CheapOair Reviews Summary

The company has established a strong reputation for its user-friendly platform and competitive pricing, with many customers praising the efficiency of the booking process and the helpfulness of customer service representatives. However, some concerns have been raised regarding communication issues, particularly related to flight changes and refunds, leading to frustration among users. While the majority of feedback highlights a positive experience, instances of delayed support and difficulties in correcting booking errors suggest areas for improvement. Overall, the company is viewed as a reliable option for budget-conscious travelers, yet it must enhance its customer service responsiveness.

Will NEVER use Again
September 1, 2019

I have had several issues buying from ChapoAir. The latest was purchasing "insurance", a hurricane headed towards my destination and being told the insurance only covered if the Airline cancels the flight! Why did I purchase insurance. I am an idiot. There is a reason these flights are less expensive. From now on I will go through reputable bookings.

While the booking experience was certainly a trying learning experience with the company, the company did contact yesterday to confirm they will reimburse the one night hotel stay as they originally offered that we both agreed to during my booking a couple of months ago.

So even though I haven't officially received confirmation of the credit reimbursement on my card as yet (they advised it will take up to two weeks to receive it), I do give them credit and some kudos for hopefully sticking to their word on the reimbursement and their customer service staff was actually quite prompt and pleasant to deal with in this situation.

A lesson well learned!
June 21, 2019
Previous review

Just spent pretty well the whole day with several of their customer service reps from where-ever ( I think Philippines, India) and could barely understand one of them whose English was so bad, you had ask him twice what he said.
The situation was I had booked a one way flight from Canada thinking I could save some coins by using one of these smaller aggregate sites for savings as suggested by a friend who had used this site but obviously, it didn't turn out well for me. Because I had a booked a flight at 11:00 pm and thinking a 24 hour cancellation policy was in effect, i could cancel this flight in the morning if needed but I woke up and realized I had booked the wrong flight which turned out to be over 29 hours in duration (holy smokes) instead another flight that was half that time. So my bad, called them to cancel the flight in the morning and they offered to cancel the flight for $100 which I then informed of the 24 hour cancellation policy but they informed that only applied to US citizens so I was SOL, then I complained and was forwarded to another agent who suggested they can book me on a different more expensive flight and charge me a cancellation charge and the difference in flight costs. So here on the second turn, the offer was the cancellation charge and the up-sell charge which would have amounted to a cost of several hundred dollars more which I declined, finally on the third attempt, they forwarded to me to another agent who as I noted I could barely understand (but seemed like a nice enough chap) who said he could cancel the flight but had to charge me the trip cancellation policy and refund me my initial payment which I agreed. But after all my calls and time, I get a final call from this last agent who tells me he can't cancel the flight because its nonrefundable and that he would refund my policy payment that I agreed to and that I was SOL again.
What a bloody nightmare of an experience! I learned a valuable (terrible) lesson here that when its cheaper, it most often means crappy service and warn others to just book the flights from the airlines instead.

Update: Just received a call from customer service where they apologized for the experience, however, couldn't provide a refund but offered as a partial compensation to pay for a hotel stay for the long overnight layover which was accepted (still remains to be seen if they fulfill this compensation) but still an ordeal.

So disappointed!
August 29, 2019

The booking process to book the flight was absolutely easy and very pleasant within the 24 hours where it says you can call if you need any help to make changes with the time or if you have any issues it would be for free with certain issues. I wanted to change the time on my flight and arrive earlier it was not even 24 hours later when I called them back. They charged me $200 so I paid it and understood what they said. Well now here's the 2 mistakes that happened, originally my boyfriend paid the ticket so his card is on file so when I was paying the $200 switching fee I said please do not charge my boyfriends card here's my debit card & read it to them, well customer service comes back to me and says oh my gosh we have a problem I accidentally submitted it to your boyfriends card the card on file. I don't believe this I think he just wasn't allowed to charge a new card and he purposely charged my boyfriends card, (maybe not) but even so he made the mistake and I was not permitted to charge my boyfriends card, I was not authorized, so I hang up the phone I get my flight details they email to my boyfriend email come on I'm the 1 flying I told them email it to me which they originally did the first time so then a few days later we noticed it's not the proper time it's going to get me to the concert late so I call back 8 times now even talk to supervisors a few times they want another $200 switching fee and I have to buy a new ticket which would bring it up to another $430 I don't have it so now I'm going to miss my trip and miss a concert and my bf paid over $500 plus switching fee because after Vegas I'm going off to Arizona for a family visit. I paid $300 to meet and greet the artist before the concert. Now what do I do were out a lot of money and a beautiful plan trip coming up in September no family no concert! You mean to tell me they can not just put me on an earlier flight and have a heart? This is disgusting when I already paid a $200 switching fee and they made a mistake and charged my boyfriends card and sent the email with the flight details to the wrong person's email address. I'm going to put this review on every website to help others learn what they're doing. I've now read awful reviews on many other websites. Never again! I will book right through the airline.

