Ok- Since I wrote this review and another on Facebook, Cabela's Customer Service reached out and orchestrated an exchange or return of the shotgun. I am please now with the outcome and their interest in my satisfaction. I just wish the managers at the store had the range to assess these situations and do the right thing face to face without all of this review reaction.
I purchased two shotguns ~1 month ago along with sites. The guy who sold them to me couldn't find a site mount and said to order on Amazon. When I got home, I realized that there were no holes bored into one of the guns for the mounts and also realized the no return policy on the box. I Was not made aware of this policy at the store. Bottom line is that I was told that my only option is to take it somewhere else to have it machined which is expensive and time consuming since closest business that does this is 45 minutes away and not opened on the weekends. When expressing my situation to "customer service" they explained that "the only option for them was to give me a $25 gift card."
While nice of them, it doesn't really solve my problem and hassle. What ever happened to good customer service and making sure the customer is satisfied when they walk out the door. These big companies need to be punished for this. I'm looking for other options for everything GB I purchase even if it cost a couple of dollars more.
My Dad used say to me when I got taken advantage of "boy they sure saw you coming". Well that's exactly how I feel here. I recently bought a UTV at the Ralston NE store and it was very exciting. The machine was a stripped down version and I remember talking with the sales rep about all the accessories I wanted to get. She gleefully agree with me as she finalized the paperwork but little did I know I was in for a rude awakening. Accessories? Ha! Yeah if you want to wait a year and good luck even then. My wife hit the phones and was able to finally talked to someone who could get us what we wanted in approximately 3 weeks, Great! Not to Bad. So we looked and discovered hey since we bought the machine there we get 10% off accessories and even more if we wait and order on a Tuesday we get another 10% Fabulous! No wait it's a "special order" and the discount does not apply. What kinda BS is that. Cabelas, you hometown shop you, YOU'RE A JOKE AND I AM DONE SPENDING MY MONEY IN YOUR STORE!
My fiance works for Cabela's they are not taking safety precautions, he found out after getting Covid that there were at least 2 other employees in his store that he works closely with 1 that had been hospitalized before he got sick they never shut the store down never did any cleaning or disinfecting, the employees are not wearing mask so every customer that has come in contact with these employees/ has possibly been infected without even a chance to protect themselves or there families but for sure one day while waiting on my fiance I was walking around the store I was approached by seven different employees about whether or not I had applied for a credit card and if I wanted to apply after after telling them multiple times that I did not want one and I was even carrying a Cabela's shirt at the time and could not get them to leave me alone until I left the store customers beware they're only worried about their bottom line their dollar their pockets not your health not the employees health
I placed an online order for a handgun available for Cabela's "Ship to Store" option which clearly states across their website in multiple locations that it is typically "Delivered in 2-3 Business Days". After 4 business days of the order indicating "In-Process" I spoke with a very informative customer service representative. She stated that seldom, if ever, will the order arrive in 2-3 days. The only exception being if it's shipped via FedEx which is almost never done. The most common shipping method is via the regular inventory truck and that will be a minimum of 10 business days with an additional 2 days to unload and place into inventory. This is a flat out lie being perpetrated on the customer via Cabela's online ordering policies published on their website as well as in-store employees in the gun department. Caveat emptor when it comes to purchasing from Cabela's/Bass Pro Shop. I certainly won't be doing business with them again over this incident.
Zero customer service. Takes about a month for delivery (if ever). Do they keep you informed about your order status? Hell no. My first, and last ever again, encounter with this joke of a company. Walmart will outlive this reject company and that ain't saying much. AVOID Cabela's!
The short answer: Cabela's s***s!
I bought a pair of Cabela's stocking foot waders about 5 years ago for fly fishing. My prior waders had been a pair of neoprene boot-foot from Cabela's. I got around 20 years out of them, so I expected new ones to last as well. I am busy, so am lucky if I get out once or twice a year. There are years are do not get out at all. The left leg of the new waders started leaking after the 3rd or 4th use. This was completely unacceptable, but I did not feel like dealing with their Customer Service, and didn't try to return them. The next year, the right leg started leaking. The old ones had also leaked in one leg—but not until I had used them many more times—and that leak was intermittent. Sometimes they leaked, sometimes they did not. I was hoping the leaks in this pair would be intermittent—but they are not.
I called their Customer Service recently to see about getting a refund. Apparently, Cabela's used to have a lifetime warranty on waders, but does not any more. The CS rep said that—since I do not have a receipt—I should take them to a local store. She said that if they did not show inappropriate wear, the store would refund my money. That seemed liked good customer service. These waders are immaculate. After each use, I dry them in my living room (and on my balcony, if it is nice) for days. I turn the cuff inside out. After the entire outside is dry, I turn the waders completely inside out and let the inside dry. I store them in a bag, in a closet in my living room.
I have tried to find the leaks by holding them under running water in the tub. Nothing. I suspect the leak is at the seam with the stocking foot. That is about the depth of water they start to leak in. But there is nothing apparent.
The experience at the store today in Sun Prairie was nothing short of horrible. The young gal at the desk—without even looking at them—said there was nothing she would do. I had to beg her to get a manager. A manager was paged. He—Doug, his name tag said—rolled his eyes at my tale of woe. He said the issue was no receipt, then said even with a receipt it had been too long. Though they were likely purchased during the era when the lifetime warranty was still being offered, he would not honor that. He also refused to look at them, and said how I cared for them and the number of uses were irrelevant. The amount of elapsed time was the issue. What a douche bag! I hate being lumped in with people who abuse a store's return policy. I get why time limits exist—though it should not apply to these waders. A return policy should be tailored to the individual, and the item in question. He offered me $50—take it or leave it.
