The wine is fair at best. You get the same bottles every month and they taste cheap. Many times I have poured them down the drain.
My problem is trying to cancel the subscription. I have called, emailed and even tried snail mail. Look on their website there is NO WAY TO CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION... once they get your credit card BEWARE. I am still trying to cancel my subscription. The wine is bad
If you know anything about wine, you will steer clear of this subscription. The wines are bought from Wine Direct for about $3.00-$4.00 and are sold for $15 min.
They also cannot give any information about the vineyards where they get the wine or how it's grown, because the don't even have that information. Sad.
I was skeptical at first of my wine selection chosen for me. However, my wines ended up being delicious and they made me being to be a bit mor adventurous with my wine types. I ended up having to cancel my subscription for financial reasons. The wine concierge that helped me postpone my account was extremely helpful and kind. If a monthly shipment isnt for you, they do have bimonthly and quarterly shipments available. I have nothing but good things to say about this company. I HIGHLY recommend trying it.
Great wine good price point, super helpful concierge service. Always there when you need something especially to help update wine cart
Received Bright Cellars as a gift, delivery was quick from their Illinois warehouse with cool neat packaging. Wines were super and high end. Highly recommend
Took the quiz and of all the wines they said I would like, there wasn't one that I would like (at least based on other wines of those types). They pointed me towards light, fruity wines, when I like only full-bodied, dry wines (like Cab Sauv and heavily wooded Chardonnay). Definitely not an accurate approach for identifying wines people will like...
The algorithm that they use to try and match you to wines is so rancid and off base that the initial (introductory) bottles were so bad two went immediately down the drain, two we tried for almost and month to cook with and after destroying three meals they also went down the drain and the last one we just threw out without opening.
Even if they gave the wine too you free it would be over-priced
The second order (sent after we had actually tried unsuccessfully to cancel- Sitting on hold for 15 minutes only to be transferred to voice mail on two separate occasions.) We were even more disappointed then with the first.
I really enjoy Bright Cellars. I was a little hesitant at first, but after my first few orders I'm really into it. In my first order, I only got two bottles that I really liked. The next order I got three I liked, and since then I've enjoyed almost all of them. And then when I don't like a certain wine, I just cork it and bring it to a party where it gets happily drank.
A big thing is that I started by drinking mostly reds, because that's what I thought I was supposed to do. But I kept enjoying whites more than the reds, and now I almost exclusively drink white wine. Idk, maybe it's a body thing or dryness thing. Or maybe I just prefer citrus to other fruit flavors. Or maybe I just don't like leather and dirt flavors.
The biggest hassle for Bright Cellars is the delivery, having to be present to sign for a package since it's booze. But they gave me a great solution to this. There is a FedEx just a couple blocks outside of my commute home, so I just stop by when the package arrives and pick it up. And they hold it for like a week so I don't even need to get it any certain day.
Bright Cellars is great, it helped me expand my wine palate, and when I don't like a wine, someone else almost always does. Recommend.
This company is amazing. The customer service team is incredibly helpful and I even found a new wine varietal that I love but had never heard of called Bonarda. I'm a mom of 3, so I really appreciate that they help me get out of my comfort zone and try wines I wouldn't take the time to choose on my own. A little box of me time every month!
Bright Cellars gets me through every month. They send quality and unique wines that never disappoint. Its great not having to go to the store and face the challenge of picking out decent wine after a long work week. I just come home and my package is waiting for me! I have recommended their service to all of my friends and fellow wine lovers.
This was my first time ordering wine from bright cellar. The wines they sent were really good. Way better than l expected for the price. Their costumer service is amazing, very helpful and quick. I think l will continue to buy my wine from bright cellars from now on.
I received my first shipment of cheeses from Bright Cellars. All are delicious and fresh. Selection was varied and I get to try cheeses that I have not tried before. The company is easy to work with and would be great for gift-giving.
Thanks!
I thought it was so cool that Bright Cellars has you take a little quiz to kind of see what your taste buds like and with that fancy algorithm they can figure out some wines you might like! It worked wonderfully! I like wines more on the sweet side and I'm pretty picky so I was a bit nervous but they nailed it! It's fun because I never know which wine to try next and this gives you 5 to check out! Give it a try!
If the wines being sent to you were even remotely interesting it would be worth it. If the customer service was great, it would be worth it. If the wines were actually quality, it would be worth it. Instead, you get terrible customer service making it impossible to cancel, and you get wines that basically are Apothic Red/White and have absolutely no flavor to them. All you are paying for is the convenience of having the wine shipped to you, which honestly, I'd rather peruse the shelves of a liquor store than waste money on a sub-par rebranded wine that is barely drinkable. Maybe the sweet wines are good, but I don't drink sweet wine. All of the dry wines are entirely unremarkable and not worth the price in any way.
