The site has useful forums, like the state/regional information. The politics forum is a right wing, reactionary troll factory, and if you're not a Trump bootlicker, your comments are likely to be deleted and any threads you start will probably be shut down. Refer to Trump supporters as a cult? You'll be banned. It's almost as if the reddit forum "the_donald", which has been shut down on the reddit site, has set up shop on City Data. Numerous posts daily from regular Trump worshipers posting disinformation from Breitbart, Daily Caller, and InfoWars are allowed to stand.

If you're a right wing Trumper than this is the place for you. If you think liberals, immigrants, Muslims, and Black people are to blame for all of your woes, this welcome to City Data Forum. Almost every post becomes some sort of rant against the horrors committed by liberals/democrats. A constant whine fest about how taxes are ruining their cities and how liberals have destroyed their beloved neighborhoods and how they can't wait to move to the sticks.

Blah blah blah. I wish they would just shut up and finally move, preferably to an area that has no internet access.

UPDATE 5/21/21: If you want info on local communities, you can get good input on those sub-forums. However, many of the other sub-forums are pretty weird. Most members identify as Boomers and conservatives, but few are Christian. The Christianity sub-forum has mostly liberal Christians or atheists on there who poke fun at the 2 or 3 conservative Christians who post sometimes there. The Politics section, meanwhile -- which is MUCH larger -- is generally far-right, but curiously almost completely secular. Most are either pro-abortion or pro-sterilization; they don't want liberal children to be born, or at least don't want liberals to be able to produce children. I didn't know such a large number of people existed in the US, but they sure do gravitate toward CityData's politics forum. I've posted on the forum on and off for a few years, but I think I'm done with such a crowd.

If I could give this site a negative rating I would. Do not venture into the politics forum unless you are a rabid Trump supporter or ibginnie will make your life a living hell. I received a 90 day infraction for asking a Trump supporter to back up his claims with facts. I was deemed "rude" and put in the corner for three months as a result. Meanwhile, the posts calling me a "libtard" and $#*!ed for being a Democrat are still up on the site and that poster starts 5 to 10 threads a day using such derogatory language against anyone who disagrees with Trump without any fear of reprisal. It's too bad, because there are some intelligent people on that forum who are looking for good political discussion, but that is not allowed by ibginnie. Only Trump sycophants are allowed to speak freely there. CD's P&OC has become ibginnie's personal cesspool.

There are a lot of regional sites for US states, these can be pretty good. Automotive section is also decent. There is also a politics forum, which can be pretty rough, as you might imagine. That's okay, but the moderation, at least the moderation by Ibginnie, is terribly biased, and is unprofessional. They are obviously a rabid conservative. They let all kinds of ugly misbehavior by conservatives go unchecked, but if you set one foot over the line with a liberal or anti-Trump view, you get an angry, snarling private message from moderator Ibginnie and you get your account suspended. That's one quiet, stealthy way of making sure that Trump looks good I guess, but they don't bill themselves as a bastion and defender of MAGA, they describe themselves as just a friendly, general purpose site. Definitely NOT fair and unbiased - rabid, Trump-defending dragons dwell here as moderators.

Liberal moderators in the local forums will edit or delete posts of conservative posters, marking them as trolling or bickering, when the posts are in their own defense.

Liberal posters are allowed to attack, threaten, & harass conservative posters without consequence and these posts are never edited or removed. Some of the same posters have been doing this for years to the point that it might even be considered a criminal issue.

Reporting posts that violate the rules typically results in a mod like ibginnie entering the thread and editing or deleting all of your posts, marking them as trolling, while leaving the posts you complained about entirely intact.

There is an obvious pattern of abuse from certain posters who are clearly signing up NUMEROUS (I mean 20+) sock accounts they use to harass posters they don't like or who they disagree with.

Many of the posters don't even reside in the local area and never have, but stop by to berate other posters, spew complete nonsense, or to politically troll conservatives.

I find the comments surprising that some label this an alt-right or storefront op when the experience I've had with the forum is the exact opposite. Conservative posters are routinely silenced by moderators.

Finally a place that lets red blooded Americans speak their mines. Many sites cater to liberals or democrats. This forum appeals to real Americans not the Obama crowd. Trump supporting Americans can freely express their politically incorrect views without having to worry about offending sensitive snowflakes. Information is accurate and honest. No filter, just straight talk and none of that mainstream liberal garbage you see on other social media places. I love it. God bless city data forum and America.

