Issue with Capital One
December 1, 2023

Capital One Credit Card is a Garbage Company, I been with them for more than 4 years and now they emailed me saying that they going to close my account by January 2024 bcs I stopped using there Credit Card with a very Low credit Limit, I asked them to increase my credit limit 3 times since 2021 & 2022 & 2023 they keep denying my request for credit limit increase. I'm now with Shase a great credit card company with great benefits and great cash back rewards, Capital One offer me $750 on my credit limit and I been with them for almost 4 years BUT Shase Credit Card Company under 2 years they rise my credit limit to $10.000. Bye Capital One stupid mother fu**ers

So normally I pay my bills early. This month because of the changes and inflation and the holidays I didn't pay it until the due date. And I still got a late fee. I call customer service and the gentleman helping me was talking in circles like he's not allowed to say certain things I have to say it first. That was so frustrating trying to figure out what he was trying to get me to say... Which was please remove the late fees... We were on the phone a good 35 minutes before I figured out what he needed me to say. If that's your policy to f*** with your customers heads... Then you should consider your customer service a failure. He gave me some math equation about building ends after the 4th and I had made a$50 payment and it said I still owed so I made another like $2 payment and the $50 went on my billing month and the two went on next month so technically I didn't pay the minimum balance. WTH? Where is true customer service? I seem to recall most places having a 3-day grace period. What happened to taking care of your customers not just taking your customers money!?

I never get collection agencies calling, ever.
I applied for capital one card and now I am bombarded daily with collectors calling in old setteled debt and I have to change my number again.
It was under 24 hours and collections was calling.
This is a pretty good indicator that Capital One trades off your personal information which they said was secure.

Terrible customer service
November 22, 2023

I ordered a product on September 7th never received the item. I contacted capital one on October 7 to dispute the charge originally they put a credit on my account then the contacted the company the company sent them a copy of the order which clearly showed the item was never shipped and no date to be shipped. So with that information capital one put the charge back on my account and sent me a letter stating the item was as described and received in good condition. I contacted capital one and ask what the heck was was going on but no one had an explanation. Basically you are on your own. They ask me for more information I explained to them they had all the information but wasn't interested in helping. I haven't closed the account but will never use it again.

Horrible Bank!
November 21, 2023

Capital one is one of my bank accounts that I use just for emergency money or to save for big purchases. I always liked not being able to spend my money. That's how I use to use ING (I miss them.)

I deposited a check into capital. Unknown to me before it had cleared the owner of the account (the check was written on) had suspicious activity and closed their account. They opened a new account and had to write me a new check.

During this time Capital1 decided the check was fraude, they never called me and closed my account. They informed me because they closed the account I can never reopen a bank account with them. To add insult to injury they use an off-shore company to speak to me. The specialist that I had was condescending and told me my account is closed and nothing is going to change that. When I asked why I didn't get a phone call, I was reprimanded and was told I am not allowed to question the policies of capital one and nor are they.

This is crazy because there was no fraud just a returned check from an inactive bank account. Ps. It's a mobile deposit they didn't even have to take time to mail a check. It wasn't my fault and now I am band.

Save yourself time and headaches! There are so many better bank options… stay away from Capital1.

Worst bank ever. Thieves.
November 19, 2023

Tried fixing my credit with their secured credit card. Put my $200 in. Took about a month in a half to get my card. Supposedly my first payment didn't go through although it did I have proof from my other bank statement. So I was charged another $25. Continued to make a $100 payment about a week after my first payment. That took about a week in a half to show up on my account because of the "failed first payment". When the funds hit my account, only $48 was available. I called they said because of the first "failed" payment that they're holding the other money which didn't make sense. Where is the rest of my $100?! I canceled the account. They said it will take 2 payment cycles to receive my money back via check. So it's going to be 2 months to get $48 after my $125 payments. Thieves. DONT USE CAPITAL ONE!

My business was issued a relief fund check from my local city for the amount of $15,000. An employee took that BUSINESS check and deposited it into her PERSONAL account via the ATM. This check should have NEVER cleared in the first place. I went into a branch in Germantown, MD and alerted Capital One of this fraud and they said they would open an investigation. They gave me a number to call to check the status of the investigation. Every time I call that number they give me the run around, it's been 2 months with nothing. I will not let this go. Capital One is a trash bank and they do NOT care if you are not personally banking with them. They can't even right a wrong that's cut and dry. DO NOT Bank with Capital One!

