They automatically sign you up for it monthly and you have no other option, which usually is not a big deal so you go through with it but that's when you find out there's no easy way to cancel. They keep your card number you cannot remove it it's there forever. You can't easily click cancel anywhere they make you email them manually and the only responses you get back are about upselling or finding some sort of compromise to keep you paying. They ignore your requests to cancel over and over and just come up with other ideas to get you to not cancel. After a while i was able to get on the phone with them and after repeatedly saying no please just cancel they finally did it - but i hate that they still have my card info that i can't delete. AVOIDDDDDD.
If they weren't so scummy about payments and trying to keep you involuntarily paying it would have been a great company.
I tried to use Bright Cellars to arrange a family Zoom-based wine/cheese tasting, mailing identical sets to 6 parties. I started planning this months in advance, first with Hanna, who sent me to Kevin who sent me to Maria. Somehow, they managed to omit the order to my daughter in CA. Having planned the shipments to go out nearly 2 weeks in advance, I was not yet alarmed, and I immediately drew this to their attention.
Over 50 emails later (including multiple assurances that all was well, when it clearly was not), my daughter's shipments did not arrive in time.
If you are thinking of using Bright Cellars for an "experience", I suggest slamming your genitals in a car door. The "experience" is similar, but you can make sure it happens on time.
The wines are delivered on time with good customer service. Nice Experience. Really Highly recommended.
Entered my email on a questionnaire while bored, and of course got spammed. I figure that will happen when you give out your email. No biggie, just unsubscribe. But just like illegal scammers, hitting unsubscribe just seems to confirm your address is legit and nothing else. They will not stop filling my inbox with spam. From the reviews (and frankly, the business model in general), I can tell this is also how they react to cancellations for their "services." STAY FAR AWAY.
Mediocre wine from a small set of winemakers that you can't find any info on. I rated one wine undrinkable and they sent another bottle from same winery. You can do better buying $20 bottle locally.
I had read online about how some customers suspected that Bright Cellars is simply a larger company that owns several smaller wineries that make subpar wine and use those wines as the basis for their supply. I was skeptical of this, owing it to pretentious wine drinkers who perhaps expected a bit too much. But after trying a shipment of wines myself, I'd have to say that they sound right.
I got four bottles. The first one I tried was "Wandering Giants." It was a mediocre wine with an okay up front flavor but absolutely no development or aftertaste. A $10 bottle at best, and that's being unfair to most $10 bottles I've tried...
Next was Vanishing Act. Appropriate name because after I tried one sip, it vanished down my sink! Strong fruity note up front, like biting into fresh fruit, but faded into that generic rotten grapes aftertaste with no complexity or development.
Then I tried Supergenre, one of the bottles that EVERYONE seems to pair with regardless of the answer on the survey. It was actually an okay wine! Some tanins up front, decent flavor but no development or complexity.
Finally I tried the wine that was my "best match." I'll give them points for that given that it was the best wine out of the bunch, but not a bottle I'd pay more than $10 for.
Overall the wines given were mediocre, lacked depth or flavor, and are basically throwaway shelf fillers that work better as cooking wines than drinking wines. And I don't think you join a wine club to cook with your wines...
Pros:
- Perhaps the algorithm they use to predict what wines you like actually works.
- Getting your wine delivered to you is very, very cool.
Cons
- Not a good value at all
- Qualify of wines does not justify the price tag
- Potentially shady business practices
Overall I would recommend going to your local liquor store and buying four different kinds of wines you've never tried before every month instead of paying for this.
As I suspected - good thing I cancelled the bank card, because they sent me an email about the "payment failed". This, despite having TWICE cancelled their service.
Made the mistake of trying them because of a youtuber plug. Called and cancelled, got an email confirming cancellation. Fast forward a month, and they're taking money out of my account again, and claiming that I didn't cancel - despite me having the email from their concierge stating that I wouldn't be contacted again!
Now I have to cancel that bankcard to keep their grubby mitts off my money. STAY AWAY!
