The company generally receives positive feedback for its reliable service providers and the ease of finding suitable candidates for various needs, such as pet care and housekeeping. Customers appreciate the professionalism and attentiveness of the service providers, which enhances their overall satisfaction. I would give this company 0 stars if I could! My account got suspended because I got a request from a family for a background check. After I did it, the family wasn't able to see it because Care.com wanted them to pay for it, again. Even though it was MY personal information, they did not let me share it with any family that did not want to pay the fee (on top of paying for the background check already). To make things worse, the closed my account because "something in the background check" did not meet their requirements to be a member (I have a misdemeanor which is about to get dropped and has nothing to do or affects child care in any way), so if I wouldn't have done the background check before, I would still have my account because it would be better to just hide it? I mean. To give a little bit of context, I've been a childcare provider for 4 years, have worked as a teacher and have been with more than 20 families! I've been 3 years with Care.com and it has always been a hassle.
Also, NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR CARD INFORMATION! They'll charge you nonstop!
A waste of money. They are expensive and do little to connect you to a caregiver. Their site is awful and their services are useless! We had it for over 6 months and received ZERO caregivers. And to top it all off, you cannot DOWNGRADE YOUR ACCOUNT UNLESS YOU LEAVE FEEDBACK THAT IS FAVORABLE. I tried it on several different browsers and two computers. Its no mistake, YOU MUST LEAVE AN 8 OR HIGHER OR BE CHARGED ANOTHER MONTH… that is crooked!
I have been served like real $#*!. I've been contacting them multiples times to get a refund since I have contacted more than 20 providers and received only 1 answer back 3 week after my post. They make you pay for 3 months + and their providers are either not looking for employment so they don't use their account anymore or they go visit their account once in a while to tell you they already have a job so they are not searching anymore. The answer I got from customer service was that... I received an answer so it doesn't pass on the fact that I was not receiving any response back.
NEVER USE THEM. Instead, use facebook babysitter/nanny groups. You will at least receive decent applicants.
After signing up for a subscription, they automatically renew your subscription and NEVER TELL YOU! You get charged EVERY MONTH thereafter!
When I connected with the customer service, they said they could not refund the month it. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!
I used them for 2 weeks, then canceled. Just realized they've been billing me for 2 years. They recognized that I haven't logged in for 2 years and that I should have been downgraded, but offer no refunds. Complete BS
You have to sign up for the premium level in order to be able to send/receive messages. The issue is that the provides never respond! And there is no way to give feedback on that issue. And, no, you can't get your money back, either.
Do not answer the phone. 800 number does not work. Auto credit card cannot be removed. Box on site to delete cc does not work this company is bad news DO NOT DO Business with them. Had to have credit cc reissued as they are not responsive. Had to dispute unauthorized charge.
Took out a 1 month subscription, they continued to charge me. They do not engage with you or provide any facility for you to cancel your subscription, you can't speak to them, they don't respond to messages via email, they don't respond via the website. They are clearly trying to setup stealth subscriptions on peoples credit card accounts in the hope they don't notice.
After posting a review in early October, 2021, exposing some not so upfront financial practice of this company, which I see reiterated many times by other reviewers, my account has been 'Pending Approval' leaving me unable to connect with possible clients. Below is their message in quotations. I've been on this company's site for a few years, have no legal issues, and our local courts have been fully operational since June of 2021, it is now almost November 2021! The only way to contact this company is by e-mail, and they point out 'they will do their best to respond within 48 hours". I sent an e-mail 288 hours ago...
"Your account is pending approval
Your annual CareCheck is currently in progress. You cannot view or respond to messages until it is complete.
Note: Due to COVID-19, some court records may be inaccessible, and completion of your background check may be delayed. We apologize for any inconvenience."
I stupidly began the process of signing up for a membership for this joke of a website 2 weeks ago. It wasn't until I was brought to a page to pay for services (monthly fee and background check) I decided, nope. Not interested. Indeed is free and I've actually gotten gigs on there so.
Fast forward to me trying to delete my profile that I didn't even finish BECAUSE they blow your inbox up with made up jobs and listings. It's annoying and spam! I can't delete my unfinished account! They don't let you access any information on to do so without giving them your credit card information. I know I'm fortunate that this rip-off company doesn't have my credit card information. But they have my email! And they're blowing me up with their ridiculous emails every single day! Stop! And you can't find any contact information whatsoever.
This company is a scam. They will not answer their phone and will not send a confrontation email when you cancel their service. But will fight the dispute with your credit card company. Do not sign up for this service. There are plenty of free lists for care givers in your area. Just call hospice and they will give it to you.
You will not be able to cancel their service.
This company's business practices are deceptive and corrupt. DO NOT WORK FOR THEM or USE them. They are only interested in taking your money. I did not have a current account, yet they charged me for a "background check". When I questioned it, they never directly answered my questions. I filed an investigation with my credit card (which they have kept from a purchase I did THREE YEARS ago) and will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. ALSO, I will let my entire social media following know what a horrible company this is. Looking at the low ratings they have on this site, I clearly see that NO ONE is happy with this company. BEWARE DO NOT USE THEM
This site is a scam - Buyer beware! They happily take your money and don't provide anything in return. You can browse the site in search of people to hire but must pay in order to communicate with them. They show all these people who are available to take on new clients. After I paid, I reached out to numerous people in search of a regular housekeeper. More than 1/2 never responded. The ones who did were not accepting new clients (even though Care.com showed them available to hire prior to paying the subscription). I contacted Care.com for a refund and was told it's not their problem if people don't respond or update their profiles. Of course they've refused to refund any money. I've now taken the dispute to my credit card company.
I used them for 3 months then tried to quit in January. They keep charging me and there is no way to get through to customer service. I've lost over $300 so far!
Update 10-3-21:
After tweeting a review they contacted me and after I insisted, they refunded my money.
My single parent son recently had to let his nanny go. When you let someone into your home to care for your child you are trusting them with your life. Be advised vet this person fully. He gave his trust to someone that in hind site had many issues. Be very careful who you let into your home.
You can't even contact care.com to leave a comment without registering and in order to register you have to do your profile and the type of jobs you want and everything under the sun, just to find out that there is NOTHING out there and not only that, you get to read about 15 times that they don't hire anyone and they don't recommend anyone and they don't don't. I'm so offended that they take the time of not only people who are looking for a job, but those who might need care. To care.com the only thing that matters is their own bottom line. Absolutely nothing else matters.
Care.com leads you to believe you a signing up for one month's service then you find out you are on the hook for monthly payments. When you try to cancel you will find there is no customer support. No phone number to contact, no one answers the emails, and no one works their chat service. Canceling instructions are deceptive and I couldn't have gotten out of the contract without the help of my credit card company.
Do not waste your time or money on this site. If you do get a response it's from someone with no picture who ends up ghosting you in the end. It's honestly not worth your time or stress.
I signed up a week ago looking for a nanny and tried to sign into my account today and it says I do not have one and my email address is not in the system. So now I cant even log in to cancel my subscription. I dont understand how a company that is so publicly know can be so horrible with customer service. I never received a cancelation email either. It just happened out of the blue.
I was informed about care.com from a family member who has used it for months now. I went to the same link and everything, however, I was asked to add my card info and my social # whereas my cousin was not asked. Right when I saved my card info, I got charged. I then got to the SS page, and I backed out. My account isn't finished so I can't cancel the apparent subscription I now have. And I'm worried about my money being somehow stolen. Even if it's $1 every 12 months… I'm scared that my card info is out there.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
