Held my state issue paycheck. I called in one night after the check was not cleared in time. They didn't have the number to verify the check and so I googled it and gave it to them. Because the issuing bank (state treasurer) was closed they told me to call back again the next day so that they could call that bank. They said they would not verify my check unless I called into prompt them to verify the check for me.

Poor Business
March 9, 2022

I keep getting a charge from a merchant that I did not make. I called Capital One and let him know and they reissued me a new card which I locked. So now I am getting text messages from Capital One asking me if I try to make a purchase from this company, they asked me to text back yes or no. So when I text back no of course I have to go through and I end up getting a new card. This has happened three times and the last two months so I am on my 4th Capital One card. I called in to them asking how this is possible that they could keep letting a merchant who does not even have my correct card number charge me and Capital One tells me I need to let the charge go through to dispute it. I informed Capital One that I do not have the time to call in and be put on hold and wait several hours for them to do nothing. That's exactly what they do nothing!

No help at all!
March 9, 2022

I have had a Capital One card for around 9 years. I have was never late and never missed a payment. This past year my father passed and then my son and I both had covid which lead to missed work for both cases.( I am a single mom) I tried asking Capital One for some help with my card and they gave me some type of plan where I could make lower payments, but then still reported it to the credit bureau as missed payments because it was lower than the regular payment amount. They have not worked with me at all and my score has tanked because of it. I also have a Chase card and have only had them for about a year. They let me completely skip 2 or 3 payments with absolutely no penalties or charges and no negative reports to my credit. I am very disappointed in Capital One and do not recommend them at all.

Capital One has one of the worst Customer Services departments I have ever encountered. I run a global Customer Services team so have little tolerance for poor customer services. I have had to call for the same issues multiple times and the problems do not get resolved. Either the representatives are reading from a script or while they do speak English, they are not understanding the context of the questions or requests.

Capital one lost all respect today when they became accomplice to theft of funds from me. So much for security of doing business with this bank.

I contested a charge on my account, that they later rescinded. They said provide further proof of claim which I did and they dis-acknowledged. Maybe the thieves are actually just bigger Capital One customers. When a company steals from a Capital One customer and Capital One says customer is protected, I am living proof that that is a false statement.

Disappointed after many years of having been a customer here. We had done all our banking at Capital One, over the last year there was a lot of changes. We rolled with it. Just recently we paid off a credit card with them before the closing of the statement and expecting a zero balance see there is an i Interest charge on the account. I call speak to o e representative who did not understand my concerns I asked to speak to a supervisor and was declined. I called back again and spoke to a new representative and was able to get to a supervisor. Even after getting through to a supervisor there was not result. You would think in this environment we are living in they would work with a customer who has been a customer for many years let alone did all their business there. Sorry to say this bank is not customer friendly one bit.

The worst Bank to trust your finances.
Many should know that banks are desperate to open credit cards for them to enrich themselves, they promise low interest rates that you will never see, they even open credit cards without your consent to see if you fall into temptation and get into debt, and when you call and you ask for a Manager to claim, and after 20 minutes of waiting, one with the name of Marcy answers you, who puts you on mute and leaves you talking to yourself and wants to ask you for all your information.
Do not allow Banks like these to use your money in their favor.

Hold on my credit
March 5, 2022

I've been a customer for almost a year, I paid more than the minimum. Or when it got low I would pay $20, up to $100. Every time I made a payment it would show right now on my available credit. Now I paid my credit card off, through the customer service. After paying my credit card off I checked online and it did not show my Credit available. And it still showed that I old them out. So I called customer service again they told me it would show up in the morning at 8 o'clock. It's now 9 o'clock I just got off the phone with customer service and the manager, they told me that it's going to take seven days for my account to show the credit and paid off. They kept on asking me, why I made such a substantial amount. I advised him I wanted to pay it off. I paid off all together 10 credit cards. And now because I paid this credit card off you guys have been in a hold for seven days I will cancel my card this is not right and I was lied to. I am getting treated like someone Who don't pay their credit card on time. Also they pay their payment and to get refused by the bank so it gets returned none of my payments gets returned and I've always paid it on time all before the time that it's supposed to be paid. I've never had a payment takes seven days. I also advised him after seven days I wanna make sure everything is good on my account and I'm going to close my account. Because this is not right so now I'm sitting here. Over the weekend and I can't even use my capital one card. I told her this is not right. But she asked me again it's unusual for you to make A substantial amount. $379 to pay off my credit card is not a substantial amount. I just wanted to pay off my credit card. But like I told her it doesn't take seven days when I was told it would show on my account at 8 o'clock in the morning. So I'm gonna wait my seven days I told her. Then I'll call capital one and I will cancel my card. Out of 10 cards this is the only card that put a hold on my account.

I opened an account with Capital One and deposited a cashier's check from another bank. They locked up my account in an investigation for fraud for 4 months. During these months they told me they had no info for me and sent me to the investigation department to leave a message that would never be answered.
At the end of 4 full months, I was finally able to talk to someone which claimed they needed "verification of ownership of funds". I spoke to someone else who screamed at me and said he was reporting me to the police for a counterfeit check. At that point I went to the issuing bank of the cashiers check and had an officer verify directly to Capital One that the funds were released to them. 5 days later, my funds were still in investigation and I was told I would need to file a police report to subpoena my funds. I called the following day and a supervisor FINALLY agreed to release my funds. These people are the frauds.

