Absolutely the worst customer service, I have ever dealt with. I have been a long time customer of capital one and this past weekend broke the camels back. I was enjoying my weekend with my family when I got a notification about a fraud charge, mind you it was my purchase so I approved it no biggie. Next store we go to fraud alert again, this time I call customer service they send me a link through text and to send them a photo of my government ID and that it's really me. I reluctantly did it and they verified they received it over the phone and said you should not have any more problems were sorry and enjoy your day. Next store we go to card is declined and I get another fraud notification, I now have to call them again and now the fraud department wants a copy of my DL which I already did, a copy of my SS card and copy of my bank statement with my account number showing along with my name and address. Then i was told it would take 7 to 10 days to verify me and then they would unlock the card and I could use it. Really who carries that stuff with them on Vacation, I canceled my credit cards with them. I used my USAA credit card and had no issues what so ever, even from the stores I was declined at for supposed fraud. Stay away! God forbid I was in a family emergency or over seas I would have been screwed.
Capital One has one of the most horrible verification programs. To activate a card you have to take a picture of your driver's license and then the system has to approve that. If your card is not flawless and your phone is not a brand new phone. The system says it cannot see it. And this is done while a representative is on the line waiting. I tried 5 times to take a perfect picture. Now, if that doesn't work they'll send you an email. This way you can send them the same information (pictures of your ID) for a real person to look over. Bad thing about this is, it takes anywhere from 7 to 10 days for them to verify a picture through email! What happened giving them the license number? I waited for over a week for the physical card to come in the snail mail. Now I have to wait another week for verifications? I understand that security is very important in this day and time. But you would think a bank with this level of reputation would have a system put in place that can actually work. I'm very, very frustrated at this point. Other than that, I'm pleased.
Very sad with the company wouldn't refer anyone to this company I will be ending my business with them after 8 years they don't care about people just taking your money
Basic 800# with zero help to get you to someone who can actually assist. I've physically gone to the branch office multiple times to get something important processed and each time it's been rejected due to the branch's error, not mine. This has created a hardship on my family and unnecessary delays. Lack of accountability for staff and a hassle with no real assistance for the customer. I'm closing accounts here. Just don't deal with them.
I mailed Capital One check to MetLife to pay the Insurance, Met life did not receive it, But the check cashed on on Jan 9,2023. MetLife need me to show them the copy of the returned check, I got the copy, but the back check did not show any deposit information, no Met Life stamp in the back of the check. I called Capital One twice, they don't know where the fund deposit to. They don't know how long it will take to find out. I repaid MetLife already. 2 months, still no response from CapitalOne.
Useless. Will rob you. Any money you put down into your card is gone. I put down $300 into my first credit card, and now I don't get it back now that I've closed it. What's the point of that? Also never let me pay, didn't let me login, and was an IMMENSE HASSLE. So glad I closed it, even if I lost $300
I went to deposit a tax refund check on the Capital One mobile app because I assumed it would be quicker and more convenient than taking it to a bank. Not so. It is going to be 3 business days for it to be available in my account. That makes no sense for a mobile app which is supposed to be faster and more convenient than dealing with a bank in-person. I could have gone across town and cashed the check and had the money in my hand the day of but I was fooled into thinking, "Wow, I can just take a picture of it and I'll have the money tomorrow. No problem. It will save me a trip." I expected a 24 hour delay at the most because most deposits are overnight, but having to wait 3 days to have the money in my account is ridiculous. Its an official government check no less so I don't understand why it should take so long to clear. If you have a check that you want to cash or deposit, DO NOT deposit it on the Capital One mobile app. It is way LESS convenient than just going to the bank and depositing it or cashing it in person. I also called customer service number and they didn't seem to give a hoot and told me sorry but it will be available on the 3rd day after the deposit. Bush-league mobile app. If they are going to take 3 days to make it available they should put up a disclaimer telling you so because when people use a mobile banking app, they are expecting it to be fast and convenient. Not worse and slower than going out yourself and dealing with the bank in-person. Its kind of the point of having mobile apps is to make things more convenient. Capital One, you have more than inconvenienced me today. I have no food or money and am waiting for a check to clear that I deposited two days ago. Thanks a lot.
