The company has garnered significant criticism regarding its customer service and product handling, with numerous reports of damaged items upon delivery and inadequate support during the return process. Customers express frustration over lengthy wait times for refunds and poor communication, often feeling abandoned after issues arise. Despite some positive remarks about the efficiency of the ordering process and product variety, the overarching sentiment indicates a lack of reliability and accountability. This suggests a pressing need for the company to improve its quality control and customer service practices to enhance overall customer satisfaction.

I needed shower glass door. I made order online and I noticed it wasn't showing arrival date at all. I couldn't call them because it was after hours time. So I started to research and found out that build.com had very bad reviews. I started to freak out. It is true that it's nearly impossible to reach them over the phone but I used their chat on build.com and I got someone connected within minutes every time I was trying to get a hold of someone. I was told my order will arrive next Monday and to my surprise it did arrive on time and in whole one piece lol. The delivery person was kind enough to call me before he arrived and to bring the package right in front of my door. I am very happy, plus their price was ~20% less than other sellers.
I was reading the reviews before placing an order on this site, and I hesitated, I finally ordered, and my order came in 2 days with free shipping. Got an email when in shipped with a tracking number, an no problems at all.
I guess it all depends on what you order, and the other thing is unhappy people are more easily writing a bad review than happy people will write a good one
Ater placing an order online I recieved a call asking additional questions. I answered the quesitons and the person I was talking to told me my order was. I was told my order would be processed immedietly. About 30 minutes later I got an email saying my order was cancelled. I had to wait on the phone for 1 hour and I was forced to leave a message. No call back so I called again. Another 55 minutes and finally a pick up. All I was told is I have to pay with Paypal or Amazon even after my AMEX was charged. After talking to the manger she said there is nothing they can do. Stay away from this company they are bad business.
I ordered a Miseno bath tub door and was sent a Foremost door with Miseno stickers on the box. Paid premium price for a new item and got a old stock discontinued item. Spoke with build.com first lied too and told that the door was shipped by formost, then was sent up ladder and told they can rename there items and sell them … bad... bad... bad...
I ordered flooring on July 30th. I received an email on August stating that my order had left GA heading to me in FL. I received a phone call on August 7th telling me that I would get a call to schedule the delivery for Aug 10 or 11. I never received a call so I called Build.com they gave me the phone number for the shipper. The shipper told me on Aug 14th that they contracted with a smaller shipping company to deliver to communities but that they did not know where my order was. They opened an investigation regarding the missing shipment. They found the shipment on Aug 17th and delivered it on Aug 20. The pallet looked like it had been in an accident. The flooring was partially unwrapped, partially off the pallet, a number of boxes were torn and opened, and 3 cases were missing. I refused the order and after a 30 min wait on the phone reordered my flooring. Build.com will not expedite the order or compensate me for the delay/damage and I have begun paying on an item that I haven't even received. Later that day I received an email telling me that my flooring was on back order and there would be further delays... The good prices are not worth the hassles and stress of not receiving your order. Once this flooring is paid off (which might happen before I receive the product) I will not purchase anything from them again... should have read the reviews...
If you order something from Build.com, prepare for it to be yours even if it's defective. I ordered 2 Hunter ceiling fans and hired a licensed electrician to install them. The first one worked out great. The second one wobbled like crazy when turned on and there is no way to adjust it. When the electrician took it down so we could return it, the motor was extremely hot even though it was only on for about a minute. I first tried to go online chat and learned I was #41 in line After 15 minutes, I was # 32. So I tried going online to initiate a return. At first it could not find my order by # but finally located it. I answered all the questions and then got a message I couldn't do an online return because I had ordered as a guest (I had no acct there). It said to call their customer service. I was on hold 32 minutes when the line went dead. I tried again and the same thing happened after 22 minutes on hold. Since the website says they won't accept a return without an RA, I put the thing in the box and put it out on the curb for garbage pickup. I'll never do business with them again. A hard $100 lesson to learn.
Learn from my experience, and don't buy from build.com. I purchased a washer dryer. I checked in advance if they will deliver to the front door of the unit (1st story), build.com and the carrier confirmed that in advance - they told me they will deliver there.
Obviously the carrier didn't deliver to the front door, and wanted to leave it on the street. The tenant was unable to accept it. I tried reaching out to build.com and waited on the line for over 40 minutes. When I was answered the service was rude and they didn't care about anything of their or the carrier representations.
I purchased a stainless steel kitchen sink. Looked very nice on the picture, and accommodated my all needs. However, once received, the item contained a plastic drain which was not part of the description on the website (overstock.com) where I made this purchase. After speaking with representatives at overstock.com I was informed that the description of the item comes from the supplier of the sink, meaning build.com. Shen I asked to have this sink returned with a return shipping paid by the build.com company, my request was denied. Overstock, com offered only reimbursement but once I shipped the item at my own cost, they stated that the reimbursement can only be in form of a credit towards future purchases at overstock. Thus, long story short, I am stock with the shipping bill for the item purchased under false/incomplete representation.
I shipped the item at my own cost
I tried to leave a review for a product I bought, but was not allowed to do it without turning of my add blocker. You must be kidding me. This instead of a product review on build.com now a review here of build.com itself
I ordered two bathroom vanities from the company, both had significant issues. The larger of the two, priced over $1400 (72 inch vanity) was delivered with significant paint chipped off in several areas. The company took more than three weeks to get me the paint pens to attempt to repair it. In the meantime, we had to have it installed or spend hundreds more delaying tile setters, painters, etc. The paint pen arrived but didn't fix the problem. I explained to the company that it couldn't be easily removed at that point and asked for a $500 refund to compensate (about a 28 % discount from the purchase price.) They said they wouldn't do that but would instead send an entire new unit. Again, I explained, that would be much more costly for them, and I would have to have the Italian marble tile reset to accommodate the pull-out and reinstall. They sent it anyway but when the shipper called to inform me they were close, I said they would have to get the original unit out from upstairs as I explained to Build. Com customer service. Needless to say, I haven't heard from them since and it's been over 2 months.