Capital One
March 3, 2022

I called Capitial One after becoming ill with COVID. I had several problems because of this illness. I was unable to work. Some I could afford to pay the minimum. I was sent an agreement letter for the account. I did not want to have this account closed. I found that I had three months. The person I spoke to took the time to go over everything. I had two other letters in the last few days stating they were closing my account. Unfortunately, I found out they misrepresented things that they stated in the letters. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!

Bad choice of cards
March 2, 2022

Someone tried to open a capital one card in my name and I had a freeze on my account and they denied it because of that. But they still put a hard copy against my account for two years and knowing it was not me. I wouldn't have a Capital one card if it was the last one on earth.

Heartless
March 1, 2022

I've had this card for a few years.

Recently my wife and I's income went from $140,000 a year to only $60,000 a year due to my medical issues. I have been unable to fill my car with gas or pay for groceries.

Henceforth, I've been unable to make the payments on my card like I had expected to.

They send me letters, emails, and voicemails saying they want to work with me, but every time I call them they leave my interest-rate at 23% and are unwilling to work with me.

Never use them! Horrible company!

I recently submitted a dispute for an interest charge that appeared after the entire balance was paid off and the billing cycle had closed. They denied my request insisting I owe over $100 for an account with a zero balance. After researching online I found several complaints by other account holders reporting the same issue. I'm closing my account and will never do business with them again.

I've had same account since 2011, no problems. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I get a notice from Cap One they are merging with another bank. Then the problems started when my bank in Thailand did not know how to use the equipment so entered a wrong PIN number three times. I have been locked out of my checking account for 10 days, during which time I've called Cap One every day. Some customer service rep tell me my account is fine, not blocked; but when I try to use it, I cannot. One even told me she is working out of her house! Further, someone stole $350 out of my account, no vendor, no name. A scam. My advice: Do not use Capital One!

Exhausted and upset
February 28, 2022

For the past eight days, dealing with Capital One has been an absolute nightmare. Completely useless. I have been with them for many years. I have been a great customer, paying my balance entirely at the end of every month. Unfortunately, I met someone recently who claimed to be a friend but turned out not to be. This person offered to pay my balance and gave me their banking information to do so. Payment was submitted and Capital One restricted my account immediately. I have multiple automatic bill payments set up and did not want those to be affected so I requested to cancel the payment but they would not even give me that option; this within just a couple hours of submitting payment. They needed to verify the payment with the account holder first which is understandable. They also needed to verify with the account holders bank that they were the actual account holder, which is also understandable. Both of those verifications are understandable in regard to the payment but absurd that my account would remain restricted, unable to use at all in the meantime. The thing is, this "friend" ended up being bogus, with intention to scam. Needless to say, the payment did not clear and the person has been unreachable. Capital One claims that they understand my frustration and yet insist that their process remains that they still must get bank verification from this criminal (for a payment that didn't even clear and is now a moot point anyway) in order to lift the restriction from my credit card. I have spoken to them for multiple hours a day for 8 days and have gotten nowhere. Their logic is to get in touch with a criminal in order to make the hassle this has caused me disappear and that is obviously never going to happen. It is all out of my hands at this point and my fate lies in a criminals hands and somehow that is OK with them and there's nothing they can do?! Absurd. I have so many automatic bill payments set up with this credit card and if I close the account it will still remain in restricted status and I will also lose all my miles. Applying for a new credit card is not going to be feasible given that my credit now shows a restricted card. They have a hugely flawed process which does not protect their customers who have become victims of fraud. Unbelievable lack of reason and logic. So exhausted and upset.

Banking app doesn't work right, there are no "0" on the remote deposit function - they blame it on my Apple IOS version "needs to be higher than 13.0" - I am at 15. 1. 3, try again. CS agent didn't know what to do so she hung up on me.

In the event of a billing dispute on your credit card bill, this is a company which will not support you. To have a a credit card issuer which will help you resolve it in the event of a dispute is an important consideration but one that people dont often consider. There are lots of alternative credit card issuers, I suggest you use another bank! Capital One is very bad!

This is the worst service I've ever had in my life and would not recommend capital one to anyone. I filed a dispute with this fraudulent company called "student loan forgiveness centers" that I paid $899 to consolidate my student loans and I realized they were fraud after I paid the money due to inconsistent behavior. I provided Capitol one with documentation, showing proof of my requested refund, negative reviews on BBB (Better Buisness Bureau) relating to the company due to scam and documentation that the company provided stating that I had within 72 hours to request for a refund when I asked for one the first day. Capitol one stated that SLFC provided a document that stated I asked for a refund after the 72 hours on the 25th of January in which i did but i still asked several days prior and with proof. Capital One also told me I had to have proof of the company returning a refund. Why would they give me that when they ran off with it? That makes absolute no sense. This makes me sick. I honestly thought my bank would've had my back but in reality they helped them run off with my money with no loan consolidation or service from the obvious scam.
