When I successfully applied for Care Credit 2 years ago, it was a smooth process. However, due to the pandemic I did not use their services at the time, and the card has meanwhile expired.
I reapplied this morning, confident that the process would be just as easy. WRONG!
AFTER submitting all requested info, I learned that without a cell phone, it's an uphill battle: the last part of the application cannot be completed per computer or laptop, but per tablet or cell phone.
If you are a senior without either one, the process becomes more complicated. None of the alternative options offered are without difficulties for home-bound elders who deal with serious health issues: 1. They will email you the last part of the application which, after completion, cannot be email; it needs to be returned via FAX. If you don't have a FAX machine, it was suggested, you can have your healthcare provider fax it for you. 2. they can also mail it to you...
At that point I had enough! I bid the lady a fair day and goodbye. While courtesy was no problem, their elder-discriminating rules (many of us are not tech savvy or physically able to leave the house) it is a shock to be confronted with these limitations, which are more hurdles barring seniors and poor, and some disabled to fit into society's mainstream.
My biggest mistake was to trust my previous experience and not to have reviewed Care Credit's present record.
I've been a Carecredit customer for YEARS now and I have never had a complaint until today. I called in to speak about a dispute that I had open and since I had closed my previous card, I couldn't see any of my past transactions, so I called in. I spoke to a person who calls herself an "account manager" by the name of Shannon and she was completely unprofessional. I have never spoken to a customer service representative that sounded like they hated their job and calling in with questions was such an inconvenience to her. As a CS representative you should understand that people are going to call in with questions and might even been a little frustrated, but we only respond by how we are treated. She refused to clarify anything to me as I'm trying to explain to her what I have on my end. Instead repeating the same thing over and over with attitude not even letting me explain things on my end but got upset with me when I started getting upset. I requested to be transferred to someone else and the other representative was lovely. She was able to help me and even offered to send out paper statements so I could get a better look at my account. Sadly, I forgot to get her name. Needless to say, CareCredit needs to be careful who they name "account managers" because that experience was completely unacceptable. They are the face of the company are this is not a good look. I will NOT be recommending this company to anyone if that is how we are going to be treated!
I had a dental procedure done that I charged a portion to my care credit card. I saved up the money to pay them off and sent them a check for the whole balance. They cashed the check then claimed they never received it. Now im missing over $600 from my account that seems to just disappeared.
Zero Stars no Rating is too much!
I find myself on the phone with them every single month! Care credit does not track payments and allocate where they should. They go out of their way to see you don't pay off your promo balance on time and you won't if you don't keep track! Their customer service ( minus a small few) is rude and most UN HELPFUL! They add payments as a "new charge " and charge you interest on it then tell you it was not a charge but an allocation. The whole thing is a scam! I suggest pay them off ASAP then destroy the card! They are a joke and unprofessional facade. Steer Clear
Don't bother calling. They'll either hang up on your or won't answer the phone at all. Been trying to call all morning regarding them taking late fees from me every month when my payments are made on time!
I have had care credit for a few years, in good standing, always paid on time and had a 0 balance since August 2021. I requested a credit increase and they denied my request and closed my account. No big that my increase request was denied but the fact that they closed my account over it is completely bs.
CareCredit is a SCAM! Any potential consumers beware! The advertised purpose of this card is to help those who do not have medical/ or pet coverage for bills. (Or a similar emergent situation) They prey on those in need of fast money for health care related issues. They claim no interest rates if the balance is paid in full in one year. Most would take this to mean no interest on the bill for the first year, and that interest would start accruing after the first year. What they fail to tell you is that the interest rate after the first year will be over 26% and they will add all the first year's interest to your bill as well if your do not pay off the balance after the year is up. This then causes your card to be over the limit and they add additional fee's monthly for being over your credit limit. When you call to dispute the charges because this was never disclosed to you, and you never agreed to this or signed any documentation as such. CareCredit agents and Mangers claim that the doctor's office you went to impose these charges not them. For example, a $2,500 credit card bill that was paid down to $2,000 over the course of a year within in 5 months is now over the limit by $300. This is due to two interest charges of $460 and $380 from the previous year's interest that was charged. Current monthly interest due, and a monthly over the limit fee of $44 (because of the two undisclosed interest charges). When speaking to a manager they claim this is all the dentists doing. Every payment was made on time and more than the minimum amount due was paid. Please read the reviews on BBB, and research this company online they have NUMEROUS negative reviews and take advantage of people in their time of need. They claim this is a promotion but do not provide the appropriate terms and conditions nor do they stand behind it as their own promotions when a customer calls into their customer service number
Care Credit used to be a great card to have in one's wallet; however they have now changed their online access requirements. One has to upload a picture as well as a copy of one's ID. In addition, all the requirements such SS, etc are still required. Can we all say BIG BROTHER - time to get rid of this card
I got this credit card for some dental work after doing some research and learning of the 0% interest for 1 year. After about a month of having it, I realized they were charging me a fee that was called "Card Security" on my monthly statement. The first time they charged $39.64, the second time it was $36.98 and the third it was $34.27. Looks a lot like interest to me especially with the fees decreasing each time. I would understand if it was a set fee every month but it decreases obviously as my balance decreases. I will be paying it off as soon as possible. Beware buyer.
