CheapOair is one of the best online booking sites for travel and other purposes. The site is very flexible and user-friendly and 99% of the time I book my tickets from ChearpOair. How can this company still be in business considering all of these carbon copy negative reviews? I did not do my due diligence with regards to reading said reviews and booked a return flight from Calgary to Thailand for late March. I made the booking on Nov 8,2022. Within a month I received an email stating that Eva Air had cancelled a portion of my return flight and that I had to accept the date change or risk losing my flight fare altogether. I accepted although this would cost me additional money for layover hotel stays etc. Approximately a week later I received another email stating that the class of service under which my flights were booked was no longer available and that I would need to pay significantly more money if I didn't want to lose my flights altogether. My immediate reaction was "how is this fair or legal" so I called CheapOair for assistance. Thus begins a long frustrating story about CheapOAir's total lack of customer service. No toll free numbers work so me calling from Canada to New York turned into hundreds of dollars in long distance charges over the course of dozens of calls where you are endlessly put on hold by your Indian call centre representative. If you ask for a call back to save these long distance charges then you simply don't receive that call as promised. Couple this with their agent's rudeness, lack of understanding, lack of transparency, incomprehensible language barrier, and absolutely terrible line quality and this entire experience has been a total disaster. I will save you the details as I would need to write a book but suffice it to say that after dozens of phone calls and over 60 emails, I finally gave up yesterday and cancelled my entire trip. Of course CheapOair is going to charge me a cancellation fee along with the fees I need to pay to Eva Air and to the hotels that I had booked. Utterly drained, disappointed, and disgusted at this point. They tell me it will be at least two billing cycles to receive my refund which is of course ridiculous but we shall see if that is yet another lie. I need to close but I need to tell you all that my biggest issue with this entire experience is that CheapOair unequivocally lied to me using the excuse for requesting more money to be the airline had cancelled my flight….that was not true. To this day I can still go on the Eva Air itinerary that I originally booked way back in November via CheapOair. I don't know what the legal term for this is but it is dishonest at the very least and they should be held accountable. If anyone knows what action I could take with government or airline industry bodies, please reach out to me. We use travel agents to benefit from preferential pricing and for them to act as buffers between us and the airlines to assist us in cases such as mine. CheapOair made it impossible to find an amicable resolution in my case and I can't underscore enough how disappointed I am with their level of so called service. Do not use this company!

Answer: I would not use Cheapo under any circumstances. Look at the 698 (!) complaints at the Better Business Bureau website. They hide under the name Fareportal, which is the parent company.
Answer: Don't use them. Book through the airline. I paid to select my seats, then a week before my flight they put me and my companion in the middle seats in different rows!