I left it. And will not go back. This company s***s. Bass Pro has ruined what used to be a high quality business. And their CS people need some training.
OH! Doug's comeback was to tell me I was a jerk for not trying to get my money back on the Gander Mountain carry bag I used for my waders. A bag, mind you, that was bought in 1988—and is in perfect shape. Thank you, Gander Mountain.
I ordered an expensive item that I needed quickly. Their site said it was in stock and they said it would ship the same day. After multiple attempts to find out why I never received it I was told it actually was not in stock and had to be back ordered and they could not tell me when I may receive it. At present I do not know if I'll ever receive it. I hate such dishonesty and will not do business with them again.
I used to love going to Cabela's. Not only for hunting gear, firearms, or camp stuff, but just to tool around. I'd hit the Great Lakes Grill (for elk sandwiches and strawberry cake mostly) and the mini shooting range they had in there, dig through the Bargain Cave, stare at the taxidermy, or sprawl on cots in almost house-sized tents. I visited multiple times a month, sometimes a week. But all of that changed after the buy-out by Bass Pro Shops.
There was an electrical fire in the shooting range one evening. Instead of fixing it, they boarded the wall up as if nothing had been there. Prices on everything in the store rose. The Grill closed. All the little counters for watches, jewelry, optical, and in the Bargain Cave disappeared. As did much of homegoods and toys, and a lot of the backpacking gear. And the warmed, roasted nuts and popcorn usually for sale on the first floor.
In the Bargain Cave in particular the shelves were all taken down; no gun, archery, hunting, or camping-related items left. Only clothes, and those still over-priced. Much of the extensive hunting items and outdoor gear downstairs were replaced by cheaply-made spendy clothing and boating/fishing stuff. And selection in nearly every category was much thinner than before. A woman looking for tough, lightweight outdoor clothes or gear? Forget it.
I asked a staff member in camping for outdoor bathroom related gear for my next canoeing trip and he told me I'd have to go to a military surplus store for long-term outdoor hygiene needs. As for a camp trowel for digging a latrine-- I was recommended a heavy shovel that had a saw blade attachment on it.
Ultimately, I am very sad to see how much of the little things that made my Cabela's great gone. A Bass Pro Shops logo hovering over every shelf reminded me I wasn't really in the same store anymore.
1 st time shopping at cabelas and the last time Ordered a fishing filet table and 2 days after I ordered it as a gift it goes on sale for 20 $ less. Cabelas will not price match there own ad. Said i could return it and then repurchase it at the lower cost. Then I wouldn't receive it in time... what a great place. Won't do business here again.
Manager Gloria went above and beyond to help us with a gift card issue! Excellent customer service!'
Went to purchase a Lowrance Elite 12 ti2, put it in my cart; then the site came up and said if I sign up for their credit card I'll get a discount; I did so, went back to my cart and it was empty! Then said they're out of stock! (site said they had limited stock prior to me signing up for their credit card.
Totally wrong! Went to the online chat service; just got an oh well, sorry for the inconvenience.
Ordered an item from Cabela's. It came damaged in the box. They would NOT let me send it back. The only way to return it is to go to one of their store's. There's not a store within 50 miles.
Every time I look at their sight, I click on the "in stock only" button, get excited that they list the gun I want, only to have the rug pulled out from under me way down the description where it says that the item is not in stock, nor can it be shipped to store. Not doing it again.
I had a few giftcards loaded onto their online portal after they refunded my purchase which they could not fulfill. When I went to long back in after a while of not shopping on the site, I could not log in, IT told me they had deleted my account due to inactivity (Less than a year) and the money I had on the account could not be recovered. Bull$#*!. Feels a lot like theft, even if it was just $50. At least IT was polite.
Went to Cabela's to stock up on some hunting and fishing gear and the employees we're being way too nosy in my business. They followed me around one by one until I pulled out a wad of money and then I couldn't find an employee. They were out of stock of all the best items. One employee said they get stock in every week and another said they have a hard time getting anything in. I wasn't dressed with egg stains on my shirt and I was there to purchase which I did but not the amount I would have because of the way I was treated. Customer service is down the toilet especially at Cabela's.
Don't order anything online if you need it within a month. I ordered 2 rods on the 27th of March and they can't tell me when it will ship.
JUST BECAUSE THERE A BIG COMPANY THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS LIKE $#*!! THEY LIED TO US FOR OVER A WEEK TELLING US OUR ORDER HAD SHIPPED WHEN IT WAS IN BACKORDER THE QHOLE TIMW! OH WAIT THEY DONT DO BACK ORDERS THOUGH OR DO THEY! YES THEY DO AND THEY LIE ABOUT IT! GO TO TACKLE WAREHOUSE WHERE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! & I wouldn't have gave them the 1 start but I had to to post this review cabelas is a $#*! hole!
I ordered 3 game cams on February 2, received a happy shipment confirmation from Cabela's and nothing has arrived as of March 2. Their customer service department insists it is shipped yet FEDEX has NOT received the items yet. A label has been created only. I am beyond disappointed. Cabela's has been a go to source of gear for 20 years. I do not recommend this company to anyone. Since the merger with Bass Pro quality appears to have disappeared.
Order placed 12/15/2020. Three items ordered for elders Christmas present. Two items shipped and arrived 12/19. Third item was to be delivered 12/27 as per tracking number. On January 12 I received an email saying third item has been cancelled. Called Cabellas/Bass Pro, no explanation as to why the order was not delivered. Elderly Father still waiting for his Christmas present from his son. Makes his son (me) look very poor. In turn this reflects as a poor rating on Cabelas.