I closed my Capital One platinum credit card account this week after 10 years of BS. I just couldnt take it anymore. There are other, better fish in the sea. Capital One has data breaches all the time. All.The.Time. (But don't worry about setting up auto payments to merchants because CO will somehow still process those long after you get a new card with a totally different number.) Their solution? Be hypervigilant about blocking purchases. Sometimes they notify you and you can click a button to say you recognize the transaction. But other times they just suspend the card - and don't notify you. If you call to get it unlocked it isnt enough to have typed in your card number and last 4 digits. Oh no - they either need to send a code to your mobile number (which per the disclaimer the rep reads to you, they can then sell) or you have to send them a copy of your driver's license which they will take 7-10 days to peruse. Those are huge red flags given their massive internal security issues, and I would recommend using another company if at all possible. Luckily I didn't have to do a single thing to prove my identity when I told them to shut down the account. They just did it, no questions asked.
I have Capital One Walmart credit card. After making payment I have to wait 7 business days( 10 or more days) for funds to be available again on my credit card. For example. Paying on the 3rd of the month. M funds are available on 15 th of the month. On 18th of the month they sending new statement. I called customer service but they have explanation like I paid huge amount ( $ 1,900.00) and they have to process it correctly. Seriously.
So I got my car stolen by my wallet in glovebbox the theifs thried to access my Capital one account to no avail but capital one lock my account down called them verified it was me worst customer service ever got called a liar hung up on to I can't have my funds only way is to go to branch how is that even possible w no car the idoan speaking reps don't understand what stolen means word of advice stay far far away from them I will be so frustrated.bad experience from get go closing all my accounts n going to a normal bank after being a loyal customer yrs hey capital one screw u!rude as hell
I have had savings accounts with capital one for years. After the sale of a house I deposited $75,000 into one of my savings accounts. After I did that they have frozen my account (since March 28th) and I have not had access to $110,000 of my money for almost a month now. No one at the bank will speak to me because my account is "under investigation" and I have not had anyone contact me to let me know where they are with my account and when I will have access to my money again. Beyond frustrating and bordering on what feels illegal. Once I get my money back I will not be banking with them again.
I have been a customer of Capital One for many, many years. One day I went to a store to make a purchase and my card was denied. I have always paid my account off in full and in time. Without warning Capital One put a stop on my charge account. I had no idea what the issue was. In February I sent a check for $1438.70 made out to Capital One. The check was cashed by Citibank using my Capital One account number. I have spent hours on the phone with Capital One and Citibank. Nobody will help. Capital One told me there's nothing they can do. They added interest and finance charges on my bill. Citibank told me they could not identify the cashed check without a Citibank account number. There is no Citibank account number. They used my Capital One account. I spoke with supervisors and managers. They would not help. I'm not sure why Capital One would not go after s bank that cashed a check that was made out to them. I will be contacting an attorney, the news and anyone else that little listen. Absolutely unacceptable
Over a month of waiting for.a.card I have verified ID for sent funds for made 3 separate requests for replacemnt card! Still no results! Now expect me to reverify my identity! Seriously I dont have the time to run to Canada Post continuously for verification of who I am! I demanded escalations what a waste of time! Arent willing to refund money either! Sickening sickening company! So we shall wait and bury said card and wait for money to come back! Never again!
Today I was greeted with the most horrific customer experience. I went to a friend's home and called Capital One to make my payment from our arrangement, and was initially asked if I have my car- I never had been asked this before so I was confused- the representative was misleading and secretive even though I had nothing to hide and answered her questions. She tried repeatedly to confirm if I had my car which I was unable to because I was not home. I was told they had not been able to get my payment. I told her this is weird because the funds are sitting in my account and have been for a few days. She urged me to travel home and get my debit card to make a payment to resolve this over the phone and I said I would call back. Upon my callback I was told I gave a auto payment to be taken out immediately instead of waiting for the charge to my debit. I was then told the different responses: the company suddenly does not have my car, then the rep stated my car has not been taken, and another even went as far as to indicate that someone I know probably stole it which is not possible in anyway. Then it was later said nothing can be told to me as far as what is going on and even though this caused myself distress, the company failed to provide a resolution or even show remorse or empathy. If the company had called to confirm an over the phone auto payment then conflict would have been avoided. I almost did not even make this review because I never saw so many bad reviews about a company and its experience where nothing is done to respond to the complaints I cannot believe I got stuck with this company for my first car financing because why give me a vehicle for the betterment of my family only to inconvenience your customer AFTER getting a paid that was scheduled. I am disgusted by this company and Josh in customer advocacy dept needs to be fired. Who the hell hears all the distress caused by this and then purposely places a customer on hold for 15-20m without even checking in on the client holding. I even asked to be transferred because too many workers claimed they do not have the answers I need, but they actually told me that no one is available in terms of supervisors or management to resolve emergency situations. This left my son unable to get home and myself forced to walk in high temperature at long distance with a heat exhaustion and anxiety disorder simply to get him home. And all of this caused by Capital One on my wedding anniversary. I hate the people running this company. You make what could probably be a great company utterly sour.