So I tried brightcellars after getting a discount code for my first order. I liked the selections of wine I got a lot but couldn't continue the subscription due to hard times from covid 19. They were very good with canceling my acount, but I was late with the email in the month and got billed for the wine. I expressed this and I received a full refund. However, the wine had already shipped and I recieved it, with the refund. I called to pay for my order, as I did not feel comfortable keeping 6 bottles of wine, but they acknowledge the miscommunication on their part and let me keep the wine. I've been very pleased with the quality of wine overall as well.
On top of being no help when they entered my address wrong on their packaging (which I was triple sure my address was correct) they charged me after I canceled my order. I even received confirmation that it was canceled and then I was charged even more next month.
I've read some reviews on here but I thought their service was overall great. It states that they process the next order up to 10 days before the next shipment date so that means you must cancel prior to processing (which I did). I thought they did a good job selecting wines based on my interests and questionnaire responses. Love the descriptive card inserts and chilling temperature recommendations! I just don't think I'm much of a "wine drinker". They said they are going to add more services in the future. I think it would be fun to do and split with friends for a monthly party once we can all be social again!
I took a chance, but I have to admit this was a complete failure! I gave it two months, and all I received was awful wine. I have requested that my subscription be cancelled several times, by phone and via email. Guess what, they are still taking $98 from my bank account fatefully! I am requesting a stop payment first thing Monday morning! So do not be suckered in, like I was!
I signed up for a wine delivery due to a deal I got. My wife and I enjoyed the wine we received, but it took forever for us to get it. My card was charged more than 2 weeks before our wine was delivered, and shipping itself only took 3 days. The website made it clear that it could take 7 business days to ship the wine due to COVID, but it took a fair bit longer than that. They are quite happy to take your money, but don't deliver in an reasonable time.
Customer service was pretty responsive when it came to quelling my frustration about the wine not getting shipped. After sending them an e-mail (it's that or phone) to cancel my subscription, however, I got no response. I can no longer log into my account on the site, so with no confirmation I can just assume that they've cancelled it. If not, they can expect a dispute.
I tried Bright Cellars because a Youtuber I really support endorsed it but that was a mistake. The wine tasted awful, they all were bottled the same which leads me to think its all just labeling to make you think it's different. Requested to cancel account immediately and they "cancelled" which means they charge me the next month. Im weary reading the other reviews about ever getting a refund.
Customer service takes 3-5 business days to respond to email, which is bad practice even if you are a decent business. My first box contained very mediocre wine, delivered over 2 weeks late with no communication as to when it would arrive and no notice other than an email when it finally arrived. (Who leaves a big box marked WINE on a porch clearly visible from the street in a crime-infested city in the middle of a pandemic?)
Still waiting on my 2nd box for which I paid over a $100. It's over 10 days late and I have been waiting for a response from customer service for over 5 days now. I cancelled my subscription, of course.
I joined in late March after receiving a promo link from a friend. Wine delivered to my door during this crummy time, "wine not", I thought.
I placed my order, excited, but after further thought tried to cancel the next day. With COVID, I reassessed and thought it might be best to skip extras like this until I could see how things shook out. When I emailed this time, I got a response -- unfortunately, you have 24 hours to cancel after placing the order or they won't honor. I was at hour 25 when I reached out. Being totally honest with myself, I wasn't totally bummed by this but it felt like a strange customer experience. No biggie. I'll still try it while requesting to cancel the account from future orders.
The first shipment was really late. I received probably close to 30 different emails at different times saying my order had shipped (it had not after further clarifying with a rep). I got wine and cheese pairings. The cheese arrived several days before the wine. Nothing amazing or to write home about.
Time went by. I got another email saying my next order was about to place which, after being told I was canceled. Odd. Things happen. I emailed the rep and they seemingly took care of it. Another few days went by and to my surprise, I see I've got another email saying my order was placed and ready to ship soon. And friends, this is where it went south.
