not cancel in time (which they make really hard) they will automatically charge you for the whopping $75 account when a normal account is only $15.

Rip Off
December 9, 2019

This company is a major scam, cannot cancel membership and will just close my credit card down if they cannot cancel. The site is a joke. Their platform if you can even call keeps you in a loop never allowing you to get to the cancellation page. There is no way to contact them I plan to report this company to the BBB.

Scam
December 8, 2019

Sign up for free trial, but you get caught in a scam, you are actually signing for an auto renewal, they make it very hard to cancel, the app is not user friendly, businesses do not want to work with them anymore, so you get very limited choices, and also you get fees left and right, unless you took time to read the small print... do not get caught in signing up

BEWARE!
December 7, 2019

BEWARE! It was a great concept but terrible execution. This company is not user friendly. It just seems to want to squeeze money out of customers at any given time and I've felt more frustrated by the app than finding it useful. The rules are not clearly defined at the beginning of use like the rule about "no shows" getting charged 20$ and late cancellations 15$!. It makes no sense to buy credits and then get charged more money when you don't make a class instead of just forfeiting your credits. People have kids and lives... things happen. Wasting their money and time is not very effective. Terrible customer service and Terrible company ethic.

But with any great idea... just like Uber and Lyft... someone will come alone with a BETTER version of this kind of company and I will gladly sign up when it becomes available. For now I'll go back to just having one gym membership that gets the job done.