Horrible customer service
November 14, 2023

I have a checking, savings,cd and 4 credit cards with capital one. Everytime you call customer service I have been given incorrect information. Lastest was today I called and asked a very specific question about a check and based on the representatives information, I made a decision with ongoing financial plans. Well guess what. Information was wildly wrong and costed me several hours of time and gas. Contacted them again asked to speak with a manager and was told yes they did give me incorrect information but as far as them doing anything at all to fix the issue... nonexistent. Basically was told sorry but not our problem our employee gave you wildly incorrect information anything else we can do for you. Even after thoroughly explaining what the employee has caused due to his misinformation and all the accounts I have there was still told sorry nothing I can do. Anything se we can help you with? Very close to closing all accounts with capital one and going elsewhere

Worst CC
November 9, 2023

My experience with Capital One has been extremely disappointing, to say the least. Despite consistently making timely payments, they abruptly closed my account without any prior warning or explanation. This lack of communication is simply unacceptable and has left me feeling frustrated and betrayed.

To make matters worse, when I reached out to one of the representatives with ID# WEU624, who claimed to be the highest authority within the company, she displayed an alarming lack of empathy and understanding. It's unacceptable for a company representative, especially someone claiming to be in a position of power, to dismiss the concerns of their customers without attempting to assist or find a resolution.
The way this situation has been handled has not only affected my relationship with Capital One, but it has also left me with doubts about their integrity and professionalism. I trusted this company with my financial matters, only to be let down when I needed support the most.

I plan on sharing my negative experience with my family, friends, and anyone who will listen to ensure they avoid dealing with Capital One. It's disheartening to witness such disregard for their customers' satisfaction and well-being. I urge all associates and potential customers to steer clear of a shocking lack of empathy and understanding. The representative with ID# WEU624 seemed completely indifferent to my situation and failed to acknowledge how their actions have impacted me.
Not only was the closure of my account unfair, but the customer service I received from Mosha was far from satisfactory. She arrogantly claimed to be the highest authority within Capital One and brushed off any possibility of helping me. It is astonishing that someone in such a position of authority could be so dismissive and unhelpful.

The way I have been treated by Capital One has left a lasting negative impression on me. I can't help but feel that their supposed commitment to customer satisfaction is nothing more than empty rhetoric. This experience has made me question the integrity of the company as a whole.

I am incredibly disappointed in how Capital One handles its customers. With their abrupt account closures and unhelpful customer service, I strongly advise my family, friends, and associates to steer clear of this company. There are plenty of other financial institutions that prioritize their customers and understand the value of communication and loyalty.
I hope that my review helps others avoid the frustration and disappointment I have experienced with Capital One. It is truly disheartening to see a company that I once trusted fail so miserably in its obligation to provide fair business relationships

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE
November 7, 2023

THIS IS MY SECOND TIME I HAD A PROBLEM WITH A MERCHANT. I HAD TRIED TO CHARGE BACK A MERCHANT FOR GOODS NOT RECEIVED. CAPITOL ONE FIRST GAVE ME A TEMPORARY CREDIT,THEN TOOK IT BACK. I CANCELLED MY CAPITOL 1 CREDIT CARD BECAUSE THEY DID NOT STAND BEHIND ME WHEN I HAD A PROBLEM WITH A PURCHASE. I WENT TO CITI BANK, AND THEY DID HELP ME.

Got a replacement card last year...first time i tried to use it, got declined. To enable it, had to go through A "RE-VERIFICATION" BY EITHER LETTING THEM SEND ME A TEXT--WHICH I DID NOT WANT BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE A CELL PHONE HANDY, or e-or snail-mailing them a picture of my driver's license.
Tried the email--they claimed they couldn't read the bar code info on the DL; 5 tries later with varying resolutions, they finally said ok--weeks later. Fast forward a year, now cabela's/bass wants to "upgrade" my other capital one card. Worked fine for 3 in person charges at local stores but the second i tried an online purchase it was declined and turns out, they want the same f'ing verification process. Do they have an email option for their ver. Code? NO. (but they have my email on file).
Can they use a landline? NO. THEY CAN ONLY DO THIS BY TEXT OR SNAIL MAIL.
Why? My other banks have a landline or email option what is the major malfunction at cap.one?
And there's no process for filing a complaint about it. Their response: you signed the card agreement (ACTUALLY, I DID NOT--THIS CARD WAS A VISA ORIGINALLY OBTAINED WHEN CABELA'S WAS ITS OWN STORE and it just "magically" got repapered into cap one when they sold out to bass.).
The only reason i don't just cancel based on their sucky attitude is the hit to my credit score.