If they can't resolve your enquiry they'll either pass you to another agent who can't resolve it either or disconnect the call
First of all I don't get WHY Vic S. Gave them 5 stars then wrote a horrible review about them. After years of being stalked by Cap1, I finally gave in and got a limited debit card from them for $300. It was for emergency vet services only. All 3 people in my house were and still are getting Cap1 offers in the mail on almost a daily basis, they're relentless stalkers! The reason I finally just closed the card is because their app is WORTHLESS! The app made it impossible to pay the bill. I got 2 cards one for me & one for hub, they put HIM as the primary. Which meant I couldn't make a payment from my phone even tho I had a card in MY name. Why bother having an app if it's so full of glitches you can't use it! And why can't both card holders make a payment? Thank gawd I didn't need their customer service for anything except making a payment.
Customer of Capital since 2005. I live in Mexico. Switch computer. System didnt recognized. Ask me for a code. They only call usa phone numbers to provide with a code. I have none. I dont need it in Mexico. I had access for this code for 5 years! Stubborn as they are, they dont give email options like other banks do. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THIS BANK. I have been calling for 5 years TO NO AVAIL. I DETEST THIS COMPANY. HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE
Just gave them 8000 to pay off all balances on my account. I got residual interst on my next statement ofv23.00 they wouldn't waive it.i promptly $#*!ing pd it closed all 4 account at that time I was sent to retention to try to salvage my business. Yeah $#*! all the way off. $#*! around and find out $#*!nuts. 15 yrs wirh them. Pulled all my funds and business. Kunts
I was surprised when I was defrauded by a company with a fake check how indifferent Capital One was to helping me. There was no live person to talk to and I was repeatedly transferred to a recorded line in their "customer security" department. Ultimately, they elected to close my checking account even though I was the victim of fraud. When I question them on that the woman on the phone instantly became snotty with me and said that they could keep an account or close them as they saw fit and didn't have to justify it to their customers. Wow. That's a really great attitude.
These guys are the worst. My mother is a Senior with great credit. Pays on time and pays more than is due or carries no balance. She had just paid off her account and had a zero balance. She went to use her card at Kroger so that it would stay active. They rejected the charge. She used another card for the groceries. She went home and spent hours trying to find out why the rejection. After a bunch of excuses, call transfers, reroutes, they finally told her that unless she had a cell phone so that they could verify her purchase as she was standing at any check out, that she could no longer use her account. She doesn't use a cell. She complained to the coroporate office and they called back weeks later and blew her off. They wanted her to tell them that it OK to close her account and she said No. All of her major bank credit card accounts are set up for her to get an 'after purchase' email on her desktop computer at home, so that she can verify that she made the purchase. Worked fine with the major bank that accepted the Kroger charge, but that is not good enough for Cap One. This company refuses to make any accomodation for the elderly who don't do business by cell phone. These guys are bad news! I am also trying to figure out how they can require this 'cell authorizing', but still have thousands of online complaints from customers about fake charges on their credit card accounts. How did THAT happen? AVOID THIS COMPANY! We are going to get older, too.
Answer: No really I can't I mean from the very beginning they said they mailed it and then a week later when I called and they had not mailed it yet when I checked my bank they take the money out of my bank and then tell me they're going to hold the money for 7 days to make sure the money is there I think they take the customers for granted in a big bad way
Answer: From my experience, they appear to be nothing but a shady scam bank.
Answer: They offered nice rewards back It sounded more impressive than it is. Big mistake.
Answer: This is the same issue I'm having with Capital One. They make mistakes and then drag their feet and act like nothing is wrong.
