Alpine Roofers crunched and damaged my tree while doing roofing for a client across the laneway. They were never going to report it which is like a hit and run. It was business as usual for them. I have contacted the city and an arborist. The sign clearly states no trucks beyond 2 m wide and no parking in the laneway but this does not apply to them. It took 30 years for that tree to grow and was planted for my youngest son. When I could see it was localized and see the truck I knew the truck hit my apple tree and hit hard. Fixing up a client's property at another neighbors expense should not be your companies standard practice. Traumatic injury to trees can be a serious and even deadly problem. Vehicle injury to trees can be particularly difficult to correct since the damage is often severe. Many cannot survive the mutilation that breaks and distort branches and their ability to get water. Not only does it cause physical destruction, but the very vitality of the tree is impaired. In severe instances, the only decision may have to be tree removal. Wound injuries allow insects to get in, eat the limbs and leaves, expose the inside to organisms such as fungi and bacteria, scaring occurs, and even discoloration. Tree damage by a truck may also include bark splitting which is also impacted in the winter months. In short, hits like this severely compromise the life and health of the tree. THEY WERE ARROGANT AND WERE NOT CONCERNED IN THE LEAST. IF YOU HIRE THEM, YOU MIGHT GET THE JOB DONE BUT HAVE SECONDARY ISSUES WITH THE NEIGHBOURS. HIRE SOMEONE ELSE AND HAVE PIECE OF MIND. THEY ALSO LEAVE A MESS. THEY ALSO PARKED IN THE LANEWAY.

Bottom line, we don't pay for their services so they leave all the bad reviews and take away all our good reviews... unless I pay them, then they claim they can help me. A rep calls me at least twice a week. I speak to him and explain my position. I don't want to pay Yelp if they won't support me with my negative reviews. He said, "you have 4 stars! Other businesses would be delighted to have 4 stars." I told him, it wasn't about the stars. I then asked 6 clients if they would post a review for me. Some of these clients I have serviced for 3 years. They all did. A week later, they were removed and my business now has 3 stars on Yelp. He called again today. I missed the call. I not sure what my next move is. Yelp are unfairly harming my business. They don't care, they want my money and only then can they help... unethical, bullies and bad for business.

BUSINESS OWNERS BEWARE! Yelp will only show your bad reviews and hide all the positive until you pay them for ongoing services. We have 17 five star reviews and 1 one star review. Yelp will only show the 1 star. When we call to complain, they state that we have to pay them to release the other reviews.

Basically a scam
April 16, 2020

I was tenaciously contacted by their rep, a very persuasive young lady who told me I could expect a return of $5 for every dollar spent. After accruing over $200.00 in charges, the only lead I had gotten from Yelp was a nigerian scammer. I emailed the account rep and support department to end the campaign, and they did not end it. They make you figure out how to cancel yourself. Just Plain crooks and thieves.

Warning!
April 13, 2020

If you are a business owner or manager, stay away from Yelp! Do not claim the business on their website. Please read all of the negative reviews here, and other places. I have. It is all true, the same things happened to our business and then some. There is nothing you can do about it except stay away.
If you are a consumer, know that Yelp gives an untrue portrayal of many many businesses, and your reviews are not lroperly handled. Yelp is evil.

Yelp is a SCAM - They make you PAY for reviews to be posted and REMOVED! The only thing they are interested in is if you advertise with them. The sales staff is rude and clueless about the company's extortion practices. I worked for a National company that had to PAY big Money to get branches that they did not even add that had bad reviews taken down but that took Thousands of Dollars a shady agreement that the company had to help push and sell YELP to their contractors then the reviews would come down. This is EXTORTION at its best. YELP IS A SCAM and their people are SCUM!

I also was duped by YELP. Rep Hillary Schweitzer called and said she would not charge my card and did. I received a bill for $394. I immediately called in and naturally she wasn't available. I received a call from here supervisor Jennifer saying sorry this is a self service program and theres nothing we can do. They charge me $394 and I never authorized it... as of today I was still getting billed. I have an email where I said not to charge my personal card.

