My first reaction, considering the price I paid, was disappointment that there was no rug beater attachment. The suction is suction on steroids, but even on the Auto setting, it is difficult to vacuum area rugs. Having had shoulder surgery recently, I really struggled not to injure myself. A belt-driven rug beater would have been much appreciated, considering the power of the vacuum cleaner and the difficulty that power creates in moving the brush back and forth. Other than that, I'm pleased with the purchase. Having four dogs, I was blown away by the Miele Aliza's ability to remove dog hair completely from a microfiber couch!
