I've read many complaints against this company on several websites. If enough people file complaints with the DOT, they WILL take action against this CheapOair/OneTravel/Fareportal, Inc. FRAUD.

China Southern Airlines refunded my money. But they gave it to CHEAPOAIR because CHEAPOair took my money and used their account to pay for the ticket.

But they HAVE TO follow DOT rules and regulation if we press them to. If you want your money back file a complaint! Otherwise beware these thieves.
Wait time is horrible because anyone comes to the phone, over 40 mins. I received an email about changes to my flight with the explanation, my flight has been changed twice so far. Same booking, this is my first time booking through Cheapoair and will be my last time, customer service representative sounded so annoyed when I was trying to figure out what's going on with my booking. The representative did not want to help me, I was told to call my airlines.
Also Cheapoair sends spam emails all day, it's annoying. I get tons of emails from them about nonsense but yet no one csn help me when I need help. Also the customer service number that's listed in the emails they send out does not work, once you call that number an automated system comes on and gives you another to call.
I bought 4 over Seas ticket for my family to come here they cancelled the flight and never refunded me my money back no body i know will ever fly with them
No rebooking our trip, in the foreseeable future, due to travel ban from US into certain countries. We had booked a one way flight from Bonaire to Aruba, to extend our island trip, but of course it was cancelled. I contacted Winair and they said Cheapoair should refund us our money instead of offering credit, since the airline themselves cancelled all US flights. Still waiting... one positive outcome from this COVID is how customer service or the lack of it, is exposed. The magnitude of what's going on in our world is crazy, but when you spend good money w/a company and have previously, good service is expected, especially in the circumstances we're all facing. So, if we can't rebook the entire trip how we originally had it booked, we'll lose almost $700. By January, 2021 for a "puddle-jumper" flight that we wouldn't be in need of normally... No more Cheapoair!
The airways cancelled the tickets and cheap o air is not trying to get the refund, I had to stay in afghanistan for 5 monthes with no job and they didn't give me an other ticket or my money back. I call them almost every day and they don't wanna talk. They tell me they are gonna put me on hold to get the supervisors but, after an hour being on hold they hang up the phone. I made my initial booking and was immediately contacted by two different agents wanting to upsell me asking for more money. They called me back twice and were very pushy! The last agent insisted that he was trying to help me. NOT THE CASE. Because of coronavirus I had to cancel my trip. When they are trying to get your money they will answer the phone and even call you. But when I tried to call back to get my trip cancelled within the 24 hours I was on hold for 4 hours straight and then hung up on. The cancellation fees were extreme. DO NO USE.
Worst customer service experience of my life. My trip was cancelled by the airline, however Cheapoair did nothing for me, even after I paid the additional $70.00 (US) to have them negotiate for me with the airline. This entire ordeal has been a nightmare; thanks to Cheapoair.
Cheapo gives you the runaround every time. They were unavailable during the first two months of the pandemic. When I requested a refund for an unused portion of a ticket, they foisted me off to the airlines since "they control your ticket." For obvious reasons the airlines don't want to deal with people how purchase online tickets from consolidators like Cheapo Air. My belief is I bought the tickets from Cheapo and they should refund the money..
Cheapoair has refunded my money in my credit card while I submitted Payment via my checking Account
and when I called to explain I was told refund was done by the Airline and they couldn't do anything about it. Yes both my debit and credit card were in their system but the whole payment was paid using my debit card and I wanted that cash back back if refund occurs. Why not. Automatically refund to the exact account where the money came from. I understand that a mistake can happen but if reported why doing nothing about it.
Also very poor Customer service responsiveness: usually about 1hr or more to get a customer representative who puts you on hold and most often disappears until call hangs up on you.
Horrible! Booked me for a wrong flight I didn't choose, although I emailed them before hand to explain and called nobody resolved it, instead, I ended up spending over a thousand dollars in fees to rebook a canceled flight!
It's cheaper to go through the actual airline!