Just like many of the reviews below. A company like YELP who's business is to review other businesses doesn't care about scamming small businesses! They had their slick Sr Sales Sales Executive sell me on receiving $300 worth of Free Yelp adds prior to my own card being charged. On my billing page they claim there were 4,819 impressions with 19 actual clicks at $31.56 per click = $600. I got 3 inquiries with no return contact information which I completely believe were made up interested clients! They are clearly scamming small businesses (I am a one man show real estate) to get peoples credit card # and charge away! It's infuriating that I am tring to establish my business and Yelp is out here sucking people dry! I hope somebody sets this up for a class action lawsuit!

Rip Off!
April 1, 2020

I signed up with Yelp about 6 weeks ago on their "$300 Special" for business owners on a "$20 per click" basis. It hadn't generated any leads but the bills keep coming in anyway. Over $650 of my own money spent for nothing! I had cancelled after the first 30 days but my credit card was still charged over $430 this morning for who knows what. Impossible to contact anyone with an issue. How this company is allowed to operate like this is a mystery. Stay was from this company like a virus!

YELP is worse than the Corona Virus. This company strives to spread Negative reviews for any BUSINESS that works hard in the service business. All of us know, it's hard to please everyone in the service business, but we certainly try to. My company has been open for over 15yrs and a lot of my clients ask me, WHY DOES YELP ONLY POST NEGATIVE REVIEWS? I TOLD THEM THE ARE JUST LIKE CNN AND SPREAD FAKE NEWS. My clients after leaving my business tell me they are writing positive reviews and have shown me emails proving that. The emails show me they have taken their time after a few days or hours to write good reviews and Yelp just deletes them. I can wait for THIS COMPANY TO PAY FOR WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN DOING TO MANY BUSINESS THAT DON'T DESERVE BAD REPUTATION.

My experience with Yelp is that when you sign up for $300.00 in free ads you will get $300.00 in fake customers! I believe they are Yelp employees pretending to be customers while burning up your free ad credits. I had tried it numerous times so I see what happens. A common example is I get an email from Yelp Biz claiming to be a customer interested in my service. I reply 5 seconds after the email and they reply "we got some one else" or "we don't need the service anymore!" This happened multiple times. Its a scam in my experience!

Got a call from Stephen and he assured me saying I got $300 new business credit and I can run ad until it runs out and if I want to keep it I can just continue later.
But when I called back to cancel they already charged me $35.31&25.31 for so called balance. They tricked me to sign up for free and get card info and charge whatever amount they want. When I tried to contact them they simply refused to refund but wanted me to sign up again. What a scam. I cant believe I fell into this. Just made a mistake by not looking at their reviews ahead. Please save your time. Dont fall into their free ads scam. Its not free when you are charged a so called fee. They will make you wait like 20 plus mins to talk w someone for service and then say they cant so anything because its self managed. Stay away.

Advertising rip off
March 23, 2020

RIP OFF! Do not advertise with yelp!
Maybe it's a good app for the consumers but TERRIBLE for business owners.
When we started a small company I have been getting lots of calls to start advertising with them. We were told our company would be on the 1st page. And of course it was not. We were promised that with our budget the most amount we would be spending a month is $150. Sure enough we were charged almost $500 the fist month working with them. When i called trying to understand where the charges came from customer representative was very rude and not helpful whatsoever! They said they can not help me and i agreed to that which is simply not true.
Unfortunately my bank was not able to help either to get my money back. If you decide to work with Yelp get that contract in writing. But i recommend not to work with them ever! All they can do is talk you into giving your credit card so they can steal your money. I have not seen any of the benefits that yelp was promising.
Also none of our customers were able to leave a review for us due to the Yelp recognition algorithm.

Art Frame Studio
March 17, 2020

Paolo Mejia at Art Frame Studio on 257 Castro in Mt View did an exceptional job framing a difficult picture I had. It was a 2"x2" picture that other stores wouldn't tackle. He was easy to work with and the end result was so creative. I highly recommend him.

After they gave me $150 credit on a bill of more than $300 on an ad I didn't run, I ran an ad and got 5 clicks at $16.59 per click with $5 per day ad spend = $150 per month netted just 3 contacts and One customer = $80.
Plus they auto-withdrew my account 15 days ahead of the end of that month.