Don't purchase tickets
September 27, 2019

I bought a ticket 6 months in advance the type of ticket virgin Atlantic economy classic includes one piece of luggage. At the airport leaving and returning I was told the ticket was economy light I had to pay for luggage. I am now given the run around and bogus explanation. They are scamming and selling tickets which they don't have. Don't purchase from them.

My tickets were finally refunded after a week of contacts and conversation with Customer Service

My Husband and I purchased a ticket from Georgia to Moscow, which was cancelled due to countries issues. We got the information and we call the Cheapon air. They informed they could do nothing about it and that they would do a refund. We purchased another ticket due to the cancellation and information given. Some days later we got an email that our flight cancelled was re-arranged to other company. We called back and informed that we we had already purchased othet ticket because we were told we would get a refund.
They told us they will work with the company to get us the refund. It's been 5 days and there is no answer from cheaponair. We need the refund of our first cancelled ticket. Our flight leaves in 2 days and when we call Cheapoair they hang up or they say that no refund was requested.

Cheap0air Criminals
August 27, 2019

CheapOair. They would not give me back the money. They purchased a ticket without my approval and when I asked for the return of my money they treated it as a refund and said we do not refund tickets we can give you 70.00 off the 250.00 they took from me. I notified the bank they received information from Cheapoair as if it was a return and sent their policy to the bank they did not refund the money. I did not buy this ticket and was charged for it anyway. Cheapoair violated the law broke several more Federal laws, reached over borders and countries stole my money and my bank Suntrust assisted them in this crime.

Customerservice C. Wrote: -------------------------
Sam, if you didn't provide the credit card when you were booking online, than how did we get the credit card number for the reservation?

I attempted to buy a ticket on the website. Something it would not work. So I headed to another site. My phone kept ringing over and over many different calls. So I answered. A person asked if I wanted, to get the ticket over the phone I said sure. Again it did not work. I was frustrated I said too for get bought it. The person asked many questions personal questions I expressed I do not feel comfortable giving such information and to forget bought the ticket. The individual started to get upset even aggressive. I hung up. 45 min Later a ticket was purchased without my consent Cheap0air had my information from the Website and from the phone call.

When I purchased my tickets 4 months prior to my vacation, I purchased 1 checked bag for each of the passengers in my party (4), or so I thought. The checked baggage amount was listed under my booking confirmation details and included in my "total charges". When we arrived to the airport to depart on our vacation we got hassle from the airline stating that we never purchased our baggage. Luckily, I had a copy of my booking confirmation details where it showed checked baggage charges. The airline then waived the amount because of my paper. On our return home, we got hassle from the airline again. Although, this time they would not honor my paper confirmation and said the only way to board our flight was to buy our bags (again). They stated their system showed that we paid $0. Due to the arguing and hassle of having to wait in line to purchase our bags, we almost missed 2 flights. My 70 year old father, who has health issues, was forced to run through two airports in order to keep up with us to not miss our flights. Since I have been home, I have gone through hell and back with the customer service of Cheapoair. They informed me that when I thought I purchased our bags at the time I made my vacation reservations, the purchase never went through and was still pending. Their supervisors and associates don't seem to care about their negligent mistake. They have given me so much push back on my refunds. I have never dealt with a company with this much resistance and unwillingness to right their wrong. The latest supervisor also promised to call me back this morning to discuss options and never did. This company is not committed to their customers or their customer service.

Money suckers
August 12, 2019

These Cheapoair customer service are using fake names to attend the calls. I'll tell my story with cheapoair call center people. I called these guys to book 2 tickets and I was returning with my wife which is one way for her, they did it on call and mentioned the total fair of the Ticket and didn't mention anything other than that. Actual fair of a ticket on their website was $973.89 for me and for my wife it was $719.63 and they charged $1175. 89 and $921.63. They said that the reason for increase in ticket price was due to seating arrangements in flight together, hence I agreed and paid the total amount on call. When I saw the credit card bill on app, it was showing $973.89 for Emirates and $202 for cheapOir people. This confirmed they charged $404 just for booking and I called them immediately to cancel the Tickets.

Oh! My God this is the most interesting part.
Me: Did you charge $404 just for booking service and didn't mention on call about the booking service fee.
Cheap Employee: Sir, you are calling us just because you saw the Booking Service fee in the bill. If not you would have not called us right.
Me: Yes, if your associate would have told me about Booking Service fee on call it self. I would have denied right away.
Cheap Employee(Aggressively): Sir, while booking you have accepted to pay the full amount.
Me: Yes, but no one told me about Booking Service fee and $202 just for booking charges is too much.