I sent several emails over the course of a week asking for the account to be shut down and the order canceled and refunded. I called 3 times, left voicemails... the whole 9 yards. I had been GHOSTED by a company that at this point, wrongfully told me twice that I've been canceled. Eventually, I was able to get a rep on Instagram of all places... they supposedly canceled the account but I won't hold my breath after still not hearing back from a single email or voicemail; it's been probably a full week. A simple apology would've gone a long way. This experience has surely soured my taste for their service and I will not be back. 0/10 - do not recommend. Choose another service out there and save yourself the trouble, as once you're a member, it's impossible to cancel.
While the wines they provide are amazing, I will give them that, there is absolutely no way to cancel or even remove financial information from their site. I tried putting my wine order on hold for a couple months while I'm figuring out financials during COVID quarantine. Not only was it completely disregarded, when I asked for some clarific On why I've been charged I was met with zero response. I continued to be charged multiple times with no response from their concierge number or email. After trying three additional times I still have not been contacted and Obviously my bank won't put a hold until it actually processed all the way through. Shiesty business practices ensue as there is no warning on my order either so that I could ensure i could account for the charge. Even companies like hello fresh and imperfect produce and first leaf cellars have provided this.
I saw this was a fabfitfun partner and had an offer for $50 off my first order. With that, each bottle of wine came out to about $10 each... so my order was about $40. However, when I researched the wines they recommended, I found out they all only retailed for about the same price ($10) at other major wine stores. If you have the 50$ deal, it's worth it, but otherwise, it seems like a rip off if you are paying the full $90 monthly cost. After finding this out, and reading multiple bad reviews, I will be trying to cancel my subscription.
Pretty much as it says in the title. Requested cancellation 4/28. Received a "confirmation" of cancellation via email on 4/30. Still charged on 5/5, and a double order at that. Called and spoke to "Patience" who said she would process the cancellation and refund. We'll see how well that goes, but I'm unsurprisingly skeptical.
I ordered a delivery of wine through a promotion. Needless to say, the delivery did NOT get shipped out in the mentioned time window. The customer service team promised me an extra bottle of wine for it not getting shipped out and for them not giving me the best available promotion. The order shipped out four days later, without the extra bottle of wine. When I reached out to customer service they said they couldn't add the wine to this order because it was already shipped, which was false. They say they will give me an extra one with the next order, but there will be no next order because I do not trust them. Scam
So, I signed up for this wine club after seeing an ad online. After I signed up I checked the reviews and was horrified with what I saw. I even went so far as to look at employee reviews of what it was like to work for this company and what I found shocked me- the way this company makes money is by people forgetting to cancel their memberships, employees are reprimanded if they allow members to cancel, etc. I immediately decided to cancel my membership (or at least try- based on other reviews cancelling with this company is next to impossible). I sent an email to cancel, since I placed an order on April 9th and and as of April 20th I had still not received a shipment notification. There is no way to cancel the membership yourself online which is a big red flag. The email response I got on April 20th was- hello, your order is expected to ship out within the next 24 hours! I told him that I was not satisfied with the service since I placed my order on April 9th and it still had not shipped. To my surprise he followed what I asked for and cancelled my my membership on April 21st. I am not sure if they are being more lenient due to the coronavirus pandemic but I'll take what I can get. I got lucky and was able to get out my membership with this shady business- but I still had not received any tracking info for my shipment I paid for. I did not receive a tracking email until April 24th! 3 days after the wine concierge told me my order would ship out within the next 24 hours. They clearly lied to try and keep my business. Stay away from this company- they are extremely shady and manipulative.
Answer: Sorry! It's going to take forever for you to get in touch with them but I would go ahead an write concierge@brightcellars to put in a cancellation.
Answer: Just send an email to the concierge asking them to cancel. They will reply asking if you'd like to postpone your shipments. Just say no, you want to cancel. And they will cancel your account.
Answer: 4 to 5 days. It is usually pretty quick. They definitely keep you posted and supply tracking info so you are up to date.
Answer: Yes! And they left it on my porch without calling me. Fortunately, I noticed the email before it was stolen
Answer: Yes and No. While the company would prefer not to, for obvious reasons, they are also very customer service oriented and will work with you.