The basics: Pay $60 a month for 4 unique winds from around the world.
THE WINE: The most important part! The wines are literally from all over - California, Chile, Spain, France, Italy, Washington, South Africa... so many places. I love seeing what I get each month, as they're always things I could never find at the grocery store. And at $60 for 4, they come out to be $15 each. For unique finds that aren't at Vons or Ralphs, that's worth it to me! Plus, anytime I don't enjoy a wine I review it, and I never get that wine again.
You give feedback, they listen: Each month, I review my wines. The company really uses this feedback; some wines I've loved end up in a box a few months later, which I like. They also give you good options for reds vs whites, or if you like a mix.
Need help: They are still a small company run by real PEOPLE, so someone always responds personally if I reach out. They will happily skip the month for you, or put your account on hold as long as you ask.
Rewards: Every time you review you wines, you rack up "points". These points can add up to a free bottle of wine, a wine opener, a t-shirt, glasses, etc... I am saving up for the cheese box, personally:)
I'm surprised reading a lot of these reviews - I have never seen shady ads, or felt pressured to buy something extra, or anything weird like that. I really enjoy this service, have been using it for about a year and a half now, and happily recommend it to anyone who wants to try new things :)
In the interest of full disclosure, I am not currently a member of Bright Cellars, although I was for a little more than a year. My decision not to continue receiving monthly shipments was based on a change in my personal situation and had nothing to do with anything Bright Cellars did or didnt do.
That being said, as I former member, I still get notified of specials of which I routinely take advantage. My customer service experiences have always been positive. The company notifies you of every step of your order. Orders are promptly filled and shipped out immediately and you are provided with tracking information. I have received all my shipments in less than a week after ordering.
On to the wine itself. When I was a member, I enjoyed the variety I received and the opportunity to expand my palate. You can rate the wines and get more selections based on your ratings or just let Bright Cellar send you a random selection. Ive only had one wine I didnt like, but that was a white and Im not partial to whites. It was still a good experience to try something new.
Some reviewers have mentioned the cost. Is it expensive? I guess that depends. You can get a decent bottle of wine basically anywhere for $10 - $15. But with Bright Cellars, you are paying for more than just the wine. You receive wine notes and pairing suggestions, personalized selections, exposure to wines not found just anywhere, and fantastic customer service.
Bottom line, give it a try and get some good wines.
First thing - it is a little tedious to cancel. The 'concierge' launches a shpeel about how you can, instead, just skip months and only ship when you want. That's not what I asked. I asked to cancel completely. I understand they need to try and save the sale but $70 a MONTH for 4 bottles of wine... no thanks
Second thing - $70 a month on 4 wines MIGHT be okay if they were sending you amazing wines. But they aren't. What you get is 4 wines that have been stripped of their original labels and then pasted with new ones so that you cannot buy them anywhere else. At BEST, these bottles are $10 wines.
You decide.
Promoted ad on reddit that starts with TDL "today i learned" to mimic a real post, then says students created a survey to predict what wine would would like with 7 questions, have to sign up to get results, with no mention of the company being a monthly wine club, then get spam emails after that. I hear once you sign up that make it very difficult to unsubscribe.
I've been a member of Bright Cellars for over a year now. I'm a professional chef and have worked in the hospitality industry for many years. I'm a stickler for quality, customer service and value for price paid. 3 things to know: wines are great and your feedback after each shipment is taken into consideration for future wine selections. Customer service is exceptional, I asked that my deliveries be paused for a few months to follow a keto/low carb diet. Not only was it not a problem but I received reminder emails monthly letting me know that I could resume when I was ready each month before shipment! Lastly the wines I've received have been great overall. I've had some great wines to pair for dinner parties, cook with and just to enjoy solo. I've given a membership as graduation and wedding gifts and they each loved it. I couldn't recommend Bright Cellars more, I enjoy it.
Very impressed with the level of service! Super responsive staff. Truly enjoying the wines they have selected for me. Recommending to friends and family.
Answer: Sorry! It's going to take forever for you to get in touch with them but I would go ahead an write concierge@brightcellars to put in a cancellation.
Answer: Just send an email to the concierge asking them to cancel. They will reply asking if you'd like to postpone your shipments. Just say no, you want to cancel. And they will cancel your account.
Answer: 4 to 5 days. It is usually pretty quick. They definitely keep you posted and supply tracking info so you are up to date.
Answer: Yes! And they left it on my porch without calling me. Fortunately, I noticed the email before it was stolen
Answer: Yes and No. While the company would prefer not to, for obvious reasons, they are also very customer service oriented and will work with you.