The other item, a 60 inch two-sink vanity arrived with one drawer damaged and the hinges broken on one drawer. Called the company to send replacements and they said they "do do that." What? No other options. Crazy.
Not only are this companies products sketchy and can be of extremely poor quality, their customer service is atrocious. The $2350 we spent on vanities with the company turned out to be a waste of money (money that we certainly don't have to just say, "oh well" and move on.
With so many companies to choose from, I recommend you tick this one off you list... for anything.
They say item is available and then they send you an email every week saying it's back ordered. Don't get fooled by low prices. You will never get the item.
I ordered a sink and it showed up in 20 different pieces. I called in and was left on hold for over 40 minutes and gave up. I tried their chat service and had zero response. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!
I can't preface this any other way but do not buy from Build.com. Purchased a chandelier three months ago. Stated it would ship in 2-3 days. Came and went, no update. Finally, 15 days later, I get a notification that it would be delayed 1-2 months. COVID related no worries. I work with customer service to find a replacement, it had a 1-2 week lead time, perfect. I get a message 2 weeks later saying it would be delayed 6 weeks. I called and they said the supplier has had issues and various other excuses. I said, it it comes in at the time, I will hold the order but if you think it will be pushed out, please let me know. I emailed the rep last week asking if it was still on schedule for shipping this week, he said its on track. Nothing shipped. Emailed again and he said the company said maybe 11 days but he couldn't be sure. The lead times listed on the website are inaccurate and they are bad a communicating to the customer. If you're planning a remodel, do not purchase from them as you will not get your items in a timely manner and the customer service is atrocious.
Bought the washer and dryer set. They claimed both the items in stock and ships in 2-4 days. Received the dryer 10th day but washer is still back ordered after 3 weeks. Their website still shows that they have 70+ in stock. I wish I read their reviews before ordering.
Wrong products sent, lost shipments and terrible customer service. You will be on hold forever with no resolution.
Order held at first - had to call and wait on phone for over 1 hr just to order. Now its "backordered" even though website says 121 on hand. Was supposed to ship 7/30 and have not heard a word. Have now been on hold for 55 minutes waiting, just to get a status update. Ridiculous. Would give zero stars if possible.
It is so true, you get what you pay for... Even though Build.com offered the cheapest price by@$1+/sq ft for the tile I ordered, the whole purchase & delivery experience was horrible & delayed my project. I received multiple erroneous delivery statuses pushing out the delivery date. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get through to speak with anyone to get clarity. When my order was finally delivered after 18 days, 6 boxes of large porcelain tile were *******@12 feet away from my front door on the sidewalk! The delivery guy ignored me & left when I called out to him when I saw what was happening. Unbelievable! Next time I'll just order from another store & try to get a price match or just pay more for better service! It is NOT worth the stress... Thank God I received the right product after this experience...
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST SERVICE!
Long wait times to be connected! (Ive waited as long as 45 mins+ NUMEROUS TIMES)!
Reps that refuse to follow up after offering you their extension for faster support!
Returns are a cluster F* of wasted time and money!
Still awaiting a refund that was first issued as a credit on my Build account vs. the credit from which it was purchased as I carefully instructed!
The overall experience with this online retailer is sub-par to say the least!
COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME & MONEY!
One of the items I ordered arrived broken and it was impossible to get in touch with anyone at customer service either by phone, email or live chat. I cannot understand how they can still be in business. I will never use them again.
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! I thought I was ordering a mini freezer. The cost was $926 after taxes and fees, but to my dismay when i opened the package it was the frame for a freezer.
I was completely dissatisfied as the price and even the profile site suggested that I was purchasing a whole mini freezer. What completely has me irate is when i called build.com to return the item they said I could not return it because this specific item does not take returns. I have no words to explain the dissatisfaction I have for this company and their return policy. Especially after spending close to a $1000 on a product that i was misleading into believing was a whole mini freezer and not just the frame for the freezer. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!
Answer: Please respond to written review on them...
Answer: Do Not order from them. Horrible customer service and quality.
Answer: I don't know how you can actually get them to answer the correct lead time. I received an estimated ship date when I ordered an American Standard faucet. Then, they emailed me 3 more times with delays. I called them after the first delay, and while I was on the phone with the agent, she placed me on hold and called American Standard, and said they told her that there would be no more delays. After this last delay, I called to cancel the order. They said they would "request cancellation" from American Standard. The big problem is they charged my account IMMEDIATELY when I ordered the product, but won't refund the money until American Standard confirms the cancellation. The service agent i spoke with escalated to her supervisor, and the supervisor is the worst person I have ever encountered when dealing with customer service.
Answer: Sorry to hear that. What finish were you trying to match? Usually its best ti use the same brand name when trying to match a finish, such as a Moen faucet to match a Moen towel bar or towel ring. That is because everybody has their own technique of making their products. I wonder if the finish on your new American Standard faucet is doesn't match because the other item you're matching in not made by American Standard. You should be able to return it if it hasn't been installed in any way and you still have the original packaging. The return items page has complete directions that make it fairly easy to send items back. Good Luck! Anthony
Answer: I have ordered several times from them. I have never had a problem! I have even returned an item before, no problem. Glad i didnt see these reviews before I ordered because they do not reflect the experiences I have had! I am a happy customer
Answer: Don't order from them. The quality is horrible and they sent me a damaged piece and I'm responsible for bringing it to the dump.