I quote this is the most interesting line I ever heard in my life.

Cheap Employee: "Sir, If you don't pay our booking charges, how will we run our business".
Me: I have total right to cancel my tickets within 24 hours, so please do it.

Call Ended without a next word, later I called 5 times to make cancellation. R. I. P CheapOair Services, your business definitely will go down soon.

Scam. Period!
August 12, 2019

Cheapoair is a scam organization. This is why: you book a flight and sure enough you receive a booking confirmation... flight booked and paid for correct? WRONG! What these scam artists do is that they authorize your purchase through your credit card company but they don't give an amount to charge for. Soooo, you then look at your email if you have confirmation for the flight... nope. Nothing receieved. So then you call Cheapoair and ask them what happened. They nicely tell you that your credit card company has not authorized the purchase. NOT true. The bank wanted to approve but no amount was given by Cheapoair to charge. Soo, the nice operator from the Philippe's tells you to hold a moment. Then he comes back to you all cheerful that he can take care of things and correct the situation right there and then... but... oops, the fare has now changed to almost double... how many people are ripped of by this criminal organistation each year... who knows. But surely they must make millions with this scam...

Awful
August 11, 2019

We had booked a flight and we wanted to make a change with some details but during that process we received a call from this company so we decided to make the change with them. The guy we talked to made changes to our flight that ended up changing the cost of the flight too 800 dollars to a 1000 dollars without us even knowing. We have been on the phone for over 2 hours trying to see if we could fix the problem and it doesn't help that the people we talk to from the company has an accent that makes their English not understandable or they speak so low that you cant hear them and if you ask them to speak louder they sound the same. Now they want to charge us a refund fee of 50 dollars for a mistake they made. As I write this review I am still on the phone trying to sort this out listening to the waiting music.

Had seating issues.
August 11, 2019

We were making a trip from Austin, to Memphis, to Jacksonville then back to Austin. We had paid for seats on every flight so we could sit together. Our flight to Memphis had a layover in Dallas so it was to flights. We also rented a car/hotel through Cheap-o-air in Memphis. We checked in for the first flight in Austin and our seating was incorrect. We had our 10 year old grandson with us so it was important. This flight my wife and I were in a different row than my grandson the flight attendant was able to move my wife to a seat next to my grandson. The second plane from Dallas to Memphis My wife was in the same row but had a stranger in the middle and I was 1 row back. When we arrived in Memphis we went to pick up the rental car should have been a total of $81 and change. The rental car company charged us $133.34 when asked they told us to check with whom we booked the reservation this was the normal rate. The rest of the trip went as planned and paid for. After countless hours and phone call American airline supposedly stated we had the seating we paid for. I explained to the Cheap-o-air rep that she understood she insinuating me to be a liar. She explained that she wasn't. At this point I didn't see any reason to continue the call. I told the rep that I would not be using Cheap-o-air again, it was not worth the money to just keep arguing over and over. Take away from this don't use Cheap-o-air because it isn't cheap. Was refused money I was charged for a service I didn't get. Also the fact that they're own reviewing system looks this bad should tell you something.

"update"
After countless hours on the phone. I am revising my rating to three stars Cheapo-o air did get my money returned. However it did take writing a bad review to get it done. I am on the fence as to weather or not I will use them again. But in the end they did make it right!

You only buy ticket from them if you are 100% certain you do not chnage your travel plan at all no matter what. That saves you 10 or 20 dollars vs book direct from airlines. If you change they goona piles fees after fees to a point you might as well just buy a new ticket yourself.

I booked my wife's vacation leaving august 4th returning on the 10th. I went to my email this evening and didn't see any email from frontier or cheap air. Spoke with frontier and they said cheapo booked my flight for august7th. Called cheapo and they said because I didn't cancel within the 1st 24 hours it was non refundable. Its a real scam they have going. Frontier airliners said they couldn't send me a confirmation because cheap air didn't provide them with a email address. As a matter a fact the only booking site they said that doesn't provide email address. We'll cheap air is a scam website. Stay away

A RIP OFF!
August 5, 2019

I swear to God, This is the last time i will use the "help" of this rip off website. They know how to suck your money out of your bank. They are charging me hundreds of euros to change my flight and then when i ask to cancel my flight they wouldn't even give me a small percentage of what I have paid. BOOK YOUR FLIGHTS ON LASTMINUTE.COM! I found cheaper flights (no joke more than a 300 euro difference to the same destination on the same dates). I would NEVER recommend cheapoair to anyone. And they have a great way of testing your patience on the phone since they can keep you hanging for hours.
