The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

I booked a car with Booking.com, and prepaid for the car. The flight got delayed for 1 hour, and when I arrived, the car rental company did not offer me a car and asked me to call Booking. I called Booking, who told me that the car I paid for is given to someone else and I can book another one in the next 48 hours.
At that moment (23:50,11:50 PM), I searched for a car via booking.com at Barcelona airport, but there were no results available. This meant I was going to be stuck in the airport with no open car rental service and a hotel reservation 140 km away. I started to talk to rental offerings in person and found one out of pure luck to start my holiday. Booking.com, however, said there will not be any refund on the prepaid fee.
So you pay for a car, the flight gets delayed, and Booking keeps your money for a service they did not provide. This would be applicable every time the flight has > 1-hour delay. Easy profit for them, great business model. All, of course, at your expense. Do not use Booking.com.
I have used booking.com once and I will never be using again. When booking a room it stated a price and once paying booking.com raised the price! And the reason i booked the place specifically was because of the okay price. I tried writing to them but they have not responded and I tried calling the number they provided and it does not work. Will never be using booking.com ever again. Also not to mention that on most rooms it states "2 rooms left" which is not the case at all as we were the only people staying in the hotel! We also noticed that the places they have on their site are quite misleading with false information about the venues regarding amenities etc. If you want a nice holiday do not book through booking.com.
Booking.com are deceiving in the way they advertise rooms. Before I booked my room it said it was discounted and it also said that it was one of the only rooms left. After I booked the room I was charged full price and when I got to my hotel, I was the only guest. It is also difficult to cancel bookings and to contact customer service. I have tried messaging and calling but haven't got a response and the customer service numbers do not work. I would recommend booking your accomodation through another company.
Bookings.com tried to over charge me a ludicrous fee for an issue with my flight that should have been considered force majeure. Meanwhile when I spoke with the airline directly they were very understanding and charged me a.25 of the fee Bookings.com tried to charge me. I will never use them again.
I recently stayed in a Hilton hotel in Nashville Tennessee (Homewood Vanderbilt)we booked through booking.com while my cousin booked the same room for the same stay through Priceline
After check in I discovered they paid over $300 less that we did
They likely made more money than Hilton did off of us, since Hilton has taxes, employee costs etc
Priceline was over $300 cheaper and still made a profit!
When I complained at the desk Hilton manager said I would have to complain to booking.com, since we booked the room through them, yet I gave my credit card to a Hilton employee at the hotel
This casts Hilton in a bad light as well, since they seem to approve of their price gouging partner! Time to see if Marriott has a rewards program! Screw Hilton and booking.com

I booked a serviced apartment at a hotel in Athen's called - Athens Smart Central via booking.com - on arrival at 11.30pm at night with 2 children, we were unable to access the apartment as their was no key left as per the instuctions, the promised attended reception was unattended. Calling and emailing the numbers and email addresses provided received no response and I was left standing in a dark Athens alley at midnight with 2 children and our luggage.
Subsequent follow up with the Athens Smart Central resulted in abuse and threats when we asked for our money back. Follow up with booking.com has resulted in no response.
For your own safety do not trust this booking site.
Booked a hotel in downtown Chicago. As soon as we arrived it had a sign that said,"$#*!" displayed. All check-in automated, which took like 20 mins. It is the Citizen M Hotel. Location was good. Hotel was totally wrong for us and we left in five minutes. Paid $1 600 for two rooms, three nights. It was like a youth hostile or dorm room. No room to move and hard to enter bathroom. Absolutely horrible. Had to find another hotel, which was very nice at same price. Complained to young girl where you enter. THEN spoke to Booking.com and told them the story. They contacted the hotel and of course they declined the refund. Worst case scenario they should return the other two nights. Bad, bad, bad customer service. That's a lot of money to lose, $1 600. And they probably gave it to a very young person, which is all it's meant for, and charged them again. Description should have mentioned some age preferences and they very small room. Not a dresser or cabinet and no counter in the bathroom. So unhappy with Booking.com
Do not go through Booking.com or Red Roof Inn. I booked a room for one night and then my trip was cancelled. I call Ed Red Roof Inn and they said I had to go through Booking.com to cancel. This was the day before the booking. I contacted Booking and the said they would contact Red Roof to make an exception and cancel but that there could be a fee. That was ok with me. This was last week. Monday I still had not received a credit and again contacted both Booking and Red Roof. I have not heard back from Booking and Red Roof said they marked me as a "no show" and charged full price with no refund. I went through all of the right channels to cancel to be charged for a service not rendered?! I repeat….Do NOT give these companies any business!
I have used booking.com on countless occasions to book hotel stays however, the ratings of some hotels are wholly inaccurate and do not reflect a lot of hotels. I have tried to write a review on every hotel stay however, booking.com do not publish the reviews and are very selective, thus it leads to a lot of misleading hotel ratings which then leads to very disappointing hotel stays. There needs to be a change in the policy so that all reviews are published provided you have booked and stayed, so that people can book accommodation that "accurately" reflects the reviews.
