Do not hire Geek Squad to do anything with your computer. They've been found to snoop through your personal files, including pictures, financials and other documents. Additionally, there are numerous complaints out there about them scamming customers by telling them that they have something more wrong with their machine than they actually do. Its complete and flat out fraud. Michelle's suggestion below was a good one, and that's who I'm having fix this mess the "Geeks" created. Find someone you can trust! NOT GEEK SQUAD!
I typically have a good shopping experience on Best Buy. However, I was unable to place online orders during the Christmas 2014 season. It was frustrating and I ended up going to Game Stop.
My dvd would not work. I had to talk to 3 people before a refund was issued and the problem was resolved. Poor customer service. For sure. I dont know if i will shop here again. Used to be the customer was always right what happened to this idea.it took forever to get assistance at this store no one seemed to know anything. Unknowledgeable. The employes borderline. Incompetent. Just saying.
They claim some Prices for some items are such an outstanding deal but I have checked out same item other sites and the item is no deal at all. They either jack their prices way up and then claim it's 50% off for example and really the reduced price is other places regular price. Warrenties are backed up as advertised-they are good about backing up items under warreny

Bought a laptop brought it back to Oz 9 months latter it popped it self, Asus Au didn't want to know about it had to send it back to best buys USA at my cost who just made up all the stories in the world to avoid their responsibility. At the end had to throw away a 9mth old $800 lap top

I bought a $300 set of headphones for my husband for Christmas. By the time we got home from out of town Christmas vacation with Family (last weekend) and found a few minutes during the week to try to get them to work with the setup we have at home - only to find out they didn't, in between working full time (both of us), today, Saturday was the very first chance I had to return them. But nothing doing! They were keeping our money! (And everyone else's in the Returns line, I had to stand in line for about 20 minutes). Why can't they give some "grace" within the "grace period" and extend it for at least the Saturday for returns, especially electronics. Just two more days until Saturday so people can get there! But no, all I got from the managers (Levittown, NY) was to "talk to the hand" and "That's our policy". I understand that Returns cost them too, but it costs us working class shoppers, and loyal shoppers until this, so much more... and we can't claim the loss as write offs on our taxes like a big conglomerate like Best Buy could. I say UNFAIR! It shouldn't cost me $300 to find out that what I bought from you doesn't work. And no, store credit isn't anywhere near the same as getting my money back! That is a very expensive lesson, but I can assure you I have learned it well. Why don't you care about your customers while you still have them. There's nothing you carry in your store that can't be bought somewhere else! Next Christmas I, and everyone else in that line by my estimate, will be looking for return policies before they buy anything!
I had a 60 inch sharp tv for over 6 years the tv was working great. And then one day all of sudden stop working. Well i had to shop for a new tv. I am doing all my shopping online because i always know i will get better prices then i get in retail stores. But i shop for 70 inch sharp tv no matter where i looked best buy always had better prices. So i decide to go to best buy to buy the 70 inch sharp. I took it how was working great for 2 days then all of sudden stop working. (not best buy fault) i had to return the tv to best buy and they took it back no problem and refunded my money even that i returned the tv without the box. Amazing service. I actually love the service so much so i decide to buy another tv from bestbuy
I used to be fan of Best Buy because I liked to buy their products and they were friendly. I stopped buying stuffs from them after I was not able to get tax off for a non-profit buy. They didn't help me in that matter. In addition, I started buying online after that.

Answer: All I can say is that you obviously have been very lucky. I was a dedicated customer for 25 years, however, I would do without before I ever spent another dime in a Best Buy!
Answer: I would write a letter to your state's attorney general. There are laws regarding taking advantage of senior citizens. I would specifically ask for documentation from Best Buy in which your grandmother gave them permission to recycle her 18 month old computer. If they cannot produce that document they may be in very big trouble with the state's attorney general. I would also write the BBB and contact your public officials. This I think would be paramount to theft if your grandmother did not give them permission to recycle her computer. On the flip side of things, ASUS is a very good machine. My son is a computer scientist and swears by ASUS. I have three ASUS machines one of which is over 5 years old and it is a workhorse. Unless something significant happens in the ASUS business world, I will continue to buy ASUS!