When signing up with my dentist, Total Dental in Oakland, for a course of treatment for which they charged $5,150. I was offered a discount of 5% if I paid up front, or an "interest free" loan of $5,150. -interest free as long as paid within 12 months, through "Care Credit." Sounded pretty good to me. I Filled out application with assistance of staff of Total Dental. A credit check was thumbs up. But no- there was a scam involved, of which Total Dental was aware- while there was no "interest" per se, Synchrony tacked on a "card security fee" of over 20% per annum, for the first month. This was, as finally explained by my contact at Total Dental, "credit insurance" which was charged on the declining balance of the loan. I Said I never agreed to any such "credit insurance" and was never told of it. This is FRAUD and there must be some kick back going on. Why else would the retailer offer this "interest free loan.: Synchrony and its greedy schemers being "CareCredit" are committing wire fraud and theft in my opinion. I will be contacting the Consumer Affairs Bureau and the DA of Orlando about the matter.
If a company ever deserves 0 stars it's this one. My auto pay was always set to pay before the due date, but they kept charging me late fees. Called in several times to correct my "late fee", even had a Ref # and no one would help me. The Reps are trained to only repeat the options they have already given you that don't work. I moved up the date of my payments so they wouldn't be late, payment was still processed late. I tried to show them proof of payment and they said I had to fax it. Who has a working fax machine in their home? The say they will remove your late fee for you, but you have to pay the late fee, then they reduce your balance. So they still make you pay the late fee. The Rep said if I paid $80 today, he would remove my $40 late fee. Shady, unprofessional business practices. This experience could not have been any worse. Please, save yourself the trouble and don't use them.
May help you in a pinch, screws you in the long run! Hurts your credit rating! As you pay your balance, they lower your credit limit! Therefore... it's as if you have a credit card maxed out. This hurting your credit rating! You got approved for the limit... why is it going down as you pay? So you are always maxed out!
Can I give a -5 star rating?
Opened an account to take care of emergency expenses. Made one purchase that was paid off in a timely manner. Then haven't used the acct for 6 months. Now that I need it come to find out that they closed my acct without notice 3 days ago. Their excuse: "random" credit review triggered the acct closure. That same score was good enough to open the acct...
Long story short, responsible credit use gets you dropped by synchrony bank, who backs carecredit.
Will never do business with synchrony bank or carecredit again.
My dog got sick, got the card, they charged me interest and security charge of $75 every month! Awful
Care Credit will give you a great rate for up to 18 months. They will deduct from your account and then slam you with over 1,000.00 in interest. When you call to question they just say oh well it expired too bad. Granted health care costs are sky rocketing and you may need the credit to get the services you need but don't trust them to remind you that your promotion is expiring. Stay away unless you want to be paying care credit forever!
I signed up for a class using care credit. I didn't have to make payments until end of class and that is when I discovered the interest! I was under the impression that as long as I paid on time, there would be no interest. (I have used CC for many years and never paid interest!) I called school and they contacted care credit saying that I would like to do $150.00 interest free. Care credit said that school could not change it as 90 day has passed (I did not discover until end of classes when I had to start paying). Then Care credit said that they will put it before a committee to get it changed to an interest free loan. I get a letter yesterday saying that they can't do anything about, and for me to call the school! I have been lied too and given the run a round! I will never use care credit again! Be aware of the interest and get EVERYTHING in writing if you want to take a chance! They don't care about you, just their pocket!
I APPLIED AND WAS APPROVED SO IT WAS NOW TIME TO VERIFY MY INFORMATION. WHEN DOING SO THE THIER SYSTEM STARTED TO HAVE ISSUES, SO I CALLED THINKING NO BIG DEAL THINGS HAPPEN MAYBE A REP CAN HELP ME. AFTER SPEAKING TO SOMEONE SHE WAS SO SORRY SHE COULD NOT HELP ME TO SHE CONNECTED ME TO A SUP. THIS RUDE LADY TELLS ME THATS THE WAY OUR SYSTEM WORK I DONT KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU. I SAID MAM I WAS A PPROVED JUST HAD TO VERIFY IT WAS ME. SHE SAID IT DIDT WORK SO WE HAVE TO DECLINE YOU. IM LIKE WAIT WHAT?. I HAVE A1 CREDIT AND I WAS APPROVED SO WHAT NOW?. THIS NASTY RUDE LADY SAYS TO ME I DONT KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU BUT THATS IT AND THATS ALL. WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THAT AND CAN'T HELP YOU. SO I HAVE A INQUIRY FOR NOTHING! DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE.
I've had difficulties logging in from my pc and also my smart phone. Late fees are assessed and there is no grace period whatsoever with this card. What kind of credit card doesn't offer any kind of grace period? Almost every card out there will have a date certain and then late after 10 to 15 days after due date. CareCredit agents are almost all foreign and overseas. They say that you should be grateful because of the no interest period but anyone who has ever been stung by that racket knows all too well that the whole amount and interest comes piling back on you all at once if you miss that date.
In my case, I've had a couple of late fees reversed but this last month I tried to pay using my smart phone. East coast deadline is 12:00am and I'm in mountain zone and began trying to pay well before 10:00pm my time. The payment posted just after 10pm so I got a late fee that is nearly half of what my monthly payment is.
The carecredit card can be helpful but you have to realize that there is hardly any forgiveness and it may end up being a worse deal for you as opposed to using a regular card.
The WORST customer service in any industry I have ever dealt with! My mother paid off her balance owed and they closed her account without her notice that was several years old and always in good standing! Then, I called to adjust my payment due date and every single person I asked to speak to gave me the same script stating they cannot accommodate my request for the current billing cycle. Funny though, every single other credit company and bank were able to adjust the due date that reflected the current billing cycle when I called before that date. They were all extremely rude to me and made no attempts to provide any respectful customer service in any way. This company is the worst I have ever dealt with and would recommend to anyone to NEVER waste your time with them EVER!
I had a card for over 5 years and never missed or late on a payment so they lowered my limit which was ok but went to use it and they had closed my account! Said I was High Risk! Really a bunch of crap! Other credit cards do not do that to you! I would not reccomend this bank to anyone!