No perks for cardholders
November 6, 2023

I've been a holder of a capital one credit card for years. I have been trying to obtain a credit line increase and the company keeps rejecting me despite my stellar credit score. I would not recommend a credit card from this company.

Worse Credit cards and Customer Service
November 5, 2023
Updated review

I have had two Quicksilver cards with them for about six years. Payments have always been on time ever since. I forgot my add my autopay last month and was charged $38. I was able to speak to a supervisor (not to mention he would not let me speak, attitude its not even a word). Never been treated this way by any other bank, Amex, Chase amazing customer service. CapitalOne would provide me the agent name but I can provide the ID SVS699.
My cards will be closed accordingly with them and close all my accounts.

Same answer for the past three years when i call for the upgrade. No OFFERS AT THIS TIME. I moved my checking to Chase Sapphire checking account already. Done with this none sense with Capital One. I have been nothing but a great customer to them, No offers, shame on you.

I purchased an electric bike using my Capitol One MasterCard.
The bike was not working properly, so I paid an independent bike repair service to check it out. They found all kinds of problems, so I returned the lemon bike to the manufacturer.

Meanwhile, I disputed the charge with Capitol One. I continually supplied Capitol One with all the information that I had and with the Emails that I exchanged with Heybike. Despite everything that I provided, they eventually charged it back to me. So Heybike has the bike and I am billed for it. It would've been so easy, based on the paperwork that I provided to the bank, to do a charge back in my favor.

Every time I supplied Capitol One with the requested paperwork, the agent said that this should be enough and they would decide in my favor in a few days. Another lie was the claim that I didn't get my paperwork to them in time, which I did.

I have been with the bank for 12 years with a perfect record. They did not stand up for me.

One of the easiest cards to get but one of the worst customer service I've ever seen. Their call centres are all outsourced abroad and no one understands you or tries to help in any way. They just pass the call around and eventually disconnect the call. I've called 3 times for fraudulent transaction and my issues is still not resolved and when I asked how to solve it I was replied like it's 1970, please print your documents and fax us your request as our company has not evolved with the times.

Do not even think about applying for a credit card if you have not unfrozen all CBR reports. I got declined, remembered that I had them frozen, went to unfreeze them, then ran another application and that was my kiss of death. Despite having a near 800 credit score, I was still declined and they told me they could not resolve it, and told me to wait SIX MONTHS to apply again. So I guess I will be going to Chase Sapphire instead.

The legacy Bill Pay Service ( Pre 360) was shutdown in October 2023 and replaced with the new 360 Bill Pay Service. The old system had so much more functionality and flexibility. The new Bill Pay system is horrible to use, and looks terrible, can't hard to distinguish Billers apart ( When there are multiple Credit Cards from one bank, for example the all show going to the bank name and not the nickname).

I will be closing my CapitalOne account and using Fidelity or JP Morgan instead.

I was with Capital One for many years, and I always paid on time, I was never late in payments, I also paid high interest every year. Only in the last 2 months it was difficult for me to pay, they immediately charged me late fee of $35 each month, and in addition, when I had the money to pay, I wanted to negotiate and pay the whole amount in full, I Just asked for a refund of the Late fee which is $70 only, and they REFUSED. Ended up paying the FULL amount, but I said to myself that I will NEVER, NEVER will USE Capital One!

Boycott Capital 1
October 25, 2023

Cap 1 offered a credit card with great 0% purchase terms. I used the card twice and then they canceled the card. They provide no explanation why. Nor any way to get a clear explanation why. This practice shows a disregard for the cardholder as it dings their credit score for no reason at all. I did nothing wrong. I have a great credit score, pay on time, money in the bank, I own rental houses, and have clear title (paid off) property notes in my file cabinet. Boycott Capital 1.