They failed to inform me both times that they switched my flights the airport showed me that they were notified on their and just didn't notify me I had to pay a fee and almost missed my flights. Super unprofessional and never going with this airline again
We booked our parents ticket from IND to US and back.We called cheapoair and only got one answer "We dont have any control over your ticket, we dont know how much can be refunded or provided as e-credit, and call your respective airlines" Since Cheapoair booked our ticket through multipke airlines, we called KLM, then AirFrance and even Delta, and got the same reply "We dont know anything about refund or e-credit, please contact your travel agent". The whole process of 1st waiting for the customer care to recieve call for an hour, then hearing this reply is extremely frustrating and is called harrassment. I will recommend everyone who is reading this review to book tickets(especially international) directly from the airlines website, so that you dont have to get involved with such unreliable middle person/agency.
Miserable experience during this COVID-19 situation where 60 years old people stuck internationally. We are expecting simple and honest answer to travel from one destination to other, Instead they drive you in loop and ensure that you have to spend lots of time over phone for due to the worst customer services and their own cancellation policy. If you took traveler insurance that's won't also help you, so please do not spend any single penny extra on it. They will basically block your money for "xyz" excuses and ensure you spend more money to book a new flight. Please do not fall in this trap. This is my Booking #******* and hoping something workout for me as I'm customer of cheapOair since last 7 year and giving business to them.
These people are the worst u can see, they canceled my flight and don't even answer r=the phone to help me, I called so many times and I was on hold for one hour and after one hour the just hang up the phone it happened to me many times, I even sent them massage to call me back but they never deed, I canceled my tickets finally cuz they weren't helping me about rescheduling it so they are gonna returned my money in 2 month which is ridicules and messed up, I don't have money to get another ticket for my parents to come here, send this people don't even care, so stay away from them.
When trying to resolve issues customer service hangs up, disconnects, after three days and over six hours of trying to get a new flight after my flight was canceled I finally found a customer service representative to assist me. DEX was helpful after numerous other staff members hung up on me and did not call me back after providing my contact information. Horrible customer service with a 20-1 ratio of useless to finally get one helpful person. I was courteous and professional and they just did not want to assist me.
LAST TIME CUSTOMER
We booked flights to Seattle for an Alaskan Cruise via CheapOair. We were trying to be thrifty and keep costs low so we booked non-refundable tickets. That was our mistake but dealing with CheapOair since then has been the worst customer service experience of my life.
Their hold system will only let you stay on hold for an hour at which point they hang up the call. I've done this 3 times. I have never actually spoken to someone. I have had chat conversations through their website. Although they have an automated system that makes it as difficult as possible to actually speak to someone. The people that you get in chat are unhelpful, argumentative, and standoff-ish. They will not try to help you and will only do so once you get aggressive.
To top off this terrible experience, they have a policy that you will be charged for any credits or refunds. $35 per ticket for a credit and $70 per ticket for a refund. Our Cruise has been canceled due to COVID. One of the flights was moved by an airline by greater than 12 hours thus entitling us to a refund by law even though the flight was non-refundable but due to CheapOair's terrible policy, we will be out an additional $140. We are getting the other flight credited to us but have to use the credit within 6 months, in the midst of a pandemic that will still be going on, and they are going to charge us the fees.
This is a terrible site with terrible service. Do not use it!
I find it disgraceful how this company operates, a constant manipulation of people in order to milk every cent. Particularly in a time of extreme stress not only on individuals but the globe as a whole. While every company is waiving fees and making experiences as easy as possible to modify Cheap Oair has taken it upon themselves to instate fees and penalties upon patrons despite travel companies removing them all. Every other company in the world is trying to be part of the solution cheap oair is contributing to the problem. Rude unhelpful, money hungry people. I hope this company is not long for this world. The entire group are healthcare providers currently working in the ICU resulting in an inability to travel... but make sure cheapoair gets their pound of flesh
CheapOair customer service representative is very awful. I had to wait more than 2hrs and still no representatives available. They should be more punctual and respect everybody's time specially with this current situation of coronavirus. Very disappointed! Hopefully, this should be addressed.
I booked a trip for Rome before Covid-19. When all the flights were cancelled, it was ridiculously hard to get a refund from them. I had to get ugly with them to actually get a refund and not a voucher. They also took $500 of my return too. It was for the worthless insurance ( make sure you read the fine print on that if you are a fool like me for buying it) and for fees. As far as I believe, I think that I was helpless with my flight. All flights were cancelled during pandemic and I had no choice but to cancel. The $500 should be refunded too!
Wish I could give negative stars. This is the worst company I have ever tried to do business with any where. I know I am trying to do travel business during COVID but these folks are just IMPOSSIBLE. I tried for 7 straight days to get them on the phone, holding for 3+ hours each time. I tried contacting them via email and only received a form letter response with no real information. I tried using their live chat on various days and again waited hours and hours with no assistance. Finally 3 months later I online chatted with someone who had no grasp of the English language and offered no solutions. And to make matters worse (after 3 months of frustration) I received modest "compensation/voucher" for the trip I had paid for in full. I will NEVER book another trip with this company and will share my dissatisfaction with anyone who is considering booking travel online. This was a NIGHTMARE.
Answer: I would not use Cheapo under any circumstances. Look at the 698 (!) complaints at the Better Business Bureau website. They hide under the name Fareportal, which is the parent company.
Answer: Don't use them. Book through the airline. I paid to select my seats, then a week before my flight they put me and my companion in the middle seats in different rows!
