Long story short I tried to return some cabinet knobs that cost me $27.79. They told me they would send me a shipping label but they would minus $12.12 for shipping. By the way, I paid $6.99 to have them shipped to me so not sure why it costs more to return?
Then she tells me I will get a refund of $8.68. I paid $27.79 minus $12.12 so my refund should be $15.67, right? No its $8.68! The customer service person gave me some ridiculous explanation which made no sense so I said forget it. I don't need the $8.68

There are only so many places you can buy most hardware anymore and they all seem to have the same prices Build is right there with the rest of them so they are competitive but I got their credit line through Comenity and it literally took 6 weeks for their charges to come off my credit report which is a significantly negative issue and does away with any of the advantages to working with them. I reached out before sending this and they stated that they immediately report to all the credit agencies but I paid off all of my debts at the same time Everything else fell off in 2 weeks or the end of the month Again for them it was 6 weeks
I had written a scathing review about their business practices and lack of professionalism. Within 48 hours, an associate from the office of the president contacted me and rectified the matter and arranged for credit for all returned items. That restored my confidence and am once again referring clients to them for purchases. The new pro rep Amber is excellent to work with. Well done folks.
Working with Brock Hawkins over the phone and online for our order was a dream. He answered our questions and then some. Build.com has a great inventory and we ordered 3 kitchen appliances with savings that matched the competitor.
I bought almost $2000 worth of product and overall was pleased. However, one of the light globes developed a crack on it and I sent a note in. The response I got was that they are only a third party seller and I must contact the manufacture for any warranty issues.
What poor customer service... let's just send a customer to someone else rather than handling it after they sold it to me.

I ordered an American Standard faucet on 1/27, they still show a 1-3 week ship date for that particular faucet. They initially said the product would be shipped on 2/14. On 2/14 they sent an email and said the product would be delayed and shipped on 3/4. I called them and asked if it would be delayed any further. They placed me on hold and called American Standard, and assured me it would not be delayed further. On 2/23 they said it would be delayed until 3/11. Now, on 3/5, they said it would be delayed until 3/21. I called to cancel the order and they said they would "request cancellation" from American Standard, but will not refund my money that they charged on 1/27 until American Standard cancels it. I do not understand why they immediately billed me for the item, but cannot immediately refund my money! When I was speaking to customer service, I asked to speak to her manager. The person I was transferred to, the "so-called" office of the president, hung up on me! Poor customer service!
Not only does their customer service remind me of customer service from the 1960s aka "your business is very important to us, just to expect us to solve any problems, but their review system is rigged. I attempted to rate a product I bought with 3 stars and curiously, their system "is not working. Please try again later" So I did, three times. Funny how when I changed my rating to 5 stars-there were no ratings less than 5 stars on most of the products I looked at, it immediately went through.
I was shopping for a bistro set and they priced it wrong. Instead of honoring the mistake, they canceled my order at the last possible moment so now I am out of time and will have to find something more expensive at a local store. When I talked with customer service they were very rude and quick to brush me off. I wouldn't recommend them.
Island pendants were ordered and installed by my builder while I was out of town. Upon return, I found the pendants to be way short. Build.com refuses to accept the return because they were installed. While that may be their policy, it was Catherine, a supervisor for customer service that had horrible customer service. She was short, curt, unaccommodating... just in general not the type of person that should be in customer service. Being that over 3,000 worth of product was ordered for the Casita that is being built, you would think that she would have had an amicable solution. NOT the way to keep customers!
I was able to get the quality soft close cabinet hinges I needed! Shipping was fast and order was accurate.
I use Build as a supplemental supplier to the remodeling business I have. The shipping has always been flawless, and that's good, but the customer service is what seals the deal for me. If there's ever a problem with a product, they take care of it in a very fair and quick manner.
I purchased an ivory colored decora timer. 1-5-10-20-30 minutes. Looks great & works well to turn off the bathroom exhaust fan. There's a blue light that illuminates the minute display chosen. Shipped quickly. Would buy again.
During a master bath remodel we ordered many things from Build.com. They were very responsive and so helpful and the whole process
It is a very modern look. It is sleek, not huge and clunky looking. The spout is lower than others I considered so water does not splatter all over and outside the sink. It has an aerator which helps with splatter since the long neck is much taller than my old faucet.
My contractor recommended Build.com for our master bath remodel. We were very satisfied with the products, selection and service. When it came time for delivery of the tub, we were contacted in advance for a delivery time & date. The delivery truck arrived exactly when they were scheduled to.
The only downside to shopping online is that you can not touch/feel the quality of the products and have to trust that what you are getting is what is noted in the description and from other consumers reviewing the product. I did go to a bathroom showroom to get an idea of the products available. We were fortunate with our selections and would shop here again for future projects.
Just finished remodeling our kitchen. We decided to change the handles for the cabinets at the last minute, and found exactly what we were looking for on Build.com at a price about 1/3 of our local building supply. They arrived within 2 days also. The same with an exhaust vent that wasn't available at our local building supply. We ordered it from Build.com and again, it arrived within a couple of days. We HIGHLY recommend Build.com.
I have ordered a variety of products from build.com. The items in stock are shipped quickly, but for items not in stock, they do not seem to have a handle on when they will be available. I ordered Emtek drawer pulls, which were not in the warehouse, and got several dates of when to expect them. In the end, they arrived earlier than the latest promised date, which was good, but I wish I could have received an accurate date in the first place. I ordered two different switch plates; one was available, the other was backordered. I received the backordered one right away, and then received the same one again at the date I was given at the time of the order. I never did receive the one that was not backordered. I have returned several items. In two cases, the refund was processed within the timeframe stated. In the other, I had to call almost a month after the returned items were received and the customer service rep had to process the refund herself since the normal refund process had not worked for reasons she could not explain. It's a great site as they have a wide variety of products, but they aren't always the cheapest, and given that the service is spotty, I'm not sure how much I'll be purchasing from them in the future.
I'm building a new house, I bought everything including the kitchen sink from Build.com. They were a pleasure to deal with from the beginning, from their website when I was shopping, to their customer service reps when I placed my large order. They literally had everything I needed for plumbing my whole house except the plumber and pipes. Build. Com's prices could not be beat, I compared their prices to many others, infact others had a lesser product for more money. Building a new house I saved about $12,000 from the next best priced seller for the exact same products. I received everything in good condition, correctly, and on time or faster. A++ for Build.com.

Answer: I don't know how you can actually get them to answer the correct lead time. I received an estimated ship date when I ordered an American Standard faucet. Then, they emailed me 3 more times with delays. I called them after the first delay, and while I was on the phone with the agent, she placed me on hold and called American Standard, and said they told her that there would be no more delays. After this last delay, I called to cancel the order. They said they would "request cancellation" from American Standard. The big problem is they charged my account IMMEDIATELY when I ordered the product, but won't refund the money until American Standard confirms the cancellation. The service agent i spoke with escalated to her supervisor, and the supervisor is the worst person I have ever encountered when dealing with customer service.
Answer: Sorry to hear that. What finish were you trying to match? Usually its best ti use the same brand name when trying to match a finish, such as a Moen faucet to match a Moen towel bar or towel ring. That is because everybody has their own technique of making their products. I wonder if the finish on your new American Standard faucet is doesn't match because the other item you're matching in not made by American Standard. You should be able to return it if it hasn't been installed in any way and you still have the original packaging. While we do have an occasional defect get sent out, we are always quick to send a new one out to the customer.