Do not. I repeat DO NOT purchase anything from these people if you plan to change the date or time of your booking. They will NOT help you in any way shape or form, they will leave you in a country stranded even if your visa is expiring and you're legally supposed to be gone from that country. They couldn't care less. They won't change the date and they will not refund the money. I've been on the phone with them countless times over the past few days just for my time to be completely wasted and also to be charged $65 per minute by my phone plan for international calls. This company is based out of the Netherlands. Every representative you get on the phone is an Indian because they pay a call center dirt cheap in India to run their business. Also there's no way to get in touch with managers or a corporate office. They are not here to help us, they are here to take our money. Save yourself a HUGE headache and Don't book with booking.com
Incredibly frustrating. Their promise to price match is FAKE. I spent hours trying to get through to someone and after telling my story multiple times, no one was willing to help. I just got bounced from email to phone to phone to email. Also, their prices are always more EXPENSIVE than booking directly. DO NOT USE. Save yourself the stress.
I do not want to give even a single star. My booking experience was horrible. They are not professional agency. They are similar like local agents near our area. I added all the services but nothing is reflect at the time of boarding. I checked with the customer care and they replied that booking.com is not responsible and they redirected me to check with the airlines.
I booked an hotel here called Motel-6 Mississauga unfortunately this hotel does not even exist on getting there the property has already been sealed off and booking.com has refused refunding my hard earned money.
I've used Booking.com for years and never really had a problem. That changed in a huge way last week.
I made a booking foe The Wynn Las Vegas for a few days. As usual, everything went smoothly and I received my confirmation. A couple days later, I received a notification from Booking.com that my credit card had been declined by the hotel. They said I should confirm my credit card info. As usual, I ignored that kind of message until I went to the actual website to verify I wasn't being scammed. Turns out the message was legit so I confirmed my credit card info and assumed everything was fine now. Next day I got the same message again from Booking.com so this time I reached out to The Wynn directly. They knew nothing about my credit card being declined. Matter of fact, they told me that I had no reservation with them at all! After that, I contacted my credit card company to verify if anyone had unsuccessfully tried to charge my card. They told me no one had and verified my credit was fine.
This is when I contacted customer service at Booking.com. I had to explain my situation multiple times and finally I was put on hold while the agent was supposed to be checking with his manager. After 15mins I hung up and called back. Spoke to a different agent but was informed that the first agent had taken care of my problem. When I asked if that meant my original "confirmed" reservation was now REALLY confirmed, the agent started trying to talk me into an "alternate accommodation". When I said that I didn't want a different hotel and reiterated my question about my original reservation, he just asked about an "alternate accommodation" again. When I again stated that I wanted my original hotel, they hung up on me! A few seconds later, I received a notification that my booking had been cancelled!
So, not only did they screw up the original booking but when I reached out to customer service not once but twice for help, they ignored my questions and ended up blowing me off!
Do yourself a favor and don't get involved with Booking.com. Not only are they not always the best deal, they obviously don't care about supporting their customers.
Spoke to an agent, didn't know it was a third party booking site, thought I was speaking to the Hotels Central booking. Used car salesman gave me an upgraded room when I asked about my loyalty rewards, said it included free breakfast included with the room. Upgraded to a Deluxe King size room, not sure what was different from a regular King size room. I asked him specifically if there was an additional charge for the breakfasts and he said absolutely not it was included. After eating breakfast and informing them that it's included with our room, I was informed they had no record of that. Didn't care about breakfast being included, but since I was told it was included, we went and eat at the Hotel. Ensuing fiasco wasn't something I wanted to deal with. Wasn't told the reservation was non refundable, would have left the Hotel the next day. Looked like they were going out of business. Can't get customer service to even find my reservation with the confirmation number I have on my receipt in an email from them. They say it's not valid, and won't let me talk to a supervisor with out them verifying my number.
We were unable to contact the hosts thus contacting booking.com about the issue. Was told could not cancel reservation for full refund till we got to destination and still could not make contact with the hosts. Can you imagine travelling to a destination and not having accomodations booked in the middle of the summer season. No customer service here just aviod BOOKING.COM at all cost!
Booked a reservation in a slum. Not equal to description and smelled like human waste. Booking.com continued to take my money even though the motel granted a refund. Then the "best they could do" was offer a $27 refund on a room for the 4 days I paid for. Unacceptable. And never again. Do not use them they will steal your money!
I recently reserved a room for 3 nights using my bank card on booking.com thinking it was going to save me money. I was wrong! My vehicle broke down 3.5 hours away from where I had made my reservations so I called them to cancel my reservations. I was told that they had to call the motel to inform them of my situation and they would get back to me and let me know if they would agree to cancel my reservation or not. The next day I still had not heard from them and as I was going to call them to find out what's going on I received a text message from Walmart saying there had been suspicious activity in my walmart account. I went to my walmart account and found out there was purchases made by someone in Southern California in a town I've never heard of. Walmart stopped the transaction from going through thankfully but I had to cancel my bank card and change all of my passwords for security purposes. It was my youngest daughter's 13th birthday and it was the most horrible experience we've ever had. I've learned a valuable lesson from this though, Never make reservations on booking.com or priceline.com or any other website like those because they can't be trusted to keep your information safe from thieves.
Why do you not put your phone number to clients who book it through booking dot come. It will tell you all the information including its open 24/7 but no phone number display. Very disappointing.
We bought a ticket to Canada plus insurance.date was wrong and evethought Airline was ready to accommodate booking would not,we presented Doctor note and booking was in violation and asked to know the cause of illness, and what it was. Disputed with incredible card and booking said we never attempted to cancel.
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: booking.com has horrible customer service. Don't use them.
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: Can you please explain why you think Booking.com is not trustworthy please?
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