I posted the Borowitz report on this site in the awful political forum, and not only did they pull the copy, and pasted article, they said it needed a link, or it was copy right infringement, and then Yahoo sent me a TOS which has to be attached to CDF.
Site is garbage and I wouldn't go near it ever again. And that's after a couple thousand posts. The site is littered with not only right wing goofballs, but the stupidest people you could conjure up. Only a site for the mentally challenged, and people trying to dispel right wing dogma.
Is the useful city data worth it? Zero stars!

I wish I can give this site a zero star, but 1 is the lowest it can go. Long story short extreme right wing viewpoints gets posted here. If you attempt to post a counterargument, you will be banned pretty quickly.

There was this thread in the Florida Section of the Forum that this guy only wants to move his family to a Pro-Trump area. He is also pretty big on making sure that he raise his children under his worldview and he must not be in a liberal area. His viewpoints are so what I call borderline Alt-Right that I made a post questioning his parenting style, saying it is better to have his kids in a mixed environment where their viewpoints are questioned. I also stated that why he must be big on areas that must be Trump only. I was quickly banned with the reason as troll after having my account for months.

This review have some posts from this guy. He was pretty anti-vaccines and possible he is with the Alt-Right or an Extreme Trump fan that is take it or leave it my way or the highway. This is the type of posts you will find on City-Data. The mods are quick to ban if you say something negative about their Right-Wing/Pro-Trump viewpoint. Avoid at all cost.

Did you ever see the movie Napoleon Dynamite? It's a movie about an awkward teenager who hangs out with a bunch of misfits. Well picture that but with racists, that's City Data Forum. In the movie Napoleon Dynamite, the characters are odd eccentrics but well meaning and likable. The posters and moderators on city data however don't have any of those redeeming qualities. These are the crazy racist neighbors or co-workers that nobody talks too. The members aren't just your run of the mill racists like your uncle, no, these are the basement dwelling ones that consider Fox news too mainstream or the NRA too soft. Just thinking about these band of miscreants makes me sick. I left the forum recently and never intend to look back. I hope I can save you the time and energy from posting on that time waster.

These reviews are totally fabricated, obviously made by abusers, bullies and trolls. City-Data is an informative site and also has a very large forum where you can discuss practically anything. I've been a member for many years since almost it's inception. Yes I have been chastised and even banned one time but that was on me. I was behaving badly. Stop being a bunch of whiney babies and enjoy the site for what it is, informative and social. It's what you make it, I just avoid trolls and subject matters that get heated, it's very enjoyable that way. It's not right wing, racist or anything like that, they just have certain rules to be followed and if they aren't you'll receive warnings and/or infractions. If you behave yourself there's not a damn problem.

I was banned from this site twice for having an opinion. I was terrorized and bullied on both of my accounts by MODs because apparently being a moderator means constantly suspending, giving out infractions and eventually banning people who don't agree with you.

If any of the OG posters come for you they can label you a troll and the MODs will follow suit and ban you.

Several of my threads or posts were deleted because they didn't agree with what I was saying. I was given an infraction for posting MY OWN pictures and even after being informed they still left the infraction and then proceeded to suspend me.

I was eventually banned for challenging a poster who said slavery was good for black people. Damn near everyone I started off posting with [2006 join date] were banned by the time I was banned 4 years ago.

The site is racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, promotes pedophilia and more.

If you're into all these things, you'll love it there.

I asked a simple question. Any success with dating apps/sites & which ones. I was a bit fed up with my attempts - where I live welfare & addiction is rampant so online seemed a better bet - and my question was a blunt. As I had found, after all, on the dating sites is the men who approached were predominantly unsavory. As I put on this forum, most of the men came across as too cheap to go to a bar & try lame pickup lines or for that matter just hire a prostitute (the amount of men on one app [supposedly a good one, eharomny] initially asking to meet up & "chat" instead of asking questions to build rapport first was downright offensive and/or online creeper sort if you want honesty).

Get this. That post was deleted. I've been on this forum on & off for a while and seen all sorts of stupid and/or offensive posts. At best they are closed. I've yet to see one deleted, even a post that was quite obviously by some mental case was simply closed. So I take it the site owner or one of the moderators - or the entire lot on this forum - are of the same deadbeat loser creepier quality as the initial contacts on the dating apps I found so offputting. Given the dismal relationship advise most likely.
